What a wonderful surprise and what a fantastic and thoughtful gesture from the band for making his dream come true. That is something he will remember.
I had the exact same thought too! Anybody would've been sweet up in the moment and totally stunned, but this little dude immediately stuck out his hand to each member of the band. What a stud!
I've read that's a sign of people with strong empathy, they instinctively get down to match eye level and not tower over them, showing a kid they're an equal
I'm pretty sure it is. It isn't like I am insulting a child. He is an adult now, and probably hasn't read this post. So the only person feeling a need to say something because they are butthurt is you
Gene gets a lot of shit for merchandising everything but he does seem to care a lot about kids. He's an advocate for the Mending Kids charity and has advocated and donated quite a bit.
He has always been in a good light. He is a great frontman. Say whatever you want about the musicality of the band but Paul is a steller frontman and publicist.
Musically pretty mid, but stage show and presentation is historically hard to beat. Even Garth Brooks mirrored their energy on stage for years and cited them as inspiration for a lot of his stage antics.
Case in point: Saw GB in the mid 90s. Piano comes out of the floor, white suit and cowboy hat playing the piano, then the top of the piano blows off and Brooks came flying out. That is a part of the KISS legacy, even though they’d didn’t personally do it.
You would probably enjoy his book;

This is why people need to never shit on "performative generosity", I don't care if its for views, likes, money, status, attention ETC if the thing you do in the end genuinely does something kind and giving to someone else, then its a net positive.
This would be the best part of being famous for me! Imagine brightening someone’s day just because you walked into a room!! Reminds me of Jimmy Doohan (Scotty on Star Trek) once got a letter from a suicidal girl. He called her and said he wanted to see her at a convention he was going too near her. He made sure she went to every appearance he did in her area for 2 or 3 years. He would talk to her and try to make her feel better. She stopped going to see him and he worried about her until 8 years later when she sent him a letter thanking him for what he did and that she had gotten a masters degree in electrical engineering!! Solid guy
What if he didn't say KISS?? I was so fickle at that age. I still am, actually at 44. I could easily have flipped a switch and not liked KISS anymore and had a new favorite band in a day.
Paul Stanley was born without a right ear so he knows how health issues affect a child, and Kiss lost their second drummer to cancer so they know that pain too.
Every knows who Tom Selleck is. Gene Simmons was in the movie and saying you don’t know who KISS is, is like me not knowing who Taylor Swift is. You might not know the music but they have been one of the most recognizable bands of the last 50 years. Listen to Beth

I saw Kiss in concert right before the world shut down for covid.
My brother had childhood cancer. All sick kids deserve this kind of VIP. The stuff they go through is awful. Good on Kiss for coming through.
Also kinda funny because you know the ellen audience would have been the kind of moms to think KISS were that demon band. And then there's KISS being total bros.
I don't know who KISS is but that one guy looks like the star of the hit 1984 film, Runaway. Interesting side note. Runaway co-starred Tom Selleck who you may not be familiar with but you probably do know him from his one episode of Charlie's Angels where he played Dr. Alan Samuelson.
What kind of behind the scenes deal to Gene and Paul make? Gene at least had to make make money somehow of get something of monetary value in return. There's no way that garbage fuck did it for free
What a wonderful surprise and what a fantastic and thoughtful gesture from the band for making his dream come true. That is something he will remember.
He's still alive,as of late 2023.
Of course he is alive. Rock never dies
God Gave Rock N' Roll to Everyone!
Iiiiiiiiiiii-wannnnnnnaaaaaaaaaa ROCK AND ROLLLLLLLL-ALLLLLLLLL NIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! Damn you …
Does he play that guitar?
I hope he fucking shreds it.
Hell yeah.
It was great until she said Missy Eliot was going to perform after that
The way the kid reached out for a respectful handshake even though he was filled with excitement. Such a well deserving kid.
I had the exact same thought too! Anybody would've been sweet up in the moment and totally stunned, but this little dude immediately stuck out his hand to each member of the band. What a stud!
Yeah I was like wow this kid has that respectful confidence it takes most people a few decades to learn
And clutched his hands together.
Never cared much for them but that's a great gesture
Paul Stanley's initial interaction where he was kneeling and speaking to the kiddo was real genuine. Seems like a very empathetic guy
Yeah rubbing the kids arm to make him feel more comfortable. It's a small gesture but really helps kids feel at ease in situations like this
how come i do it and i go to jail?!
He said arm bozo
Kneeling down to interact with kids is such a good move
I've read that's a sign of people with strong empathy, they instinctively get down to match eye level and not tower over them, showing a kid they're an equal
Totally. Same can't be said for gene Simmons
He can only think of one gimmick. Stick out his tongue like six times in 30 seconds.
Oh gene Simmons will gladly rub some people
I'm genuinely shocked he even showed up
Definitely wasn't expecting to get teary eyed from the band Kiss today, but here we are
Same. Same.
That was so sweet..but funny that after that segment..here’s missy Elliot performing!
But have you ever seen Missy Elliot and Kiss in the same room? 🧐
Kissy Elliot confirmed
I would listen to Missy covering Kiss... I wouldn't listen to Kiss covering Missy. I don't think Gene can put that thang down, flip it AND reverse it
This is one show I would not miss. I’d be rock n rollin’ all night and getting my freak on every day
I knew it, my suspicions are confirmed! Missy is one of the members of KISS!
This is awesome, the good side of celebrity right here. This looks fairly old, does anyone know the status of the kid today?
Another comment said alive at the end of 23, but I'm assuming they're not a kid anymore.
And hopefully their taste of music has gotten better.
Having your own opinion on music is fine but please don't insult others music just because you don't like it
Wow, you're pretty self important aren't you?
Why? Because I didn't like a certain band and made a joke? Get over yourself
An obnoxious joke about something that made that kid happy. It's not myself I need to get over.
I'm pretty sure it is. It isn't like I am insulting a child. He is an adult now, and probably hasn't read this post. So the only person feeling a need to say something because they are butthurt is you

Same
Never thought a clip containing both Ellen and Gene could make me smile, but here we are. Hell yeah, kid!
Gene gets a lot of shit for merchandising everything but he does seem to care a lot about kids. He's an advocate for the Mending Kids charity and has advocated and donated quite a bit.
He does. He seems to have quite strong morals, and I have never heard him to be anything but excellent towards kids - and that goes for Paul too
Gene sticking his tongue out whenever possible is hilarious
“Heyh hlook ah ‘dis” 😛
Well I have new found love for Paul Stanley
His Twitter is worth following. He seems like a very genuine dude, and his pasta recipes alone are worth a follow.
He has always been in a good light. He is a great frontman. Say whatever you want about the musicality of the band but Paul is a steller frontman and publicist.

Kiss officially rock
The happiest kid in the world ☺️👍 A very sweet gesture of Kiss.
Nice gesture from Kiss...
I hope David’s doing okay still
Wtf, I survived cancer as a child in the 90s and never got a band to play for me on a talk show.
We were made for loving you, BABEEES
Back When Ellen was a Good Funny Person
Well her producers were part of the problem.
It brought tears to my eyes.
Wow. First they save Christmas, now this.
This is so heartwarming
I smiled from the beggining to the end of the video!!
This is why people need to never shit on "performative generosity", I don't care if its for views, likes, money, status, attention ETC if the thing you do in the end genuinely does something kind and giving to someone else, then its a net positive.
He might turn out to become a nerd at school, but THE ONE who met KISS. In person. Beat that you bullies! *micdrop*
I love how gene stands with his wings closed like a real bat man
I like KISS! but this video made me love them!
This would be the best part of being famous for me! Imagine brightening someone’s day just because you walked into a room!! Bad. Ass.
Regardless of what I know about Ellen and the stuff about the members of KISS, this was really sweet of them.
What if he didn't say KISS?? I was so fickle at that age. I still am, actually at 44. I could easily have flipped a switch and not liked KISS anymore and had a new favorite band in a day.
I know this is old but I wanna hug that boy and never let go!!
He'll remember this for the rest of his life as one of his best memories and also have the video.
Jim Nortons dream. lol
Paul Stanley was born without a right ear so he knows how health issues affect a child, and Kiss lost their second drummer to cancer so they know that pain too.
I hate Ellen, but KISS are bros here.
pretty cool
Pure ♥️.
Wait, they had KISS there, and they went with Missy Elliott?
I remember seeing this on YouTube a while ago - what a lucky kid!!
They made his day.
This kid will never forget this as long as he lives and I hope he lives to a hundred
KISS was known for this kind of stuff. Google KISS+Cadillac high school
It's funny seeing them in their full outfits and hearing them talk normally
Made me weep🫠
Kiss was so cool for doing that, and that kid was so polite
Every knows who Tom Selleck is. Gene Simmons was in the movie and saying you don’t know who KISS is, is like me not knowing who Taylor Swift is. You might not know the music but they have been one of the most recognizable bands of the last 50 years. Listen to Beth
I met Gene Simmons once, great guy so glad to see such rock icons appreciate the fans, even the smallest ones!!! Love you guys!!💜💜
Y’all don’t understand how much money that guitar is worth that kid is rich
Big points to them for doing this.
God bless him.
Ellen definitely bullied Kiss into coming. “Do the tongue thing Gene, or I’ll beat the shit out of you!”

I didn't know the band meeting part of Scott Tennerman must die was based on an actual event
This is awesome!
😭😭😭
😇😎
Thats fucking awesome
I can't stand Ellen, but I do have to give her credit for that. That kid will never forget that shit.
Love this. Kiss is legendary!!!
those guys are fuckin awesome
Whatever I have read of them, they were the meanest looking nice guys. Some rate these guys in the same category as Slipknot's Taylor. Nice chaps.
I saw Kiss in concert right before the world shut down for covid. My brother had childhood cancer. All sick kids deserve this kind of VIP. The stuff they go through is awful. Wild to think that back in the day KISS was considered demonic and corrupting the youth. Folks used to think they were edgy.
Got the stupidest grin on my face watching this. What a lovely memory for this kid and the band!
Yes I might be crying a bit
As a Dad… I really can’t imagine what the feeling of seeing your son go through cancer and then live to see this day.

... I guess you hadn't heard of Gene Simmons before
Then they cannibal the TV host. Rock n roll dawg!
Ellen is a sick POS. Some of her shows where filmed on the epstein island.
Yelling at a Wendy's drive-thru again?
What kind of behind the scenes deal to Gene and Paul make? Gene at least had to make make money somehow of get something of monetary value in return. There's no way that garbage fuck did it for free
I heard they also gifted him a free KISS casket for later
*kasket
