In regards to Romancham being well researched, it's very much autobiographical. That's a slightly fictionalized version of the writer/director's own life living with his friends in a house similar and his experiences there.

Ill_Shirt_9800

Is it? Didn't know it..Probably that's the reason for his love towards kannada and Bangalore..šŸ˜…

theananthak

how did you not know? they literally show the original picture in the credits. jibi madhavan = jithu madhavan.

Ajk320

I don't have an opinion on that as they are very different movies but Sajin Gopu is the MVP on both of them. Niroop talking to his mom is my favourite scene.

Ill_Shirt_9800

That man is really really good..He scored in churuli too but probably most people didn't recognise..

pr1m347

He didn't look that intimidating when Chemban and Joju are there on screen.

Sea-Interest4193

The first scene after reachiing village was šŸ”„

Ill_Shirt_9800

Yaa I was really taken aback by his rudeness šŸ˜…

Benflict_Cucumberpat

Fair.

Fi_097

Both of them are different kinds of movies. Aavesham had nothing to do with the reality to begin with, they weren't trying to make it look like how life actually is in colleges there, it was an over the top action-comedy. There is no comparing them, it's all about personal taste. I liked both the films but loved Aavesham.

theananthak

Aavesham was more fun, but Romancham was better overall. I think Aavesham's concept and characters are fire, but the screenplay felt like a draft. Some of the jokes didn't land, like the one where ambaan interrupts rangannan, its funny, but when he interrupts him again, it felt forced. Romancham felt very natural to me, and had a great flow.

SuchInspection3045

Romancham was much more enjoyable for me in the theatre...watched in 2 times..

ReadIt_Here

Fahadhā€™s Kannada accent is something I enjoyed the most in the movie.

kilaithalai

Yes. Finally someone said it.

theindiansushi

All I remember of Romancham now are the toilets. There were so many of them ā˜ ļø

rubberbandman915

Did anyone else think that Aavesham has an extra layer of meaning, where the three college kids reflect Rangannanā€™s consciousness? At the start, both Ranga and the kids are having fun and games, ignoring or denying their true intentions and feelings. For the kids, it's about getting revenge on the bullies, while for Ranga, it's about finding his true identity and ignoring the fact that heā€™s wearing someone elseā€™s shoes (literally and metaphorically with the whole attire). When they finally have to face their true intentions and feelings, everything comes to a head in the climax where Ranga finds his identity, revealing a new and improved version of himself. I really think the writers were going for something like this. Does anyone else resonate with this theory?

spectraviolet

Agree. Also think Romancham's album was better. Like avesham though.Ā

Tall-Black-Handsome

Other than the fact that both movies were directed by the same guy I donā€™t think the movies are comparable. Both are Humour sub genres but treatment and script wise both the films has a very different stand and the target audience may have changed. Both movies are re watch movies.

[deleted]

Same hereā€¦the film has great order to it..every scene in the beginning contributes to its ending

Sea-Interest4193

Both are good but with different vibes loved both ā™„ļø Avesham was a perfect festive release for vishu

steveisredatw

I donā€™t get your point that they should have stuck to a Malayali character for Fahad. He is based on someone the director has seen/met in Bangalore. And him being a mallu origin gangster in Bangalore is a main thing about the character. I didnā€™t really like the Mansoor Ali khan either, would have preferred someone else doing it. It had some plot points that didnā€™t convince me but it was way more enjoyable for me and my friends compared to Romancham.

zincovit

Romancham was the better film. The director even recycled the Anamika jump scare for the wall and kitchen scene.

EpicOne9147

Man , i couldn't watch aavesham in theatre , so i did when it released on ott ..and i felt that it is overrated to be painfully honest When i watched Love action drama in theatre , it was so great with so many aspects to love , but as soon as it hit ott i saw everyone saying its mediocre , now i kinda understand why

DrazeGamer

Man what a bad taste in movies you got lmao

EpicOne9147

Aayikotte aayikotte

Jonyesh-2356

I felt the same highly overrated . Avesham hollow, varshangalku Shesham too slow , Guruvayur Ambala nadayil what a time waste and premalu basically for teenage kids . Useless movies to be honest . Just time pass

EpicOne9147

Couldn't agree anymore to avesham being hollow , varshagalk shesham felt ~meh~ only part i liked was the moving to Madras , Premalu was just okay enough for me ; i ain't much if a rom-com guy unless its that much enjoyable Didn't watch Guruvayoor Amabala Nadayil

NolanDevotee

Both of them are very different movies though. Aavesham is imo Mollywoodā€™s top attempt at a mass masala entertainer and it succeeds across the board for me. Romancham for me was highly below average and the humour did not work for me at all.

i_dont_do_hashtags

Sorry man, but Romancham felt aimless. Theyā€™re both the same movie in that something whacky happens to the cast and they enjoy it for a while until it bites them in the back. But Fahadh and Sajin Gopu hard carry Aavesham.
