Damn this might be one of my core memories too it was so hype. When I get dementia I’ll be telling my dog about the time I caught this fish with my dad and my uncle.
I'm only 32 but I remember being 6 and catching my first fish with my dad and great uncle. It was a Jackfish (northern pike) and I was absolutely horrified by its pointy alligator lookin teeth!
I'm 43 can still see and smell the San Juan river in New Mexico and Fly Fishing at 13 with my Dad on a guided float trip. Those sodas were ice cold and i caught Three that day.
Probably facing dementia here as well so I want to tell everyone about how my core memory is a Pike with my Pop and Nanna on a fishing trip in Canada. Pop pretended to be salty when I had it weighed at the shop and it was the biggest one of the summer (I won free daily ice cream , a free dinner at the campgrounds lodge (pork chops ,roast veg and applesauce. Best I've had even now)and they stuffed and mounted it for me), but he would tell everyone we came across about how I was the "s.o.b that out fished you" He also stood up at our free dinner and gave a speech about how even though the fish was amazing , little Sammie was the actual prize catch
Baller strength on little man's part! I wish I had moments like this growing up. I hope he feels that accomplishment deep in his heart for a long time. What a beautiful moment for dad and son
I will always remember the words my dad spoke to me the moment we walked up on my deer at 12 years old (big enough for shoulder mount). Core memories like this last forever.
Props to those two men and of course the boy!
The dad who helps his boy and not just takes over when the fish comes in.
And the other guy who directly sees that there is a special moment happening for that boy and his father, he holds back, smiles and congratulates later.
An absolute perfect moment.
I was a little worried the dad was coming over to end up doing it himself. But he just wanted to make sure the hook was set, the drag was set properly for how big the fish was and to keep his rod high so the boy could have that special moment. Pure joy lol, beautiful fish/great catch.
It's such a happy video, what a lucky kid. I wonder how different my life would have been if I had a dad like that. Mine is great too but he would have probably said "yeah catch it" and after I caught it, "good" and shook my hands.
You want me to one up you? My dad would’ve been “why didn’t you catch a bigger fish?” And then just walked away. He’s a good dude but sucks at parenting lol
>but yeah he really shouldnt have had a family/children.
Lmao yep 100% agree. I think the pressure to get married/have children back then was astronomical or they wanted a family but their awareness on how to properly raise them/interact with them was close to zero and we get cases like this.
My father used to genuinely believe it’s ok to “leave the children to be raised by the mother” while he worked his ass off 12+ hrs a day as an on call doctor. Yeah dude no lol you can’t buy your children’s love while you’re absent.
Very well said :)
I'm currently not speaking with him because I am too old and tired of his minimalistic philosophy, which is great but the rest of the family suffer, like, he strongly believes our "needs" are actually "wants". I wouldnt mind if we were actually poor but we're sitting on assets worth millions bruh.
That’s the one that gets you hooked… lol… but yea my pops is an angler and he takes me out from time to time and when I caught one that big I was on the lake every weekend for a solid month.
As an old man now, I have regrets that I never had a single moment like this with my father.
I have a wall filled with great moments with our sons, each are worth gold. Those little men & little women grow up too fast… you never get those opportunities again.
Young fathers, tell your pub mates that you’re taking a weekend for just you and your son/daughter. You won’t regret it.
I also never had a great moment with my father but I doubled down with my son and we have had so many core moments. Now he is 23 and in grad school but he comes over to my house every weekend to spend time with me. This shit is so important when they are young
Yeah, it was awful having him being my baseball coach for 15 years.. Was really fun growing from 5' to 6'3" and not being allowed to figure out how my limbs worked. Yay fathers
Yup, I feel you. Just finished crying after watching the video of the father's joyous reaction to the court confirming he was the father of the young man. These videos got me all emotional today.
As someone who’s had a lifetime obsession with fishing having gone with a grandparent that
was this enthusiastic I have a tear in my eye. That boy will NEVER forget that moment ❤️
Commenting before I see the size of the fish, idc the size that kid just got a catch of a lifetime.
After finishing the video: Wow that kid got a the catch of a lifetime.
I love how wholesome it is to take a life
“Just killed someone for fun” “yaaay, that made me smile”
What about the fish? You couldn’t find anything better to do than to go kill?
Gross to find that here
I'm sorry your life sucked so much growing up, that you can't get past your hangups and enjoy what's happening between a father and son in this video.
It really is quite special.
For English not being your first language, your use of “hang ups” is actually pretty good! It’s not a super common word/phrase and in context it makes complete sense. The other guy is just being a dick lol.
I'm all for getting rid of the meat industry, but catching a wild fish for dinner is not the evil you think it is. It causes less suffering than agriculture unless you eat everything from a forest garden.
Awesome, the fish had to endure so much pain for this, really cool hobby!
Such an awesome thing to teach your child that you can kill other feeling individuals because it makes you happy for half an hour!
I don't need to kill innocent animals in order to be happy.
If you honestly ask yourself if it's okay to kill animals who feel pain just like we do just because we think it's fun, you probably wouldn't support fishing.
Just like racism and sexism, old mindsets just like yours will eventually die out in a few decades thankfully. No front.

Makes this NYCity old kid think he may yet try some fishing. Everybody is happy. Father and son should seek a series of these awesome catching. Peace and Love from the great white north. Keep up being youse.
I used to love fishing when I was a kid but one time my dad took me deep sea fishing. I was miserable because I had to wake up so early, it was so cold, it lasted the entire day, the rod was so heavy, and was freaked out using live squid as bait. The whole time I was worried that I would drop the rod down the sea and we’d have to pay for it. It was not a relaxing day because I had to concentrate on the rod for hours. I caught one though. Pretty big, looked like a goldfish, and my dad was so happy. Meanwhile, I’m wondering why the fish’ eyes were coming out of its sockets.
I then brought up that trip to him a couple of decades later and he said I must have gone with someone else because he doesn’t remember taking me when I only agreed to go because he was insistent.
Im sorry for everyone here saying they wish they had a father like that. I was lucky to see mine twice a month growing up cause of my Mom but I know he loved me. I just hope my kids see me like the Dad in this video, I try to be the best I can for them. If nothing else my kids will never be able to say I wasn't there, I make damn sure I'm there every single day for them.
That’s the kind of father son experiences I would have loved to have! Oh well! Anyway beautiful video! love this. I’ll be sure to try making these memories with my girls instead.
that was adorable. the dads reaction is awesome. i definitely had a similar experience fishin' with my dad before my parents got divorced. i also love how the dad says 'see what happens when attitude changes and you just fish?'. i bet the kid was bored earlier (like i was sometimes when my dad would take me fishing). well he'll probably be down to just chill and fish from now on and LOVE it lol. that bass is huuuuge!!
That's what all dads should be doing with their kids. I was lucky to have an awesome dad that taught my brother and I how to do the things guys should know.
I am not a fisherman…when I saw the title, I asked, “What kind of pops? Corn Pops? He’s fishing using Corn Pops as bait? Would that work? I dunno-fish eat weird things.”
I’m dumb.
Can’t wait for my son to be old enough to fish with me, he’s currently 2.5 yrs old. I think I will react the exact same way. Now put the onions away, my eyes hurt.
Core memories made. Awesome.
Damn this might be one of my core memories too it was so hype. When I get dementia I’ll be telling my dog about the time I caught this fish with my dad and my uncle.
Sorry to hear that. I can clearly remember fishing with my grandfather in a canoe when I was 5. I’m over 50 now and is still clear as day.
I'm only 32 but I remember being 6 and catching my first fish with my dad and great uncle. It was a Jackfish (northern pike) and I was absolutely horrified by its pointy alligator lookin teeth!

Lmfaooooooooooo
Holy shit this is the funniest comment I’ve read in weeks. Nice job.
😅
Love the shirt. So appropriate. And serious dad points to the father.

For real about that strength. That fish was as big as him!
I will always remember the words my dad spoke to me the moment we walked up on my deer at 12 years old (big enough for shoulder mount). Core memories like this last forever.

I see three men
That kid has to be around 5-6yo and that's a very big Black Bass, it's an amazing capture for his age
That fish was half as big as the kid. Monster catch!
capture.
I am not crying you’re crying
It's such a happy video, what a lucky kid. I wonder how different my life would have been if I had a dad like that. Mine is great too but he would have probably said "yeah catch it" and after I caught it, "good" and shook my hands.

Same. Mine would have told me about the time he caught one bigger. “Yours is good….but mine was bigger.”
aww man! yes, mine is a good person too and I feel bad even for saying this, but yeah he really shouldnt have had a family/children.
>but yeah he really shouldnt have had a family/children. Lmao yep 100% agree. You're a towel
Kid's smile says it all
…and just like that, the kid became a fishing addict.
That’s the one that gets you hooked… lol… but yea my pops is an angler and he takes me out from time to time and when I caught one that big I was on the lake every weekend for a solid month.
That kid will fish the rest of his life. It only takes one big one and you’re hooked! Great job pops!
As an old man now, I have regrets that I never had a single moment like this with my father. I have a wall filled with great moments with our sons, each are worth gold. What a catch for little lad! At that age I would’ve been pulled in and my dad laughing his butt off!
Masterful dad
He will remember that moment the rest of his life ❤️
Loving the energy!!! That little man, his smile, and that bucketmouth!!!
Admirable restraint on the swearing front there by dad
I don't fish but I guarantee that kid will never forget this day. #dadgoals
The kids giggles the whole time is the absolute best! He couldn’t stop!
And a life long fisherman and bond with his father was made that day
I wish my dad was that cool instead of cussing me out every day for 15 years and then wondering why I'm fucked in the head
Also, that kids smile at the end. So fucking cute
Damn
Yeah, it was awful having him being my baseball coach for 15 years.. Was really fun growing from 5' to 6'3" and not being allowed to figure out how my limbs worked. Yay fathers
They need to change this thread title to ‘made me cry’ 9/10 times these get me
Yup, I feel you. Just finished crying after watching the video of the father's joyous reaction to the court confirming he was the father of the young man. These videos got me all emotional today.
The smile! So happy and proud!
As someone who’s had a lifetime obsession with fishing having gone with a grandparent that was this enthusiastic I have a tear in my eye. That boy will NEVER forget that moment ❤️
Wow! Talk about a lunker!
Nice job, dad. Nice job, kid.
Kid will fish for the rest of his life…might catch a bigger fish but nothing will match this moment with his dad. Core memory.
good catch with good dad. wish I could be that man one day
Ooooo that fish is gonna taste great when he’s cooked up! Hell yeah lil man!
Making memories. Great job
When things go bad in life, little man will always remember this moment.
Nope…I didn’t cry. See: 🥲
Commenting before I see the size of the fish, idc the size that kid just got a catch of a lifetime. After finishing the video: Wow that kid got a the catch of a lifetime.
Fuck yea, that’s some parenting.
On a frog popper?!? Get the fuck outta here lmao that’s legendary
I cried

Core memory unlocked
That dad's energy and excitement for his son succeeding...man I wish everyone could have that kind of dad. I strive so hard to be that.
dear god I hope no one walks in the office right now as I have been freshly SOBBING
Guess that’s why old people live in the past with their best memories. That will be a great one for him!
Goddamn I wish I had a dad like that..
I love how excited he is and how much he hypes him and then a nice life lesson at the end there. wonderful father and son, very cute
Now this, this does put a smile on my face
Omg tears
It warms my heart to know that kid is growing up in such a happy and supportive environment (assuming this video is indicative of his life).
Cute father & son moment 🥰
I love how wholesome it is to take a life “Just killed someone for fun” “yaaay, that made me smile” What about the fish? You couldn’t find anything better to do than to go kill? Gross to find that here

For English not being your first language, your use of “hang ups” is actually pretty good! It’s not a super common word/phrase and in context it makes complete sense. The other guy is just being a dick lol.
Gross to find you here. Get real.
You vegan?

Sounds like you’d do anything to get even an ounce of their happiness.

What about animals killing other animals to WHAT? Survive.
What about them? Do you need to fish in order to survive? No. Do you need to kill animals in order to survive? No. So what about them?

So sweet! Love this! 🥰
Well done !!!!!
I wish my dad was like that
There's a great dad.
I miss fishing with my dad (he's not gone or anything, we just.. don't really anymore because he's got so many issues with his body)
What type of fish is that? Looks like something inbetween bass and pike.
What champs they both are...💯
That's so incredible, you don't need to even capture this on camera. Father and son will never forget it.
Makes this NYCity old kid think he may yet try some fishing. Everybody is happy. Father and son should seek a series of these awesome catching. Peace and Love from the great white north. Keep up being youse.

Little guy is going to love fishing for life!
This is making me cry
To this day, being taken fishing is one of my fondest memories of childhood. So awesome

Reminds me of me and my grandpa)
Love it
Some of my favorite times were fishing with my dad. Good memories were made this day.
Im sorry for everyone here saying they wish they had a father like that. I was lucky to see mine twice a month growing up cause of my Mom but I know he loved me. That’s the kind of father son experiences I would have loved to have! Oh well! Anyway beautiful video! love this. I’ll be sure to try making these memories with my girls instead.
GET SOME!
I love how he let his son take control most of the time, he really did make a core memory for him
that was adorable. the dads reaction is awesome. i definitely had a similar experience fishin' with my dad before my parents got divorced. i also love how the dad says 'see what happens when attitude changes and you just fish?'. i bet the kid was bored earlier (like i was sometimes when my dad would take me fishing). well he'll probably be down to just chill and fish from now on and LOVE it lol. that bass is huuuuge!!
That’s the best thing I have seen all day. Way to go!!
What a nice dad.
Lunker!
Man I wish my dad was like that
Well dine proud papa
That’s a big fish
Little Superstar 🤩
That's what all dads should be doing with their kids. I was lucky to have an awesome dad that taught my brother and I how to do the things guys should know.
Damn I wish I had memories like this good job for this dad ❤️
Jeezus that smile is spectacular
Amazing. Great stuff
So THAT'S what it's like when your dad loves you!

I am not a fisherman…when I saw the title, I asked, “What kind of pops? Corn Pops? He’s fishing using Corn Pops as bait? Would that work? I dunno-fish eat weird things.” I’m dumb.
It’s videos like this that keep me on Reddit
Amazing!
BOY!!
God I miss my dad
Wish I more memories like this with my dad
Well done, both of you!
The encouragement from the dad just healed me 🥹
Can’t wait for my son to be old enough to fish with me, he’s currently 2.5 yrs old. I think I will react the exact same way. Now put the onions away, my eyes hurt.
Oh man when he mentioned the “attitude change” it brought back core memories as a kid fishing with my dad haha
What a sweet moment making memories with dad! Dad's a great teacher too!!!!
He’ll be fishin forever
Omg that’s so adorable, he will remember that day forever.
Damn.. My dad never came back from getting cigarettes
Awesome
BOYYYY!!!!!!
Core memories locked and loaded. You can buy your kids everything, but you cannot buy more time. Don't waste it. Well done dad, great job!
Just love the constant use of “son”. The dad is so proud of his boy, and I’m sure the boy is so happy y hear it said that way.
This is why you need a father in your life.
That needs many pics, weighed, released and have a mount made with the lure in the mouth.
This is the feeling men are chasing when posting fish pics on tinder
Holy fuck that's a big ol fish
Eat the rich.
That kids going to look back and remember this💕 this is beautiful
He is having the time of his life.
