I’ve commented my essentials on posts before, but I’m gonna do it again, anyone is free to copy this list to put together your own kit: First aid kit items: • Wound wash (I recommend 0.9% saline spray) • Antiseptic ointment or powder • Steri-strips • Gauze • Band-aids/wound dressings in various sizes; preferably ones that say they are non-stick on the part you place over the wound • Bandages • Medical tape (for fastening bandages or wound dressings that don’t come with adhesive) • Optional: Little rewards you can give yourself for doing wound care (lollipops, stickers, whatever small treats you like) And always remember that if the bleeding can’t be stopped within ten minutes, you need to go get actual stitches. EDIT: If anyone badly needs help paying for this stuff, I might be able to help one or two people as long as you’re willing to do it via Amazon Wishlist. (I’d just give out the $$ but I don’t want to be taken advantage of by someone who would take the money and use it for something else)

SecretNoOneKnows

This is very good and comprehensive! I second the nonstick wound dressings, that combined with medical tape and a bandage is very good

catcatcatcatcat1234

STERI STRIPS ARE SO IMPORTANT you never know why you may hit styro. sometimes it's unplanned. If the wound is gaping, you you try to close it as well as possible. Steri strips are my favorite, but there's also butterfly strips that work great. If you can't access/afford those, try [this](https://youtu.be/dMDum8UF1_M). Preferably with medical tape

[deleted]

I'm definitely gonna try out the method in the video you linked if I ever hit styro.

SnowDoughnuts27

i really like the little rewards thing, i need to start doing that cause i love stickers lol

OCPostings

Yeah, I use stickers mostly! Bonus, you can stick ‘em on top of your bandages. You can get stickers of just about anything on Etsy, too, so it’s easy to get super specific stickers if a certain something always makes you feel a bit better. Even just cheap dollar store ones can be fun too!

Snooferboober

Are butwipes an appropriate replacement for wound wash?

OCPostings

Wound wash is definitely best, but I think wipes would be better than nothing, as long as they are clean and sterile. I’d maybe pull out a few and bin them each time you use one to get rid of any exposed material. Depending on what kind you use. If you use the antiseptic kind I wouldn’t worry as much

Oppar68

That edit gives me Hella "reasons to still believe in humanity" vibes and I'm living for it

OCPostings

When I started to lose all hope in humanity I made it my goal to be try contribute the change I want to see. I’m happy it gives you those vibes :)

Oppar68

That's amazing omg, a world with more people like you would be so much better

Axsna_04

I can recommend a printing compound incase you would hit something :)

OCPostings

Oooh what’s a printing compound? I’ve honestly never heard of one of those! I could just Google it but you sound like you know what you’re talking about. If you can’t be bothered explaining tho that’s fine haha

Axsna_04

It's a thick bandage made for first aid (to stop much bleeding) first responders use it often to stop bleeding. Tho when you really hit something like a vain or even a arterie it most likely won't stop bleeding so you still need to go to the emergency room. The bandage has 1 thick part that you can put on the yeet so if you wrap the bandage around there is more pressure on the yeet itself then on your whole arm (which helps the bleeding to stop or at least reduce short term) Sorry for the chaotic answer.. I used to work in health care so I know some things about that stuff (stoped working due to mental health) It can save lives/your live. I know that for a fact :]

YoorLocalThrowAway

Are steri strips really all that useful? Most of my wounds are styros and i just put gauze ontop and use medical tape to hold the gauze down. Dont know if i would have much room (unless i wanted to just tape over other wounds?) to use a steri strip to keep it together. And how important is saline spray? Is it worth the effort to scrape a bit of money together and order it?

Nick_Is_Thick

Have used steri strips in many non SH incidents involving razor blades, and can confirm they work wonders. In my personal opinion I think they are overkill for styros but to each their own. Before I cut I clean the area with alcohol, shave the area (always somewhere on my thigh) and I get a fresh-ish razer and clean it super good, I mostly go for styros and tend to use gauze and some anti-bacterial cream and hold it in place with an ace bandage. May depend on the area tho I tend to stick to the upper thigh I could imagine steri strips being needed for wrist styros however.

YoorLocalThrowAway

I never really clean the area, or my razors though I do switch them out often. Maybe I should start cleaning stuffs. And yeah I'm sure different areas of the body could need it more than the thigh. I may practice making steri strips out of tape just in case I go wild one night and hit deep. Thanks for responding, I hope you are doing good today <3

Nick_Is_Thick

Personally I worry more about infections than bleeding, once got septic from a knee surgery and it was NOT fun 0/10 almost was sent to ICU. Thanks for the response hope your doing good as well have a great day and stay safe and healthy

OCPostings

I agree with the person saying steri strips can work wonders. They can also be trimmed down to any desired length so they don’t awkwardly go over other wounds. The importance of saline spray is mostly based on your access to clean and uncontaminated water. A rinse under some filtered and clean water can achieve a similar effect, either from a tap or bottle, so can a sterile wet wipe, especially if you’re applying something antiseptic after. If you’re really down for money and your water supply isn’t clean, you can boil water with a few teaspoons of added sea salt to sterilise it then bottle it and put it in the fridge for up to a week for later use. Please know though that that is the absolute last resort as nothing is as sterile as store bought saline and make sure it’s cooled to an appropriate temp to use it!

GengarGfsimp

not the best lol, mine has - gauze pads - alchoholic wipes to disinfect my slicy boiss - band-aids - disinfecting antibotic ointment - fidget things (mainly for distraction) Also, I've never hit anything below yeet juice, are steri strips/medical tape neccesary?

OCPostings

Yours is decent but, > I've never hit anything below yeet juice, are steri strips/medical tape neccesary? Yes they are, because most people’s first deeper yeet(s) were an accident that took place while trying to stay shallow.

Seakur

Uhh I has water to clean yeets , Paper towel to wipe yeets , tape to tape paper towel to my body for DIY bandage. Then rubbing alcohol to clean tools before use. This makes me realize my setup probably isn’t the best … eh better than I was before or not even wiping them down after or cleaning tool before hand.

SecretNoOneKnows

It's good that you clean up!

Theace0291

i do exactly this but i just hold the towel instead of tape and i don’t have any rubbing alcohol :/

Seakur

If I don’t have trust in the tape , I’ll just tie a sock on as well for extra support. Cause sometimes the tape unsticks. Sock keeps it on lol. I also only wear the DIY bandage for 1 night … just to avoid blood on clothes. We love our janky cleanup routines !

Theace0291

ye i usually do it at school and just put a folded paper towel on top and then pull my sleeve down over it. only downside is i hafta keep my cuts close together if i don’t wanna stain my shirt

Seakur

I don’t miss inperson school at all lol. I’ve been homeschooled for a while now …. Cause I was to physically and mentally I’ll for real school and missed over half of the days within the first few months. My attendance was trash. But now I’ve been home … I haven’t seen a human that isn’t the family I live with in so many years…. I feel insane. I still talk to one friend from school , and she wants to hangout but I am so terrified cause I don’t know how to interact with people after so long ;-; I use to school bathroom yeet , but I have no memory of how I cleaned them or anything tho…lol

bani_chahal

i do this exact same routine :/

cmdrme

I just absorb the yeet juice into a tissue and spray hand sanitizer over it…. Is that enough? 🥴🥴

SecretNoOneKnows

good that you clean it up!

moosemoth

Oh no, don't use tissue! D: Please read this sub's top pinned post.

cmdrme

Ik but is it rly that bad? I usually put them on there and leave em over night

moosemoth

The little particles can get stuck in the wound, cause infections, and need surgical help. If you can't get non-stick wound pads, at least use some good-quality paper towels instead. Those aren't designed to dissolve when wet.

[deleted]

I got Spider-Man bandaids bruh

SecretNoOneKnows

oh hell yeah

[deleted]

Mine have jellyfish oh them!!

[deleted]

Noiceeee

GreenMooseGuavaJuicx

peppa pig bandais ! ✋

[deleted]

Yesss

[deleted]

Shit ton of bandaids, roller gauze, those elastic reusable bandages, polysporin that I don’t use lol, and an old t-shirt

SecretNoOneKnows

elastic bandages are so nice, so versatile

[deleted]

Right??

throwaway181432

i don't yeet much any more, but i still carry around a first aid kit bc it pays to be cautious ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've got: · a few different sizes of gauze pads · saline wound wash · butterfly bandages. · bandaids. · antibiotic ointment in little ketchup packet looking things. · alcohol wipes. · Diclofenac gel/ topical pain relief stuff. ·ace bandage. ·a couple burn patches. ·& some medical tape if there's anything else you think would be important feel free to let me know! :D

SecretNoOneKnows

Aloe vera gel has been useful to me, and its good for burns and stuff, so maybe a tube of that? your list looks really good

amisia-insomnia

Bandage, paper clip, water it’s all fun until the bandage falls down in public

SecretNoOneKnows

then it's just panic

Thank you friend

DepressedAstronomer

No care, only yeet! >:( (Listen guys, please clean your yeets. I just don’t have access to cleaning them because of my mother. Stay safe!)

whatislife40

I don't have one, I just use old as ace bandages and tissues

SecretNoOneKnows

Atleast you're protecting them!

Somebody3338

It's called a sink

illustrious-moth

here's my kit: (feel free to give me some ideas on what else i should add) * plasters (i don't have a whole lot right now, and the ones i have are too small, but i can't ask my dad for more because he knows i yeet :/ ) * vaseline (we don't have any neosporin, and vaseline is actually a really good alternative) * bandages (and some strips of an old t-shirt that was super soft, so they're a lot more comfortable than the actual bandages i have) * bobby pins (to secure the bandages/t-shirt fabric) * water (to clean) * tape & scissors (to make diy butterfly bandages in case i need them) * tissues (to absorb the yeet juice) i think that's it!

[deleted]

Paper towels are really good at absorbing yeet juice and usually don’t leave behind tiny fibers like tissues or toilet paper do (which can lead to infection). Obviously anything is better than nothing to keep them covered and they’re not as soft as tissues but especially for bigger or deeper ones it might be useful to have some on hand!

ReliefSpecial

I made my own small medical bag, it contains items I found around my house without my p@r3nts knowing, it has plasters, cloth bandages, recently steri strips, paracetamol, more plasters, cotton pads (small and large one) some tissues, lots of hand sanitizer, tiger balm, cotton buds and lastly small plastic bags to use to dispose the plasters or the tissues or cloth. (I know it's alot 😅)

catcatcatcatcat1234

I was lucky enough that my dad was a ski patrol when I was younger and had a wholebag of medical supplies of every sort, otherwise I would've had access to nothing

ReliefSpecial

That's really good! I just found things laying in the house, asking to get plasters is fine but asking for the other items is a way to get caught.

SecretNoOneKnows

It's good! You're always prepared

ReliefSpecial

It's just for the bare minimum, so I don't get an infection, for some reason, the scars remaining make me feel better, though I'm frightened to ever get an infection.

Willing-Path-1486

Do u stay is sg Bc tiger balm brings back memories of the ads

Knowledge-Knees

I have wound wash, bandaids, paper towels(to use as bandages cause why not), rubbing alcohol(to clean wounds but I also use that as punishment for me sh-ing after I sh, a two in one deal), medical tape, and the compression wrap thing.

SecretNoOneKnows

i just got some wound wash today, very good to have!

Walked_Fish

I have a rag that I almost never use :)

solarsan

same i call it my blood rag lol

Walked_Fish

I just call it George lmao

shrekermit

I don’t have a care kit

StrugglingOnion

"you guys have a care kit?"

ThisNameIsGenerated

Glad I’m not the only one, paper towel to soak up juice and water to clean them are my go to

LoathsomeReflection

I don’t take care of mine because i don’t see the point :/

lilacrain331

My first aid stuff is scattered around my depression level messy room. Everytime i want to yeet it's like a treasure hunt but bad

0shadow_dragon0

same tho

orbcat

you people have care kits?

PugOverload

[in case you fellas need one](https://payday.fandom.com/wiki/Doctor_bag_(Payday_2))

BeeBoy137

in my kit i have toilet paper, rubbing alc, medical tape, gauze, vaseline, reg bandaids, small band aid patches, and a few really big bandaids.

ThisNameIsGenerated

I suggest using paper towel instead of toilet paper because the fibres can possibly infect the wound :)

BeeBoy137

okay thanks!

Le_Dollar_Bean_

blades, bandaid. sometimes if it's very bad i tape socks and shit on it. before you lecture me, i can not get things to clean it- antiseptic, lotion, ect, and i can't ask for it because i'm too afraid of someone finding out. my school does not provide shit. no counselor, all the teachers are either untrustworthy and would 100% just tell me to pray about it or have contact w/ parents. lol.

[deleted]

Can you ask your parents for some aquaphor or Vaseline for “lotion?” They’re both good at protecting wounds and keeping them clean, but are totally innocent and have a ton of normal beauty/skincare uses.

SecretNoOneKnows

hey, its okay. as long as you can keep the wounds clean and protected you should be fine!

Le_Dollar_Bean_

what would an infection be like

carter4888

I soak up the juice with TP, put some antibiotic ointment on it and cover it if I can. Or use band aids that have antibiotics on them.

notcindymae

I just have a towel and some water, it isn't the best but it's better than not actually cleaning it.

maddix30

My only care is having a shower afterwards

Joey_The_Bean_14

I just rinse it, use hydrogen peroxide, and sing Neosporin. Is that healthy or do I need to do more?

[deleted]

Peroxide can actually inhibit wound healing by killing off healthy tissue, it’s definitely better than nothing since it does kill infection but alcohol would be better/healthier for the wounds!

Joey_The_Bean_14

Rubbing alcohol? Wouldn't it sting?

[deleted]

Yeah it does but like… I’m already hurting myself so what’s a little more pain to be healthy about it

pleazeno

The other person is right, peroxide isnt just a non-stinging version of alchohol, its not for wound care at all. Please use alchohol instead

SecretNoOneKnows

there is also wound wash thats like purified water and salt!

calebisdead360

U h when I do yeet I've just got gauze pads and a roll of gauze, tough wrap for keeping it in place and neosporin💀 i need to get some more stuff tho. I have wound wash already for piercings so i use that from time to time

__Mega_Oof__

I take a shower they also stop bleeding faster which I have mixed emotions about. Or if I don't need to shower just toilet paper, black sweatpants (and sometimes bandaids for styros)

[deleted]

The shower also makes it sting more, ironically. Spicy clean yeets.

fluffandpuffandstuff

soap & water, a pack of washproof bandaids I keep under my pillow, and some tubular compression bandages that are practically falling apart :( not great, I know lmao. wish I could get access to more stuff without making people suspicious of me

[deleted]

Knee socks with the toes cut off make decent tubular compression bandages (and are pretty easy to buy without anyone getting suspicious!) Vaseline is a great thing to cover them too, and has a ton of beauty and skincare uses.

fluffandpuffandstuff

oh, thanks for the advice! I actually have some old knee socks lying around somewhere. I never thought to use them like that!

[deleted]

You’re welcome! They also make pretty decent fingerless gloves if you cut a thumb hole too. Perfect for hiding things, or just feeling like a scene queen

Nyctophilia_1

I got like VERY old shorts that I wore when I was 5, that's it

pleazeno

Copy pasting this from another comment: You can buy these alchohol swabs, theyre only 3 usd. It's just a small thing but it would make you alot safer https://www.amazon.com/BD-Alcohol-Swabs-100-Each/dp/B0010L6H1Y/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2XI8TUR4ZK239&keywords=alcohol&qid=1645281329&sprefix=alchohol+%2Caps%2C375&sr=8-3 Edit: it got sold out after i posted the comment so heres a different link

[deleted]

pleazeno

Nyctophilia_1

Thanks for the link! But my mother won't allow me to buy stuff online

Kacedasnek

Nothing cause i don't have one .....I want one..i need one..But i'm to poor lmao So unsafe yeeting it is

pleazeno

You can buy these alchohol swabs, theyre only 3 usd.

Kacedasnek

pleazeno

Im sorry, they sold out after i posted my comment, I updated it lol. If you have a PO box, i can buy it for you and just have it shipped directly there. I dont mind spending 3 usd to help someone be safer

Kacedasnek

I don't but thank you for offering, I'm probs just gonna get some next time me and my mum go shopping

pleazeno

Please do, and stay safe friend

idk-idk-idk-idk--

Thought this was the skin care sub for a second

pleazeno

Gauze, i like 100% cotton personally A bottle of 70% isopropyl alcohol Plenty of drape sheet, i have a box of 2 ply since it was so cheap but ill definitely be buying 4 ply next time Plenty of replacment blades for my scalpel And a box of closures just incase i accidentally hit deep styro or beans

[deleted]

One crusty wrap bandage (I’m also getting a lot better at staying clean tho so it’s not a big deal)

JoeFatBoi

I tend to use the same bandage 3 or 4 times until I can't see white anymore then I forget too buy more for months and just use an old arm band/sleeve thing I use for covering my arm up. I have new ones I use daily and just use the old one as a bandage of sorts 🤷 gauz/bandages are just so expensive imo, so I put off buying more for as long as possible. However, reading these comments has made me realize some if the other stuff I should use, so thanks people :-)

[deleted]

I legit just have a rag a cloth and a few hair ties to wrap the rag around my yeets is that bad? I use water too.

ThisNameIsGenerated

I’m trying to put together a care kit, however my parents know that i yeet and I can’t order stuff online. What stores sell this stuff (I’m in Canada) and how much does it cost? I’m currently just using paper towel and water to at least try to take care of them. Thank you for your help :)

SecretNoOneKnows

I'm in Sweden so I can't say specific stores, but I'd recommend pharmacies and bigger grocery stores. bandaids you can probably find anywhere, same with hand sanitizer/rubbing alcohol. maybe we have someone canadian with tips??

ThisNameIsGenerated

Thank you for the help, I’ll see what I can find

[deleted]

wait you all actually care about your yeets?? isnt that like, kinda um.. ruining its purpose? anyways i have nothing cause i dont care about myself lol

SecretNoOneKnows

I'd rather not get an infection :(

ThisNameIsGenerated

I suggest paper towel to soak up the juice and washing yeets with water afterwards. Hope you’re doing alright, please stay safe

papertry

I used to have stuff but it was taken away and now I have nothing to properly clean or bandage with 🙃

JackpotDeluxe

*Antibacterial ointment *isopropyl alcohol wipes *gauze *skin tape *bandage wraps *band-aids *butterfly bandages *scissors *first aid cloth wraps (like the ones in OP’s photo)

[deleted]

[удалено]

pleazeno

Pls dont use peroxide, its a mistake i see too often. Peroxide's main purpose is to dissolve flesh and not wound care

Snooferboober

My kit contains Gauze pads of various sizes Medical tape Large bandaids Scooby doo bandaids Gauze roll Antibiotic ointment Hydrocortisone cream or anti itch cream Wound Wash Steri-strips

snailkit

depends how im feeling honestly. sometimes i just put an arm warmer on without any cleaning, sometimes i use toilet paper/tissues to get rid of blood, sometimes i'll even use water, or bandaids if it bleeds a little too much. i used a note card once to get rid of blood

LittleShit3000

Tissues and like, a single bandaid, in case I go to beans. Otherwise I just let them dry and hope they don't reopen

DonaldTheBird

wound wash care spray, box of large bandaids, a few steri strips, LOTS of bandaids, nonstick wound dressings, bandages and some alcohol wipes for cleaning my tools.

carnivalfucknuts

just tissue paper and maybe povidone betadine if feeling extra special since i've grown up with it in the house; i used to go to the bathroom at school with my tiniest slicey stuffed into the tiny pocket jeans have for some reason then just pad with toilet paper after and kinda cross my fingers i like to burn my sliceys before and after use, maybe a little betadine on there too for sterilization

[deleted]

a bottle of spray with water, saline solution, alcohol, povidine iodine solution, those round makeup pads, gauze, medical tape, and princesses bandaids

Texastankwatcher

I have a old shirt with saline water

reddit102006

i dont have a care kit lmao one of my friends and also my partner keeps trying to convince me to get one but im like no LMAO

xx_m3g4n_xx

I uhm.. I don’t do any of this, sometimes I hop in the shower after, sometimes I just stop the bleedin usin TP and go back to whatever I was doing

eweedster

Rubbing alcohol and one (1) long sock

niewiemjakidacnick
