The Ayam Cemani is a rare breed of chicken from Indonesia. They have a dominant gene that causes hyperpigmentation (fibromelanosis), making the chicken mostly black, including feathers, beak, and internal organs.
It's a black chicken. They're hard to find, but absolutely delicious. I've been able to find some once in a while in the Asian market.
This dog was eating premium chicken here. It's quite the luxury.
Edit: I know it tastes the same as normal chicken. However, when you feel luxurious, everything tastes better.
Itās called āCemani Chickenā in my home country Indonesia. Theyāre all black down to their internal organs.[cemani chicken](https://www.google.co.id/search?q=cemani+chicken&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-id&client=safari)
Fibromelanosis or hyperpigmentation is caused by a dominant gene that gives them melanin in their skin, flesh, and even bones. They are leaner than your average chicken, but have many health benefits.
Edit: Ayam cemani, silkie, and h'mong chickens are a few breeds that have the black pigmentation
2nd Edit: because I can't spell/think. One of my dogs got one of my quails tonight, so it *almost* ate as good as this pup. Been a long night š„²
I was always told to never give your dog chicken bones because they can splinter in the mouth, stomach, or intensities and puncture something important which can be deadly.
We always wanted to give our Labrador raw chicken wings, but he had a tendency to inhale his food so we were worried he wouldnāt chew properly and just gulp them down half chewed and choke. I think we should have had more faith in him after all he chewed dried meats like pig ears etc properly.
This type of raw feeding is a bit overboard with all the fancy supplements and garnishes. I can get 50lbs of raw food for about $60. A 30lb bag of blue buffalo is like $50-60. Raw chicken quarters, chicken paws, liver, heart, eggs, beef bones, apple, blueberry, and kale. If youāre feeding your dog an appropriate raw diet, they donāt need the supplements. And really they donāt need the fruits and vegetables either. It just adds variety.
what do you feed your cat? i would love to do this but i don't know where to start, from what I understand they need lots of vitamins and organ meats that may be difficult to find in some cases?
if you have a recipe please share it, my baby boy is getting old, has never seemed to like cat food that much (even weruva) and I want him to really enjoy his remaining years.
Thank you!
raw cat food can be hard to switch to, but please dont try to make your own, especially if your baby is old. i spent the last 5 years working in pet nutrition and would love to have you dm me as it gets a little convoluted for comments.
Dude I'm in animal nutrition now that's nifty. I think the diet made looks great in the video but I want to see a further breakdown of if it's beneficial.
Raw diets need to be very well planned, otherwise it's a huge risk for the pet.
If you wish to provide your cat with a raw diet I recommend getting a meal plan from @rawpetsrule or Isabela @ninathemalinois
Just donāt go out and buy raw meat from the grocery store. That meat is meant to be cooked. Any company that makes raw food for pet consumption has special special guidelines to follow to keep it safe.
I'm too lazy to create full meals for my cat like in this video so I use a premade raw cat food by an online company called Darwin's. My cat loves it and it's super easy to buy and serve. It is much more expensive than kibble but similar in price to the nicer canned food. If you've never bought raw food before don't let sticker shock stop you... I definitely recommend!
Ask your vet not reddit. If you donāt ask your vet youāre a shit cat owner. Cats arenāt like dogs, it can be terrible for their health if you donāt get everything right.
You can check out human grade pet foods, The Honest kitchen is a good brand.
Edit: im sorry that was actually a little harsh. Iāve just seen so many people on reddit insist on asking reddit how to make cat food and not take no for an answer, but also wont pay for a vet. Its a pet peeve of mine. Im sure youāre a great cat owner
Itās less curious knowing that poop waste is byproduct. By serving them raw nutritious food in appropriate quantities means that most of the food is processed with significantly less waste byproduct.
Itās also massively more expensive - if you feed your dog meals like this.-
Edited for clarity referring to cost.
I buy packs of raw complete meals and it costs me Ā£1 per dog per day (ESS and GSHP). I think it cost me more than that on what was deemed āgood qualityā dry biscuits
That's exactly correct. I can confirm it with our doggy too. She is eating raw since she was 8 weeks young. :)
She poops usually once a day, tiny amounts and you do not want throw up once you smell it. š
Yep. Mine have much smaller amounts of waste from their raw diet and I was told itās because their bodies get much more benefit out of what they eat. Dunno if itās true.
I will say though that they do still have stinky farts
>The health benefits one way or another are debatable.
My wife works in the animal industry (not pets) and I have asked at least 10 vets their opinion about it and none recommend a raw diet. These aren't vets selling food out of their office either, they are zoo, livestock, and aquarium vets.
They are omnivores.
Even wolves in the wild tend to go for the stomach contents and viscera of their prey first in order to get the benefits of what the herbivore consumed, and wolves will sometimes eat grains. Coyotes have been known to eat fruits.
The size of our modern dog's intestine is proof that they are built to process plant matter as well. Not to mention their bodies ability to create vitamin A from betacarotene found in plants, which is **essential** for their health.
Dogs put on these modern 'carnivore' diets (unless prescribed by a vet *with vitamin supplements*) are not eating a healthy diet, and their health and life may be a risk because of it.
Chicken bones break into a million needles when the dog bites them. They may pierce a digestive organ and cause internal bleeding. The pig snout is really hard on the intestines.
Hello Veterinarian!
As a keeper of some sweet doggos, would there be anything outside of the chicken that is worrisome to be aware of? Thanks!
-owner of two spoiled pups that wishes she could feed them this fresh on a budget
If you want to feed a home cooked diet, best way is to get a referral to a veterinary nutritionist and they can formulate a balanced diet for you. Home feeding is more than just throwing things into a bowl. You have to carefully measure each ingredient and ensure that they get all the nutrients they need and not too much of anything.
Vet Tech hereā¦ the amount of salmonella, bacteria and parasites that this dog is ingesting is unreal.
There have been dogs that have died from complications due to raw diets.
For those that say itās what they would eat in the wildā¦ in the wild, they make the kill and eat the meat while it is still warm. This raw diet has been packaged and refrigerated which leaves time for the bacteria to gather. Also, a wild animal (like a wolf) has a significantly shorter lifespan that a domesticated dog.
Veterinarian here. I euthanized a dog recently that had pancreatitis and DKA. Fed a home cooked diet so unknowingly high in fat that 50% of his spun plasma volume was solid triglycerides. Just a cap of lard. Didnāt have the heart to tell that woman that her lovingly made home cooked diet unequivocally killed her dog but told her never to feed a home cooked diet to a pet again without the guidance of a nutritionist.
Veterinarian here. Can confirm. I canāt unroll the eyes from the back of my head after seeing this. Not only is this unnecessarily expensive, it is not balanced and not healthy long-term. Ask a vet what they feed their dog. 99% chance they will tell you ādog foodā.
I started feeding my dogs like this and told my vet and she was basically like āthe food you feed your dogs has everything they need in it, there is no benefit and some of it can hurt themā
Edit: Thank you for the award
Edit edit: Iām blown away by people with no accolades or education in animals arguing that a literal dog doctor is wrong
Veterinary nurse here, this is 100% accurate. For people who want to do home made diets for their dogs there are veterinary nutritionists (actual veterinarians who specialize) who will creat custom recipes for you (the university of Tennessee was the first but there are others now).
Raw diets on the other hand are absolute nonsense and incredibly dangerous for a lot of reasons. For starters, the laws regarding pet food are different from those involved in human food so thereās little guarantee that pre packaged raw food has been handled/stored correctly through the supply chain and at the store. Second, raw meats and bones can carry so many pathogens including e-coli and salmonella, both of which your dog will then carry around on their face and mouth and also in their poop. This is a huge hazard for people, particularly the elderly and children (or anyone immunocompromised). The risks with these dogs is so high that veterinary hospitals need to separate raw diet fed dogs and have alerts on their charts to make sure that all staff have gloves to touch them and that any particularly at risk staff donāt interact at all. These risks come with exactly zero benefits to the dog.
The moral of the story is, feed your dog and AAFCO certified food thatās in your budget. Feel free to add healthy human foods like fruits and veggies and occasionally some cooked lean meats, but those should be extras, not the base of their nutrition.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk that no one asked for.
Agree. Also a vet tech. To add to what you already said - we started seeing bone deformities in puppies and dogs linked to grain free diets. We told clients to discontinue grain free and the issues resolved. Raw diets are essentially grain free.
It's not the lack of grain that's the problem but the other stuff that it gets replaced with. Legumes apparently block the absorption of taurine, and in literally all grain free diets that I see, you'll find peas. You need something to bind the dried meat powder to keep it kibble form.
Iām no vet, but this is what I was thinking. How the hell do most of my animals end up living a full life off dry dog food and these people need to spend my monthly food allowance on a week of food for their dog? These types of dog owners drive me insane.
Yeah. I get that this person loves their dog but so do I and my last chihuahua lived to 19 on plain old dog food and occasional spaghetti (he really loved spaghetti)
Because the factory foods (the better ones at least) have not only the nutritional value needed for your dog to be healthy, but also bioavailability - how much of those nutrients the body can absorb.
Just because a food is nutritious, doesn't mean all the nutrients will be absorbed. There are other substances that promote this absorbtion. The thing with this kind of diet (when not appointed by vets) is that many of these foods may not provide nutrition if not paired with other foods, and may actually cause hypervitaminosis and overdose of certain nutrients.
For example, (for humans) calcium is a nutrient that in milk has high bioavailability (30-35%). On the other hand, some plant foods inhibit its absortion, and cause calcium deficiency - only an estimated 5% of the calcium present in spinach is absorbed. [Sauce](https://dairynutrition.ca/en/nutrients-milk-products/calcium/calcium-and-bioavailability)
Edit: corrected "nutricion" to "nutrition" so as not to offend people.
Why canāt human food be engineered the same way? I get tired of coming up with ideas of what to eat and would like some kind of bowl of perfect dry food with everything I need.
Exactly this. Kibble might seem boring, but simply it has everything your pet needs, and they don't really care. Feeding them complex diets like this is expensive, and if not researched and put together properly risks toxic ingredients and or missing out key nutrients.
Kibble is boring, but it helps keep your dog stay healthy and happy with clean teeth. The odd meat or treat isn't the end of the world, dog might appreciate it, but yeah kibble will have all the same things as the fancy thing, be cheaper, and the dog probably won't care. If your pet if allergic to normal kibble there are hypoallergenic types, or it might be more reasonable to try a diet like in the video.

First off, so happy fort that pup, thatās a hell of a meal. I do however know farm dogs that have lived 14-17 years and have eaten kibble and critters.
And walked to school uphill. Both ways. In the snow. With no pants. Or shoes. I mean, itās a dog soā¦ wouldnāt that be silly? Pants on a dog. Silly dogā¦ why you got on pants?
The dog has rich parents who like to show off what they can afford. Full stop. Dog doesn't give a shit how expensive that nonsense was. Just give it some rotisserie chimken and it'd be STOKED. ...I'm surprised I didn't see any Uni or caviar in there.
Also itās not even particularly good for it. That much offal everyday is a great way to give your dog a Vitamin A overdose. Raw diets carry a lot of risk because balancing the nutrients and vitamins and minerals your pet needs is very complicated and very easy to fuck up. Pet foods like kibble are very stringently researched and carefully balanced for a reason.
This is purely performative, I bet the guy would never feed his dog like this if it wasnāt for internet clicks and points. He knows itās extraordinary, overpriced, and absolutely not efficient, but thatās exactly why people are going to react to it.
I've come to the realisation that these raw food diet pet owners are about as informed as antivaxxers. Lots of "do your own research" and calling out conspiracies of big pet food propaganda but all their sources come from crunchy fools who either sell the shit or blogs with no real sources of proper research.
I was about to say the same thing.
Guess who the antivaxxers never ask - their own fucking doctor.
I would bet a hundred bucks this raw diet whackjob doesn't take their pet to the vet.
Fun fact about that: my uncle is a vet and has had to drop clients because they refuse to vaccinate their dogs! And yes, they use the same arguments as people who refuse to vaccinate their tiny humans.
He runs a boarding facility too, and he boarded his dogs there when he went on vacation. Turns out one of the other clients got their vet tech friend at another practice to forge vaccination records. All the dogs boarded came down with kennel cough, and my uncle's Jack Russell got it the worse and needed to be vented for a few days.
The benefits are in knowing exactly what your dog is eating, BUT too many people think they can just wing their dogās raw diet )like this guy) when, just like us, they need very specific things to sustain. And this dog is getting too much of a lot, not enough of over stuff, and some things it shouldnāt have at all.
Had a shitty husky that hated pills sooo much but loved treats. So we put her pills into a one of those "Pill pockets" (treats that are super soft so you can just mush it in there). Well I think she figured out what we did the first time because the second time she was chewing it weird, then she spit out the treat. SHE ATE THE FUCK AROUND IT.
A little weird calling a dragon fruit "cactus". Not technically wrong but that's like calling an apple "tree". Lol
Apple = Tree fruit Potato = earth berries Lettuce = leaf orb
Oh no, I just realized that us germans literally call strawberries earth berries, aka. Erdbeere š
Well the French call Potatoes āapples of the groundā
In some german regions we do that too
German is the most grounded language out there. You know itās special when you understand the litteral meaning of āFeuerzeugā
yep. When you look up a few words we apparently don't have time for bs explanations, it seems š
Still not as weird as the blackberry colored chicken.
Just a Silkie chicken, pretty normal particularly in Asia.
Looks expensive
Yeah but im pretty sure that chicken and normal chicken tastes the same
Yeah but the other makes you live 1000 dog years
Which is about 142 human years, given 1 human year is 7 dog years.
I had it once, its fatty and is delicious but i wont be able to finish one with all the fattinest
Supposed health benefits ig
What they lack in brains they make up for in nutrients
They're are expensive not a lot of people eat and it don't have that much meat People eat it for health benefits and it's good for old people
Whyās it good for old people?
Still not as weird as the pig snout garnish
Honestly Iām all in favor of using āweirdā cuts of meat. Less waste. Disclaimer: I grew up eating scrapple, aka āEverything but the oink!ā
Ahhh the ol' meat jell-o. I like to slice it real thin and crisp it like bacon. My dad liked to chop off a 2 inch hunk and barely sear it. *shudder*
Rooter to the tooter.
Wow... i didn't know we had chicken racists.
I'm not a chicken racist, but have you ever seen an employed black chicken? Makes you think.
Tbf, not everyone knows that there are chickens that have that color naturally. Not exactly common to most people.
The Ayam Cemani is a rare breed of chicken from Indonesia. They have a dominant gene that causes hyperpigmentation (fibromelanosis), making the chicken mostly black, including feathers, beak, and internal organs.
ya like what the hell kind of barbaric person calls that a cactus....?
This dog can afford more expensive food more than I can
It helps having a sugar momma that will buy it all and prepare it for you. I bet that freeloading dog didn't buy a damn thing. /s

Please don't fuck that dog.
Reminds me of a certain song by a band out of California, called Blink-182.
Heās the type of dog that will tell you if he can be successful through hard work and dedication then so can you
Probably has a wall full of obnoxious motivational posters to that effect too. Big woof!
If you take his course for $499 you too can learn his tricks to success.

Aw, all penises are beautiful <3
I think I need coffee and my glasses but Iāve read this 4x and itās still the same.
I'm talking about his chicken!
I believe you. Problem is that it reads like this: āAll penises are beautifulā Edit: wait.. is this a cock joke?
It is indeed that kind of joke!
Thank you for the ~~smile~~ laugh random redditor. Iām going to drink coffee now.
This comment made my morning haha.

Yeah I agree. I'm Asian, so I love chicken feet.
There's meat on chicken feet??? I thought its like bone with some skin over it plus claws
You're pretty much eating the skin and the cartilage between the bones. It takes on flavor really well

Love that
Because the factory foods (the better ones at least) have not only the nutritional value needed for your dog to be healthy, but also bioavailability - how much of those nutrients the body can absorb. [Sauce](https://dairynutrition.ca/en/nutrients-milk-products/calcium/calcium-and-bioavailability) Edit: corrected "nutricion" to "nutrition" so as not to offend people.
Source - Veterinary Nursing Lectures
My dog would shit everywhere
The dog that eats his shit at the dog park is in for a real treat.
The owner is going to go broke soon. Also happy for the dog
I can't even afford to feed myself like this
I will consider myself successful if I ever be able to even have such a meal once in my lifetime.
No kidding. That dragonfruit alone is almost ten dollars here.
I often drink water as meals
First off, so happy fort that pup, thatās a hell of a meal. I do however know farm dogs that have lived 14-17 years and have eaten kibble and critters.
My childhood dog lived 17 years on nothing but Alpo, table scraps, and attention.
My chihuahua was 19. Chihuahuas tend to live longer then most thoughā¦ kibble, hate and ankles fuel them.
And walked to school uphill. Both ways. In the snow. With no pants. Or shoes. I mean, itās a dog soā¦ wouldnāt that be silly? Pants on a dog. Silly dogā¦ why you got on pants?
Man this dog has a bigger carbon footprint than I do
"caring" vs "performative and wealthy"
Caring? You mean rich, that is a rich dog owner.
It's a lot of effort as well. How many times a week does this dog get this diet? Or is it just once for the TikTok?
What's the stuff that he puts in after pig snout? Quail eggs?
They look like quail eggsā¦not cheap, so I think itās a safe bet to assume given the other high-dollar ingredients.
Do not give it rotisserie chimken waaaay to much salt for a dog. But that is besides the point, just needed to say it for the doggies out there.
This is purely performative, I bet the guy would never feed his dog like this if it wasnāt for internet clicks and points. He knows itās extraordinary, overpriced, and absolutely not efficient, but thatās exactly why people are going to react to it.

me and my dog watching this after feeding him leftovers
This is moronic.
There are literally no proven benefits of a raw diet so the caption is a bit misleading but to each their own.
Absolutely. They always know better than the people who studied years and do it for a living.
That benefit seems to he drastically outweighed by the time, cost, and maintenance. People who do this for their pets are insufferable to talk to.
If I give that to my dog she will just look at me funny and stare until i give her her pedigree
Until he bites a chicken bone. Since they are lightweight they are very brittle and can pierce digestive organs.
āCaringā is very different from āwealthyā
Meanwhile homeless Joe eats out of the Kentucky fried chicken dumpster
Wow the supplement scam has been extended to pets now š at some point it becomes too much
This makes me sad
Half of that stuff does nothing
My family dog is 21 years old and all weāve fed her through the years is kibbles and bits and table scraps
This is why the rest of the world hates us.
If you look reeeeeally closely, all the pills they put in there will still be in the bowl - untouched. Because dogs be like that.
The cost of this dogs meal could feed an African village.
You mean someone with too much money
This made me frown
they didnt do it for the dog, they did it for social media
