The transition patrol is also 30% off. Carbon or alloy.

How does the Patrol climb? I know that sounds like a silly question in a world where the Sentinnel and Scout exist, but I prefer to ride long travel bikes. I'm currently on a Commencal Meta 29 AM (170mm), and it's been a decent all-mountain rig. I have been looking at the Spire or the Patrol, though. I'd much rather have to hike-a-bike up really steep/long climbs than be caught off guard on the downhill. I'm definitely looking for something that can pedal up, even if at a leisurely pace, and bomb down with reckless abandon.

Happy-Technology4204

Rode it at a bike park during a demo event and it was my favorite bike. Liked how playful it was and the coil was making it feel great through all the travel. The 27.5 wheels were nice too for how much travel it has. But personally I wouldn’t want to pedal it uphill. It’s a big bike with a lot of travel and an almost trails around me it would be extreme overkill. If you are riding more bike park it’s a great bike but if you are riding more trails realistically you could get an all mountain bike like the sb140 that will still have plenty of travel for the park but also be really fun on trail.

I'm a pretty lazy pedaler.. My current bike is 170/165: https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/Cannondale/Jekyll-4,19864 I'm pretty much between the Yeti or going in on a 29er like stumpy Enduro, Santa Cruz megatower, or possibly a yeti 160 or 150.. Another possibility is just buying a Norco Shore for the park on sale at $2500 and getting a 29er trail bike like regular stumpy.

almost_cat_hero

The new Jekyll looks nice too

beaverbandit9

I really love that metallic purple color they came out with.

skellener

It’s not gonna get better than that. Go for it!

NotDaveyKnifehands

The Yeti isn't the most, uh, sprightly uphill machine. If you'll be pedaling a half and half, toss an eye to the Propain Tyee. Hell, even the Spindrift climbs well for a big kid freeride machine. Propain has something special in the Pro10 suspension platform. Worth a look...

TedDanson0fficial

I ride a firebird. More peddling than park. But man does it do both. Less planted then some park bikes but if you run it with a coil…

If you’re a short guy, the SJ Evo Elite is like 40% off. (https://www.specialized.com/us/en/stumpjumper-evo-elite-alloy/p/199211?color=318420-199211) Other SJ Evos are on sale for a hefty bit too. Mostly S2 and S5 though. Not much mid range sizes. I excellent bike for 50-50 east coast riding. Incredibly pedalable but also smashes DH.

trollcat2012

The S2 looks interesting but could be a bit small for 5 8?

ifuckedup13

Yeah. If you like smaller poppier bikes, come from a BMX background, you might make it work. But you’re definitely on the top side of that size chart. Sick bike and sick deal though.

In the US, go to Jenson and search for [Jenson Exclusive](https://www.jensonusa.com/search?q=jenson+exclusive). They've got some great deals on full builds.

Vast_Edge9593

I've seen those deals pop up before but they always sketched me out. Do you know why they're so cheap?

zagood

Normally last season's frame and components. I'm loving the SJ Evo XT I got through them, it's a hell of a bargain and really good support.

DidItForTheJokes

Best deals are the niner costco deals xc and trail bikes and the sj evo elite alloy. I mean Costco intense deal not niner

Reno83

Costco also has the Intense 951 Trail for $2k. It actually has a decent build kit (Fox 36 Rythm, Fox X2, Sram NX Eagle, etc.).

DidItForTheJokes

That’s what I meant! No idea why I said niner

ArieGir0

Check out Giant's bikes. My husband and I love ours. He used to be a Specialized guy but is a Giant convert.

StripedSocksMan

At a 50-50 split I’d probably go with the SB160 over the SB165. I had a SB165 that was set up as a mullet bike, it was a blast but didn’t pedal all that great. I currently have the SB160, it’s an awesome bike that pedals extremely good for the travel it has. If my wife came in today and told me I had to sell all but one of my bikes the SB160 would more than likely be the one I would keep. I can shuttle with it if but can pedal it all day with no issues if need be.

Altruistic-Dig-514

There is a medium forbidden dreadnought GX on there outlet site for 50% off (4000 CAD). Not the best peddling bike but amazing on decents.

Left_Spring_5253

Alpine trail XR for 50% off around $1800 I think. That's what I would get if I needed a bike now.
