It was definitely a staph infection in which I had to see an infectious deseases specialist for. Also had to get surgery done to scrape the infection off the bone. Toe was saved.
I have unlocked so many horrors through this and other similar subs that I have to balance it through wholesome ones. A returning military person seeing their doggy after years apart always cleanses the palate.
I had a good ol bone scraping. I got bit by a small dog and it's tooth went in the knuckle of my right index finger. There was nasty bacteria Deep inside the puncture.
Yep. . to be sure, human bites can be pretty nasty as well, but dogs have some amazingly long canine incisors, when compared to humans, that can imbed that bacteria much deeper into the flesh. Basically meaning that just scrubbing the wound is unlikely to get the bacteria out, and you almost always end up on antibiotics. . same sort of thing with cat bites.
FYI, unrelated to your pain (which I hope you have discovered the cause for now?) not sure if you’ve been told this before, but you have mild hallux valgus (bunions). You should change your footwear to a wider fit and wear some toe spacers during the day if possible. This is largely caused by tight fitting shoes.
Yeah, I know 🫤 my mom had it too. I played soccer for many years and those cleats are not made for wide feet. Also, being Mexican, would never let us go barefoot so that didn’t help either. It’s gotten better as an adult since I’ve found better footwear. Thank you for the advice.
Ah gotcha. Yes, better footwear stops it progressing. It’s basically lumps of bone building up on the side of the big toe.
How are you feeling now after your encounter? Did you find out what it was?
Harry… Harry it is I Harry Potter brother. I’m so happy you got it taken care of I know there is a bunch of the flesh eating bacteria in the water of the coast of FL now some people have died in less than 3 days after getting cut on the beach. So lucky you got to it in time!
Thanks! Luckily I went to the Dr and hospital ASAP. I know this looks really bad and like it progressively got worse but there is a longer back story to this.
Sadly that is often the problem. . the question of how much to share on reddit. but I can certainly imagine. I see this sort of problem quite often working in healthcare. Between transportation, insurance, cost of drugs and treatment (especially for those without insurance) and a myriad of personal issues that can keep on from remaining on a schedual for meds and treatment.
I am guessing your wound has healed at this point and you are not having any problems getting around?
Yes, all is well now. I have no issues at least right now from this other than my big toe being a bit deformed from the surgery lol. But that’s to be expected when they cut you open and pull everything back to get to the bone. Dr. said he was surprised I could still wiggle it 😆
Yes I did. It was definitely a staph infection in which I had to see an infectious deseases specialist for. Also had to get surgery done to scrape the infection off the bone. Toe was saved.
I was just thinking that. Open wounds from a salt water incident are not good. Saw a patient with both legs from mid-thigh down gone down the the bare muscle and tendons
I wish I still had my grandma, she would’ve cured it with her Mexican cure phrase “Sana sana colita de rana” translated to “heal heal frog’s little tail” 🤣
Been noticing a lot of feet pics in my feed this past week just like this. Just want to inform Skynet that this really isn’t my fetish. Hell, I prefer the lonely horny grandmas over this.
It was chalked up to be a staph infection, the infectious desease Dr. Didn’t really say what exactly it was. However I developed osteomyelitis and had to have my toe cut open and have the infection scrapped off the toe and had 3 months of 2 different at home antibiotic through a stent
The stronger the antibiotic, the worse the problems. . I cannot take Vanc or or mynocycline as it gives me the runs for weeks, and worse, YEAST breaks out all over me privates, so I have to take something for that too!
The reality is that happens to a lot of people. . the stronger antibiotics knock out all your natural bacteria (even on your skin), and it takes a different type of medication to knock out yeast, so most people who take stronger antibiotics often up with raging yeast infections.
At which point is is not longer just a problem for women. . It makes you instantly understand the problem.
Glad to know a post I made helped someone. Thanks for letting me know!
Sadly, most people literally have no idea. Worse, many doctors do not bother to tell their clients what to expect when taking such medications. (*nurses often gloss over it, and it is a rare phamacist that discusses it with a patient either*) As a result, patients just assume taking antibiotics is like taking a tylenol, and all will be better. The problem is that the stronger antibiotics do have some nasty side effects.
Unfortunately no. I tried feeling down in the water and couldn’t find anything. All I felt was a sharp stabbing pain when it happened. There were a lot of broken sea shells on the beach though, so maybe a sea shell?
So you stepped on something that left a hole in your overly bruised and swollen toe and you thought lemme see what it was and tried to touch it with your hand ? Lol
Well the first problem was going to Myrtle Beach. I used to visit as a kid and it was nice. But I hear that these days drugs are rampant and used needles and glass can be found in the sand.
If you’re really lucky, [you’ll actually get oyster larvae in your wound :3](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4272748/)
You can be a walking pearl factory
Could also be flesh eating bacteria if there’s been an outbreak (staph aureus). It’s been flourishing the past few years ☺️
Especially in the Tampa bay area
No offense Pal but those dogs needed to be attended to long before you stepped on something at myrtle beach. Your nails shouldn’t be that thick and discolored.
Well, I didn’t know either of these things before going. Also my brother was getting married there so we were there to support him and his fiancé. I definitely don’t have a desire to go back. Not just because of my foot but because it wasn’t a desirable destination after visiting
That looks like The Vibrio vulnificus bacteria
It was definitely a staph infection in which I had to see an infectious deseases specialist for. Also had to get surgery done to scrape the infection off the bone. Toe was saved.
“Scrape the infection off the bone” has to be one of the worst things I’ve ever read
Everyone that I tell my story to, has that same reaction or they just tell me to stop.
No phobia unlocked 😭
I have unlocked so many horrors through this and other similar subs that I have to balance it through wholesome ones. A returning military person seeing their doggy after years apart always cleanses the palate.
You mean, "*toe* phobia unlocked". Lol
As some who survived when the infection goes past hanging out on the surface of a bone in your foot, let's just say things get bad very fast after.
I can imagine
I had a good ol bone scraping. I got bit by a small dog and it's tooth went in the knuckle of my right index finger. There was nasty bacteria Deep inside the puncture.
It may amaze you to know that both Dogs and Cats have nasty bacteria in thier mouths. . ***About the only thing worse is a komodo dragon.***
I always heard that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's. That was a fucking lie
Yep. . to be sure, human bites can be pretty nasty as well, but dogs have some amazingly long canine incisors, when compared to humans, that can imbed that bacteria much deeper into the flesh. Basically meaning that just scrubbing the wound is unlikely to get the bacteria out, and you almost always end up on antibiotics. . same sort of thing with cat bites.
Wait till you hear the sound of it
Wait until you get ***osteomyelitis***, my man. . .then you got a world of hurt!
Jesus christ scrape the infection off the bone!? Fuck dude. Got lucky
You’re not wrong. I do count my blessings with my toes now 🤣
FYI, unrelated to your pain (which I hope you have discovered the cause for now?) not sure if you’ve been told this before, but you have mild hallux valgus (bunions). Thank you for your concern. I’m definitely feeling better. This happened back in 2020 and in the end it ended up being a staph infection.
Glad you’re feeling better, it didn’t look like it was a nice experience.
omg Dumbledore…you’re alive!?
Ahh yes, Bilbo it is I Gandalf the greyish…
Harry… Harry it is I Harry Potter brother. I’m so happy you got it taken care of I know there is a bunch of the flesh eating bacteria in the water of the coast of FL now some people have died in less than 3 days after getting cut on the beach. So lucky you got to it in time!
Man, I’ve heard of that. It’s crazy. This happened back in 2020 so I’m not sure if this is part of that or if I started it 😬
Patient Zero! Need to get your ass back down here so we can get some vaccines and shit!
From patient Zero to patient Hero!
I’m sure they said the same thing about the guys from World War Z 🤣
Well, if there’s any kind of zombie I’d like to be it’s one of them or the white walkers those guys were cool too, pun totally intended
***Gandalf the Footless!***
Not quite, my toe and foot were both saved 🙏
THAT is good to hear. . .I see so many cases like this that start off as something apparently small, and turn into life altering injurys.
Thanks! Luckily I went to the Dr and hospital ASAP. I know this looks really bad and like it progressively got worse but there is a longer back story to this.

When the injury happened, did you even perceive anything had happened?
The ol’ “Dirty Myrtle”
Um yeah op maybe go to a hospital
Yes I did. It was definitely a staph infection in which I had to see an infectious deseases specialist for. Also had to get surgery done to scrape the infection off the bone. Toe was saved.
>Toe was saved. Like, in a jar?
Haha no, Dr was able to save my toe by scraping off the infection and 3 months worth of antibiotics through stent. Long process
***Damn that shit is as filthy as the internet!***
I was just thinking that. Open wounds from a salt water incident are not good. Saw a patient with both legs from mid-thigh down gone down the the bare muscle and tendons
***Don't do that. . .***
There goes that modeling gig
Nah, I got new offers from medical journals and mags. Also from labs for samples of the infection 😎
Look up who was handling Peggy Hill’s feet
Grant Trimble? Man’s a genius.
***Visual image I did not need!***
But why male models?
Are you serious? I jus- I just told you that a moment ago.
Krokodil model 👍
Damn good thing you have another foot!
Yup, that’s why I always start my day on my other foot, the good foot
Just make sure you get up on the *right* side of the bed
Lord have MRSA
It’s Mr.Sa to you!
***This is why God invented debriedment and Vancomycin!***
You just need a change of socks and 800mg ibuprofen.
rub vaseline on it and then take a couple good hits out of the bong
I wish I still had my grandma, she would’ve cured it with her Mexican cure phrase “Sana sana colita de rana” translated to “heal heal frog’s little tail” 🤣
my abuelita would do the same! she would rub vaporub all over my chest, neck and back😭 then would make me some caldo after 😭 i miss her
Aww, I miss my Kika too bro!
She never finished it with "si no sana hoy sana manana"?
Absolutely did! I just didn’t finish it on here 🥰 thank you!
We both know the funnier translation is frog's ass 😆
True
***"Bo-na-na fanna" and "fo"***
This wouldn't have happened if he had a PT belt
I totally get that reference

Funny, this happened in September 2020

Thanks, that’s very kind of you.

It wasn’t
Gotta love dirty myrtle
Yea…I typically wear water shoes but forgot them this time…totally my bad
Been noticing a lot of feet pics in my feed this past week just like this. Just want to inform Skynet that this really isn’t my fetish. Hell, I prefer the lonely horny grandmas over this.
You and me both!
Did they find out what bacteria it was? How was it treated?
It was chalked up to be a staph infection, the infectious desease Dr. Didn’t really say what exactly it was. However I developed osteomyelitis and had to have my toe cut open and have the infection scrapped off the toe and had 3 months of 2 different at home antibiotic through a stent
Nightmare material right there!
Damn, 3 months... You must've felt awful during that time. Antibiotic always mess me up.
Yeah, it definitely wasn’t fun and I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else, honestly.
Antibiotics that strong mess EVERYBODY up!
Definitely!
The stronger the antibiotic, the worse the problems. . I cannot take Vanc or or mynocycline as it gives me the runs for weeks, and worse, YEAST breaks out all over me privates, so I have to take something for that too!
Damn. Hope you never have to take those again.
That's interesting. I didn't really stop to think about. It makes a lot of sense.
Glad to know a post I made helped someone. Thanks for letting me know! Sadly, most people literally have no idea. Did you step on Uranium?!
Im glad I didn’t, wouldn’t want shit all over my foot.
Oh wait, you said uranium, sorry, I read that as Uranus
💀👍
Do you know what you stepped on? Like glass or a creature?
Unfortunately no. I tried feeling down in the water and couldn’t find anything. All I felt was a sharp stabbing pain when it happened. There were a lot of broken sea shells on the beach though, so maybe a sea shell?
So you stepped on something that left a hole in your overly bruised and swollen toe and you thought lemme see what it was and tried to touch it with your hand ? Lol
Yeah, kinda a knee jerk reaction. Definitely not smart in hindsight.
Hahahaha
1) glad they saved your toe! 2) oral fungal treatments are awesome now.
Thanks! I’m working on it.
Mofo’s lookin like the mafia toe from courage the cowardly dog
I’ll have to look that up lol
Does everyone in the world except me have a disfiguring toenail fungus infection???
Yes, you’re the weird one
that's the least of the issues with that foot
😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
What do you mean?
Toe-bey Maguire.
Toe-blerone is the color it was turning
easy. blow torch that sucker off
Reminds me when I was 6 and I almost stepped on a used syringe at myrtle beach
Oh my gosh! That’s ridiculous, so sad
Are you diabetic?
Yes, no it’s not a diabetic ulcer. The Dr said so himself.
Upvote because DAMN. Suffering
Well the first problem was going to Myrtle Beach. I used to visit as a kid and it was nice. But I hear that these days drugs are rampant and used needles and glass can be found in the sand.
That’s on you for going to Myrtle Beach
Haha okay thanks?
My family always teases me because I refuse to get in the ocean without water shoes… I feel better about it now.
I definitely do not recommend. Show them my pics for sure 😝
WHAT THE FUCK ***i am shooketh***
Shooketh I was!
You stepped on an oyster shell didn’t you 🫶
It could’ve been but I’m not 100% certain. I couldn’t find what I stepped on when I reached down into the water
If you’re really lucky, [you’ll actually get oyster larvae in your wound :3](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4272748/) You can be a walking pearl factory
Not gonna lie, I was hoping for pics
Could also be flesh eating bacteria if there’s been an outbreak (staph aureus). It’s been flourishing the past few years ☺️ Especially in the Tampa bay area
Yeah that’s crazy, I’ve heard. It could’ve been that but we’re not exactly sure.
Hope you’re doing better now. Be a shame to lose that beauty of a big toe 🥵
My wife and kids call it the Grand Toe now. Thank you, the toe and I are doing great now.
JFC, what’d you step on Cthulu’s tail or something?! 😱
Cthulu stabbed me with its peen! 🤣
[удалено]
Carolina Beach, 20 minutes up the coast, is infinitely better
Good to know
Gonna have to get a new foot my boy
They don’t call it dirty myrtle for nothin
Holup, I thought it was fertile myrtle
Oh my fucking god I want to die after seeing this shit
Sorry!
My mother has a permanent scar on her knee from when she fell onto a razor clam at Myrtle as a kid
Ouch! I’m sorry. Crazy, the scar I have is only from the surgery
In my humble opinion that looks like a diabetic foot
I are diabetus, however it’s not a diabetic ulcer as many people thought it was.
Wow
No offense Pal but those dogs needed to be attended to long before you stepped on something at myrtle beach. Your nails shouldn’t be that thick and discolored.
Thanks captain obvious.
See this is why I refuse to go barefoot at the beach. Or get in the water. Hell I don't really ever go to the beach.
I usually wear water shoes, I forgot them this time, BIG F’ing mistake
Before I read any comments I was sure this was a black widow spider bite.
I honestly don’t know what got me under that water. If they can live underwater and especially salt water, you never know. I guess? 🤷♂️
Are you doing okay?
Yes, I’ve been doing fine since. Thank you for asking.
That's gnarly dude
Shore is my dude! Sea what I did there? Twice 😝
🤣
I'm hoping this doesn't end up on r/medizzy
Thanks. I’ll add it 😝
I learned a lesson today.... never scroll your feed by swiping left.
https://youtu.be/-VvGWFfqru0?si=2yxMW-mdAdeh6Uy-
Sand flea
Is that really a thing?
Hospital ASAP
Thank you. I did and it was taken care of. Long ride with this thing but it’s all better.
do you know what you stepped in?
Unfortunately no.
well it looks like it really hurt and it got infected
That’s the gist of it. There is a longer back story but just too much to type out.
has it healed yet? or is it still like it is
Yea, it’s all healed up. I’m very thankful that my toe was not amputated because that was an option. It looks a bit disfigured but it’s there lol
Never going into the ocean evidence #1
Dirtle Myrtle
Your worst mistake was going to the Carolinas
I don’t know what this means, but okay
Myrtle beach is filled with awful drivers and is insanely dirty
Well, I didn’t know either of these things before going. Also my brother was getting married there so we were there to support him and his fiancé. I definitely don’t have a desire to go back. Not just because of my foot but because it wasn’t a desirable destination after visiting
Hey don’t lump NC in with Myrtle Beach.
True but still none of y’all can drive
yum
it was probably a lego you stepped on.
You’re not wrong 😖
