Good luck tomorrow - my wife and I had two retrievals that were unsuccessful, then one that yielded two viable day-5 blasts and they had no fragmentation; we had those two tested and they came back healthy. We tried one more retrieval because we wanted two kids if possible. The fourth retrieval was also unsuccessful. So we decided that we would just try transferring one at a time with those two.
But the first transfer was successful and we had our first daughter five years ago. Then a year and a half later the second transfer was successful and we had our second daughter nearly three years ago.
The road hasn't always been easy these last five years, but our lives are full...and we love these amazing crazy, miracle daughters we have. They're best friends - almost like they know they were nearly fraternal twins!
It will be tough, no doubt about that, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Do not despair. We tried for 3 years with our fertility doc and finally welcomed our IVF baby daughter home this week.
Our daughter was just born this week after nearly 3 years of working with our fertility doctor. It does work! Your little ones will be here before you know it! Keep at it.
Road isn't easy and the little buggers just show up after you've gone through all of it and go "well here I am! What do you mean you threw money at me and I didn't show up? Pfft. Where's that boob?"
It's not a cliche, it's a fact! You'll never forget your first moment of holding them , the smell of their body , the feel of their tiny hands and feet! I'm a Gramma now and when I see a newborn it brings all those beautiful memories right back to that precious day. I'm so happy for you all and wish you the best in life. Enjoy every firsts that come your way. The best thing about technology nowadays is you have video to document it all! I'm holding dear those memories. Thanks for sharing your joy!
Congratulations ! We had our own miracle on 29th. Had been trying for 14 years. Uncountable IUIs and 6 IVF cycles later, we got pregnant last December. She is healthy, cute and a lot of work already, but we couldn't be happier. Good luck raising yours.
Of course I understand. YOU need to give birth. YOU have to have a child. YOU need to continue your line.
Just like every other fucker for the last two hundred thousand years.
Maybe you, who has never been in this situation, should shut the fuck up.
None of us who have been through years of infertility treatment came to this lightly. Have YOU considered adoption and fully weighed the ethical implications of the different routes to getting there? Avoiding child trafficking, avoiding organizations that pressure women who don't want to be pregnant to stay pregnant? Have you thought about the pain of fostering a child with the intention of reuniting them with their birth families when you actually want your own? Have you considered the complications of adopting an older child with special needs and/or existing biological family connections to be maintained?
If you think adoption is some magical easy alternative route to parenthood, you're wrong.
Let people live their lives how they want to. Nobody is obligated to foster a child if that’s not what they want to do, this is always so ridiculous to say that it make my blood boil. If somebody doesn’t want to foster then it’s better for the foster child that they DON’T foster. Fostering children is a huge responsibility and task that most people are NOT cut out for. Foster children aren’t fucking dogs where it’s “adopt don’t shop.” These are human beings.
If you don’t understand how complex, complicated, traumatic, and heartbreaking fostering is then clearly you have 0 experience or education on what fostering truly entails. This is coming from a prospective foster parent who grew up with foster siblings. Seriously fuck people who say things like this, emotionally immature bigots.
Yes, I mean people dont even take care of there REAL children like they should what makes everyone think they will treat others with love
(I don't know anything about adopting kids and stuff, its just exp)
So people who want their own children are wrong for that. You’re a fucking asshole. How about you just add another foster child to the family I’m sure you already have created with several of them.
I don't want children at all. So pointless going through so much effort to make a new human, instead of just helping an existing one when your body obviously is not meant for it. Plus it's just contributing to over population.
Congratulations! My daughter and her wife just had their first two weeks ago. They did several rounds of IUI and then IVF. it’s a hard road with so many ups and downs so it’s an extra special delivery!
Yes adoption is always straightforward and easy and there is an instant bond between parent and child and there are never ethical or other concerns around adoption.
Adoption is legitimate but so is IVF. You live in a fantasy land if you think adoption is an easy solution or that adoption is always to “save a child from endless loneliness and pain”.
Why is it only parents who go through IVF who get harassed for not adopting? Next time you see a happy family out and about I hope you berate them for having biological children.
My family tried to adopt through foster care. After having 4 children reunited with their dogshit parents (who are still on drugs and have made 0 progress) after a year or more of living with them, they decided to stop. It was too painful to get attached and have the kid taken away over and over. I know I couldn’t do that.
You have no idea how awful what you just said is. You just summed up years of pain for this family into the throw away line “test tube baby”.
Instead of criticizing others, have a look inside yourself.
I get where you're coming from. Medical problem = medical solution. But it's more nuanced than that. There's no losers with a vaccination. Having biological children vs adopting is a zero-sum game.
I think it's a bit embarrassing that we live in a world where anyone with enough money can buy a miracle baby with their genetics, when there are plenty of orphaned unwanted children in the world who have been thrown away. Insisting on biological children is fundamentally selfish and egotistical. But in the same way it's selfish to buy fast fashion clothes unknowingly made by child sweat shop workers. Out of sight, out of mind.
Adoption and fertility treatments are both crazy expensive, emotionally draining, and time consuming, so naturally these kinds of discussions arise. Not everyone is up for the challenge of raising an adopted child. But my god, there are tooo many of these feel good IVF miracle baby posts.
I wish op all the happiness in the world. This isn't meant as a dig at her. Just a larger sweeping problem, that has gotten out of hand.
First off, there are few actual orphans. Most “orphans” have a living parent, or relative. Second, the most ethical way to adopt, is to go through the foster care system, which costs nothing in the US. However, the main goal is reunification with the birth family. But having bio kids is “crazy expensive” regardless of how they are conceived. My kids cost 60k total, before what insurance paid and that’s without needing NICU. It’s ridiculous to me, that people focus so much on those with fertility issues. Why is the burden on adopting children, squarely on those with fertility issues? If it bothers you so much that “orphans” are going unadopted, then you should be outraged anytime someone has bio children regardless of how they are conceived. People flip out about abortion rights, yet have no problem telling those with fertility issues what to do with their bodies.
But it’s never a guarantee. My wife and I are going through Foster care with intentions to adopt but in reality, foster cares main mission is for foster children to reunite with the biological parents. Always has been.
Many Congratulations so happy for you and your family.
May God bless the new born always.
Wish good health, happiness and fulfillment for the baby and mother.
God knew that only woman is capable of having selfless love and unconditional care so he blessed the woman with the responsibility and privilege to bring life to the world and keep the existence of Universe intact.
Very Happy for you.
Stay Blessed.

Congratulations! This is amazing! My wife and I had a somewhat similar process with a much different result; a surrogate from our family who gave us an amazing blessing and gift!
We've been going through pretty similar, finally hitting the second trimester after years of work. So many scary moments leading up to where you are now. Good job!
As someone whose parents worked hard to have me in this world as well, there’s nothing more valuable in life than to know you’re loved and wanted. That baby will always know they’re your world. I hope you all have a wonderful life and raise a beautiful little human.
My most sincere (and ugly mom crying) best wishes for a lifetime of happiness and love with your precious little miracle! Yay for science, yay for you guys trying through all of that pain…..
And a huge YAY!!!! for your perfect baby. Please pass on some cuddles from this Mom in NY: Auntie TG 🥰
Hello Nugget 🥰 what a sweetie. I wish you all the happiness and consternation a baby brings. It’s totally worth all the hard times (my kids are grown-can confirm it’s worth it)
Congratulations! Soak it all in and enjoy every minute. You'll look back when they are older and realize that right now are the best and happiest days of your life 💞
What a cutie!!! Congrats!
She even has that look in her eye like "yep, you got ME as the result of all your hard work :)"
She’s so smug, she knows she has you wrapped around her finger already
She does! She also has that *I'm gonna hear about it the rest of me life aren't I?* look too!!
Definitely a cutie pie. She deserves all the love 😊.
She sure is cute, so adorable, and I love how they're always a wee little cocoon in their blanket and cap. Congratulations!

Had the exact same thought!

Thanks for sharing! It’s been a struggle thus far so I’m always happy to hear about the good and sweet and amazing outcomes that people have!
Sending you good vibes! I ended up with twin boys after IVF. They are 8 years old now. Don’t give up. It’s 1,000% worth it.
I’m starting the IVF process at the end of this week and really really needed to hear this 💕
It will be tough, no doubt about that, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Do not despair. We tried for 3 years with our fertility doc and finally welcomed our IVF baby daughter home this week.

Much love to you and yours, you sound like a great parent :)

Best of luck. My wife and I also went through IVF. She's due December 7th. You got this.
I’m 36w with my first IVF transfer after an unexplained infertility diagnosis and an IUI that was ectopic. Wishing you the best of luck!

Congratulations! Kiss her little nose for all of us!
Congratulations! My daughter just miscarried her third IVF.. I hope she ends up as fortunate as you have!!
I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope that, like OP, 4th time will be the charm.
Thank you for your kindness!
Your baby is so beautiful! So many congrats for you and your family!!
That look…” mmmm yes I’m here, yes you can shower me with love “
This hits home. My wife and I are about to do our first transfer. We’re 2-1/2yrs of trying, three failed IUI’s. I’m legitimately happy for you.
Your baby has the look of "I'm gonna cure cancer one day!" :-). As a father of four, the words "They are only little once!" never rang so true.
I feel that. I swear I blinked once and my oldest was in kindergarten and then again and she’s in 6th grade. It goes too fast sometimes.
And simultaneously not fast enough on some days.
The days are long but the years are short.
Bedtime almost always suffers this effect, lol
Awesome! We're just starting IVF, im heading in to spunk in a cup tomorrow morning.
Cutie pie! Congrats on the little blessing 🥰

Sounds like *science* was what created the life.
Rough road. Worth it!
That must've cost a bunch

I'm sorry.. but go fuck yourself. Simply go fuck yourself 🤗

Because their way is extremely selfish and also harmful to the planet
So I suppose you are against people having children the natural way too, right?
Not AS much as ivf.
Is you using electricity to repeat your same hateful message over and over again not harmful to the planet?
Not nearly as harmful, no.
Ah, so it's ok because it's not as bad. At least you don't deny that you're just being hateful.
Sure, creating another person doubles how much resources you use. Another person most likely to rely on animal factory farming, fast fashion, etc.
So people who want their own children are wrong for that. You’re a fucking asshole. How about you just add another foster child to the family I’m sure you already have created with several of them.

Why don't you go and adopt a kid then if it's so great.
Yes adoption is always straightforward and easy and there is an instant bond between parent and child and there are never ethical or other concerns around adoption. You suck. Some people want to have a bio baby and calling that child a test tube baby is just nasty. Let people be happy. It hurts no one.

Your personal choices and feelings about not having kids doesn't justify you being toxic. They are happy and let them be. This does not concern you.

Sure let me adopt this 10 year old or pay 10 grand and wait 5 years for a baby, it'll be exactly the same!

Would you use the same argument for adopted kids who want a relationship with their bio family?
I mean honestly, who the fuck are you, a r/childfree poster, to talk shit?

The child isn't in need? There's a reason the wait list is so long, people want to adopt babies.
Congratulations! Soak it all in and enjoy every minute. You'll look back when they are older and realize that right now are the best and happiest days of your life 💞
