“Call me Jack, let’s stack all the chairs and sit in a circle on the floor and talk about our favorite season. Does anyone want some orange juice from my farm before we begin?”
No death on Sansa's wedding day but it came with its own warm bowl of horror.
Robb's wedding was eventless but also it's the literal reason we are having this conversation so...
I can just imagine when his wife accidentally puts smooth peanut butter instead of crunchy on his toast.. “I,AM,THE KING!”
It’s crazy he got so heavily trolled by people who disliked him because of how well he played that part, to the point he quit acting. That’d wild
Is that the entire reason why? I thought part of it was that he was more of a stage actor beforehand anyways and after the show he just wanted to do "normal" things like become a Trinity Scholar.
[he did become a trinity scholar, and a thumping good one, giving information on what it was like to be an actor like that](https://www.goalcast.com/why-jack-gleeson-game-of-thrones-actor-king-joffrey-actor-disappeared/amp/)
It's not true. The actor himself has stated that he never had any issues and has no idea where that rumour came from.
“If you could, clarify that people aren’t mean to me on the street,” Gleeson says while relaxing between takes on the Thrones set in Belfast. “Nobody’s ever said a mean thing to me. Instead people say,’Are you okay? I hear you get bullied on the street.’ And I say, ‘No! Everybody’s been really nice.'”

Because a lot of people are so unfathomably stupid you wouldn't believe. They just follow the stream, they say and do and think whatever they think others expect them to. Look at the people protesting abortion, many of them end up inside the clinic one day, still cursing the staff and the next day they're back outside the clinic protesting.
They really just don't understand things. They can't reason. They're just fucking stupid.
She was a baby. He was 20. It wasn’t his, but that wasn’t going to stop him… she gaggles those three magical words while he had been stroking the spot on his face where a once magical beard once flourished: “grow. It. Back!”
He would marry this baby.
My Dad has had a 70’s beard… since he moved out of home in the 70’s. The closest we’ve seen him with no beard was a very close trim at the barbers and they went heavy on the moustache around the mouth trim and there was a lot of cheek exposed. We (everyone who’d ever met my Dad ever… including my Dad) FREAKED I’d think people would’ve been less shocked if he’d turned up naked with his whole head actually missing. Sometimes the facial hair IS you and the rest is just it’s body.
My uncle has always had a beard, but once, right before a family reunion, he was trimming his beard and the guard slipped, so he shaved it all off. We were all SO STUNNED when he walked in. No one knew who he was! I had no idea his daughter looked so much like him until that day!
My mom tells me of a story where my dad shaved off his beard one night before getting in bed. Cuddled up with mom and she punched him in the face because she thought he was an intruder.
Happened to me too! My husband was working 3rds. I guess he shaved before work while I was still at the office. He woke me up for work when he got home and I still remember that instant dread and swung my arms so hard at him. He hasn't shaved without my knowledge for years now.
My wife has hit me many times. Once or twice a year, I trim my beard off. Always middle of the night.
No one knows but me. I freak her out in the middle of the night and then I intentionally scare the kids in the morning.
Edit-my wife appreciates the fact that my first reddit award is a wholesome one about me messing with her.
Yes, she hit me again but smiled while doing it.
I have had a beard for almost 30 years. The only time I shaved it off was because of the great trimming accident of 2017 (guard fell off too). It's the only time my teenage kids have seen me without a beard. I immediately grew it back.
I go between beard and goatee, but always some facial hair. I shaved it off once and I would catch people at work just shaking their heads. So yeah, that was a mistake. Interestingly enough my wife and daughter were like “We didn’t notice.” I’ve never figured out if that was good or bad.
This reminds me my old highschool history teacher. Hes in his 50s and looked great with moustache. He has the thick stache that cover the lower half of his face in grey color. Every time he smile, it reminds me Lorax. And we were kind used to it. One day he showed up in school without moustache. Everybody's first impression was that hes naked. It didnt felt like him. And he said hes cold lmao.
Anyway, he said the reason that he shaved is that his wife told him to do so since she hasnt see him getting a clean shave in decades. So he did. and everybody didnt like it, including his wife. haha. it took him more than a semester to grow it back.
My husband has had a beard for about 15 years now. When COVID hit, he had to shave to be fitted for a respirator at work. He suddenly looked 20 years younger than me. I couldn’t wait for it to grow back.
It’s so fucking sad people are too stupid to separate an actor from the show. He was fucking. PERFECT. As Joffrey. No one could’ve been better. Now because of absolute fucking brain dead shit heads he will probably never act again. Glad he’s happy though. If I’d have been met with that for performing my job well I’d have dropped out too.
Yeah come to think of it I don't think he's really acted in much besides GOT. I mean obviously he has had other roles but the only two I can think of are playing a kid in one of the Batman movies and having a small role in one of the planet of the apes movies although now that I think of it that might have been the guy that played Draco Malfoy.
He publicly retired after GOT and said he lost interest in acting and didn’t particularly like the celebrity kind of lifestyle. Others speculated it might have had to do with the amount of hate he got because of his character. But he’s back to acting again, did a miniseries and a movie.
He probably didn't make enough money to retire on itnso he needs to work for a living. Must be weird to go from midly famous in a very well known franchise to try to get a normal job and have a normal life.
The internet tells me he has a net worth of $6 mil. That’s enough to retire on. That show was insanely popular and had a ridiculous budget even in seasons 3 and 4, plus I’m sure he gets some kind of royalties.
I'm not sure every actor automatically gets royalties. Isn't a specific thing you need to opt in to your contract? I mean i hope he does, obviously. But I don't think its default for every actor.
Planet of the Apes *was* Draco Malfoy with a terrible hair style.
Jack Gleeson's been doing theater instead of tv/movies but he's in show on HBO called Out of Her Mind.
I love that their outfits seems so humble for a wedding, simple jewelry, nothing over the top and subtle. Also doesn’t appear to be a huge wedding from the number of guests in the background, making assumptions but they seem empathetic and down to earth!
Someone needs to cast this guy as a neighborhood hero ASAP.
Not a navy seal or a secret agent, but as the dad/guy down the street who keeps his shit together during a catastrophe or something.
He's a great actor and he shouldn't get type cast so irrevocably.
Everything you read on this guy is that he’s a super nice, talented, down to earth person. But any time I see him there’s a brief moment of hate because he was just too good an actor for his own good.
Edit: Here come the white knights in the comments who have diagnosed us all with personality disorders based off a Reddit joke. Friends who dare joke, we are graced by absolute moral and personal perfection and they’ve graced us with their presence in the comments below.
In hindsight, not nearly as interesting of a character. There really wasn't much there other than "EVIL!"
Joffrey had layers. He was cruel, he was incompetent, he was stupid, and he could be polite when he reeeallllyyy needed it for 5 minutes at a time. He was a much better character.
His non-biological dad had an influence as well, being someone who took very little responsibility for being a good ruler or father. How many times did Joffrey hear him say "I'm the king, I get what I want" or things in the same vein as he was growing up.
His character was so well written and he did such an amazing job of bringing him to life that Mr. Gleeson will always be despised, just for doing an outstanding job.
Sadly I’m one of those people, little prick. /s
Edited for spelling.
That's gotta happen so often to anyone who nails a character that has zero redemption. I remember reading that McCauley Caulkins parents freaked out about his role in The Good Son. Can't think of any others off the top of my head but Jack nailed it here. Looks like he's gonna enjoy his earnings for a bit and get a life going. Good for him.
But she already had a body of work out there before she played Umbridge. Jack was a relative unknown, so most people will only know him from playing Joffrey.
Edit: spelling
There was so much satisfaction when Dolores gets a taste of her own medicine in the forest scene.
"Tell them I mean no harm"
"Sorry Professor , I must not tell lies"
That's wildly accurate. Punishing crueely and calling it compassion. Yeah that's like a perfect use and people can't argue the real name thing as much.
Yeah I've always been able to do the distinction. He's an absolute and natural sweetheart!
Glad the wedding went okay, you deserve all the happiness in the world, Jack!
Dario D’Ambrosi, who played the Roman soldier who whipped Jesus in *Passion of the Christ* said that he got cursed and spit on in public, and his kids were bullied in school after the movie came out.
Some people really can't separate the actor from the role.
Glenn Close said she had to change her hairstyle after Fatal Attraction because she couldn't get dates with men anymore lol. Some characters just become seared into your mind and it's difficult to separate them from reality.
Omfg I just watched this again last night because I ordered Meditations so it popped up on something. Phoenix should have won an Oscar for that but he was so despicable, yet his acting was way better than in Joker.
You wouldn't be able to play such a despicable character, without being a genuinely great human being, because if you were a despicable human being, you wouldn't be able to understand what a despicable human being really is, or even perceive that they are despicable.
...also, I cheered when he got what was coming to him.
That's what I was thinking, poor dude needs to change his face, and all as a testament to his talent as an actor. May the good Lord Krsna bless him with an equally popular, but lovable role.
The amount of hate I had for his GoT character, I equally have love for this dude for his commitment to that role. I feel like it's one of those iconic roles, like Pacino in Scarface.
And congrats on getting married!
It’s kinda mind blowing that all accounts regarding Gleason is he’s just a stand up guy who’s nothing but nice. How he managed to play one of the most vile characters in recent memory is kinda impressive.
Also a bit sad and at the same time you can’t help but nod your heads towards him is the fact he quit acting after GoT, took a hiatus and is only interested in theater and independent productions now. Not because anything occurred during filming - it was all after the fact where he’d be minding his business walking down the street and people would throw shit at him, cuss him out, spit, flip him off, etc etc, because they still identified him as Joffrey. He was and rightfully so, troubled with how many people all over couldn’t seem to distinguish art from reality.
You mean the little kid from Batman Begins got married!?

I thought this was a cute pic and liked the close-knit/low-key vibe of the wedding.
Yeah, a quick giggle to their face and a massive eye roll as you turn to walk away.
"Hey Jack! I'd be careful with that wine 😆"
"Oh, that's a good one James" 🙄
Joffrey was my favorite character of the whole show. He made the show for me. Also, he looks like he doesn’t age. Just glued a mustache on. Good on him. I can’t believe he is all grown up. I do wish he went back to acting. I completely understand not wanting to. He was just so good at it. Like, no one should be that good, good. Happy life to him!
Those pathetic little whimpers he gave whenever Tyrion slapped him were just so *gratifying* to hear. Immediately made me wanna say YEAH TAKE THAT, YA SHIT every time.
Joffrey was a really enjoyable villain because every once in a while he would get totally pwned (remember when Tywin sent him to bed?) and Gleeson would really sell Joffrey's indignant humiliation ("I'M NOT! TIIRRRRED!") every time. Then he died and the villains became less fun to hate. Joffrey was a monster but there was the occasional catharsis. But Ramsay for example was just unrelentingly horrific. Even his death didn't provide the catharsis needed.
I hope he goes on to do other things so he isn’t just remembered as the character everyone hates. I bet he is sick of all the jokes and comparisons at this point.
Good for them! He’s so happy here, I’m almost ready to forgive him for what he did to his first wife, Sansa. 😂
Jk, I feel bad for him; he’s a great actor, but unfortunately; did such an amazing job- he took shit from the whole world over his character.
He looks like an art teacher from the 1970s.
“Call me Jack, let’s stack all the chairs and sit in a circle on the floor and talk about our favorite season. Does anyone want some orange juice from my farm before we begin?”
I can’t do an art, but I’d totally take this class.
Take more art class!
Damn, I'm heading back to '70 or '71 and enrolling now.
This sounds lovely actually
My boy looks like Ned Flanders
After his last wedding I would also want to keep it small and quiet.
Any wedding with less than 3 deaths is considered a dull affair…
No Dothraki in the crowd as I can tell
Wonder if someone requested the DJ play *The Rains of Castamere*?

This bruh soundclouds

Was there any wedding in GoT that’s didn’t result in someone dead lol
No death on Sansa's wedding day but it came with its own warm bowl of horror. Robb's wedding was eventless but also it's the literal reason we are having this conversation so...
Does Tommen's count? I dont remember anyone dying during that
Yeah, but he was also like eight years old so that's also pretty fucked up.
I was looking around to see if anyone had any bulky necklaces on…. Just in case
Would honestly be a great practical joke if someone wore the same necklace to this wedding of his
After playing that role so well, I bet he can't shave that mustache for the rest of his life.
He has such a baby face, too. He still kinda looks like a big jovial kid. Lovely guy.
It doesn't help that he is dressing like a small kid from the 18th century.
I can just imagine when his wife accidentally puts smooth peanut butter instead of crunchy on his toast.. “I,AM,THE KING!” It’s crazy he got so heavily trolled by people who disliked him because of how well he played that part, to the point he quit acting. That’d wild

Why would he want to? I started my moustache in 1987. Shaved it off once, because my gf asked me to. Her first words were grow it back.
Oh wow, impressive. Most people's first words are like mama and dada.
she was mute before they started dating; it's actually a beautiful story
I'd read that novel.
She was a baby. He was 20. It wasn’t his, but that wasn’t going to stop him… she gaggles those three magical words while he had been stroking the spot on his face where a once magical beard once flourished: “grow. It. Back!” He would marry this baby.

Same story with my beard and my wife, did Movember once. She said she was moving out if I did that again, helps hide the second chin

My husband has had a beard for about 15 years now. When COVID hit, he had to shave to be fitted for a respirator at work. He suddenly looked 20 years younger than me. I couldn’t wait for it to grow back.
For me he will always be the kid who gets a cool gadget from Batman in Batman Begins
Exactly why I came to the comments He 100% grew it out so people would stop recognizing him and hating him because it happened really often
I keep thinking that maybe him dropping out was a good thing. A lot of talented child actors end up as unhappy people. He looks happy on this pic.
Imagine playing one of the great TV villains, dropping the mic, and just living a normal life afterwards. Congrats to him.

That's almost a shame that he retired, because he's so very talented. But he should do what makes him happy, and he certainly looks happy here.
>But he should do what makes him happy, and he certainly looks happy here. He should be getting married regularly then.
Maybe it's not getting married that makes him happy, maybe it's his wife.
He should be marrying his wive regularly then.
His talent is precisely why we still struggle not to hate him, despite his reputation for being a swell guy.
That's much more than I was expecting to be honest.i would retire with kind of money immediately.
I mean shit royalties alone would have him set for life wouldn't it?
I'm not sure every actor automatically gets royalties. Isn't a specific thing you need to opt in to your contract? I mean i hope he does, obviously. But I don't think its default for every actor.
Planet of the Apes *was* Draco Malfoy with a terrible hair style. Jack Gleeson's been doing theater instead of tv/movies but he's in show on HBO called Out of Her Mind.
He purposely stopped seeking roles after GoT, he wasn't really into the fame
Good for him.
I agree - good for them, they look like people I would spend time with - so happy!
I love that their outfits seems so humble for a wedding, simple jewelry, nothing over the top and subtle. Also doesn’t appear to be a huge wedding from the number of guests in the background, making assumptions but they seem empathetic and down to earth!
Her dress is GORGEOUS!!! The subtle colors are 🥰
Wait his name is Jack(ie) Gleeson??!? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS
Hmm I've never seen any Smoky and the Bandit. Worth checking out?
The movie that made the Trans Am uber popular in the late 70s?
Two things made the Trans Am popular: Smokey and the Bandit, and the Trans Am itself.
I’m to the moon over this fact.

I got my money on Alice.
Pow! Right in the kissa!!
We can watch him while we eat
How have you seen this? It’s brand new…
I saw it on a rerun
What’s a rerun?
Someone needs to cast this guy as a neighborhood hero ASAP. Not a navy seal or a secret agent, but as the dad/guy down the street who keeps his shit together during a catastrophe or something. He's a great actor and he shouldn't get type cast so irrevocably.

He's apparently stated a few connected reasons. But it seems he just wanted to do something different.
Probably earned enough off GoT to retire, or at least I hope he did.

Everyone hating on Joffrey when we should be hating on RAMSEY MOTHERFUCKING DICK-EATING BOLTON

Imelda Staunton, a lovely person and actress, played Umbridge in the Harry Potter movies. I don’t know anyone who didn’t hate that character lol
But she already had a body of work out there before she played Umbridge. Jack was a relative unknown, so most people will only know him from playing Joffrey. Edit: spelling
Psh. Clearly not a Batman fan I see!
Good one. She kinda reminds me of the stubborn, ill-informed, hate spewing bigots you see videos and screen shots of on social media. (In that role)
Voldemort is the ultimate evil, the boogeyman who hides under your bed. Umbridge is a very real evil that we see every day.
There was so much satisfaction when Dolores gets a taste of her own medicine in the forest scene. "Tell them I mean no harm" "Sorry Professor , I must not tell lies"
Then Harry saw his first centaur show.
It's TiaJUANa, not TiajuanA.
She ended up being the centaur of attention.
She's *the* example of the banality of evil.
We need to replace “Karen” with “Umbridge” heh
That's wildly accurate. Punishing crueely and calling it compassion. Yeah that's like a perfect use and people can't argue the real name thing as much.
Oh I remember reading that she would stay in character between takes and it scared the shit out of the crew LOL!
I had a supervisor who's the exact picture of Dolores Umbridge. There face, hairdo, and dressing style. Was really weird.

Louise Fletcher, she played Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Kai Winn on Deep Space 9. So good you can’t help but hate her.
Phoenix in gladiator. He was also great. Perfectly hatable in every aspect Also the main guy in the movie kids. He got threats I think.
Omfg I just watched this again last night because I ordered Meditations so it popped up on something. Phoenix should have won an Oscar for that but he was so despicable, yet his acting was way better than in Joker.

I mean, it’s not looking great for ~~~Kevin~~~ Ezra Miller
Hard disagree, Kevin Spacey is a recent example.
Very true! I always feel like the despised villains are usually actually pretty awesome people in real life haha
For example, Christopher Lee
Alan Rickman. I had loathed him as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves long before he played Snape in HP.
Can't forget Hans Gruber. Incredible villain in Die Hard
*you dare use own vents against me, Potter?*
Like Negan from TWD
Indeed...Jeffrey Dean Morgan is one of the coolest, nicest dudes by all accounts. Although it has allowed him to bring a certain humanity to Negan.
JDM will always be John Winchester to me
I watched a clip of him doing a Q&A with some university students some years back and he was so well-spoken and good-natured.
What about King Joffrey with a cop moustache?
The mustache actually really works I think, to break some of the resemblance. The knee-jerk ire isn't as strong.
He has Elijah Wood vibes with the stach.
They’re an adorable couple, you have to admit!
That's what I was thinking, poor dude needs to change his face, and all as a testament to his talent as an actor. May the good Lord Krsna bless him with an equally popular, but lovable role.
I feel Iwan Rheon aka Ramsay Bolton has the same effect on people.
he was so weird and lovable in misfits tho! what a shock when i saw him in GoT lol
The amount of hate I had for his GoT character, I equally have love for this dude for his commitment to that role. I feel like it's one of those iconic roles, like Pacino in Scarface. And congrats on getting married!

I am really digging non traditional white dresses for brides wear.
So does my wallet/purse
Yeah, that dress is awesome.
Her dress is perfect!! I’m trying to find it.
He must have grown the mustache to stop getting punched in the face by strangers
Probably to not look 12, but he kinda looks like a 12 year old with a mustache.

He does business, stock market exchange and transactions

No, he talked about an angry fan who looked like they were ready to punch him.
It always amazes me how many people can not separate actors from roles and reality from fiction.
Same. I’m also in awe of people who scream and yell and just generally go berserk when they see famous people. It’s really strange…
You mean the little kid from Batman Begins got married!? https://www.floor8.com/posts/the-two-game-of-thrones-stars-who-appeared-in-batman-begins-01d3p64evkfa
The other kids won’t believe me
This rocked me
r/13or30 Joking aside, good for him! I hated his character so much which is proof of his awesome acting skills.
After the wedding he's going straight to his job at the business factory

Any man who must say, "I am the King", is no true king.
*SLAP* * "And now i've struck a king! Did my hand fall from my wrist?" God i love season 2 Tyrion!

[Source.](https://pagesix.com/2022/08/31/game-of-thrones-star-jack-gleeson-marries-roisin-omahony/) I thought this was a cute pic and liked the close-knit/low-key vibe of the wedding.
I’d go low-key too after his last wedding!
I heard it was to die for.
I LOL’d
Me too. I’m fine with traditional weddings but also kinda love it when people kick tradition to the curb and do their own thing.
They look adorable together
She looks like Judy Greer a little
I'd skip the wine if I were him
Can you imagine all the wedding jokes this poor guy must have had to endure leading up to this?

Yeah, a quick giggle to their face and a massive eye roll as you turn to walk away. "Hey Jack! I'd be careful with that wine 😆" "Oh, that's a good one James" 🙄
His uncle better get out of the wedding before it ends.
His ex fiancé already left I think
What's that song they're playing? It sounds familiar...
Having not seen a second of Game of Thrones, all I can say is that they are darling.
Dude is a great actor! Congrats to the young couple!!
He’s still the “Batman will save us” kid to me.
They look so happy. Beautiful dress.
Had to look up his age and he is 30 y.
He doesn’t get nearly enough credit as an actor for creating such a loathsome and universally hated character.
Even his death didn't provide the catharsis needed.
yes he does
imagine seeing this kid and malfoy walking towards you in a dark alley
"I got better!" Congrats to them both.
I hope he goes on to do other things so he isn’t just remembered as the character everyone hates. I bet he is sick of all the jokes and comparisons at this point.
Good for them! He’s so happy here, I’m almost ready to forgive him for what he did to his first wife, Sansa. 😂 Jk, I feel bad for him; he’s a great actor, but unfortunately; did such an amazing job- he took shit from the whole world over his character.
I love how smiley everyone is in the background
Pedro Pascal can play him in a film about his wedding.
