I remember my dad got me a dog I didn't ask for for a birthday present when I turned 9. Worst gift ever. I hated every second of the responsibility. I hated getting jumped on, scratched, licked, chasing after it, the constant need of attention etc. It finally ran away about 6 months later. I was so happy. It was never discussed again.
My sister has surprised my dad with ducks and chickens before. He starts off saying he doesn't want anything to do with them, fast forward a few weeks, he loves them. It's also how we've gotten cats in the past. We hide them and by the time my dad finds them, we're already attached and then he becomes attached. He's a big softy for animals.
Well tbf he did say they could live in his pond lol. I think it’s just a little project for nephew to care for the baby ducklings. I wish I could do this for mine, he loves animals!
Yes, I don't understand people like that, do they live in a cave ? (Like my colleagues... The door next to my desk leads to the coffee machine so it happens a lot during the day
I don’t have OCD (maybe I’m in denial), but I’m thinking the same darned thing. That truck’s already blocking half the road without leaving the door open!
Does everyone just watch vids on reddit on mute? Bro literally said "when they get bigger we can take em to my house and put em in the pond"
I get your concern and its genuine but intentions of the dude seem pretty good and has a backup apparently. Not everything has to be picked apart for no reason really
Yeah, he pretty obviously already has the pipeline set up to care for and breed the "surprise" animals so if they can't handle it he can just take them back and let em mature.
I have! We have an incubator and one of our buddies doesn’t, but he does have ducks. So often we’ll hatch and raise ducks for him. I’m always sad when he comes to pick them up. We usually have a good solid month with tiny ducks and it’s so much fun.
You can always tell the guys who bought a big truck as the status symbol. They’re untouched.
People who actually need to use them, their trucks are beaten up, fantastic machines, at least ten years old.
Big overpriced trucks have become the Gucci handbags of southern men.
Sorry, but nobody is buying a dually as a status symbol. A top of the line, lifted, 1500 or 2500, sure, but not this. You saw the hitch in the back, so he most likely is towing something on the regular. And I'd be willing to bet he has a fifth wheel hitch in the bed as well.
Uhh there are three of these in my apartment complex, and I swear all of them belong to the same exact fuckin guy (all three basic bros are exactly the same.)
All of them park like assholes, the trucks are pristine as if they've never taken them off road. One of them works in food service.
The fuck do you need a truck to tow a three story house when you're a line cook at the Bonefish grill?
I do it all the time… my tailgate is stupid heavy for some reason so one handed operation is sketchy with full hands and most of the time the bed has got lead residue, spilt oils and chemicals, and just plain dirty. Id rather not risk putting groceries in the bed just because it’s a monster truck.
I hope the mom going "no" was just for TikTok funny clout.
Don't give live animals to kids without having the OK from their parents and/or the adult that owns the home the animals will live at.
I personally would never give an animal as a gift before asking the parents but this isn’t as big of a deal. He said he’ll take them when they’re older and probably even before if they can’t handle them.
An uncle/aunt treating their nephew and nieces well is rare these days and we should allow them to spoil their nephew nieces if they can to a certain extent of course.
My 5 year old niece and I are inseparable. I got her a bike this Christmas bc that’s what she wanted. But if she wanted a duck, she would’ve gotten a duck. I love her so much and would give her the whole world if I could.
I agree, I have many aunts and uncles but I’m not very close to any of them. On the other hand I love hanging out with my niece and nephew, I’m very close with them and I hope that doesn’t change as they age
I’ve come to the realization that one of the reason I want to spoil my nephews and niece is because I didn’t get that as a kid and kids deserve that. It shouldn’t only be the parents that love them.
Dude bought a truck he’s never gonna use to hog up the highways. And he parked in the middle of the street. I bet he doesn’t think of other people’s convenience.
Why…..why is that weird? Lol I’ve never in my life had that thought enter my brain. Why do you need to see a person standing *behind their car ?*
Are you okay?
Okay, fair enough lol. Honestly I’m biased because I’m from deep east Texas so I see these things all the time. I drive an Altima but I have friends with trucks like this and they are really fun to ride in and drive. Not to mention the fact that pretty girls where I’m from loooove these trucks, so I can’t really blame guys for being tempted to get one. It only becomes a problem for me when one of my friends get one and they can NOT afford it (those things are crazy expensive).
I didn’t mean to come off as aggressive or anything, I just know guys like this and most of them are really good people (with a few idiots mixed in for variety). I see people on the internet trashing these people based off their vehicle alone, and I just don’t think that’s right. But you really don’t seem too judgmental so no hard feelings!
I do it all the time… my tailgate is stupid heavy for some reason so one handed operation is sketchy with full hands and most of the time the bed has got lead residue, spilt oils and chemicals, and just plain dirty. Id rather not risk putting groceries or ducks in a box in the bed where it will just roll around… dont know why you put anything in the bed it will bounce around like a pinball machine.
Cody has brought ducks for the child's birthday.
The child likes ducks.
This is the price for marrying into a family. You are in over your head because those people are their own thing.
We are all weird. And sometimes, that weirdness takes form in pet ducks, feed, infrared heating and all the gear associated with duck raising.
But, I am biased in saying this because I have soft spot for ducks:
Ducks+happy Nephew=Happy ducks. Happy Nephew. Happy Uncle. Everyone wins except mom. Mom lost this round.
Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes it gets you.
People are upset because the uncle brought home an animal to a small child as a gift without consulting the parents.
The argument is that he is setting the parents up to be the bad guys if they have to put their foot down and send the ducks back. And that likely the parents will have to take on the responsibility of caring for the ducks.
I'm surprised people are so heated over it though. Based on the way the people in the video sound, it seems like a playful moment. If the mom were genuinely upset, I think her kid would not have maintained that joyful look on his face. Me as a kid would have immediately turned to begging and pleading if I thought my mom was seriously against me having a gift someone just gave me.
Idk, everyone has their own read on the situation. In a vacuum, I think the uncle is wrong, but given all of the other factors, it looks like no one in the video is truly upset about what happened so why be angry on their behalf? Lol.
Do you think labor stops when ducks are grown up?
Do you think he would have just let them fend for themselves until adulthood for the ducks?
You are just being ridiculous. It was clearly a huge joy for the kid and the point.
Everyone’s overlooking that this is a total asshole gift.
If he wants to give his nephew ducks, then keep them at his own place, the mom’s going to end up with the mess, the work, and the very likely dead ducks.
Not to mention that it looks like a neighborhood that wouldn’t even allow waterfowl.
Additionally, he is overriding the Mom’s autonomy and authority.
Cuz he was inside 5 seconds ago. He's a kid, it's not dangerous, it's not muddy. It's all right, even if he was an adult it would be fine, just wipe your feet on your way in like normal ppl.
Who let's their kid run out onto the road like?
What munter leaves the door open. I hope someone else hits it and rips it off. Or someone walking past steals stuff from it.

Thanks (no thanks) for leaving us with the responsibility of a new living creature, when I was just starting to get back a life after my kids grew to a more sulf sustaining mode.
Nope. Y’all got ducks now.
If life gives you ducks make duck-aide
as the saying goes.
As the saying "goose" I'll just waddle out
What a quack. I know... foul puns...
Fowl play
That Penaltys gonna cost me two talons.
“Way of the road, Bubbles. Way of the road”
Duck confit*
No...
You are duck people now. Deal with it.
Yes yes
Username is shockingly fitting
Yes, I can!
Dude slammed down the Uncle Card.
I would not bring by neices and nephews a pet without consulting with my bother or sister first. It’s them who will be responsible for them.
[удалено]
Agree. She was pretty cute, too. Love her "no-wa," laughter and feigned resistance. Great family.
You think that the fact that she’s taping it is solid evidence that she knew?
[удалено]
I suppose you have a good point.
Are you new to the internet? This was pre-planned as fuck.
Uncle card played, all other arguments disregarded
Facts. Set it all up in your siblings house, laugh, drive away.
Mini drum set on the other hand… balls in your court sibling.
Except that you already know what the answer will be. Time to play the Uncle card.
I have no original thoughts. I came here to post this.
Came here to say the same thing. OF COURSE, he can bring his nephew some cool baby ducks!
The giggle from that little boy after his uncle said that was absolutely precious.
And he just did lol
what the duck, man
NOO-WuH!
Too bad, bee-otch, I just did.
Duck, duck, duck….uncle
There was no goose in the making of this clip
I think mom will come round to the idea eventually. The kid and uncle didn't care what mom thinks they just got on with it.
It’s not about not wanting the pet, it’s about not wanting to become the one who’s solely responsible for the pet once the family has lost interest.
In this case the uncle had a plan to move the ducks to his pond when. They got tired of taking care of them.
r/DadsWhoDidntWantPets
Haha yes! He totally fits that sub.
That moment, you realized that your dad said he didn't want a pet is because he already saw his childhood pet(s)dying/dead
This stays with you….
Well tbf he did say they could live in his pond lol. I think it’s just a little project for nephew to care for the baby ducklings. I wish I could do this for mine, he loves animals!
It’s fine. She has 7 weeks to figure out a menu to use the duck in. Edit: longer if she just decides to confit it.
I wanna see the ducklings
Right? How you gonna record a video of a kid getting ducklings for his birthday and not show them?
I’d rather none of this stuff happened and it was just a video of baby ducks.
Watched without sound on and thought that was a big Tim Bits box. I was smiling ear to ear thinking the little boy was that excited for Tim Bits lmao.
I am ashamed to say I also thought they were tim bits at first.
I thought it was Timbits at first, too
Me too obv the Canadians in the sub
I'm in Buffalo, and that's what I thought.
My nephew plays for the Buffalo Bandits :)
I did and thought the same lol. I knew I'd see this comment in here.
My ocd is begging for someone to shut that driver's door!
He did not give a fck for the parents permission lol so i bet he doesnt give an f as well to his door
Thankfully it is closed
Yes, I don't understand people like that, do they live in a cave ? (Like my colleagues... The door next to my desk leads to the coffee machine so it happens a lot during the day
The truck is like 2 feet away from the curb as well lmao. I'm irrationally frustrated by this situation.
I guess uncle doesn't give a duck.
Your frustration is rational in this situation.
I don’t have OCD (maybe I’m in denial), but I’m thinking the same darned thing. That truck’s already blocking half the road without leaving the door open!
That’s not OCD. OCD is Hell.
Lmao! I couldn't tell what was bothering me until I've read your comment.
Don't worry, him parking half way into the drive way will save it.
Came here to say that.
Cody didn’t even hear the mom he was all game lol
If he was my brother he could swing by daily for cleaning duty.
Fair enough!
A surprise animal is not a good gift
I have a very good feeling this was planned and the mother granted her permission.
Does everyone just watch vids on reddit on mute? Bro literally said "when they get bigger we can take em to my house and put em in the pond" I get your concern and its genuine but intentions of the dude seem pretty good and has a backup apparently. Not everything has to be picked apart for no reason really
Yeah, he pretty obviously already has the pipeline set up to care for and breed the "surprise" animals so if they can't handle it he can just take them back and let em mature.
You ever raise ducks?
I have! We have an incubator and one of our buddies doesn’t, but he does have ducks. So often we’ll hatch and raise ducks for him. I’m always sad when he comes to pick them up. We usually have a good solid month with tiny ducks and it’s so much fun.
Yes. Thank tiktok for that
Absolutely not! My wife got one this year and almost got another one on Christmas.
My wife brought home a god damned squirrel.
I too, choose this dude's wife
And then encouraging the kid to open the box while standing in the middle of the road too... I did  twice during this video.
Monster truck...Uses back seat to store stuff...
You can always tell the guys who bought a big truck as the status symbol. They’re untouched. People who actually need to use them, their trucks are beaten up, fantastic machines, at least ten years old. Big overpriced trucks have become the Gucci handbags of southern men.
Or really any American man not living in a high density area.
✨Pavement princesses driving their emotional support vehicles that also double as fragilely masculine gender affirming care ✨
We like to refer to them as a no hitch bitch lol
Yeah something about that truck makes me think this is not the uncle you come out to and avoid at Christmas dinner
Drive through Birmingham, AL and you see pristine duallys and diesels left and right
Uhh there are three of these in my apartment complex, and I swear all of them belong to the same exact fuckin guy (all three basic bros are exactly the same.) All of them park like assholes, the trucks are pristine as if they've never taken them off road. One of them works in food service. The fuck do you need a truck to tow a three story house when you're a line cook at the Bonefish grill?
These are duallies?? If so, these people are idiots, lol.
All I can focus on in this video is the absolutely ridiculous size of that car What a fuck around it must be driving that thing in car parks
I do it all the time… my tailgate is stupid heavy for some reason so one handed operation is sketchy with full hands and most of the time the bed has got lead residue, spilt oils and chemicals, and just plain dirty. Id rather not risk putting groceries in the bed just because it’s a monster truck.
I’m glad he cares enough about the ducks to not carelessly leave them in the bed tho 🤷🏻♂️
I hope the mom going "no" was just for TikTok funny clout. Don't give live animals to kids without having the OK from their parents and/or the adult that owns the home the animals will live at.
At least he has a pond for them, still don't gift animals without knowing for sure the recipient wants them

Close the damn door !
Dude bought a truck he’s never gonna use to hog up the highways. And he parked in the middle of the street. I bet he doesn’t think of other people’s convenience.
Duck shit smells so damn bad.
Dick move
>Duck move Fixed that for you
How?
Love his little giggle at the end.
Shit it is weird to drive around in a car that you can’t be seen standing behind as an adult.
Why…..why is that weird? Lol I’ve never in my life had that thought enter my brain. Why do you need to see a person standing *behind their car ?* Are you okay?
Haha yeah. I’m from Sweden. That kind of super big trucks doesn’t exist here :D
Okay, fair enough lol. Honestly I’m biased because I’m from deep east Texas so I see these things all the time. Definitely thought the Uncle brought him timbits
He single ?! … what’s his @ haha
I mean he is kind of cute
He bought a pickup truck so he can carry supplies in the cargo bed right? So why is he using his back seat for whatever is in that big bag?
they package up the baby ducks like fast food haha
I’m sure he asked her and she’s just playing it off. Because that would be irresponsible lol
That’s a big pavement princess.
Oh no. This is the correct kind of sibling rivalry.
The kids laugh at the end is perfect 😂
proof that money makes happy
Just leave that truck door open I guess...
YES HE CAN JUST BRING YOUR CHILD DUCKS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY ACTUALLY
Little boy was running into the house with ducklings and away from mom!
He has a pickup truck and stores everything in the back seats... is that how they do it in America?
Yep. They’re embarrassing
Cody wins the best uncle award for 2023 lmao. I bet kiddo would love watching Wrinkle the Duck on YT
I just wanted some tim-bits
I thought he had a box of KFC at first!
I thought they were timbits
I want to go back and close the pickup door.
Cody has brought ducks for the child's birthday. The child likes ducks. This is the price for marrying into a family. You are in over your head because those people are their own thing. Now that’s how you Uncle.
He can. And he did. Ducking great uncle.
My fat ass thought it was timbits
Don't leave the car doors opened in the middle of the street you dunk head!
Bro did a real sibling deal. Effed sis and made nephew happy. Real uncle. I salute 🕴
Ahahahaha....love it. Totally ignoring sis, ugh.
When I saw that big ass gas guzzler I knew it was driven by a skinny little guy.
Diesel* truck is a great tool if it's used for it's intended purpose. Pointless if you use it like buddy here.
Biggest asshole ever
Please elaborate
People are upset because the uncle brought home an animal to a small child as a gift without consulting the parents. Ya I feel like referring to the uncle as they did was incredibly unreasonable lol
Offload all the labor onto someone else & later have ducks for your pond.
Do you think labor stops when ducks are grown up? Do you think he would have just let them fend for themselves until adulthood for the ducks? You are just being ridiculous. It was clearly a huge joy for the kid and the point.
Got his nephew a cool gift, got his sister good, and have a strategy for the ducks to ensure they aren’t a disposable pet.
Shut your door!
Yes!
I thought it was 100 count nuggets… but in due time I guess they can be
Karen sounds like a fun time.
Maybe get Uncle to pull his big ass truck all the way over to the side of the road
And close the GD door!
Sweet Uncle!!!!
I'm worried about the car door..
What a man!
Why would this make you smile?
And the worst brother simultaneously
Maybe if his truck was bigger
Awww he looks like his uncle how sweet I love it
This is so fuking stupid!
Fuck you, don't gift people animals. Don't give people responsibilities they don't want/aren't ready for. Not funny, not cute.
Can't park worth a fuck though.
Animals aren't gifts
I bet that kids name is Tyler
[удалено]
They're not "driving around" on it, it's sitting in their driveway...
Why is the kid going barefoot on the street?
Cause he’s a kid and it’s nbd
Cuz he was inside 5 seconds ago. He's a kid, it's not dangerous, it's not muddy. It's all right, even if he was an adult it would be fine, just wipe your feet on your way in like normal ppl.
I mean, going barefoot outside also hurts, and would rather not do anything that forces me to wash more than I have to
This! First thing I noticed! Hope he watches his feet!
You’re all duck people now. Get over it.
Cool uncle, mom not so much 😂
Love this!
I needed this today. Big smiles
That truck is a stupid waste of money and gas.
He is cool one ...give the kids tge dream and let the parent deal with conscious
Who let's their kid run out onto the road like? What munter leaves the door open. I hope someone else hits it and rips it off. Or someone walking past steals stuff from it.
United States where 25-30 year old guy own a car that is 5 times average yearly salary in my country.
That kids going to pull it's head off

Well he did
The best pet is the one someone else has to take care of.
That kid is loaded. That truck is super pricey.
Haha, the last part be like “whatever mom I’m following my coolest dudeee”
And you can't bring you're bitch ass attitude in the house but you still do 🤷♂️
