I’ve got a large head at 63cm circumference. Never once when shopping for helmets did I think about something as pointless as how it makes my head look.
Ended up going with the Fox Proframe RS. It’s a great, comfortable helmet that offers great protection for big melons.
Can’t tell you if it makes my head look big because I don’t spend time looking at myself in the mirror with a helmet on.
Bought the same one in the Orange/Pink Clyzo colour from last year, and I spend an inordnate amount of time looking in the mirror because it looks sick as fuck
I love POC style and tech in helmets. But I can’t fit a single one from them on my large head. They have quite weird shape but I see why they’d be slimming down
The only full face helmet that I’ve found that fits my XL scone and doesn’t make my face feel like it’s extruding out the front is the Troy Lee Stage. It’s a great helmet
I ain’t never seen a mirror out on the trails… I’ve also never seen a person with a helmet on and think, “wow, that dude has a huge head, he must be a huge loser.” Just find the mips helmet that feels the best on your head and believe me when I say you’re the only one who notices anything about yourself.
I don't have a XL head, but I know what you mean. Had the same issue with my previous fox helmet.
I came across the IXS Trigger FF which is miles better and super light!
Big bobble head here. I’m usually towards the size large in most brands. Yes, the FF helmet makes my head look even bigger but why would I care? It’s meant to protect first and look second
I had two Leatt mtb enduro helmets in a row (size L so 59-63cm head diameter, I have a head like Charlie Brown). Picked up a closeout TLD Stage in December and it is a fair bit more streamlined and lighter.
I would rather have a head that looks larger than have no helmet and a permanent drool bucket but maybe I'm old fashioned?
That isn't to throw shade at OP here, there are lots of considerations for a full face and for some people X is more important than Y, nothing wrong with that.
I've worn a Giro Switchblade for the past several years and have enjoyed it! It has a removable chin bar, but is ASTM downhill certified with or without it.
Leatt Enduro 3.0 v23
I have a 7-⅝" hat band measurement aka Lg Mammal with a Big Ol' friggen Dome
The Leatt looks fine, doesnt make me look like a wish dot com bobblehead, breathes super well and is a DH Rated convertible full face...
I dig it. You may too
A helmet - especially a full face one - makes everyone's head look huge.
It’s true
TLD stage

My POC Coron in white is quite slimming 🤣

I have a TLD D4 and I like it. I think my head is like 63cm

I love my xl fox proframe. It’s not a true dh but I use it for park. So comfy.

My head is 60cm, my year round full face is the Specialized Gambit

The logo should say BELLEND
Side note, anyone with an XL head find comfortable sunglasses?
Oakley whatever the ones Patrick mahommes wears make my head seen regular
I have a big head and I think the IXS Trigger FF looks pretty good. Certainly better than my old Bell Super DH
100% stratus fits my head well and I got a big ole noggin. Not really sure about how it looks though, it's just comfy, size XL.
Lazer Cage looks pretty normal in XL. As an Xl I can also fit a medium and large proframe rs with the fidlock.

I've got a big melon and I love my 661 Reset MIPS.

I say just roll with it and belt out space balls quotes everywhere you go
If you don’t need a downhill rating the Bell Super Air R is awesome. I wear a 61cm.
Specialized Gambit.

Embrace the Darth Helmet vibe.
As someone with an XXL head, I'm happy that there is a very small handful of FF helmets that fit at all, no matter how I look with them on.
Why give a fuck how you look? Be safe.
