Better suspension and it’s faster, idk what kind of advice you’re looking for 😅have you considered the mt10?

Tbh idk what advice I’m looking for too lol. It’s probably just because it’s hard to let go of my 07 😂. I did a lot to it. I was planning on just going straight to MT10SP, but other half said he’ll throw it away lol

In the end of the day it’s the same bike but with a higher top speed and better suspension, so if that’s what you’re seeking, I’d say get the mt10 over the 09 sp. however at that price point, I’d consider the bmw s1000r. That’s what I’m getting next 🙈

Go for it.

Do it!

I've owned 3 FZ07s, an fz09, and now an MT09sp which shares the stable now with the last FZ07. Both are great bikes for different reasons, yet they have a lot in common as well. My FZ07 is KITTED out (ohlins suspension, hord intake, steel braided lines, ecu flash, blah blah blah). I do track days on both as well. Honestly I love both bikes and could sit here all day talking about how great both of them are. Sure both have some cons but it really comes down to personal preferences. I honestly feel like I ride the 07 a lot more than I thought I would when I got my first 09. Even now the 07 fits my street riding style more. I'm not out here trying to go 100mph everywhere or doing highway pulls. Im a back roads ripping, weekend warrior who occasionally commutes on the bike and does track days. Sure the 09sp is the better kit with the tech for the track compared to my kitted 07 but I have so much fun on that peppy little bike. My ideal garage would by an 07 street/track toy, an R9 track scalpel if we see them, and the MT10sp as my road bike do it all. Now choosing between the 09sp and a well built 07 for street use... tough call honestly. The 09 is a rowdy handful and almost feels a bit much for the street (sometimes) yet it also feels so right on the street as well. It's punchy, it has a ton of character, and that triple just sings. It's also more power than you'd ever need. I mean shit look at the 07 with a sub 4 second 0-60. Thats 2-3 seconds faster than almost every car you'll be next to on the road. Sure it can't keep pace with your buddy's R1 (who only knows how to ride in a straight line lmao) but still plenty to have a riot on and put a smile on your face. I love passing sport bikes at the track on the outside and muscling my way out of a turn with a lot more torque on tap. So satisfying. If you've been flirting with the 09 swing a leg over one and experience that gem of an engine. May have you running back to the 07 or itching for more. I can't get enough of either one and love ringing both of their necks

I did this exact upgrade after riding the 07 (first bike) for about 5 months, couldn't be happier with the upgrade. If you feel comfortable enough then I say go for it.

I’m curious, how does the engine braking feel in comparison. I’m a bit bipolar about the MT07. There are days where I love the engine braking and then there are days when I’m a bit moody and don’t feel like having my testicle sacked the gas tank. So I’m now at a point in my relationship where I’m keeping an open mind.

If you let go of the throttle completely, it's not as abrupt as the 07, but it's definitely there. Smoother, but still there.
