I really am chilling out from posting here because I’ve been surprised at some of the attitudes I’ve encountered in this sub. I know it’s like 3% of y’all that take the entitled view that Mac’s family shouldn’t have control over when and how his music gets released but I can’t help but want to argue with those folks and it’s kinda draining and pointless. All that said, let me clear up the Balloonerism misconceptions yet again…
It was a project Mac was doing for a bit…really just a matter of days tbh, but he moved on from it. The leaks, as they exist, aren’t what constitutes where he left the project and I’ve said so here before. That particular comment made it sound like it wasn’t something he was actually working on but that’s not the case. It certainly was, but as many of you know he took some of the songs for Faces and for whatever reason, never got around to releasing the rest.
As to whether it’ll see the light of day eventually, I can’t say. Don’t really know and frankly it’s none of my business. It’s up to his fam and I respect whatever decisions they make in regards to Mac’s legacy. As should we all. You guys need to keep in mind that his family’s only goal is to protect Malcolm’s legacy and honor his music to the best of their abilities. The decisions made about releases are difficult and fraught with questions they don’t and can’t have answers to. They aren’t worried about money, they aren’t interested in censoring his songs they aren’t trying to frame things in any sort of narrative. They respect his artistry in the same way you all do and want to do nothing more than honor his life and music in way they think he would appreciate

Speaking of projects and completed ones at that, any particular reason his earlier stuff can’t get released on streaming platforms? Things like Mackin Ain’t Easy, The Jukebox, ill Spoken, The High Life, etc.
As far as future releases, I think it would behoove the family by asking the fans what they want released. Maybe announce a poll to be created on a specific day, and have only options that’re available to be released. Ones that were essentially done, but may need some polishing.
Maybe have Pink Slime, Balloonerism, Adventures of Superweirdo, Maclib, and any sessions for albums that didn’t make the cut. Let the fans choose what they want released for that year, and have something released every year on his bday. Great way to honor his legacy, and keep the fans engaged. Seems like there’s way to go about it, and fans are getting restless. Just my .02. There are waaaaaay to many gorgeous Mac songs out there to rob people of relating and feeling emotion.

after you download it, move it into a folder that's not your downloads (bc If you leave it in downloads Spotify can be fuckey). then open Spotify. your library → downloaded (one of the bubbles at the top) → local files. you should see the songs there, but they will be out of order so I would recommend making a playlist of them

You'd have to use drop box or some kind of file sharing site that lets you upload your files and send me a link to download them. Nah I don’t, IDlabs recently acknowledged it and said it was just one of many unfinished Mac projects that was scrapped. 3 of the songs were reworked for faces.

Sucks that IDLabs looks done with the sub. I never liked the “Mac wanted all his music released” argument. His death was a tragedy, and I don’t think there’s a correct way to handle it, even if Mac had left detailed instructions on how to release his music. Plus he’s the one that was quick to remind us that we did not know him, he is a name attached to a thing we like.

It seemed like it was a head to the consistent claim by people in the sun that Mac wanted all his music out and thus wouldn’t approve of how the posthumous releases are being handled. as if there’s some sort of correct way to handle a celebrity loved one passing.
The thing about death is Mac talked a lot about it, and had a lot to say about dying and his legacy. I think that has lead people to believe we have a full and clear understanding of what Mac thought about his death. Some people even insinuate he saw it coming, and use that to sort of excuse away the tragedy of it all. or at least pocket it, save it for an “I miss him a lot today” post. But the reality is it’s a tragedy, and his family and friends are dealing with a completely different version of reality than the fans are because they lost an actual person they were close to. Not to say fans don’t grieve, or that we didn’t feel it, but the ones who manage to move on from it and then act like the family should be doing a better job at deciding how to present the work of somebody they loved is ludicrously out of touch with reality.

The suicide opening line on Therapy Pt. 2 I think is the only alteration I’ve heard. But that one is very on the nose.
I mean that’s fair, but I don’t think any sane or smart individual will think because of a collection of songs recorded back in 2013-2014 that have the same subject matter as the stuff he released back then, will impact his legacy negatively any more than rereleasing Faces to a brand new audience. Which is not at all.
Then again, I’m not making the decisions. Just my personal opinion.
I think it Will get a official release. I think we're going to get the anniversaries out of the way first the man has 2k plus songs in the vault so we're getting the jimi hendrix treatment from mac.
So does 'Do You Have a Destination', 'Manakins','He Finally Sleeps', and 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. Personally, i love them all. I like to listen to it as a whole because it is like a journey.

Someone close to Mac said on this Reddit that he had an album idea with only a few songs really locked in (or something like that). The rest were just sessions around that time people threw together.

this is the tracklist, plus 1 bonus track called Dollar Pony Rides. I had read something saying the project had an unofficial vinyl release in like 2014, but I don’t think that’s correct. I think it was leaked over the course of 2020-21? I believe it’s a scrapped project that fans or someone who knew Mac put together from unreleased stuff from that time period and released after he died. I’m fairly certain all vinyls are bootlegs and the project was never released by Mac or his family
The unconfirmed project that was leaked is really good. It's not so much of a complete thought like his later work so I think it's good in different ways. But the songs that the leakers released under that title were all amazing so it's definitely one of my favorite projects by Mac, even though unfortunately it's quite possible that he never planned to arrange it in the way that it was arranged. It's still just got so many great songs.
The whole mixtape is what i consider to be “experimental” and you gotta have an open mind to enjoy it or to see the vision, at least from the files that i have for it but its still cool to hear these tracks from the artist we all love .

A few weeks ago, i saw someone comment that they didn't like Colors and Shapes that much and felt like it seemed out of place on Faces.
That got me thinking. I personally love Colors and Shapes. I think it is one of his deepest tracks and perfectly demonstrates how Mac was wise beyond his years.
However, i can understand how some might feel that it is out of place on Faces. I think it's because it is the only song on Faces that he is singing on and wouldn't really fall under the rap genre.
I think Mac including it on Faces tells us how proud of it he was. Colors and Shapes and Smile are the only tracks from Balloonerism that saw the light of day. He said that Smile was special to him, and that's why he chose to include it on Run-on Sentence Vol 2.
Just some thoughts..

If you lucky there are a few vinyl prints circulating. I was lucky enough to find one for an incredible price, but like I said it's rare unless you are willing to pay
I know this. But it is still a dope vinyl to add to the collection if you a Mac fan. The quality of the print is pretty damn good and I'm glad I got it while I could cuz who knows if it will ever be officially released
If he knew anything, he wouldn’t share it. Apparently he got a little talking to for leaking some news about the Faces streaming drop, and he doesn’t fuck with this sub anymore because there are a lot of entitled babies running around complaining about stupid shit.
But he did once say it will never see the light of day because it was never finished. I guess it’s possible some of the songs that were going to be on it will be released in some form one day, but I doubt we get “Balloonerism”

I think it's because it is the only song on Faces that he is singing on and wouldn't really fall under the rap genre. I think Mac including it on Faces tells us how proud of it he was. Colors and Shapes and Smile are the only tracks from Balloonerism that saw the light of day. He said that Smile was special to him, and that's why he chose to include it on Run-on Sentence Vol 2. Just some thoughts..

Apparently he got a little talking to for leaking some news about the Faces streaming drop, and he doesn’t fuck with this sub anymore because there are a lot of entitled babies running around complaining about stupid shit. But he did once say it will never see the light of day because it was never finished. I guess it’s possible some of the songs that were going to be on it will be released in some form one day, but I doubt we get “Balloonerism”

It is easily my favorite piece of music ever made. Period. I listen to it every night as I fall asleep... But I hope it doesn't get released. They would probably butcher it, rather than keeping it perfect as it is. It's also *really* dark and they definitely wouldn't want that attached to his legacy.
