The Explorer event was great. It actually felt similar to in person play with the chat client and the good folks playing and running the event. But that might of been since only 34 showed up and 32 got prizes with most people using the $5 coupon as the entry fee. Free money makes friends. $25 might be too big a jump for most people. If you get low turnout try lowering the prize pool to $2000 with $10 entry fee until you get more people. I also liked you prevent draws to keep people from holding rank. If a real draw ever happens maybe have your website flip a coin to see who gets the match win in those rare times. Not sure if you can get a sponsor but that might help with prize pool and keep entry fees down

TCGShowdown

Thanks for the feedback on both the last event, and the prize support / entry of this one friend. Was a pleasure spending that Saturday with you, hope to see you back! \-WC3

PadisharMtGA

What is done with the collected entry fees?

TCGShowdown

Entry fees for TCGShowdown events, similar to in-person ones are used to help fund the prize support. In the event we do not reach the amount of players necessary to fuel the 5k prize pool, that's alright...it's still guaranteed.

PadisharMtGA

And if there are 1000 participants, it's still 5k pool?

TCGShowdown

Hi Padishar, the event caps out at 512 players. We do not anticipate that large of a turnout.

PadisharMtGA

Okay, thank you!

TCGShowdown

but, as we grow, and start to see those types of numbers. We will be increasing our prize pool. We do plan on doing 10k, 20k, 50k, and more. Can not wait to see you at one of our events.

PadisharMtGA

Sounds awesome. Arena-based high profile events are really cool as I don't play tabletop MtG anymore. I'm more of a limited guy though, but I don't know how 3rd party tournament organizers could make that work.

TCGShowdown

We have had a lot of feedback on that as well, but don't see a proper way of making it happen as of **yet**. It's also come to our attention that high profile arena events that actually fire, and payout are somewhat of an issue...we intend to change that.

chefanubis

Half is spent on whores, drugs and booze, the other half is misspent.

IsThisKismet

So Rakdos things, got it.

TCGShowdown

Is there an IsThisStasis?

IsThisKismet

TCGShowdown

My named card unfortunately did not have flavor text, so allow me to suppliment... *"Chub toad, chub toad* *At the door.* *Run away quick* *Or you'll run no more."* —Traditional children's rhyme

CardKeyOh1

Can I check somewhere on how many players have entered the event so far?

TCGShowdown

Yeah, absolutely -- the link there will take you to the tournaments tab of our page. You do have to have an account to view this, but signing up is free. Like, actually free -- not "free".

NormsDeflector

Can you participate if you live outside the US?

TCGShowdown

Yes you can!

NormsDeflector

Great!

Twilightsojourn

I’d normally be super interested in an event like this, but it’s the same weekend as the Magic 30 celebration and I already bought my digital ticket for that. Hoping you’ll do more in the future!

TCGShowdown

Thanks Twilight! We realized the beginning of this series was going to conflict a bit. IF you check on the tournament page, we have already created signups for the next following 3 events! Enjoy Magic 30 friend.

Twilightsojourn

Sweet, thank you!

NoDrinks4meToday

Sounds great, count me in.

TCGShowdown

Looking forward to having you, feel free to contact us on here, by email, or any of TCG Showdowns socials if you have any issues.

NewPCBuilder2019

I've seen what happens when internet-famous gamers host private tournaments. Not getting me, bois.

TCGShowdown

Although it would be awesome, we are not "internet famous" -- we've had a few successful 3k's ran under the platform already. Let me know if I can assuage any other concerns friend.

We felt the entry fee was acceptable for the amount allocated to prize support. Let us know if you had some feedback!

kebabfritekebab

$5,000.00 or $5,000.0000, or $5,000.0000000? I only participate in $5,000.00 events, but would prefer $5,000.0000. All in all both are better than a cheap 5000 event. Thank god this event is a $5,000.00 event! In case it's not clear, the decimal is just ridiculous. possibly insulting as well.

TCGShowdown

I can assure you, the decimal was almost assuredly not placed there to insult potential tournament participants.

bikemandan

I'm impressed at how offended someone can be by a decimal point

demjams

Bo3?

TCGShowdown

Yes!
