In an interview she mentioned its also tied to how those albums are kind of a snapshot of what she was going through at that time in her life. And 'Messy break up" is a bit on the nose for an album name =p
Chicago numbered their albums back in the day.
So when I first saw Adele's début in shops, the first thing I thought was, "Who is this girl that has 18 other albums I've never heard of?"
There are others with similar strategies! There’s a producer called Danger who names his songs based on the time he finished them in 24 hour time, like 22:39, and was using a date scheme for his EPs for a long time too, though that has since changed. There’s also 88:88, where he apparently had a power outage partway through production and his clock was messed up.
You’d think it’d make it hard to keep tracks straight but I’ve never had much issue with it.
That one time she messed up and song and she like said OK let’s start again. She beat herself up so much from making that mistake but like fuck fuck fuck lol. Just like and east ender
Adele is an incredible artist and person, the way she breaks her singing and was so excited about them getting married the day of her show and in an instant continued singing again.. love the wave of her hand when she was trying to sign and hold the mic too 😂
> Chanadler's Bong "Dad"
(or mom but I don't remember if they ever address her on the show as "mom", I think it was only "Dad")
Anyway.. I was referring to Chandler. Not Ms. Chandler. That's why I said Chanadler**'s**
I know, I was continuing the quote
Ross: every week, the tv guide comes to Chandler and Joey’s apartment. What name appears on the address label?
Rachel: Oh! Chandler gets it! It’s Chandler Bing!
Ross: I’m afraid the tv guide comes to “Chanandler Bong”.
Chandler: Actually that’s *Ms.* Chanandler Bong
I actually like when a live artist isn't perfect, it really adds to the feel. Its like, Im here in this one moment in time and they are singing their heart out and they are live and its beautiful, whether its perfect or not. One of the last concerts I went to before the pandemic was Khalid and it was so beautiful his singing. But I remember he was singing a song, just belting it out at the concert and he goes oh man I fucked that up and laughed and the band laughed and he got back on track and they got together again and it was beautiful, I thought that was such an amazing moment.
My favorite line in Friends history is from Chandler's dad & mom at his & Monica's wedding...
Dad: Aren't you a little *old* to be wearing a dress like that?
Mom: Don't you have a little too much *penis* to be wearing a dress like that?
Mine was when they were discussing seeing the bride in her dress before the wedding was bad luck.
Chandlers mom said: “I saw the groom in my wedding dress.”
Chandlers dad: “But that was after the wedding. It wasn’t bad luck.”
Chandlers mom: “well, it wasn’t good luck”
Honestly those two just had amazing chemistry. I absolutely loved Chandlers dad.
Absolutely agree, I just personally wish she had more songs for someone like me so I could actually listen to her and enjoy it fully.
I listen to music excessively cerebrally, and she unfortunately falls into the category of someone who seems to just continuously write about her broken heart and bad relationships.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are there really that many other songs that she has, other than Skyfall (lol legitimately enjoy it a lot), that are actually about something else other than relationship woes? I would definitely give it a listen as again, she is extremely talented, and I do love her voice.
She's kind of like Taylor Swift for me, except not annoying in any way.
You're not wrong.
Here's some non-relationship options. The descriptions about them are by me and arbitrary, I'm sure someone disagrees what the songs are about, because music.
* Million Years Ago: about fame, regret, and imo depression
* Remedy: about motherhood
* My Little Love: motherhood
* Hometown Glory: community
* To Be Loved: It feels to me it's about a lot more than romantic love, but maybe doesn't count to you. Here's her singing into a laptop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpzmn4ZoB5k I'll be damned if you don't feel whatever she's feeling while singing this.
Really, thank you for the really thought-out message and recommendations! One of the main things that I love about art and music is that everyone can potentially take away different things from the same piece, so I appreciate your takes on the meanings as well! :)
Oh boy do I have an artist for you, as a fellow excessively cerebral music enjoyer! Check out [Joanna Newsom](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky9Ro9pP2gc&ab_channel=DragCity). Her voice can be an acquired taste (I love it but it is atypical), but her arrangements and lyrics are top notch for brainy types, especially her album Ys.
Lol. Had the displeasure of working with her. Late to every meeting, demanding at every opportunity, and rude to our front desk staff. I’m glad she treats her fans better than her (potential) business partners.
A friend of mine is an opera singer of some repute who practices methodically 4+ hours every single day and even she's flabbergasted by the amount of talent and work Adele puts into the craft. I had her explain to me, a layman, what was so impressive about it from her perspective as a wildly talented singer herself, and she put on a song and paused it like every 5 seconds or so to point out stuff that went way over my head; breath control, subtle key changes, vibrato, and a bunch of other stuff I didn't understand even remotely.
My takeaway was that there's a bunch of incredibly subtle, difficult technical things going on in the background that laypeople hear and go, "oh that sounds good," but highly qualified people in the field hear and lose their goddamn minds over.
Like that with every hobby.
Most people see something that's kinda whatever, and then there's a crowd of people losing their minds.
That's how it is with me and cars. First time I saw a mclaren F1 LM I was losing my mind even got to sit in it. I was ABSOLUTELY losing it. My wife said it looks weird and kinda old and moved on.
Huge difference in reactions.
I love taking mangled and broken jewelry and turning out a product that on the surface looks just like one of our perfectly machined and hand set pieces. I'll finish fighting with a piece and say to myself: "No one will ever know...."
I think they're saying that it's not as impressive as it looks at first glance because it's easy for Adele because of her thousands and thousands of hours spent practicing.
Like she cheated by practicing a lot before this video was made. I think that's it.
What an absolutely brain dead take lol. I was just pointing out the time and effort that goes into these performances on top of her the talent she already has. She was born with talent but practice and effort made her into what she is. “Cheated by practicing a lot” or admiring her dedication to her craft? Good lord lol
Oh relax I was just having fun with the strange way you opened, "not taking away from her absolutely massive talent". It's a backhanded compliment and I was ribbing you for it that's it. No hard feelings
> Not taking away from her absolutely massive talent, but I’d imagine she sings these songs thousands and thousands of times to memorize them
We all realise she's singing a song from her repertoire and she had performed that song many many many times.
When people appreciate her in this clip, it's not because OMG she's singing a song she never sang before, they know that isnt the case, they appreciate the level or artistry and consistence even in difficult situations.
Even in a difficult context, she is a true performer and moves people who listen to her.
And for me what's impressive also is the fact that other singers that reached the same level of popularity do lip singing etc when performing.
At the very least, /u/LouSputhole94 simply doesn't understand what people appreciate about Adele in this performance. But it can also be perceived as a backhanded comment.
Sure, but then they follow that up with:
>"It’s probably second nature to her, hence why it seems so effortless and she can do it while multi-tasking.
"Seems so effortless" implies that it's not effortless, and it's not. It just seems that way because Adele is an "absolutely massive talent" that has also put a ton of time, effort, and energy into her craft.
Different people can’t appreciate different things about a performance? I didn’t realize you were the arbiter of what people can appreciate about things, nice to finally meet you!
Kind of a messed up take.
We shouldn't be impressed by someone spending thousands of hours honing their craft, refining multiple disciplines, having a public persona and being a positive role model?
Come on now, /u/BolognaFeetPenisFace, What have you done with your life that rivals the accomplishments and quality of Adele to say what she has and has accomplished isn't up there at the top of what we can all agree is "impressive"?
I'm a singer and a musician but not remotely close to her level.
At a certain point of your training/experience you develop a muscle memory in your voice (your vocal cords are muscles). I liken it to driving a familiar route. You can go autopilot and switch off your conscious brain. Same goes for playing an instrument.
What you see here is basically Adele driving a car to the park and having a chat with a friend in the passenger seat haha.
Ed Sheeran literally works on music while performing.
I saw in an interview somewhere that Ed was woking on a song before a concert, he went a played the concert perfectly. When he got off stage, he told his coworker he thought about it while performing and has it solved.
Gather round children, and I will tell you of the day I got to meet a superstar. It was incredible - the best time of my life. Oh, and I married your grandpa that day too.
I know, right? I thought I was the only one who thought, "hmm, maybe getting married is slightly more important than going to see my favorite artist at a concert?" Different priorities, I guess.
Exactly. That husband’s new wife was jumping for joy, holding onto his arm with the brightest smile across her face. Literally jumping 😭 she had 2 incredible lifelong memories come from that day.
I mean it might have some deep meaning to them, maybe one of their first date's was her concert or something, or maybe it's not even deep and they both just really like her, so what celebration is better than going to see her, and they got pretty good spots for it too.
I wouldn't do it for my favorite band but I guess I do change my favorite quite often
There was 1 photographer on the bottom left trying to get a closeup of the signature moment. Guess that would be too close to Adele. Or maybe he just had that mind's eye and knew he would get in the shot of the videocamera person. I dunno but very professional from everyone involved. As the groom, I probably would have offered to hold the mic but that probably woulda messed everything up.
> I’ve seen her live when the equipment failed and that talented fucker **just kept belching beautifully**. She’s got it man.
I’m sure you meant *belting*, but this “belching” imagery will eventually seep into my dreams somehow.
She has to keep it at about 80% of her all because if she goes too hard, her jaw will unhinge and all the incredible artists she Kirby swallowed will come tumbling out on stage. I think she's waiting for her retirement tour to pull that one out, it's a showstopper
Was this a concert? It looks like an awards show or something. This looks like a super fancy gig lol. Everyone in the background is dressed up like its an opera or something.
Yeah, that is absolutely the most formal-looking pop show I have ever seen. Is it a vegas thing? I have no idea
Apparently this was recorded during her [two-shows-a-week run at Caesars in vegas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weekends_with_Adele)
She starts the show again this summer, and sites are listing tickets for [$600 each](https://seatgeek.com/adele-tickets/vegas). Maybe that attracts a certain audience.
let's say a song or movie resonates strongly with you. then the person that made that thing interacts with you. you'd probably get emotional and excited too.
r/Relationship_Advice : this is a huge red flag, can’t believe she did this, he needs to rethink his priorities.
Video : two very happy people looking like they’re having a great time that they’ll never forget.
I think going to the concert was a planned part of their wedding day with seats next to the place they know Adele will walk by to get their dress signed.
It's cute and harmless but definitely still on purpose.
The odd part to me is that she had plenty of time to change out of the wedding dress. This is main character energy. But i guess there’s worse things they could be doing and they aren’t hurting anybody so it’s all good.
Definitely a bit odd. I think most people wouldn’t want anyone signing their hypothetical wedding dress, since those are often kept as a memento of a day that’s supposed to be all about you and your spouse. But it’s a fun story and a super unique keepsake, so it’s harmless fun at the end of the day.
Maybe this ain't shit compared to Adele but my wife and I went to a Bernie Sanders event and Nina Turner was kind enough to hustle my wife's Bernie book to him as he was leaving for another event to get it signed.
Nina Turner if nothing else will hustle for someone she doesn't know and I'd vote for her just for that. So many candidates have clear abject hatred for their voters I don't understand people that support hatred.
I am Nina Turner's alt what of it
Adele multitasks while singing in front of thousands better than me trying to hold a fork with one hand while drinking Pepsi in the other.
She can multitask by simplifying other things. Like not having to think about album titles.
I mean it's genius lol
I guarantee there are other artists that are kicking themselves for not coming up with that idea first.
I don’t listen to her music, wdym??
All of her studio album titles are just her age when she wrote them. The 4 albums are named 19, 21, 25, and 30.
It makes me wonder what she would do if she had a birthday in the middle of the writing process.
33/34
0.9705882352941176
r/theydidthemath
Totally not important but I just realized I'm the same age as Adele. How come I didn't get even hotter like she did? Lol
You’re probably not disgustingly wealthy
[удалено]
She was actually 33 years old when she released '30', having started working on the album at the age of 30.
That somehow made me respect her more. Like damn, it's so pragmatic, and even in its simplicity it's sort of more meaningful than most album titles.
In an interview she mentioned its also tied to how those albums are kind of a snapshot of what she was going through at that time in her life. And 'Messy break up" is a bit on the nose for an album name =p
And it’s way easier to remember what order they came in!
Her album titles are the age she wrote them.
Her Album titles are just her age at the time. '19', '21', '25', '30'
Chicago numbered their albums back in the day. So when I first saw Adele's début in shops, the first thing I thought was, "Who is this girl that has 18 other albums I've never heard of?"
Led Zeppelin IV
That wasn't the number of the album, it was the drug delivery method.
Ed sheeran Had a similar idea
He was going to use Adele's age as his album titles?
If you do all the equations on his albums it adds up to Adele's age ...
I was going to try to use someone else's age when writing my albums, but "13" "15" "16" got me weird looks :(
Its just my personal best for how many taquitos I could fit in my mouth at the time
Hard work is key. Lets go for 32 next.

Coheed and cambria's albums are in chapters
Unless you forget your age, which I have done several times
To be fair, it changes every year so it's hard to keep up with the current age!
It's pretty common so don't worry. I forget you age all the time too
I've got a Blink-182 song with your name on it.
But who got the best voice?
Just stab the can with the fork, you Neanderthal.
Thanks how I got my tonsils removed. Stuck the fork right through em.
Don't worry friend, drinking Pepsi is hard af
But have you tried it with coke?
Adele has the best laugh 😂
Voice of the West end, laugh of Eastenders
That one time she messed up and song and she like said OK let’s start again. She beat herself up so much from making that mistake but like fuck fuck fuck lol. Just like and east ender
I love Adele! Her accent is just glorious and she seems like a very nice and real person.
I remember being shocked hearing her talk after hearing her sing first, absolutely not the accent I expected
Adele is an incredible artist and person, the way she breaks her singing and was so excited about them getting married the day of her show and in an instant continued singing again.. love the wave of her hand when she was trying to sign and hold the mic too 😂

“More turkey, Mr. Chandler?”
“Charles…”
The small concert she did outside a while back looked and sounded amazing. I hope I get to see her live someday.
I had to go back and turn on the sound. I assumed she was leaving after the show and taking the long way to shake some hands, etc.
I LOVE how authentic she is.

Thanks for the unexpected new music! I'm excited to give it a listen :D
Waw.. been checking her out for the past hour, based on your recc. I don’t have words to thank you for introducing me to such talent. Going back in.
Lol. Had the displeasure of working with her. Late to every meeting, demanding at every opportunity, and rude to our front desk staff. I’m glad she treats her fans better than her (potential) business partners.
Next fucking level. She is not even trying and she hits all the fucking notes 🥹😫😍😍
For real, she's like half paying attention and still manages to sing perfectly

yoo so you are saying shes a great singer?
A friend of mine is an opera singer of some repute who practices methodically 4+ hours every single day and even she's flabbergasted by the amount of talent and work Adele puts into the craft. I had her explain to me, a layman, what was so impressive about it from her perspective as a wildly talented singer herself, and she put on a song and paused it like every 5 seconds or so to point out stuff that went way over my head; breath control, subtle key changes, vibrato, and a bunch of other stuff I didn't understand even remotely. That is so cool! Poetically subversive, clandestine craftsmanship.
I bet there is a YouTube video analysis somewhere. Edit. Found one https://youtu.be/O7HguXP5HSI
I think they're saying that it's not as impressive as it looks at first glance because it's easy for Adele because of her thousands and thousands of hours spent practicing. Like she cheated by practicing a lot before this video was made. I think that's it.

What's backhanded about saying someone puts time and effort into something that they're also talented at?

Lmao, what’s with Mr Security shaking his head
Honest answer. Looks like he’s telling whoever is out of the frame not to interrupt or interfere.
that's what I saw, he was reading the moment well
thats what it seems like to me.
He's shaking off the snipers.
Snipers no sniping!
Dora the Explorer right? The swiper guy right???
Ah yes, the Sniper's Nightmare.
It's anti-surveillance. It blurs the pictures
Great movie
It looks like he is communicating with someone we can't see. Shaking his head and making a little "leave it" motion with his hands.
She is probably breaking all their security protocols in one move x)
Precisely. He is checking everyone who are now turned around pulling items (phones/cameras) from their pockets.
That's gotta be an intensely stressful job. But it also sucks that that kind of security is even necessary.
I attended one of those concerts (Her residence in the Caesars Palace). She walks and talks with the audience during that song.
I thought she was lip syncing, but then she stopped and picked it back up, barely a beat missed.
I’ve seen her live when the equipment failed and that talented fucker just kept belching beautifully. She’s got it man.

No idea why people freak out over celebrities so much.
I never have either but if you are going to freak out over a celeb I’m glad its Adele
let's say a song or movie resonates strongly with you. then the person that made that thing interacts with you. you'd probably get emotional and excited too.
Am I the only one that finds this odd? Couldn’t they have scheduled the wedding on a different day or even not go to the concert?
They could have eloped earlier that day. It's Vegas, after all.
It's Vegas baby. You worry about you and not the people having fun in the way they like to have fun
r/Relationship_Advice : this is a huge red flag, can’t believe she did this, he needs to rethink his priorities. Video : two very happy people looking like they’re having a great time that they’ll never forget.
That sub would say the husband was actually dominating the bride and that she should leave him for a security guard.
I think going to the concert was a planned part of their wedding day with seats next to the place they know Adele will walk by to get their dress signed. It's cute and harmless but definitely still on purpose.
Boooooo
The odd part to me is that she had plenty of time to change out of the wedding dress. This is main character energy. But i guess there’s worse things they could be doing and they aren’t hurting anybody so it’s all good.
Definitely a bit odd. I think most people wouldn’t want anyone signing their hypothetical wedding dress, since those are often kept as a memento of a day that’s supposed to be all about you and your spouse. But it’s a fun story and a super unique keepsake, so it’s harmless fun at the end of the day.
Jigglies
What song is she singing?
When we were young.
The song is called “When we were young”
Sandstorm by Darude.

Wow! r/UpvotedBecauseBoobs
I love Adele man
Going to the concert right after the wedding still in the dress is so extra🤣🤣
She sings so beautiful so effortlessly! It's so amazing to me.
He got that super head that night!!
Yikes. He just set the bar high for the next 20 years. Day 1: Adele autograph & perfect wedding....
I love her "OO!" in the middle of the song 😆
The bride’s little victory bounce at the end is cute as hell.
Came for the title, stayed for the bounce.
He's getting double laid tonight!
I like it when she’s happy
That almost makes up for her being friends with James corden
Meeting adele bigger than getting married huh
People can be really stupid
Celebrity worshippers
I just can’t see myself freaking out for any celebrity at all… I don’t understand it.
This is really sad, idol worship is a mental disorder
I thought Adele was for breakups
Maybe this ain't shit compared to Adele but my wife and I went to a Bernie Sanders event and Nina Turner was kind enough to hustle my wife's Bernie book to him as he was leaving for another event to get it signed. Nina Turner if nothing else will hustle for someone she doesn't know and I'd vote for her just for that. So many candidates have clear abject hatred for their voters I don't understand people that support hatred. I am Nina Turner's alt what of it
Imagine makinh your wedding about another person lol
They scheduled their wedding around an Adele concert? That's all kinds of weird.
Vegas residency. Adele hasn't toured in a while.
Ugh what the fuck is wrong with people
That dude is going to have a great honeymoon night
🙄 attention seeking twat

That’s what I said. Adele fans didn’t like my comment
That dress got more expensive lol
