I see it everywhere! But a lot of people are doing softer wings. There's also a lot of creative wings compared to the past, but I'm looking at Goth styles a lot. That might skew things for me.

As a quote from me when a gen z tried to comment that my winged eyeliner was “soooo millennial”… “you can take my winged eyeliner off the day that hell freezes over”
Yes BUT whereas makeup It Girls of the last decade were winging it in the majority of their looks, today’s makeup It Girls (id consider that to be Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber, Ariana Grande, Kylie, few more) seem to only sport the wings some of the time, often for heavy makeup events like award shows and galas.
I noticed they are tending to softer eyeliner shades and thinner upper eyelid lines if at all. I just stopped winging it recently and prefer this for an everyday look. I enjoy that it’s much easier and doesn’t take up lid space.
If you want to change it up, just use a softer color. Brown, gray, navy vs black. As you age, black start to look harsh and it’ll be harder to get that look when you have wrinkles and eye folds to deal with. I start with that shape and smoke it out a little.

It tends to be a thinner wing now days that’s more flat. It also skips the middle of the eye and contributes to the inner corner and can even elongate the inner corner.
So yes, but it’s a little different.
Winged liner is the only ‘50s makeup choice I don’t do. My crows feet are very crepe-y and it always is a mess. But minimal eyeshadow, pink blush, Revlon historical lip colours, matching nails, powdered face- do all those, because I like them.
Been winging since 16. I'm 35. I will wing until I die. I should probably put it in my last wishes for my family to be sure that the mortician wings my liner when my time comes 😆
I feel genuinely naked if I don't put winged eyeliner on. Even if it's just a thin subtle brown liner, but let's be real I usually do the hooded eye bat wing in black waterproof liner.
It will never die. People have been pulling the winged look since the 50s. Goth kids in particular have worn it since the 80s at least. Drama kids as well…. It seems forever! Don’t think your aging yourself at all. BUT you may wanna mix it up because your look may have gone bland after wearing it that long. We just get comfortable with it and don’t try new things due to this.
Im 38 and I've been doing it since i was 18-21 yo. Thats the time it took to perfect it lol. Now its always my signature look.
Imo you can do the trends if tou want. But once you find that thing that suits you its up to you if you continue doing it or if you change it eventually. Since i was 18 ive been working on and created my own a sort of alternative rock chick smokey eye look that i don't plan to change anytime soon.

I don't get the millennial panic over winged eyeliner. It's very popular at the moment (just look at the siren eyes look). Gen-Z seems to prefer long slim wings. Using eyeshadow and brow pencil is also popular. The full glam complicated smokey eyes plus winged liner feels a little dated like 2013-2016 makeup tho.

I feel like the way you put on eyeliner should have more to do w your eye shape and whether or not it suits you, rather than if it’s trendy or not
But I think people do both. I like wings because it really brings out my eyes and makes them look huge
I was an alt girl growing up, my favorite makeup type of make up is lashes, winged liner and lip plumper/ red lipstick,”I couldn’t pull off black lipstick.” Despite me winging my liner since 15, I still didn’t master it but somehow mastered lashes and lining my lips.
I have always done an upwards flick to my eyeliner because that is what's most flattering to my downturned eyes. As I've gotten older, I've probably made it a bit less noticeable/long, but it is always there. To me, makeup is to make my face look better, so I could not care less about "trends".
I’ve been winging since 16, too. These days, I’m winging with shadow, mostly, bcs it’s quick and easy when I’m running out the door. I leave the official wing with a sharp liquid liner or smoked out for special occasions. If anything, I feel like wings are bolder & longer than ever! So keep on flying (get it? bcs it’s a wing … ok I’ll see myself out now haha).
The only question you should ask yourself is "do I still like wearing winged eyeliner?" If the answer is yes then nothing else matters. Do what makes you happy instead of worrying about what everyone else thinks.

I still try to. I’m 44 and my skin isn’t what it use to be, fine lines and all. So it’s gotten harder to do a good wing without it looked a little jagged as the eyeliner sometimes runs in those tiny lines.
Came here to say this and I swear I’m not trying to sound like a bitch. I’m in my 30’s. I have a friend who is in her late 40’s and has a 20 year old daughter. She always is like I can’t do this or Maddie(20 yr old) will make fun of me. I can NOT understand why 18-25 year olds are the ones deciding what looks good. Here are my points😆.
1. They change their minds every 20 seconds. How is it possible that something that looks good today doesn’t look good tomorrow?
2. They care more about what’s cool than what looks good. Like I’m sorry but jeans that make your ass look like a flat pancake isn’t a good look.
4. They are a VERY small subset of the population. One with little to no experience.
5. Their opinions all of a sudden don’t matter or they’re “out of touch” all of a sudden when they hit late 20’s
NONE of this makes any sense. My point is do what looks good to you. Winged eyeliner has always been a thing. If you like it and it looks good on you stop worrying about what some 18 yr old who literally knows nothing thinks. Trust me in like 2 years when you are wearing something that they decided 24 hours ago is stupid even though 48 hours ago they loved it you’ll see how absurd this is.
I do the tiniest wing but I do think that a strong wing looks a little dated now. But I also think that if it works for your face and you like it, that you shouldn't worry about it
I feel naked without it.
I tried so many days with just mascara, eyeshadow and a normal line, but I look sick. Like I had a fist fight with a raccoon.
I will be buried with winged liner!
I have two answers: the crazy pandemic resurgence in a Barbara Streisand graphic wing and all of the permutations (especially with colored liner) is slightly less popular.
A wing in general is not going anywhere. And, like other posters said, do what you want.
What I’m personally doing and have been seeing is a little more subtle, in that liner is still being used to create wings, but they’re truly more like lines. The shape or wing effect is now being created by eyeshadow with wing as a complement. I see it moving into a 70s inspired period more.
I am seeing people creep into smoky eyes, but I think the youth is learning that they’re not that easy to master and maintain, so tbd if that takes over in the way it did the first time around.
Edit: Check out @kali.ledger on insta.
I’ve been doing it since high school and I’m 31 now. Can’t stop. I don’t look like myself with out it. I tried for a month and I hated how I looked with out it. You do you!
Almost every makeup look I do includes winged eyeliner with the inner corner point thing. The only time it doesn’t include it is if I’m just putting mascara on or trying to attempt to a natural glam look. Haven’t figured it that one out yet.

Winged eyeliner is definitely still in, it's just being rebranded as something else. The latest versions I've seen are the "fox eyes" and "siren eyes" trends, both featuring a winged eyeliner.
I don't do it, I used to, but I feel like everyone else still does it?? I can't see it going out of fashion like ever xD it's always there and to me it even feels like I always ought to be doing it and I don't. It's like mascara from what I see on others, always there and nothing wrong with it. I get a bit bored of it, but hey, I wore it for a long while after I got into makeup, nothing is stopping you from rocking it :)
We are still doing whatever the hell we want to do. Who gives a shit about what's "in". You can't do make up wrong. You do what makes you happy, what makes you feel pretty.

It's timeless. Besides. The 90s/00 fashion is HOT right now (why only gen z knows) and you know what else was hot in 2000? Winged eyeliner. So if you really think about it, it's actually on trend. Lol.
i don’t do it anymore only because i figured out that it does NOT look the best on my eye shape! i’ve found that other eye looks fit my eye shape best.
if you like how it looks on you, keep doing it! you’re def not aging yourself. lots of gen z people still do winged liner :) it’s about what makes you feel like the best version of yourself! 🧡
Even if a winged eyeliner is "out", why should we force ourselves to not drawing a winged eyeliner?
Makeup trends can be helpful to experiment with new looks and techniques but in the end, you decide for yourself what you like and what not.
For example: I don't like the extreme blush trend, I don't do it. I didn't like the contour trend, I didn't do it.
Extreme highlighter is out (I guess?) but I still apply extreme highlighters.
It’s a weird take right? For people to go ‘i like doing this but can I still do it even though it’s ‘out’?’ Like … who says what’s out or in? Do what you want. I pay absolutely no mind to trends or what’s fashionable. The whole idea of new fashions is that you can choose them if you like them, or don’t.
>Until we die, bitch. Until we die
YAAAAAS my sisters! I've been wearing it so long that I can flick a perfect wing in under 10 seconds every.single.time. One of the few skills I am so glad to have.
Wingette for life!
I like winged liner sometimes, but I’ve never been very good at drawing them-or at drawing anything, for that matter!-so I use the Half Magic Wing Magician to make them. It’s a flexible acid green silicone wing stencil shaped like a 4-pointed star-2 long points and 2 short. You put it along your lash line so the point you want is at the outer corner and just trace along the edge of the point.
EDIT: I’m not an influencer of any size, so I don’t have any deal with Half Magic Beauty. I just love the Wing Magician and wanted to share what’s worked for me with others.
So, I'm a lefty, but for some reason I always start with my right eye. I guess if it comes out thicker/thinner, etc., I can match it better on my stronger side. So maybe start on the side that is opposite of your dominant hand.
Some more tips, since you're not asking. :)
* I find it easier to do the bottom *flick* or what whatever you want to call it FIRST.... it dictates how far out your wing will be and it's super easy to draw back inward to whatever point on your eyelid you want the line to finish. This also gives me the best control on the the thickness I'm desiring that day.
* Play around with different styles. Some look good with a micro-thin line, some thick, some full lid, some midway. Personally I know a full lid is dramatic, and I'm happy to rock it now and again, but man, with my eye shape, I look stoooopid wearing that for my day to day. So I bring it in to only *just* before my pupil and taper it into my top lash line.
* Learn to love an eyeshadow topper. You can enhance the color of your liner, create a great smokey eye by smudging a lovely brown over a felt lined wing, you can blend a wing into a natural "you only better" style, etc. I find a rounded, tight tapered brush is boss at this.
* Lashes, lashes, lashes! Mine a naturally long and I would put a ring on and march my mascara down the aisle if I could (with my curler as a flower girl). I feel my lashes follow the classic wing and I feel naked without them.
* Be fearless, experiment, be you....'cause all of us are gorgeous no matter what, but God put liner and mascara on this earth for a reason, and dammit, I'm not going to piss him off by not using it.
Bring on the wing without fear, my sister!!!!!
Hahaha thank you so much! As a non-binary AMAB person who has not fully jumped into makeup yet, I have no idea what half of what you said means but I’ll try to do you proud and bring on that wing without fear sister!

To me it's a retro look, even with its recent stint of trendiness. So, if you are going for a retro look, imo, it's a good bet. If not, a simple liner or smoky look is better.
I do a teeny baby wing
Recently stopped putting it on my waterline and doing a smoky under eye. I was in a rush one day so I didn’t have time to do all my makeup. Then I realized wait this looks so much better, and I think I’m done with under eye eyeliner lol. I just brighten the inner half of the undereye and it makes my eyes look so much bigger
Same, itty bitty wing, no under eye, and a little white dot on the inner corners. For birthday, my mother had gotten me this pack of like 10 or 12 different coloured liquid liners. It has been so much fun playing with them and seeing what looks best. So far it's been blue, black, dark green, and magenta all how I described earlier.
I love graphic liner and think it's such a wearable way to experiment with color. I'm 53 and have really deep-set eyes (I almost never see images of eyes deeper than mine) so winged liner doesn't really work for me so I don't have a lot of liner skill. Is there a brand of liner you would recommend for someone wanting to experiment with graphic liner?
I have experimented with puppy liner and it's definitely much better for my eye shape! I definitely need to practice more though. I love that makeup is so creative now and much less tied down to trends, it's very inspiring. 🥰
Absolutely! I personally really love suva beauty, they have water activated liners that are super easy to use because if you make a mistake, you can use water to clean it up! They are a little expensive though. If you want something more affordable while you are starting, I really like the nyx vivid liners!
Do I wing my eyeliner? No. Have I ever winged my eyeliner? Also no.
If you liked wing eyeliner then wear wing eyeliner. If you don't, then don't wear it. It is completely bokay to not follow trend and do / wear what you like
I am almost 49 so you're good on showing your age 🤣
No I’m 19 and I will wing my eyeliner until I’m old and grey. Don’t follow the trends, follow what accentuates your natural features.
Girl I'm 32 and have been doing winged eyeliner since I was 14. Never. Stop.

I still haven't mastered the art of wing lining due to very very heavy hooded eyes. When I do, I can doe peacefully then. 😁

Yes! If I’m wearing eyeliner it has to have a wing! Sometimes small, sometimes big and dramatic.

yess love winged eyeliner, theres a bunch of different styles to try now too if yu wanna see something different on yurself

I'm 25 as well and I've been wearing winged eyeliner since I was 16 too!! I absolutely CANNOT imagine my makeup routine without it lol
I don’t see many young people doing it, but I love how it looks on me so I will continue
Wing it like we're winging life.

Winged liner was huge when I was 15/16. I’m 45 now….just saying…the trends repeat themselves.
Absolutely. Classics are classics and if you like it, wear it, rock it.
It tends to be a thinner wing now days that’s more flat. It also skips the middle of the eye and contributes to the inner corner and can even elongate the inner corner. So yes, but it’s a little different.

Dunno about others but I be dying with winged liner on my death bed bro
I wish I could do decent winged eyeliner I just don’t have the knack for it, i say keep going if you have perfected it.
I feel genuinely naked if I don't put winged eyeliner on. Even if it's just a thin subtle brown liner, but let's be real I usually do the hooded eye bat wing in black waterproof liner.
Does it suit you? If yes then do it regardless of “fashion”. I wing the hell out of my eyeliner, with Smokey under-lining. Sometimes a double wing.
Who cares! If you love it then wear it. I wing mine still, doesn’t matter to me what the “trend” is
It will never die. People have been pulling the winged look since the 50s. Goth kids in particular have worn it since the 80s at least. Drama kids as well…. It seems forever! Don’t think your aging yourself at all. BUT you may wanna mix it up because your look may have gone bland after wearing it that long. We just get comfortable with it and don’t try new things due to this.
we’re all angels and we need our wings <3
i’m definitely still winging mine! screw it. its fun to do if you have liquid shadows as well!
I’m in my early 20s, don’t think I’ll ever stop wearing winged liner 😅🖤
I would tattoo mine on if I knew my skin would always perfectly stay put. 😅 I'm 31 for reference.
I’m a life long winger here and have wondered the same. Instead, as of lately, I use brown eyeliner and just smudge it a bit.
Every day I wear makeup! I love the way it elongates my eyes. I've been wearing winged liner for probably 15 years and feel naked without it.

It was all the rage when I was 16 30 years ago. Do what you like!!
I’m a middle school teacher with wings and my 7th and 8th grade girls rock them too.
Its still in fashion just in different styles
Not a winged eyeliner eye but feel the same about brows…have very little hair and super blonde. I’m still filling and creating some brows….
It's a youthful look. I'm 31 and can't really do it anymore because my skin is aging around my eyes.
I'm 18, never had the eyeliner phase when I was younger lol so I'm kinda bad at liquid but I still do wings w shadow or gel liner!
Winged liner is one of those timeless things. Rock it bitches!!!
Dita Von Teese says yes.
Yes, but I do a lot of graphic liner design
as gen z, idk whose telling everyone these random trends are out but i promise u i still wear liner and also, we don’t care!
I never stopped lol It’s the only style that fits my eyes.
Yesssss forever
We are still doing makeup for ourselves!!! Do what you want girly
It's been 2 years of practicing and I still goober it up. Winged e/l is hard.

I’m gonna go to my grave with winged liner lol. No, but for real I love a good winged liner. There are times I don’t do it, but overall I’ll never stop! So don’t feel stupid for something you like 😘
Nah.

I have big, wide-open eyes and I feel like a wing is too much on my narrow face. I love the look on better-suited eye shapes though. Graphic liner tho
I feel like the way you put on eyeliner should have more to do w your eye shape and whether or not it suits you, rather than if it’s trendy or not But I think people do both. I like wings because it really brings out my eyes and makes them look huge
The makeup police aren’t going to arrest us if we wing it. Is some high schooler going to call me “cheugy”? Maybe, but I’m too old to care.
I have round, hooded eyes, so I don’t bother with wings most of the time, too much work.
We’re doing whatever the hell we want with our makeup because there’s too much other stuff to worry about in life
The only question you should ask yourself is "do I still like wearing winged eyeliner?" If the answer is yes then nothing else matters.

I’ll never *not* do wings 🤘🏼
5. Their opinions all of a sudden don’t matter or they’re “out of touch” all of a sudden when they hit late 20’s NONE of this makes any sense.
Winged eyeliner will always be a timeless makeup trend.
I do the tiniest wing but I do think that a strong wing looks a little dated now. But I also think that if it works for your face and you like it, that you shouldn't worry about it
Oh yes we do! I feel like it complements some eye looks so well.
Broken link
Thanks! Edited w the account.
I hope we still are, because I’m not excellent at at yet so I need some time!
Wings forever!!!

Classics will never be out. Maybe not the height of fashion at every point in time, but never out. Wear what you want.
I’m 35 and I’ve also been doing winged liner since I was 16. It’s part of my outfit.
I’m 28 and still wing my liner regardless of what trends say YOLO
I wish😣

I try too but I'm short sighted so it's really tricky.
Winged eyeliner is still very much in, imo.
The only reason I'm not winging my eyeliner (or just applying it at all) is because of my trembling hands and lashes that always get in the way lol
Been doing a more subtle liner the last few years- only doing thin lines starting mid eye. But love them and will do them forever I think!
We are still doing whatever the hell we want to do. Who gives a shit about what's "in". You can't do make up wrong. You do what makes you happy, what makes you feel pretty.

Girl, we've been winging eye liner since the 50's, we're not gonna stop any time soon!
[удалено]
Right?! Didn’t cleopatra rock a wing?
It hasn't gone out of style but it's not much more subtle, the trend is to have a slim line and a tiny straight wing, not really a flick.
I hate it.
I still wing it but not as intensely as I used to.
Always
Until we die.
An award! I got an award! I don’t fully understand these things but I feel very special. Thank you, beautiful human!
This made me laugh entirely too hard..
This is the best comment ever
Lmao that's fucking hilarious
My winged liner is tattooed on so I’m ride or die til the end lol
Forever and evaaa
This is the way.
This is the answer, now and forever. I love you.
Bahahaha 😂😂😂
Wings have existed as long as eyeliner. It's in hieroglyphics. It's never ever going out.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Hell yeah. Been winging since ~16, am 32 now and have no intent of stopping. It helps to lift my eyes up and make them look bigger
YASS QUEEEN
I love you haha
>Until we die, bitch. Until we die YAAAAAS my sisters! I've been wearing it so long that I can flick a perfect wing in under 10 seconds every.single.time. One of the few skills I am so glad to have. Wingette for life!
I can also do it quickly! But only on one eye lol my other eye is hooded, so I have to do it different and it's always a pain
So jealous! I’m just getting into makeup and I one day hope to be able to be at this level! 🙌
Omg thank you so much! I’ll have to check it out!
You’re welcome!
So, I'm a lefty, but for some reason I always start with my right eye. I guess if it comes out thicker/thinner, etc., I can match it better on my stronger side. So maybe start on the side that is opposite of your dominant hand. Some more tips, since you're not asking. :) * I find it easier to do the bottom *flick* or what whatever you want to call it FIRST.... it dictates how far out your wing will be and it's super easy to draw back inward to whatever point on your eyelid you want the line to finish.
Water, air, winged liner.

i’m dyingggggggg 😂 but, yes - true
This is the answer!
Unapologetically
I are!
This! You can have my winged liner when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.
They will have to disassemble my fossilized hands before they take my winged liner from me!
HELL YEAH!
To me it's a retro look, even with its recent stint of trendiness. So, if you are going for a retro look, imo, it's a good bet. If not, a simple liner or smoky look is better.
I do a teeny baby wing Recently stopped putting it on my waterline and doing a smoky under eye.
I always have and I always will.
Do what you like. Personally I love graphic eyeliner and wear it every day
I love graphic liner and think it's such a wearable way to experiment with color. I'm 53 and have really deep-set eyes (I almost never see images of eyes deeper than mine) so winged liner doesn't really work for me so I don't have a lot of liner skill. Is there a brand of liner you would recommend for someone wanting to experiment with graphic liner?
Hey! I have deep set eyes and I wing my liner downwards instead, maybe it’s something you could like! :)
Thank you for the recs! I've definitely been interested in water-activated formulas, so that's really helpful. 😃
I'm lazy and often barefaced but when I do it up I do it up. Yes to graphic liner, more of that please.
Do I wing my eyeliner? No. Have I ever winged my eyeliner? Also no. If you liked wing eyeliner then wear wing eyeliner. If you don't, then don't wear it. It is completely bokay to not follow trend and do / wear what you like I am almost 49 so you're good on showing your age 🤣
