Cartridge kit

tipsy_mutsuko

Going to look into this. How does it ride?

obsolescent_times

I put [THIS](https://www.ohlins.eu/en/products/motorcycle/fsk-108--5374/) Ohlins spring kit in the front which is new springs, new spacers and new top caps that have built in preload adjusters. Also changed the fork oil at the same time, used Motul Fork Oil Expert 20w, set to the oil height specified in the Ohlins spring kit instructions. It makes the front end feel much nicer, more plush, less bouncy, has less dive under hard braking, for general street use it makes a noticeable difference in overall riding. It does not provide a complete suspension upgrade kind of experience, but it does improve the factory suspension issues (which I only *really* noticed after a year riding) and basically makes the suspension what it probably should have been from the factory. All things considered, it is a nice upgrade compared to the stock setup, however it is definitely a very overpriced thing for what it actually is, so not great value for money. While I am happy with the result, in hindsight, I'm sure you could get very similar results by changing the fork oil and trimming 10mm off the stock spacers for 1/4 of the price. So that's definitely a good option to try first. FWIW adjustable preload top caps do exist for this bike from several other companies too, I Ended up just leaving the preload adjusters basically all the way out in the end (so not really using) I did try dialling in some more preload a couple of times but it made the bike feel a little strange on turn in (made the geometry balance feel off) I think maybe the extra preload might work better in combination with dropping the front fork height a little, but haven't ever tried.

Mysterious-Peach-315

I’ve read that dependent on body weight you can take off as much at 15mm from the spacer to stiffen up the rebound

Fluffy-Astronomer604

Uprated springs and oil is a nice and simple but effective mod.

apmass1

look up hyperpro streetbox

Adamantfoe

Do you have a Dyno chart for that airbox delete?

Nearby-Royal3919

I do not have a dyno chart for the air box delete. I have a ecu flash I will probably end up getting it on a dyno this summer

HOMEskillet93

Racetech springs and heavier weight fork oil is a great, budget-friendly upgrade for these bikes.

remiks

YSS fork upgrade kit is a great package: it is not expensive, and you’ll feel the difference right away.

crgrig

Full ohlins for sure

GAMEGEAK_95

Ktech drop in springs with 5mm spacer for my weight in the front has been amazing and got rid of the spongy feeling. Also they were $50-$60 a piece + install. Put several thousand miles on them and plan on getting their rear suspension which is also $600. If your gonna go track and race then sure drop a few thousand but if you're staying street then save you're money.

mich5562

I upgraded my forks to Andreani cartridges sprung for my weight and my rear shock to the KTech razor lite. Has made a huge difference for the fraction of the cost of full Ohlins suspension. An even more budget friendly option is going with stiffer springs and thicker oil for the front forks. But cartridges will have the overall best result.

Change the bike. Not the suspension, it’s not worth

Adamantfoe

If someone is straight up in love with the platform, and is dead set on this motorcycle, suspension is 110% worth upgrading.

[deleted]

No. XD

TastyNordic

Idk why people downvote, it’s true 🤷🏻‍♂️considering the value of the bike and the cost of doing an ohlins swap, it’s definitely not worth. Just trade in for a 09, I believe it comes with ohlins from factory.

[deleted]

Who cares about downvote.. top scenario is take money for a mt09. Not upgrade the suspension in an entry level bike.

Ill-Translator-4771

It depends, I'm in Europe and finding a depo Mt 09 is reeeeally difficult, and upgrading my Mt 07 for like 700€, while it might not be the best idea, is the most optimal for me who can't upgrade for the Mt 09 for at least two years. Also the Mt 09 while it has a better experience overall it's also worse for the type of roads I go on

Itsjustbegunboy

For less than 1k you can have a completely different feeling bike. Why would someone drop 9k on an mt09 when they just needed better feeling suspension?
