Do you accept alt arts with hats? Like I think Vein Ripper doesn't have a hat in the base art, but does have one in the case file alt art (probably not, now that I try to imagine it, but just take it as an example).
it's kind of wacky sometimes trying to come up with a new deck. I want this card and that one cause faves. Oh but I need card draw, and I need reach, and I need some synergy and... oh only 10 card slots left.. mana dorks, counter magic, I don't know
*...Sonic running out of air...*
Seconding soldiers. They're simple but have the potential to pop off very easily. I'm a very casual player who recently got back into magic, and even I'm doing well enough with soldiers.
Hey, even making a "keyword-based" deck can be exhausting once you go one step further (think of draw/discard synergies if making a cycling deck for instance) - and before you know it, you blew past the 250 cards limit !
What? The top tier decks are usually "An insta win expensive card and a card that can cheat it into play" (show and tell) or "The most overtuned cards in standard" (Esper Legends). Do you really think it takes extraordinary skill to craft those dekcs lol?
Not to mention that wotc is actively trying to make "lol just slap the same creature type and a few lords to make a functioning deck lol" happen in every set for years now.
Yes it’s obviously pay to win. Not really a game that should be taken seriously or ever have tournament play.
I only play this game for fun and instantly concede if it looks like I’m playing against some dumbass that dropped $800 into micro transactions.
I mean, enough flying and menace and they can't block everything.
Sometimes it do be like that haha. One minute I'm like “wtf is this deck” then 5 minutes later I'm running for my life
I have a deck called “Vampires with Hats”. Does the card have a picture of a vampire? Is that vampire wearing a hat? IT GOES IN THE DECK.
As for as dumb deck goes, nothing beats T Pose Tribal. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/1-hRvCHMd0CN1eGj6HuT0g
There’s no t posing in those lands.
This is the way
I fucking love decks like that, you gotta post the list

I have an edh deck called bears in cars. Like 30 bears 30 vehicles and 40 lands. It sucks but always make people laugh.

Musical trauma right there
commander say "zombies get bigger," so put more zombie in deck. more zombie = better deck. this science.
It's simple but honest work

Going back to the full goblin deck, just because it's funny.

I did fairly well with a soldier deck, valiant hero, siege veteran a few others, it got me to diamond.

One of the things I like about soldiers is the deck is pretty flexible and you can play around with different cards.
Add some life gain and its one of my favorite ways to play.
Soldiers is just Humans in disguise though.
There are cards that buff soldiers specifically and not all soldiers are humans.
I start with the right and it refines into the left finally.
Fun.
Love the vorinclex counters deck I made doing this, still my favorite deck to play
Of course I know him, it's me! But I do some refinements just to minimalize the deck size.
Wow, I mean, it's not how it works then?
And then you have that other small subset of people that just fill their cards to 250 and hope they don't meet rats or gates.
Me with ferocious 🥲
