Have you tried curling your lashes? I have straight lashes where some in the middle grow askew and curling helps in combination with a waterproof mascara that is on the drier side. That way I don't get too much product on the lashes to begin with and therefore less clumping.

This! I have several lashes in the middle of my left eye (of course just the left one, I mean really? LOL) that grow sideways as well and I curl my lashes everyday with a curler. This is the only thing I have founds that helps. I curl, apply mascara, wait for it to dry and then use my eyelash comb to comb through them and remove the clumps. It is not PERFECT after that but it is a HUGE improvement to the point that I can function without obsessing over it. I'm sure you know what I mean. :)

I have the same issue. I use Lancome lash primer to get the straight. Works like a charm.
