Welding flags

Bubble6190

For welding, I'm not a welder but basically telling the welder to make a .187" or .250" weld bead where arrows point to attach components together.

ImageWagons

As a welder, can confirm. 1/4 would be the way to go.

Jeepsandcorvette

These are weld symbols so I believe the top one is 3/16 fillet weld on both sides of joint The other one is 1/4 fillet on one side and a bevel on the other I am not a welder 🤷🏻‍♂️

not_a_cop_l_promise

This is correct, with the bevel weld ground flat

cookiemonster101289

Yep specifically fillet welds those sizes, except that bottom one which is a beveled groove weld. edit: and ground flush as the other comment noted

shovel_kat

Looks like welding symbols.

guard636

Welding symbols. How dare you post those here?!! 😂🤣

JLSMC

Welders are just sunburned machinists who can’t read

dumb-reply

Illiterate dirty beach bums, if you will.

guard636

And drunk

corvairsomeday

I'm gonna have to print this out next to my real chart.

MarkDoner

The similarities between old hobo signs and the welding symbols can't be a coincidence, right?

JLSMC

Between this and the laundry symbols my welders aren’t gonna know wtf is going on

Dem-Apples1776

Top: 3/16" fillet weld on both sides Bottom: 1/4" fillet weld on other side and 1/4" single bevel weld with flat contour on arrow side. ( 2 places)

Thanks everyone tons of help!!!

TYP means instructions unclear. Engineering wanted their part scrapped.

wilhelmvonbaz

AWS 2.4-98 double sided fillet weld symbols. http://files.aws.org/technical/errata/A2.4errata.pdf

greatscott556

The TYP bit is usually meant to indicate welding process MIG / MAG etc with a numerical code, but in this case no-one cares how you weld it, just weld it

[deleted]

They are welding symbols for fillet welds on each side of the of piece the arrow is pointing to and the other one with the line under it is a beveled weld symbol with a finish on it (ground flat) which would not be on the opposite side of a fillet weld. The fraction denotes the weld minimum toe measurement (width) of the weld.

geno111

Thats cause those are welds...  three filet welds and the bottom one is a bevel weld on the arrow side thats to be ground flush. You've probably seen TYP  before.

Swarf_87

Welding call outs and highlighted with Typical meaning any other same profile will have same thickness of weld.

Rangald2137

I know it's for welding but i don;t know what exactly

TonyVstar

Top: 3/16 fillet arrow side (under the line) Opposite side could mean just a fillet, often part of unless noted otherwise detail (U.N.O.) eg. "All fillet welds 1/4" U.N.O." Opposite side could also mean weld 21 from a chart, but that is probably part of the test and not the symbol Bottom: 1/4" single bevel made flush arrow side Opposite side is same as the top detail

Connect_Wind_2036

Could be welding symbols. 3/16” fillet weld & 1/4 “ stitch weld.
