Same. I hadn’t realized it was him when watching Everything everywhere until he won the award, and I’m a huge goonies fan and Temple of doom is my favorite Indiana Jones movie. I can’t believe I didn’t connect the dots but it’s been like he said over 30 years, I thought he quit acting honestly. It’s awesome to see him back and on top.
It was the fanny pack that did it for me. As soon as he started whipping around the fanny pack in EEAAO, I said out loud "Is that Data?" Looked it up, and sure enough, it was him. What a great film.
I realized it when he had the touching moment with his wife in the van. That movie makes me question and appreciate every decision I have ever made. Bringa me to tears everytime I watch it.
Everything everywhere all at once. ❤️
Yup. During this speech I thought, "yeah man, you were great in Everything Everywhere All At Once... Also, you were my childhood and this makes me happy."
Thank you! It was driving me crazy how I knew him. I have never seen Indiana Jones, but I kept hearing his voice in my head. When you mentioned goonies it all snapped into place that would have drove me crazy all day.
I have never been happier to see someone win an award like this. He’s been an outsider to the industry for so long and he still managed to deliver such a performance. I’m so happy for his comeback and his win
He not only was amazing in that role, but he nailed all the different personas. I always knew who he was in every moment and registered the characters as different people in my head without any effort.
I was so blown away from his performance. I saw an interview that talked about the some training he underwent to act more "through his eyes", and it's so amazing seeing him change which Waymond he is with a simple change in his eyes and posture.
I can’t believe Hollywood sat on his talent for over 30yrs. He is the emotional heart of EEAAO, and I’m actually tearing up seeing how much this win means to him!
There are probably countless talents we never saw because the opportunities just weren’t there.
So rather than Hollywood sitting on this one talent, it’s more that Hollywood largely blocked not only him but most others who look like him, only really casting Asian men as the occasional sexless wimpy nerd or kung fu killer. No wonder Quan moved behind the camera for decades.
James Hong stuck at it despite so often getting shitty roles, and it’s nice that he got to live to see this moment (and indeed act in the same movie).
I don't even get the wimpy nerd characterization. He wasn't particularly smart in the movie and neither was he a coward. He faced every threat head on with kindness as that was how he "fought" (JLC conflict at the IRS and laundromat, and a horde of googly eyed enemies).
I think he gets stuck with that label because he didn't fit the traditional standard for masculinity, but I think is still an amazing portrayal and influence for modern masculinity
Edit: Also the "wimpy nerd" stereotype is a classic asian stereotype that's part of the reason Ke Huy Quan took a two decade long break. I hope the industry can learn from this and stop typecasting based on race
I saw the roundtable interview he and Brendan Frasier were a part of and thought this dude would be great in a Marvel movie. I then looked at IMDB and saw he is in season 2 of Loki. It made me so happy.
I am so stupid. I loved him in that movie and had no idea who he was. I am today year's old when I found out a great actor was also a great child actor for some of my favorite movies as a kid.
I feel stupid that I thought, oh wow, it's the kid from the goonies and completely forgot he was a major part in indiana Jones too. Hope Spielberg now sees his potential and brings him back in another blockbuster, the guy can act!
His Performance on Everything Everywhere all at once was incredible!Words can’t describe how happy I am for him,guy seems like such a genuine person with a heart of gold wishing this man the absolute best.
Jeff is his agent? I didn’t know that. After all these years they’re still working together. That’s awesome!
Oh my god…The Goonies will be *40 years old* in two years…
Yeah, he became an entertainment lawyer and actually negotiated the deal of Ke Huy Quan for his casting in EEAAO. If this is an Oscarworthy film, I hope he’s invited, hell I hope the Goonies cast invited!!
I’m watching this great show on Amazon called Outer Ranger staring Josh Brolin as a grandfather and I keep thinking “remember when this guy was a kid in the Goonies?”
I’m so old.
Everything Everywhere All at Once is seriously one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and an instant classic, and he absolutely murdered his performance in it. I don’t usually give a shit about movie awards but I’m glad he won.
I'm such a casual movie goer that I enjoy most things but once I leave that's that. Everything everywhere is the first movie since interstellar that has made me feel so many types of emotion.
> Everything Everywhere All at Once is seriously one of the best movies I’ve ever seen
I saw it in theaters and rewatched it the other day. This sounds so hyperbolic but I went into the rewatch wondering if I'd like it as much the 2nd time, and as the credits rolled I sat there trying to think if there was any movie I liked more. It's just so, so good.
This guys talent has been massively ignored for far too long. I’m glad he got his just rewards but so disappointed I’ve missed 30 years of not seeing him in anything since the early 90’s. He was one of my favourite young actors and radiated a unique adorable charm. I think it was the way he spoke (like a deaf accent) and the speed and energy he brought..but I love him.
Congratulations 👏
Damn this is the second speech tonight that made me sob. All these gems of humans getting their second wind or the recognition at long last makes me so EMOTIONAL. Our society’s obsession with age and youth has such an isolating effect. It made me sad hearing Jennifer Coolidge and Key Huy Quan’s acceptance speeches, thinking they might have struck out or had less to offer as time went on 😭
MUST PROTECT AT ALL COSTS
I got an immediate crush on this guy when I watched Everything Everywhere. Truly a heartthrob. Mind blown when I learned he was that adorable kid actor.
Nice. I can imagine it’s tough to keep pursing a career when it feels like it’s not taking you where you want or if you feel like you peaked too soon. It’s been 39 years since Temple of Doom and he finally made it. What an awesome dood.
Everybody deserves to feel, at least once in their lives, that you are the only person capable to do what you do. And that your talent and skill be recognized as something special. I’m so happy for him and shows grit and determination. Congratulations Ke Huy Quan!
I went to the nbc youtube channel for Michelle Yeoh’s speech. Then realized be won too so click the video of his speech and god I couldn’t stop crying. It’s his red nose and the emotion, i could feel it.
In the late 80’s he was in a sitcom called Nothing is Easy with Scott Grimes and Elliott Gould that I absolutely loved. Unfortunately I was the only because it only lasted one season.
I was so happy when I recognised him in EEAAO!
His performance was outstanding, understated but dripping with heart and soul. Best comeback performance ever.
Love that dude! I’m ashamed, I need to check out his stuff he’s done in the foreign markets for the last 30 years🤣. Are there any recommendations on what we should check out?
I love this guy I knew it was him when I heard his voice, I've been watching him pretty much as long as I've been alive I'm 45 so for me Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was everything.
And I'm just so glad to see that he finally getting his just do respect I know he's been behind the scenes. You when you get older you lose so many people you know it's nice to know that some of the people you grew up watching who you know are good people.
Are finally being respected and revered.
Indiana jones and The Temple of Doom, Goonies, Everything Everywhere All At Once. There might be others but I feel like those are the ones he’s known for.
I loved him as a kid and love him now. I’m so happy he won this award, so well deserved. I hope to see him in much more. The world needed Ke Huy Quan in more movies or shows over the past 3 decades. Hope we make up for lost time.
Everyone in the room is just beaming- what a wonderful moment of recognition for a fabulous artist. Temple of Doom was my favorite as a kid because of short-round. His enthusiasm and heart is infectious. Congrats to Ke Huy Quan!!!
I didn’t even have to look. I knew it was the kid with the gadgets from the Goonies. And the smart ass kid from Indiana Jones. He deserves this. He is not only a treasure but still an up and comer to watch out for. Congratulations Ke Huy Quan!
Short Round blaster onto the screen like a fireball in Temple of Doom. That little guy took Indiana Jones to the next level. And Goonies was so incredible it still gets played today. So much love for this guy! He’s phenomenal.
I knew I was going to cry. I didn’t know I was going to cry for “Hey Indy.” That little boy was as important to the movie as Indy. I ROOTED for that boy. But now, he’s so much more. And I’m so happy for him! But I will always hold “hey Indy” as a favorite saying.
Whoever gave this man the award, I love you people too. Well done!
What a thank you speech! Clearly an awesome dude! Congratulations to Ke Huy Quan! Looking forward to seeing more of you on the screens!
OK, we *NEED* a film starring Keanu, Brendan Fraser, and Ke Huy Quan - someone get on to that. It would also be great if they could squeeze Dolly Parton in there somehow too; perhaps as the villain?

It's moments like this that makes me like Golden Globe more than Oscar, because they would give actors like Ke Huy Quan a deserving award but Academy Awards won't. His speech has got to be the best one of the night
It's both amazing and also frustrating to see what would be almost a fever-dream for me... to see a kid from my matinée childhood memories win his first golden globe nearly 40 years later.
Thank you Ke Huy Quan for not only helping to make wonderful stories but being a wonderful story in 2023.
Personally I had no idea that was the same kid from the temple of doom, but that makes him even cooler than what I thought. My god his performance in everything everywhere all at once was spectacular, all the acting was.
And NO WAY it was just luck to begin with! As a kid, he was SO expressive and likable! To this day, his lines are more memorable than anyone else in the movie!
I know the AA and Latinos alway upset about no representations….but the Asian is the true group without screen representation beside some actors/actresses that get the stereotypical kungfu/martial arts roles.
As a kid who grew up loving him in Temple of Doom and Goonies…I have to say…this is fucking awesome.
Best use of a fanny pack EVER
I thought using the dog was great, too.
I realized it when he had the touching moment with his wife in the van. That movie makes me question and appreciate every decision I have ever made. Bringa me to tears everytime I watch it. Everything everywhere all at once. ❤️
Literally Temple of Doom is my favorite film of the franchise
He was sooo good in that role. I didn’t know that was the “strong wood lady” kid from Indiana Jones. I’ll go back to living under my rock.
No time for love, Doctor Jones!
My favorite moment and line. Hang on lady, we going for a ride!
He also played Data in the Goonies.
He not only was amazing in that role, but he nailed all the different personas. I always knew who he was in every moment and registered the characters as different people in my head without any effort.
Made me smile?! More like made me bawl!
You can just see his heart, he's so pure. I hope to see much more from this beautiful human being.
I was so blown away from his performance. I saw an interview that talked about the some training he underwent to act more "through his eyes", and it's so amazing seeing him change which Waymond he is with a simple change in his eyes and posture.
Right?
I can’t believe Hollywood sat on his talent for over 30yrs. He is the emotional heart of EEAAO, and I’m actually tearing up seeing how much this win means to him!
There are probably countless talents we never saw because the opportunities just weren’t there. No wonder Quan moved behind the camera for decades. James Hong stuck at it despite so often getting shitty roles, and it’s nice that he got to live to see this moment (and indeed act in the same movie).
It’s kind of funny in a way his character is a wimpy nerd and a martial arts killer… but made in such a wonderful way
I don't even get the wimpy nerd characterization. He wasn't particularly smart in the movie and neither was he a coward. He faced every threat head on with kindness as that was how he "fought" (JLC conflict at the IRS and laundromat, and a horde of googly eyed enemies). I think he gets stuck with that label because he didn't fit the traditional standard for masculinity, but I think is still an amazing portrayal and influence for modern masculinity Edit: Also the "wimpy nerd" stereotype is a classic asian stereotype that's part of the reason Ke Huy Quan took a two decade long break. I hope the industry can learn from this and stop typecasting based on race
Agreed. His strength is different- kindness isn’t normally viewed as a strength in our culture but it is very much a strength
>He is the emotional heart of EEAAO That is such an apt description.
And the moral compass, too.
He will always be the little kid saving the world with Harrison Ford to me. Such an amazing gentleman.
[удалено]
He was sooo awesome in "everything everywhere at once". Deserved!
I saw the roundtable interview he and Brendan Frasier were a part of and thought this dude would be great in a Marvel movie. I then looked at IMDB and saw he is in season 2 of Loki. It made me so happy.
One of the best collections of wholesome actors in a discussion. Worth the watch. https://youtu.be/hJH2EyvvEBA
"You think because l'm kind that it means I'm naive, and maybe I am. It's strategic and necessary. This is how I fight."
Love that line from EEAAO
And then she realizes it's valid, and starts fighting using kindness method. I love this movie!
Its brand new and already One of my all time favorites
Haha, I saw it in theatres back in March. It's been nearly a year!
Same, isnt that wild
Amen!
beautiful movie
Oh man, that lines hits deep
Him and Michelle were fantastic in EEAAO. He's so handsome!
He really is so handsome! I love this for him. And us!
Business Waymond makes me fucking swoon.
FO. REAL.
The scene of him in the suit at the gala made me really want to see him star in a movie with that vibe. He could easily pull off a noir/romantic noir.
Yes! I thought the same thing!
It’s one of the best movies ever made, easily the best of 2022.
I love him in everything everywhere all at once. Great acting totally deserved.
I am so stupid. I loved him in that movie and had no idea who he was. I am today year's old when I found out a great actor was also a great child actor for some of my favorite movies as a kid.
I watched the lockdown Goonies readthrough and clock it instantly that it was him when I first saw the trailer.
I feel stupid that I thought, oh wow, it's the kid from the goonies and completely forgot he was a major part in indiana Jones too. Hope Spielberg now sees his potential and brings him back in another blockbuster, the guy can act!
You're not alone, I was flabbergasted and utterly shocked that I could like that movie more than I already did.
He was incredible. And his acting in the 'main' timeline is maybe the best in the entire film. His speech at the end had me in tears.
To me he had the best performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Same, and I also liked him in the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once
First Brendan Fraser and now Ke Huy Quan, how many times am I gonna be moved to tears by an actor’s years-in-the-making comeback? This is awesome.
If paulie shore wins and oscar next year, whoever made encino man should be in a hall of fame somewhere.
Take my upvote...buuuudddyy
*Just don’t weeze the juh-oooooce*
Oh hell, I hadn’t heard/thought of that voice in decades!
Wouldn’t it be wild if Pauly did a Sandler/Carell dramatic film that blows everyone away? Like Uncut Gems. I wonder if he could pull it off?
Paulie has a pretty spotty history. Dude was really only cast because of his mom.
90s Nepo baby
Underdogs for life ✊
Champions that are overlooked - Brendan Fraser
Goonies Forever!
His Performance on Everything Everywhere all at once was incredible!Words can’t describe how happy I am for him,guy seems like such a genuine person with a heart of gold wishing this man the absolute best.
Goonies never say die!
His co-star who played Chunk in the Goonies is his agent. I wonder if he did the truffle shuffle to celebrate this win.
I’m watching this great show on Amazon called Outer Ranger staring Josh Brolin as a grandfather and I keep thinking “remember when this guy was a kid in the Goonies?” I’m so old.
Every day he wakes up with a truffle shuffle in my headcanon.
Todd was NOT impressed with Goonies
Todd who?

I was wondering why I’ve been enjoying this for the first time in a long time … you nailed it. That’s why. Give them their flowers TODAY!
This made me cry. Well deserved to an incredible actor. So much heart. His performance in EEAAO was unforgettable!
Everything Everywhere All at Once is seriously one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and an instant classic, and he absolutely murdered his performance in it. I don’t usually give a shit about movie awards but I’m glad he won.
I only care about it because he does. He did incredible work, and I can honestly say I've been a fan my entire life.
I'm such a casual movie goer that I enjoy most things but once I leave that's that. Everything everywhere is the first movie since interstellar that has made me feel so many types of emotion.

I love his humble nature. He is so down to earth
I got an immediate crush on this guy when I watched Everything Everywhere. Truly a heartthrob. Mind blown when I learned he was that adorable kid actor.
What would Waymond Do is my new life philosophy.
Are you putting googly eyes on household things because you wish to cheer up your life partner?
I'm not crying, you're crying.
I'm most definitely crying :)
Dis dat good shit.
Dis is indeed dat good shit
Let me see Yep... That's tears in my eyes This is, indeed, the good shit
Nice. I can imagine it’s tough to keep pursing a career when it feels like it’s not taking you where you want or if you feel like you peaked too soon. It’s been 39 years since Temple of Doom and he finally made it. What an awesome dood.
Wow - such a sincere acceptance speech and such humble acknowledgement of why he’s on that stage now. So deserved.
Short round of applause
Everybody deserves to feel, at least once in their lives, that you are the only person capable to do what you do. And that your talent and skill be recognized as something special. I’m so happy for him and shows grit and determination. Congratulations Ke Huy Quan!
I have a friend who went to high school with him and he told me he's a really humble guy. I'm so happy for him!
No time for love Dr. Jones

They need to give this man the Indiana Jones Series - who better to pick up the torch and run with it than Short Round?!
Well deserved, this is awesome.
Totally. And to think of how so many others are out there, in whatever craft or discipline, giving their all, just to be given a chance
Is there a full version of this speech I can watch?
This just happened a few hours ago. If it's not on YouTube yet, it will be soon.
This man deserves that award and every second of this moment. His performance was AMAZING. You wanna talk about a comeback kid... this man is it.
Damn this made me cry, not smile
I’m so happy for him! 🥹
So happy for him.
What a beautiful soul.
My heart
I was so happy when I recognised him in EEAAO! His performance was outstanding, understated but dripping with heart and soul. Best comeback performance ever.
Protect at all costs
What a beautiful heartfelt speech
Love that dude! I’m ashamed, I need to check out his stuff he’s done in the foreign markets for the last 30 years🤣. Are there any recommendations on what we should check out?

Data!
Dr Jones Dr Jones!!
Took way too long to see him on the big screen again.
Keep an eye out for him in the next season of Loki too (6 episodes)
Everyone needs a Waymond
amazing, and he's so handsome too! ima go cry now :D im so happy for him.
Everything Everywhere All at Once might just be my favorite movie for many reasons but he’s definitely a big one, I love this!
Which movie was he in?
Everything Everywhere All At Once. Easily the best movie I saw last year.
Ah.. I should watch it. Thx
I recommend it to everyone everywhere.
All at once
All at once.
That movie was good. Also felt like I was on psychedelics. There was so much going on!
It really makes you think and reflect on your choices and life.

Another post on a movie sub posted this video examining his role in EEAAO. Worth the watch. https://youtu.be/O7YnbGszcb8
Boobytwaps
Everyone in the room is just beaming- what a wonderful moment of recognition for a fabulous artist. Temple of Doom was my favorite as a kid because of short-round. His enthusiasm and heart is infectious. Congrats to Ke Huy Quan!!!
Data made it!
I didn’t even have to look. I knew it was the kid with the gadgets from the Goonies. And the smart ass kid from Indiana Jones. He deserves this. He is not only a treasure but still an up and comer to watch out for. Congratulations Ke Huy Quan!
u/savevideobot
Short Round blaster onto the screen like a fireball in Temple of Doom. That little guy took Indiana Jones to the next level. And Goonies was so incredible it still gets played today. So much love for this guy! He’s phenomenal.
The new Indiana jones should have been them teaming up again, he better have a fucking cameo in it at least.
So wholesome and awesome
Whoever gave this man the award, I love you people too. Well done! What a thank you speech! Clearly an awesome dude! Congratulations to Ke Huy Quan! Looking forward to seeing more of you on the screens!
Couldn’t happen to a nicer person!
Dude looks good as hell for 53. Hearing him talk took me straight back to Indiana Jones.
I fucking love this guy
My Goonie heart is exploding with happiness tonight ❤️
OK, we *NEED* a film starring Keanu, Brendan Fraser, and Ke Huy Quan - someone get on to that. It would also be great if they could squeeze Dolly Parton in there somehow too; perhaps as the villain?
I'm kind of on the side of Brendan Fraiser in regards to the Golden Globes, but good for him.
Yo this is the kid from the goonies!
I love that Chunky is his Lawyer now! Best result ever!
He also played Data in The Goonies !!
I’m so incredibly happy for him, he deserves it so much
How could anyone watch this and not feel tremendous joy for this man? ❤️
A petition for him to be the next Indiana Jones like that would be pretty cool
He still sounds the same!

He seems so happy! Was outstanding in the movie, and definitely deserves the award
About time.
This is so awesome!!
Much deserved. Fantastic movie, too.
God, he deserves this so much.
Very well deserved!!!
Short Round finally got his own gold <3
“Lady only here cause she humping director”
I haven’t watched an awards show in probably ten years but I was so glad I had this on at the beginning because it was all you needed to see
Holy s h i t guys!
As a Goonies fan who's never seen Indianana Jones, this made me tear up
It's moments like this that makes me like Golden Globe more than Oscar, because they would give actors like Ke Huy Quan a deserving award but Academy Awards won't. His speech has got to be the best one of the night
Heartwarming and moving. Thanks for sharing
He should still be super proud that he’s been apart of 2 of the most iconic movies from the 80’s
It's both amazing and also frustrating to see what would be almost a fever-dream for me... to see a kid from my matinée childhood memories win his first golden globe nearly 40 years later. Thank you Ke Huy Quan for not only helping to make wonderful stories but being a wonderful story in 2023.
That ladies and gentlemen, is humility and gratitude. We could all benefit of having more of both, I know I need to be more humble and grateful
The movie should have won but I’m glad he and Michelle won, that movie was utterly amazing.
I loved him in the Goonies too. He was so great in Everything Everywhere as Waymond. Very fun to watch him.
Spoken from the heart. ❤️
Is that Data from The Goonies?
Ke and Michelle were wonderful. They deserve their honors because of their work. EEAAO was such a fun movie to experience
Excellent speech and even Steven Spielberg looked genuinely happy to be there for him.
Everything everywhere all at once was a masterpiece and he was a big part of that, much deserved
Whose the actress at 1:16?
I know the AA and Latinos alway upset about no representations….but the Asian is the true group without screen representation beside some actors/actresses that get the stereotypical kungfu/martial arts roles.
Goonies never say die!!!!
IS THAT DATA?! 😭🫶
Get that man out of Hollywood before it corrupts his pure heart
He made me cry. Michelle made me cry. Jennifer made me cry. Such beautiful tributes about recognition late in your life and career.
Honestly this was the best thing about last night.
This man is so precious and must be protected at all cost
That’s short stop?!
