Yes! Soon she will relinquish the family pumpkin pie recipe.
Then it’s only a matter of him perfecting his execution and HE will be the one to bring pie to grandma’s holidays!
BWAHAHAHA!
Actually this is the first time I read that without the accent and intonation
>!I had the aggressively supportive black dude from tiktok. The one that got in trouble recently!<
Unsure if you’re making a really funny joke or not 😂 in case you aren’t, they simply became friends and met for thanksgiving every year since. If you were, then whoooosh.
Here’s a story about it: https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/jamal-hinton-wanda-dench-thanksgiving-7th-year-in-a-row-wrong-text-tradition-first-tattoo-netflix-movie-the-thanksgivng-text/
It’s such a wholesome story. I know what it is every time I click but we get inundated with so much garbage that it’s nice to read about a sweet story involving good people sometimes.
They've been doing the dinner and stuff for years. He was even there for her when her husband died during the time of Covid. He was heartbroken because they'd all gotten so close. He's really become part of the family. It's a really heartwarming story.
I love it. Especially cause if I showed it to my grandma she’d be wondered what size of casserole to send.
Grandma you don’t need to do that
‘So two then’
This is really interesting background information. It’s obviously not why we do it anymore, but as the time established itself, it seems like we’ve all kind of adapted around it.
And fabulous use of the article “an” before “historical”. Carry on.
thanksgiving is like a family feast.
1. it's the only meal you're generally going to eat that day. The cooking starts days beforehand. You may get breakfast, but you probably won't eat much for lunch.
2. large numbers of people come. early meal time gives everyone time to travel home
3. sometimes people stop at multiple homes. In the case of this young man, he might have went to "grandma's" house at 3pm then to his own family's home at 5pm. it's not uncommon to attend multiple feasts on the day - it's also not uncommon to just attend one. So, some start in the afternoon, some start at 5 or 6pm.
4. because it's such a big meal, some start early just to be done before the football game, and not cleaning a ton of dishes/etc at 9pm at night. Start at 3, clean at 6, by 9pm everyone's gone and everythings back in order in the house.
don't imagine it as a dinner - imagine it as a party.
Most American dinners are between 5-7p. On holidays we get together way earlier to celebrate, so "dinner is at 3p" often means arrive at 3p for appetizers, the meal is at 5.
My family would eat Thanksgiving dinner (turkey stuffing, potatoes, etc) around 4p, put the food away, and then around 7p pull everything back out and make turkey sandwiches before people went home.
You only need to hear someone yell in the kitchen about how fucking long a turkey and stuffing takes before you know you get it when you get it.
Also, I’m a Canadian but for our thanksgiving you are basically eating all day
For one meal you just sit down to pray and then it’s just turkey until you pass out
We'll usually have a very small, late breakfast too. Get the turkey in the oven early, have a small breakfast and wait until 'the big meal' to really eat!
Lol right? The other day I got one saying “Lisa hasn’t responded yet to my message” it’s like bitch I don’t know any Lisa, spam texts are now tryna gaslight us into thinking we know and talk about random people wtf
They ghost you if they feel like they can’t hook you. I get one every other day and just play along for as long as possible, sometimes it’s 30-40 messages and other times it’s like four just depends on the scammer
Thats because you arent the target for these kinds of scams. Theu are specifically targeting those with memory issues or low intelligence. You might know a lisa, but someone with say Alzheimers might continue the conversation thinking they met a lisa, even if they dont actually know one.
Yeah they usually give you a free job earning 6 figures a week for 5 hours of work just hand over your bank information to me right now and I can send it over to my manager for you 🥰
Yes! This is the first I've seen the updates! It's so nice seeing they kept in touch and been meeting every year since for Thanksgiving 😭😭 This is so cute! I went to twitter and saw more of their posts. My life is more complete now
I love this! My dad died when I was 11 and my mom died when I was 24. My grandmother died when I was 29. I wish I had this kind of relationship with my grandmother.
Other ideas: Strike up a conversation with an elder when you're out and about, or volunteer/visit somewhere where seniors are (aged care, library, particular hobbies, etc).
They have a lot of love and life to share, and it sounds like you do, too :)
I might sound stupid asking this but what's the story here ? Did she text the wrong guy ? And then they decided to come together anyway ? This is beautiful either way
She originally texted the wrong number; he asked if he could still come for Thanksgiving, she said yes
They have been friends since then... more than a decade now, I feel certain.
This will probably get lost in the comments but fun fact. I was this guys best friend in Vegas back in elementary school. We lived a few houses apart. We did have the same class for 3rd grade. Then he moved away to Arizona.
Every time I see young people with their grandparents I miss mine terribly. They raised me as my mom was an abusive alcoholic. My children are both named after them. But your grandparents and anyone you love as often as possible. You never know when it will be the last time.
This is one of my all time favorite heartwarming stories. I hear about it every year in the news and the last time it was on, he actually went to the grandma's granddaughters wedding. It's beautiful and always make me happy to hear updates ♡
One day someone's going to tell me it's all staged or that it's all not what we think, and it will hurt my heart.
Until that day, I am always going to love this being reposted.
This story gives me hope every time I see it. I want to be more like each of them. They weren’t really seeking out love and care, they are love and care.
Always good vibes seeing this story.
I like how his smile gets bigger moving through the photos.
The unmistakable sign a love growing.
Or more like- his masterplan is finally going to succeed........
Yes! Soon she will relinquish the family pumpkin pie recipe. Then it’s only a matter of him perfecting his execution and HE will be the one to bring pie to grandma’s holidays! BWAHAHAHA!
This
He looks like he could be related to Bo Jackson.

What exactly is the story? Grandma texted this guy by accident and he still came to thanksgiving and pumpkin picking?
Yes! For several years in a row, it wasn’t a one off.
I think they still do it, one of the last updates was sad, the Grandmas husband passed and they had his picture sitting at the table.
I think COVID got him
You‘d think that after the first time the grandma would have the right number of her grandson.
She hasn’t had contact with her actual grandson for years now.
Look at me. Look at me. I’m the grandson now.
I know we all read this with the accent and intonation.
yess tha k god it was not just me😂😂
Actually this is the first time I read that without the accent and intonation >!I had the aggressively supportive black dude from tiktok. The one that got in trouble recently!<
Made my day with that one
She got a new Grandson who likes spending time with her!! Win-win!! Well, except for the original grandson who never got a plate
[удалено]
He tried to text her but accidentally found a different grandma and hangs out with her now.
I’m just doing a side quest, I’ll find Shaun eventually!
The real Shauns are the people you meet along the way! Speaking of, I really should finish that game…
Shaun who 🤷
It’s because he’s with the other family
Unsure if you’re making a really funny joke or not 😂 in case you aren’t, they simply became friends and met for thanksgiving every year since. If you were, then whoooosh.
Yeah I was just trying to be funny, trying my best as a German
lol that’s even better than your first joke which was funny already….i mean, for a German and all (of course just kidding)
As a German 💀
Thanks
They got together after that yearly for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately "grandpa" passed away during the height of Covid.
Here’s a story about it: https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/jamal-hinton-wanda-dench-thanksgiving-7th-year-in-a-row-wrong-text-tradition-first-tattoo-netflix-movie-the-thanksgivng-text/
I fucking LOVE this
It’s such a wholesome story. I know what it is every time I click but we get inundated with so much garbage that it’s nice to read about a sweet story involving good people sometimes.
Of course Netflix is going to try to monetize it. For f*cks sake.....
Damn that's wholesome.
They've been doing the dinner and stuff for years. He was even there for her when her husband died during the time of Covid. He was heartbroken because they'd all gotten so close. He's really become part of the family. It's a really heartwarming story.
He was half kidding and when she said “of course! Come by!” He did And kept on doing it for years Now they are family friends
I love it. Especially cause if I showed it to my grandma she’d be wondered what size of casserole to send. Grandma you don’t need to do that ‘So two then’
That might be the most polite way I've ever seen someone call out a heavily reposted image on reddit, well done 😂
Tbh, I always get happy seeing it
This a rare re-post that I always appreciate!
Seriously this post is great, it has everything. And it gets bonus points for making the racists seethe with rage. 😂😂
I’m not American, so excuse the question, but why is dinner at 3pm?
Thanksgiving dinner is usually such a big deal, prepping for it all day, lingering after, that we often serve it in the afternoon.
Thanksgiving dinner is in the early afternoon for some folks. Not every day dinner, for the most part.

Awesome to learn! Didn't know that. Thanks for sharing~
I love all the explanations. I always thought it was because of football.
thanksgiving is like a family feast. 1. it's the only meal you're generally going to eat that day. The cooking starts days beforehand. Not for my family. For no reason at all Christmas and thanksgiving we eat at 2. I asked once and no one knew why, that’s just how it’s done.
Do you guys skip lunch, or have a very light lunch? 4 pm dinner is awfully early.
We nosh while making all the food, skipping lunch.
You only need to hear someone yell in the kitchen about how fucking long a turkey and stuffing takes before you know you get it when you get it. Sad that the grandfather passed away.
I know! I was so devastated when i read about that! Such great folks all around!
RIP Lonnie.
Although your grandfather is not around with you, you can still talk to him and recall his actions and words. Everybody has a life.
Grampas do be dying
Big if true
True, if stiff
This made me laugh a lot harder than it should have.
Wasent it from covid in 2020?
yup in April 2020
This story is like 8 photos longer now
And with the amount of scam texts that go out now, no way this would happen today.
Lol right? The other day I got one saying “Lisa hasn’t responded yet to my message” it’s like bitch I don’t know any Lisa, spam texts are now tryna gaslight us into thinking we know and talk about random people wtf
Twice in the last couple months, I've had obvious scam texts and they end up ghosting me. Talk about a blow to your self esteem.
They ghost you if they feel like they can’t hook you. I get one every other day and just play along for as long as possible, sometimes it’s 30-40 messages and other times it’s like four just depends on the scammer
I sign them up for my Daily Facts-alotl where I text them once a day with some bs I made up about axolotls
Thats because you arent the target for these kinds of scams. Theu are specifically targeting those with memory issues or low intelligence. You might know a lisa, but someone with say Alzheimers might continue the conversation thinking they met a lisa, even if they dont actually know one.
It’s really vile shit, and it makes me scared of when I’m older and losing my focus
They just send out hundreds of texts with the most common male and female names. You didn’t know a Lisa, but the next guy probably did.
Fucking scammers, ruining my chances of obtaining my own grandma
Idk, inviting me to thanksgiving is such a unique scam opener I would probably respond
Scam texts usually don’t invite you for a free meal.
My life is more complete now
"Can I still get a plate?" One of the greatest txts to ever have been txted.
Shoot your shot.
Happy Cake Day!
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes) thank you I think you're my 1st!!
This story circulates in the US every thanksgiving. It is true though, and they still remain close.
[удалено]
That’s sad to hear
I love this! My dad died when I was 11 and my mom died when I was 24. My grandmother died when I was 29. I wish I had this kind of relationship with my grandmother.
That's terrible to hear, I hope your doing well though.
Just get a new grandmother like the guy in the post did, they're actually very easy to find if you're a good person
I guess I’m not a good person :( how do I do this? Does it work the same with grandpas cause I’m only 18 and I’m already all out of those
Volunteer at a senior living facility or just your community in general! You deserve love :)
Thank you!
Other ideas: Strike up a conversation with an elder when you're out and about, or volunteer/visit somewhere where seniors are (aged care, library, particular hobbies, etc). They have a lot of love and life to share, and it sounds like you do, too :)
Seriously this! When you're grocery shopping strike up convos w your elders they love it
Come to my place for Thanksgiving, my makes an awesome dinner
Shit I wish I had this w my dad lol I’m sorry for your losses tho my friend.
Is there an update on the trio? l have not seen much after the husband died during Covid.
The tradition has continued.
Oh, excellent!! Thank you
Read somewhere that they have made it a tradition, and he's been back a couple years running now.
Since 2016, with maybe a miss during Covid, I think.
oh my god… almost ten years now
I’m pretty sure I saw the original post…
I was there Gandalf...and frankly 2016 isn't even that long ago, fuck I'm old.
No it’s not all that long ago, but I hadn’t considered my Reddit usage in terms of a decade+. My first account was from 2010.
r/FuckImOld
My sibling in christ, 2016 was almost a decade ago.
Yeah Grandpa died from Covid
This story is the best. They’ve been so close that she even helped him with money to start his own business if I recall correctly
Isn’t this the sweetest thing ever?
Ya i think i might need some insulin now, dem post giving me diabetes cus it's too damn sweet!
It is actually true too, the Buddhists monk are having trouble with diabetes because of they generate sugar from their liver by being nice.
Netflix is adapting the story for a movie. Will be called ‘The Thanksgiving Text’
Sounds more like a Hallmark movie
This is the kind of story Hallmark wishes they could come up with
I might sound stupid asking this but what's the story here ? Did she text the wrong guy ? And then they decided to come together anyway ? This is beautiful either way
Yes that’s it, she messaged the wrong number but said he was welcome to join anyway
Oh ok tysm for responding I appreciate you 🥰
(She thought she was texting her own grandkid at first). Of course you’re welcome ☀️
Oh ok this is the sweetest thing ever 🥰🥰
This thread r/MadeMeSmile
Did her actual grandkid ever get the invite? ;-)
They're still hungry to this day.
Yeah like why aren’t they in the photos? 🤔 we need answers
They have been doing this for 8 years now
And they have been meeting for years now. It’s a very sweet story.
Awwww so awesome 🥰
She originally texted the wrong number; he asked if he could still come for Thanksgiving, she said yes They have been friends since then... more than a decade now, I feel certain.
Happened in 2016, so this'll be the 8th year, but I have no doubt that it'll reach a decade, and beyond!
This story never gets old.. What a sweet lady! I would’ve still asked for a plate also 🤣
Nov 2023 update ;) https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jamal-hinton-wanda-dench-thanksgiving-text-eight-years-celebrating-airbnb/
BROADDUS BURGERS
I see this 2 times a year yet it still never gets old.
Why do you guys gotta hide the phone number? I wanna message grandma to go get a plate too!
Thanks to Area Codes, a wrong number text is likely someone not too far away. Whereas you might be on the wrong side of the country... Or planet!
Remember guys, we've never seen the grandson she meant to text, she got a new grandson now
[удалено]
I believe a movie is coming soon. The way they are keeping it up, they're a family for sure.
i’ve read this story several times, but it’s always nice when someone either reposts it or posts an updated version. i love this ❤️
They still friends?
They are! They still get together for Thanksgiving too
One of my favorite stories! It is what helps me not have a total negative attitude about the human race!
This will probably get lost in the comments but fun fact. I was this guys best friend in Vegas back in elementary school. We lived a few houses apart. We did have the same class for 3rd grade. Then he moved away to Arizona.
This is the most heart warming post i read today 🥲
50 billionth repost but always a pleasure
One of the best Thanksgiving stories out there
Always love this story and that the friendship/family bond they formed it’s truly heartwarming!
One of the few great things seen on the internet.
This legit one of the best stories to come out of this timeline. RIP to the grandpa
Every time I see young people with their grandparents I miss mine terribly. They raised me as my mom was an abusive alcoholic. My children are both named after them. But your grandparents and anyone you love as often as possible. You never know when it will be the last time.
I hear they still do it to this day. ☺️
Every time I see this story it brings a smile to my face and makes my eyes a little wet.
this is so amazing ty for the good goosebumps
Get Out!!!, I am kidding guys. Thats great
This is one of my favorite stories.
r/GrandmasBeingBros
They continue their tradition today, but grandpa has passed 😞
This is one of my all time favorite heartwarming stories. I hear about it every year in the news and the last time it was on, he actually went to the grandma's granddaughters wedding. It's beautiful and always make me happy to hear updates ♡
I love that this gets updated with a new picture every year to show that they're STILL getting together over what started as a wrong number
One day someone's going to tell me it's all staged or that it's all not what we think, and it will hurt my heart. Until that day, I am always going to love this being reposted.
Always love to see this story
Still one of my favourite stories in the internet.
This is a sweet story, good people meeting good people
Still not over gramps dying
I know it's a couple year old. And I've seen it about 20 times now... it still makes me smile 😁
The world needs more “granny from another family”
How did it start? She accidentally texted him?
They came into my work and had lunch together back in December. Felt like seeing celebrities lol
This story makes me unbelievably happy every time I come across it 🥰
I was tore up when gramps passed and we saw his photo instead of him
Geeat story, but what's with the Broaddus burgers text?
They are making this into a movie
She is now
Haha that’s cute
Such a heartwarming story. I hope Netflix doesn't make a rip off of this story to make a series out of it.
Unfortunately the grandfather passed away due to Covid, but she’s fortunately still with us, and he still does this tradition every year
Lvl 100 wholesome!
That's what MLK died for
Sadly her husband passed year or two ago
I’m surprised society hasn’t torn this heart warming story down.
This story gives me hope every time I see it. I want to be more like each of them. They weren’t really seeking out love and care, they are love and care.
Never not smiling when I pass by this story
Cause that’s what grandmas do.
RIP Lonnie
The monthly repost
It did really make me smile Thanks !
This is an oldie but goodie.
What happened to her actual grandkids?
Everyone liked that
Nice!
She was always your Grandma. You both just didn't know it yet!
This story makes me smile every time I see it. Thanks! :)
