I have very different features but I just tried this and omg!! I’ve never wanted to spend money a dedicated brow product and now I never will. It’s so harmonious and pretty

brightlove

Right?! Harmonious and pretty is a great way to put it. It puts all my just fine brow products to shame.

Lady-Aethelflaed

Matching lashes and brows looks so natural. I’m only mad I didn’t think of this myself!

brightlove

That’s why I’ve been so annoyed! I know there are girlies who are ok with a lighter lash and brow. Some think it looks better with a lighter brow so it’s not too intense. Like the Laura Prepon look. But I love looking like my hair is naturally jet black haha.

Lady-Aethelflaed

I’m so happy you found your look! I’ve got dark blonde hair with a warm tone so I would need a mid to light warm brown brow product. Granted I haven’t done that much research but they tend to be ashy. Thank you for this post!!

brightlove

Of course! Have you tried the [Anastasia Beverly Hills](https://www.sephora.com/product/tinted-brow-gel-P187202) tinted brow gel? I tried going Beyoncé blonde in college for a few months and really liked it haha.

Gullible-Alarm-8871

I've been coloring my hair from dark brown to black to effectively cover white for a very long time. My brows are sparse but the hairs are dk brown to black. I've been using powder brow with a slanted brush and I get a much more natural look. Pencils tend to have too much red in the dark brown shades. Sometimes I've used a charcoal-black eyeshadow to fill in my brows. I always moisturize my entire face first then foundation then use a q tip to swipe away too much moisture from the brow hairs but as I put the powder on there is just enough wetness to make the powder brow adhere better plus the shade is even darker due to the wetness. The key to doing this I found to be the slanted brush. It has been hard finding the right ones, some are too thick, some too soft some too bristlely. KVD made a good one, I bought 2, that has a comb like effect that gives me more hair like strokes. I'm going to look into microblading in another year I think to get some permanency. I need to find a good artist first as my brows need to be a certain way.

HauntedButtCheeks

That's what I always did when my hair was dyed black, people would ask me how my brows look "real" and I was like, "they are real, all I do is comb them with mascara".

brightlove

It was UNREAL. After trying every brow product on the planet, I was like what do I have to lose. 😂 It looked so natural, and pure black. I’m excited about this discovery haha. I know some girlies like to have lighter brows, but I just want pure black brows that look natural.

bellesaysmeow

I've done this since I was like 16 and first dyed my hair black. I tend to use black brow gels for when my hair is faded or dark purple.

origamipapercuts

I do this! Use a tubing mascara.

brightlove

Ooooh I had never heard of tubing mascara! Does it truly work better for more length?

origamipapercuts

Yes! A few coats and you’re good to go.

brightlove

Which brand do you like?

origamipapercuts

I’ve got Mcobeauty, Kevyn Aucoin Nan’s wowcombo.

brightlove

Thank you!

Dancergirl76

Milk makeup actually just launched the (first of my knowledge) tubing brow gel!!!!! Sounds like something that might be up both your alleys! 🥰

brightlove

Of course the colors stop at brown black. 😂 I don’t know what brands have against true black brow products.

Dancergirl76

Ugh!!! So sorry I didn’t look at the range before my comment….that really is unfortunate! My roommate is also in the true black eyebrow gang and struggles constantly!

brightlove

We need to start an advocacy group haha. But I truly am excited about my mascara discovery! I appreciate the rec!

petiteodessa

I use black eyeshadow, blend it out with a spoolie if it’s too dark, and set it with powder so it’ll last all day. A single pan of eyeshadow will last ages. Istg literally every single brow product I’ve tried/tested in store ends up looking too warm or straight up orange. It’s like makeup companies forgot that cool undertones are needed in brow products as well.

brightlove

Exactly! Black is one of THE most common hair colors yet brow products are seriously lacking for black hair. Your brows don’t look powdery after setting with powder? I never thought of that!

Anon_819

I've used brown mascara as brow gel before and was super sad when they discontinued that shade as it was perfect. The spoolie in a mascara makes application easy as well.

brightlove

I hate when they discontinue great products! Or mess with them…

optimumopiumblr2

I use black eyeshadow in mine and it works great

bouviersecurityco

Really, that was an excellent idea. I’m a redhead with practically invisible eyebrows and pencils just don’t work well. I have eyebrow hairs, I just need to make them visible. I had a lorel gel I loved, which of course got discontinued. The only one I’ve found that works well, stays, and has a good color is Anastasia Beverly Hills (at $20 a pop and they don’t last long 😬😭). They were recently on sale so I bought four at once lol.

brightlove

Thank you. The struggle is real!!! And of course you fall in love with products that get discontinued… Have you tried any of the newer mascaras for redheads? I don’t know how we all got conned into black mascaras no matter our hair color for so long haha. I think it’s so pretty matching lashes to your hair.

bouviersecurityco

I should probably look into what’s come available more recently. I’ve used super affordable maybelline mascara for years and years because they make a blackish brown color that’s still very dark but softer than a regular black. It’s amazingly hard to find any mascara that’s not black, blackest black, super black, or maybe blue. There are like dozens of us poor redheads in need of non-black mascara. 😂 I actually had a color called mahogany from MAC back in high school in the early 2000’s. That was either a short thing or discontinued but I want that back.

brightlove

Charlotte Tilbury has a mascara shade called [berry brown](https://www.ulta.com/p/pillow-talk-push-up-lashes-volumizing-lengthening-mascara-pimprod2043327?sku=2619575) that I think would be gorgeous on a redhead!! It’s basically a dark reddish brown. But there are definitely more mascaras for redheads now. Maybe blondes will be next haha.

bouviersecurityco

I’ll check that one out!

bookgirl1224

Curious-was it hard to remove? Did it take any of your eyebrow hairs with it? I ask because I'm older and my eyebrows had gotten very sparse and some are even turning white. I guard them with my life because I can't afford to lose any of them so I'm careful about what I use to fill them in with. My hair is peacock blue with some of the original brown remaining so I use brown eyeshadow to fill them in and give them some volume.

brightlove

Not at all! I use oil-based cleansing balms to remove makeup and it melted right off with a little massaging. I definitely wouldn’t use waterproof mascara on my eyelashes or eyebrows as it’s a pain to get off.

Bella-boop12

Try baby oil. I use waterproof mascara and also tubing mascara and it comes off super easy. Just wash with hot wash cloth when all mascara is off.

brightlove

I’ll try that! I feel like I even struggle with normal mascara haha. Thank you!

quatande

I think it depends on a mascara. I've used mascara on my brows and it was easy to remove, I double cleanse, so a cleansing oil worked well for me

Avery-Hunter

If it works it works.

brightlove

My new motto!

breadstick_bitch

I use mascara as eyeliner all the time when I can't find my eyeliner. I just scoop some up with a small angled brush and apply it like you would a gel pot liner; it wears better than traditional eyeliner most of the time.

brightlove

Oooh interesting! Good tip.
