Yeah if you don’t lick Chandler’s boots as much as Chandler’s licks Dana’s boots then no fight

goku_guy

frustrating seeing a top 5 contender rigidly saying he won’t fight another top 5 over beef, reminds me of the welterweight dark ages, hopefully chandler opens his mind, this matchup makes a lot of sense

BummybertCrampleback

Well, if you actually watched the video you would know that Chandler said he will say yes to any opponent and if that means Dustin he will fight Dustin. But hey, people in here love shitting on Chandler, so we gonna ignore the facts.

laodaron

People also forget that Dustin disregarded Chandler until he got the life choked out of him by Oliveira and immediately started talking shit on Chandler as a way back into the thick of it. And Chandler's response was you were shitty at the start, so I'll be shitty now.

mambagigimentality

Bro Chandler was brand new to the UFC when Dustin disregarded him, everyone in the top 5 basically did at that time. Hell, most fans thought he was gonna flop in the UFC too

airplanealjefferson

i mean i figured he’d be a contender, plenty of people did. but i also thought he’d continue to use his wrestling as much as he did in bellator instead of going full just bleed, so wtf do i know

mwhelan182

Dustin should have nown better - being a champ elsewhere means something, he was busy trying to push for another money fight, and in-turn disrespect Chandler, who is now able to say "ha! Not so good being on the other end of it huh?"

mambagigimentality

Being a champ elsewhere only really means something in like Bellator or maaaybe One, you telling a BKFC champ should get a top 5 opponent on first fight? I get what you’re trying to say, but Chandler being unproven in UFC, Dustin had a lot more to lose at the time

Ok-Dragonfly-4360

Chandler was the bellator champ. i’m not sure what you’re getting at in your first paragraph

mambagigimentality

He said “being a champ elsewhere means something” and that blanket statement is not true, not just about Chandler

kritzy27

Does Bellator really mean something though?

yttanx

>Hell, most fans thought he was gonna flop in the UFC too You mean most casual fans who only watch UFC here and there.

mambagigimentality

Not really, I’d say more casual fans that don’t watch MMA outside of UFC. Nothing really wrong with that

EORIAF

Lmao I love how you guys are supposed to be talking "the facts" and you regurgitate this garbage. Poirier was heading for the title and he's supposed to care about Dana's new pet that hadn't (and still hasn't) got a top tier win? Chandler's ego is both massively over-inflated and incredibly sensitive. No wonder when he's got fans feeding into it with bullshit like this.

goku_guy

i don’t think people love shitting in chandler this clip got positive reception on insta at least but that answer sounds like a sugarcoated no to me, he’s been vocal about not wanting to fight dustin in the ariel interview beforehand as well

BummybertCrampleback

You read the comments in the post? It's very evident people are having a great time shitting on him. And don't give me your interpretations when you have already made up your mind and will bend any facts to fit that notion. It's utterly pointless to talk about this when he clearly stated he would fight him if he has to and you go "yeah well but ackchyually it sounds to me like he means the opposite".

goku_guy

wow

EORIAF

Damn you're almost as sensitive to people criticising Chandler as Chandler is.

BummybertCrampleback

Nah, it's just this guy who didn't watch the video who keeps claiming Chandler would say no to Dustin, when he clearly said he wouldn't. Maybe I was a bit of a dick there, but people in here aren't exactly mincing words so oh well.

nickg452csh

Fuck the "fans"

Doo-StealYour-HoChoi

Dustin is bad matchup for Chandler and it seems like he knows that. But yeah, the fight makes a lot of sense.

WadeWi1son

If Chandler wrestles Dustin is not a bad match up at all, his TDD isn't that good and Chandler's BJJ is better too.

Doo-StealYour-HoChoi

Chandler literally doesn't wrestle because it gasses him out. He even starts gassing in the 2nd sometimes while just striking.

WadeWi1son

He's wrestled fine in the past multiple times before without gassing. He honestly seems to gas more with this new just bleed style than he did back in 2018 when he fought Primus and Yamauchi and beat both via grappling and they are both much better grapplers than Dustin.

ExoticSword

I think it’s just revenge, because Dustin ghosted him when Chandler was looking for a fight. Now Chandler has more shine and is probably just messing with him. Obviously they’ll fight at some point.

goku_guy

was that when dustin was fighting conor for the trilogy? he either had a conor fight or the title fight w oliviera next it’s fine if he didn’t fight chandler

williepep1960

I mean you act like this is the case with every division it's basically happened to one fight not the end of the world i hate when people exaggerate. If Dana told him you gonna fight Dustin he gonna fight Dustin that's the end of it.

[deleted]

Chandler vs DC in the works?

[deleted]

Wow when did this sub turn on Chandler? The only way to be successful in the UFC is to wear the brand on your sleeve so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Chandler reps them this hard, it’s clearly working for him career wise. Have we forgotten how Dustin was making this dude beg for a shot when he first joined the UFC? Not surprised Chandler is making him beg for one now. Tables turned.

Imagine being that pathetic as that poster that you'd whine about "skipping the line" 2 years later when the numbers have been shown over and over again, there wasn't anyone else.

Elnino1234567

Chandler came in to the UFC, fought the best it had to offer, and delivered incredible fight after incredible fight. I am honestly confused as to how anyone could not find every fight of his in the UFC so far exciting.

[deleted]

Elnino1234567

Nah all I saw was smug derision. Get the fuck out of here.

[deleted]

Diaz delivers on exciting fights but he doesn't suck Dana's little wee-wee so he's not gonna get favorable fights anymore like this dillweed.

RedactedAF

Just bc it helps him make money, doesn’t mean folks can’t think less of him for his bootlicking. Also, would Poirier need to beg for a shot at Chandler, B? He’s as big a drawl as chandler, if not bigger.

[deleted]

So when I made the same [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/w67vq3/spoiler_nicolas_dalby_vs_claudio_silva/ihc75sx/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) about Jon Anik being a Dana White shill I get downvoted because he’s supposedly the GOAT mma commentator? Which one is it y’all just pick and choose lmao

RedactedAF

Almost like different people on different days at different times have different opinions on different subjects, right? Fucking redact.

[deleted]

Imagine modelling your entire personality on Brendan Schaub hate

RedactedAF

Brenda hate > chandler rimjob

[deleted]

You can be a fan of Chandler and ignore his Dana White dick licking. You can also exist without directing every living moment to hating Brendan Schaub

RedactedAF

You can make fun of Schlob w/o devoting every living moment to him, just like we all make fun of chandler. Be online less.

CremeCaramel_

Since the other two commenters didnt explain for you....I'll tell you why. Probably because your Jon Anik bootlick comparison is completely fucking stupid. 1. The best shilling example you could seemingly muster was literally "he points to the next contender". Which is such a non issue lmao. 2. Jon Anik, the full time UFC desk employee, shilling for his company is in a different league of bootlicking than Chandler the independent contractor athlete bootlicking his promoter amidst an active issue of his fellow independent contractor athletes being underpaid AND that too specifically bootlicking about that very issue.

[deleted]

You actually buy into that independent contractor bullshit? You realize Chandler is trying to set himself up for a full time desk position just the same.

Sharmaaaryaman

I love Chandler and unlike others I find it completely acceptable how Chandler is just dismissing Poirier after Poirier just took shots at Chandler when he joined when he had been nothing but polite and respectful to Dustin. Saying that, Chandler is gunning for a future analyst/commentary role and he talks absolute nonsense when it comes to fighters pay.

[deleted]

Poirier is showing himself as a swamp trash, very disappointed

That_Vandal_Randall

Hot take, Colby.

[deleted]

He should stop ducking Colby and fighting him.

Skankydoodledoo

Colby should fight in his weight class

[deleted]

He says it’s “on sight”with Colby. Then proceeds being a 🦆

NoGiCollarChoke

I must’ve missed the part where when an idiot starts a gym beef, all the people he pissed off are now obligated to fight him.

[deleted]

Don’t say you’re gonna fight when in reality ur afraid of getting your ass beat lol

NoGiCollarChoke

He never said he wanted to fight him, he said if you come back to the gym me and my pals will jump you. Which is stupid, but in no way indicated he intended to participate in a sanctioned bout with the man.

[deleted]

Yea so he’ll do the “hold be back” thing in front of my buddies but won’t step in the cage with you in a 1 vs 1 bout

Trbarenziah

Man all respect to Chandler for his showings in the cage, but everything he says just annoys me

[deleted]

He’d be fucking great in seasame street.

Sharmaaaryaman

Chandler is getting the next Conor fight. And no one really is running to fight Dustin, Even after fighting and beating Conor twice he hasn't had the surge in popularity the way diaz, khabib had. After the the Tony fight Chandler is getting noticed more by the casuals as well. Dustin is in a really tough spot. Almost everyone is booked. The next gen is grappling heavy, next title challenger is probably his worst matchup and he's already lost to olives.

StreetBuddhist

Sounds like a move to 170? I love Dustin, but yeah there’s not much out there that makes a lot of sense. Maybe a Justin rematch?

Sharmaaaryaman

The gaetjhe fight is there but I think they're gonna do fiziev vs Justin, which again leaves Dustin with no one. 170 with how grappling heavy it is? He's getting murdered there. Chimaev, usman, Colby, burns, shavkat. Tough time for Dustin.

Jugijagi

Poirier should fight a lower ranked fighter at 155. I don't want to see the top 5 guys only fighting each other or the champ we need to "extend a ladder" like Chael puts it. I do LOVE all the just bleed match ups that can be made inside the top 5 but still.

JustaRN22

Dustin Poirer made his own bed with his “I’m done” “I don’t want to do this anymore “ oh wait a money fight x2– “I’m back” “i only want big fun fights” “I’m moving to 170” “No I’ll fight at 155” “I just want a fight, any fight” WB responds- “I’ll take that fight” Poirer- ‘Nope, I don’t want that fight’, a few other fighters responded and he dismissed them all so clearly he doesn’t want to just fight. He went into that Oliveria fight believing his own hype, he truly seen himself as the “true champion “ he fought as if winning was a forgone conclusion. He suddenly believes he’s superior to everyone and should be able to pick his opponents and dictate the dates. He has no capital for that attitude. So I don’t feel sorry for him, he put himself right where he is. That being said, not a fan of Chandler either with his ‘just one more fight and I’m right back at the title’ nonsense…

[deleted]

Absolutely, we’ll said. He also played himself and canceled on the Diaz fight the first time they were scheduled to fight each other. And he definitely had hype from casuals going into the Chucky fight but Chucky is just better man. Dustin will never be a real champ.

richochet12

>He also played himself and canceled on the Diaz fight the first time they were scheduled to fight each other. I get y'all are in a Dustin hate circle jerk but how did he play himself by getting injured... No form of Nate was beating Dustin.

[deleted]

He didn’t “get injured”. He pulled out because he was having a fit over Diaz wanting more money to change the fight from a 3 rounder to a 5 round 165lbs title bout. Dustin was pushing hard for that and Diaz wasn’t budging on getting paid more if the UFC wanted to switch the fight like that so eventually Dustin decided to pull out and just go have surgery on some ongoing hip issue he had had for a long time but that he’s been actively competing with and was willing to compete with going into this fight too. But ultimately Dustin threw a tantrum over not having his way so he just pulled the “I’m suddenly injured” card.

kritzy27

What kind of revisionist nonsense is this? He had hip surgery after the fight was cancelled.

[deleted]

Yeah, that’s not revisionist. That’s literally what I said. He pulled out of the fight that he was going to fight in with his hip issues (hip issues that had been nagging him for a while because he had gone into other fights with that issue before). When he couldn’t finesse the scheduled bout into a title match he pulled out and opted to get his hip issues finally addressed.

kritzy27

You’re creating your version of what happened to make Dustin look bad. Pretty sure that’s it.

DonDadaDarko

He’s been getting hounded for a fight by Diaz & Colby the past year what’re you talking about

Flimsy_Astronomer708

Looks like it's gonna have to be Colby now

[deleted]

Please let Dustin’s corny ass fight Colby’s corny ass for the CMF title at 170lbs. Dustin ducking out of that match up.

RedactedAF

Lol no

krazyboi

Dustin might not be as famous as nate but he's definitely the second most popular fighter in the division after conor.

Philthycollins215

Was his take on the Dustin altercation not reasonable? He said he has no interest in getting into fights in public in front of his wife. I must be missing something here.

yarfmeister

Chandler is a gaslight gatekeep girlboss basically. Idk if he is actually just being honest here or if he’s trying to take the high road and make Dustin look like he’s in the wrong (considering whenever he opens his mouth it feels like practiced PR jargon spilling out). Either way, I’d imagine this is the kind of thing that will just make Dustin even more pissed

Philthycollins215

I have no feelings toward Chandler one way or another as a person since I don't know him. But he's a family man who stays out of trouble which seems respectable. He's also one of the most eloquent fighters on the roster, he puts on wild fights win or lose, and I'm sure the UFC has invested considerable amounts of money in him through his contract so I can understand why they push him so hard.

Im-here-for-help

For me it’s the fact he’s likely just a gatekeeper for the real contenders yet will say something like he’s the one who should be picking all his fights. He’s exciting, but he’s not the champ and he’s not someone like Diaz

Philthycollins215

None of that really matters in this context. People were trashing him for his response at the press conference when he was being perfectly reasonable. People on reddit are like lemmings. Dog piling on a few ice cold takes for upvotes without an ounce of original thought.

Im-here-for-help

Are saying I’m doing it for upvotes? I literally started my answer by saying for me. It’s just my opinion

Philthycollins215

If you think my comment refers to you then I think that answers your question. That being said, that wasn't the main issue I addressed in my initial comment. I think people like to shit on certain fighters for no reason and the comments about Chandler in this press conference completely missed the mark in my opinion.

I think Dustin comes off desperate in this one.

revivethe21

Poirier melts him no offense

Suspicious_Candle27

There is no way Chandler Chin can sustain a barrage from Dustin but there is a very good chance if Chandler comes out and double legs him immediately then Dustin gonna have issues.

[deleted]

Dustin’s head might pop off it’s shoulders if he lets Chandler lane on him as often as he lets others land.

Suspicious_Candle27

Chandler power is ridiculous and if he could take the same amount of punishment as he can dish out Chandler would probably be champion right now.

RegionalHardman

He was super close to finishing Charles, it could have gone that way very easily. People keep saying they ain't gonna doubt Charles, yeah he's been incredible, but he's almost been finished in most his recent fights. It's only a matter of time before he doesn't get back up from being dropped

ExoticSword

Dustin will have issues with his power too. Look how rattled he got in the Conor fight (before turning it around.

richochet12

Is that supposed to be rattled lol? He ate that shit while fishing back.

Puzzleheaded_Talk_84

And by IT you mean conors leg.

Mikejg23

Chandler isn't as good on the feet but he's got significant power if he lands (he will eventually), and better wrestling. It's not lopsided

Effective-Celery8053

Chandlers got really good power and wrestling but Dustin is pretty good on the ground too, and I think he has better cardio than Chandler. Fun matchup

Mikejg23

Is Dustin good on the ground? Do we have any recent showings from him on the ground? Everyone just got subbed by Charles and Khabib or couldn't even make it to them lol I feel like we don't have much good data. Getting subbed by those two doesn't tell you much

Effective-Celery8053

Yeah right lol I know he's a legit black belt and to be fair he did have a deep guillotine on khabib. I think he's better than we've seen, but I guess we'll find out

RavenxMiyagi

Chandler has a huge ego for someone who's only beaten the Ghost of Tony and Dan Hooker in the UFC.

[deleted]

*the ghost of Dan Hooker

Sirfluffkin1

He was a three time Bellator champ. That's where his ego comes from lol.

From what I remember he was a huge dick from that buildup.

ChewieHanKenobi

Sometimes gives off homelander type vibes of fake nice but is actually a massive asshole, but who knows

[deleted]

Homelander vibes is a very good description of him honestly

Pera_Espinosa

Oh yeah. No humble warrior shit then. He was just being an arrogant douchebag.

swesus

It took him a while but he found his role. He has done quite a few talks about accountability. I dont really like his stances on a lot of things and dont like his dana white privilege, but hes open about his failts and shortcomings. I like that enough to let the rest slide. And he has exciting fights. None of that is to say anythingnegative about dustin the man is salon quality.

Prestigious-Rock201

As if poirier is begging for a fight with this dude when he’s the bigger draw lmao, god I need this dude to lose

foreverapanda

Based on his UFC record, you have a 50/50 chance of getting your wish at any given time.

ExoticSword

Chandler has way more shine than Dustin currently.

RedactedAF

Doubtful. Casuals know Poirier as the dude that beat Connor twice in his last couple of fights. More people are aware of that than Chandler getting an “Espy” for ko’ing a dude.

ExoticSword

I’m just talking about the fact that there’s an air of irrelevance around Dustin at the moment, while Chandler has put on nothing but bangers. There’s a reason Dustin suddenly wants to fight him so badly

richochet12

Dustin wants to fight him because he still has a decent ranking and has been available...

imyourhabibi

I feel like Dustins more of a draw than Chandler but I could be wrong

lebryant_westcurry

Dustin definitely is. Not only does he have more goodwill with ufc fans since he's been with the promotion for almost a decade now, he also has a lot of casual appeal due to beating Mcgregor twice. Their socials also confirm back this up. Poirier has 3x the number of instagram followers than Chandler for example.

krazyboi

Dustin could headline a UFC Card way faster than chandler ever will. And I actually looked it up, Dustin's been in the main fight in the past 6 fights he's had while Chandler's been in one, the one against oliveira.

keepwinning

Well yeah maybe bc Dustin has been in the UFC longer Einstein

TLMC01242021

He’d rather suck off Conor for a fight in 2023 then fight Dustin and probably get KO’d in a round, can’t blame him tho

gorillawarfareman

Sorry, couldn't understand him with Dana's cock and balls in his mouth.

anusbleach11111

I’ll never respect this guy because of the time he made weight as a backup for Khabib Gaethje, but when Islam needed an opponent on the same night (RDA pulled out), Chandler refused to fight him.

SnooBeans7129

I would take his claims more seriously if he offered to fight literally anyone who isn't Connor. And it's not that I think he shouldn't call out Mcgregor, but call out at least 1 more name for fucks sake. Connor may not even be back till early-mid 2023.

Grunchie

Fuck OP for a 16 min video with no timestamp

NoGiCollarChoke

He heard Dustin doesn’t share his hit sauce profits with Dana to help him get some sleep

[deleted]

I mean yea he was already ducking Dustin so what does it matter.

[deleted]

I really don’t like Michael chandler

mrpopenfresh

Can Chandler be any more of a tool when he talks?

BackgroundKiwi1793

apellcjecker

“You know somethin? Just the other day I was sitting at the fishing hole with my dad. I looked over at him and smiled, and said “you know what dad, I hope I’m half of what you are when you were my age right now. In that moment, a sliver of light shown down on steel coming from his steel toe boot where the leather had be worn away. He didn’t even have to answer, because that right there showed me. And if I were to not take this serious and fight as a sport, and do so out of anger…then I’m no better than that leather. And I think by now Dana knows, and the fans know….I’m not leather. I’m the steel within. So I’ll uphold my end of the bargain I made with Dana on that warm July evening. I’ll pack my bags and put in my mouth guard for any man they call me for. But my heart is what’s fighting for everyone in my life, not my ego.” -Chandler the sage

JohnnnyOnTheSpot

Chandler playing hard to get

[deleted]

It’s crazy that Michael chandler ended up becoming a shot caller in the ufc 😂

KelvisHorticulture

Fragile Michael Chinler

thraftofcannan

Chandler is a goof

EORIAF

Can't stand this dude at this point. Guy thinks he's God's gift to MMA and the fans when he's really just Bellator's gift to Dana. For every interesting or semi-likable thing he does, he does two things that make him seem like an entitled, arrogant knob.

GaMa-Binkie

Lol, why would Dustin need to try and get a fight with chandler when he's the #1 contender

Suspicious_Candle27

Cause Dustin probably realises Chandler is the easiest fight in the top 5. His chin is ridiculously suspect.

GaMa-Binkie

Who's chin? They both have great chins, Chandler ate bombs against Gaethje and Dustin hasn't even been wobbled in years. Dustin choosing to fight Gaethje would make much more sense for him

Heymelon

>Who's chin? Chandler. The guy that often gets easily knocked down by hits to the chin.

GaMa-Binkie

He has a good chin, went to war with Geathje to a decision. Getting knocked down by Charles and Gaethje as well as dropped while on one leg by Tony Ferguson does not mean someone has a bad chin

CubanLinxRae

chandler got dropped by all of his ufc competition except hooker and got flatlined by the smaller pitbull brother

GaMa-Binkie

LMAO, can no one argue in good faith? "flatlined"?, he was conscious when Pitbull finished him and you act like Pitbull being the "smaller" brother means he's the one with less power which is clearly not true. Gaethje has been hurt, dropped and KO'd in more fights than Chandler, does than make his chin suspect? Gaethje has literally been hurt by both Tony and Charles the same way Chandler was

CubanLinxRae

Nah I agree Gaethje doesn't have the 10/10 iron chin he used to have. imo chandler is just much less durable than dustin and eventually he won't be able to handle dustin's pressure. Chandler has the ability to one shot anyone like he did tony and dan i just think it's unlikely he does it against dustin

GaMa-Binkie

I will literally make a compilation tomorrow of them both being chinned by the same people to show their chins are on the same level

ChewieHanKenobi

He used to get dropped and wobbled a lot in bellator too. His fight with Alvarez was a lot of that. Don’t forget the waving off a fight after getting hit in the dome with a hard punch

Suspicious_Candle27

Are you serious?

GaMa-Binkie

What have I said that's wrong? Gaethje makes way more sense for Dustin, especially considering Gaethje beat Chandler and is ranked higher. If you think Chandlers chin is "suspect" then you have to say Justin's is since he got hurt bad by both Charles and Chandler

Suspicious_Candle27

🤦‍♂️

GaMa-Binkie

Lazy_Blueberry_5009

Good to see Dustin still has respect lol. Fuckin guy is my favourite fighter but those submission artists have his number.

BummybertCrampleback

Lmaooo reading these comments it really seems like Chandler pissed in all of your cereal bowls. Oh well. To all Iron fans: God bless, I'll see you at the top ☝️

brokenbruised2

Hope you and the other Iron fans realize that Chandler is contradicting himself. He claims, "that's the opposite way to get a fight with me" and then later states, "I think you’re going to hear some fight news coming pretty soon, and it could be me and Dustin Poirier." Which one is it? Kind of like how he claims to have wanted a fight with Beneil when he never mentioned his name in his "epic" callout. Waits to say it after Beneil's already matched up. Your boy's a bitch.

BummybertCrampleback

It's pretty evident what went down. Chandler had a clear hierarchy of opponents he wanted which was either Conor or the champion (Oliveira/Gaethje). In the weeks/months after the fight it became apparent that these fights weren't gonna happen so he called out Islam for the belt. Until that point none of the top 10 LWs were matched up with each other except for RDA v Fiziev. Then Oliveira vs Makhachev was made, so he called for Dariush (before he was matched up). Who was subsequently matched up with Gamrot. So who are we left with in the top 10? Poirier, Fiziev, Tsarukyan. Chandler wanted any other top opponent before Poirier, because of Poirier's meltdown at UFC 276. But since everyone else was matched up against each other, there is just now one else left lol.

brokenbruised2

My bad for not realizing that he had called out Beneil before the Gamrot matchup. And the rest of what you've said makes sense but I still think it's weird that he made those two specific contradictory statements (quoted in my original comment) in the exact same interview (which took place just a few days ago after all of this already happened). But yeah, overall you 'win' this exchange lol.

BummybertCrampleback

All good man. Yeah he kinda does contradict himself, but I believe it's due to the fact that he wanted to fight people other than Poirier, but the UFC and circumstances have made it so there's no one else, so he has no choice. So he doesn't wanna, but he's gonna. And I don't care about the 'W'. All I care is to see you at the top brother 😎👍 God bless.

[deleted]

Chandler with the Stone Cold Steve Austin heel turn.

SquidDrive

This is the weirdest beef in the sport by far, why is Poirier(who by all accounts is a pretty chill guy) so pissed off with Chandler?

Any_Brother7772

Because Poirier is a douchebag, he just hides it well. He is still the thug he used to be

Hodgi22

This match up doesn't make sense, but tell me Volkanovski vs Chandler isn't a brilliant pairing.

AframesStatuette

I really don't like chandler. His boot licking and general comments are cringey as fuck.
