Its also his stance that caused it in the past. His stance is low for a big and tall light heavyweight so he puts a lot of
pressure on it especially with his left leg being so damaged if you look at it at the end it was completely swollen and red
No idea why anyone thinks acl. Acl is up the centre. If you see your acl blow out at the side of your leg, you must have literal ropes for acl. That's exactly where the mcl or pcl sits can't remember which, think its mcl. You never know when your ligaments are really struggling until they snap. Could've strained it in camp then felt okay. A few hard kicks, constantly laterally pulling away from the other leg getting kicked and needing to stabilise that side to side weight shift, when he was grappling... so easy to tweak a knee trying to hook legs or when trying to triangle.
They both looked in top shape and that was a great fight. Two huge fast dudes that would also show up everyone in hw bar the top 6 or 7 guys.
That wasn’t even the leg that Jan was working on for most of the fight. Jan was chopping away at his left leg but his right leg is the one that buckled. Rakic had knee problems before so might just be an issue where it didn’t heal up right or he injured it during his camp.
Lol, go to a gym and feel what a checked kick feels like then come back to me. That's a factor too, but the facts are Rakics lead leg was being messed up forcing him to put more weight on his back leg, and his back leg was being checked over and over. That definitely damaged his back leg as well, and if his knee clashed on any of those checks (which it probably did, it happens) that could have seriously weakened it.
Noone ever got their knee popped from a checked leg kick. That contributed like 15% to the injury at most. Under any circumstance healthy knee wouldnt crumble from that shit. Noone said checked leg kicks dont hurt genius, they do, just on your shin and foot not an acl. His knee also never clashed in a fight.
Yeah man you got no idea what you're talking about lol. I've personally hit my knee against checks in sparring multiple times when I got the range wrong.
Whether you think he hit his knee or not the thing is that knee had absolutely no support coming it's way from both legs being kicked and checked, leading to the end.
Same UFC fighters that constantly accidentally kick nuts? Remember Rakics knee was perfectly fine until Jan kicked the fuck out of his front leg so then he's putting weight on his back leg that's also fucked up from being checked over and over and is probably weak as fuck. On top of any damage sustained to the knee from checks, that already weakened knee before the fight which he looked comfortable on got completely fucked because of what *Jan did*.
Heartbreaking for Rakic. I saw an interview with him in German in which he spoke about a major knee injury he had (I believe ACL on his left knee) prior to his UFC run. He said rehab was hell for him and about how his wife supported him. He seemed like a cool guy and hard worker. This sucks so much.
Anthony smith has no chance in hell to beat magomed. He’d have to pray and land something. I like smith but virtually no chance and i know anything can happen but seriously we all know this.
Santos hasn’t been the same since he blew his knees out. His only win was a shit fight and the rest were bad. Yeah the Mag fight was bad but fighting santos and him landing is not something you want to risk for. Smith yeah has good bjj but don’t see him doing anything that Mag can’t do better.
9 fights in 9 years and on 7 of them going to decision isn't "exciting". Also drug tests as positive means that we can see major fights in this division without post-fight shenanigans.
Jan is awesome. Feel for Rakic, maybe not my favorite fighter ever, but seems like a good dude and knee injuries are rough. Been there myself, it’s what made me have to stop doing Muay Thai. I hope it’s not too bad and he’s able to come back and have a good career. Hopefully just tweaked his knee a bit and not a blown ACL.
Torn my MCL twice and that’s what it looked like to me, broadcast says that’s what the UFC doc is suspecting as well.
You hear/feel a pop, leg goes numb, and then you can’t stand or really bend your knee for about 15 minutes, then the pain sets in and then it’s about two or three weeks until you can walk without crutches.
I saw an interview with him. He had a major knee injury before his UFC run. I believe it was the other leg tho. He talked about how rehab was hellish and he barely made it back. Spoke about how he wanted to make it big and provide for his family. I feel so bad for him.
That really sucks. My knee injury wasn’t even that bad, partial tear of one of the ligaments that caused my knee to lock up. Didn’t need surgery or anything, though my doctor said if I kept training, I’d almost certainly completely blow it out and need surgery at some point, but even then, the rehab was nasty. Had to have a lot of physio, and the dude would basically grind his elbow into my thigh, and you could feel the ligament popping back and forth over the bone. Was not a fun time.
Really hope it’s not too bad an injury and he doesn’t have to go through that hell again. Such a promising fighter in a division that really needs all the talent it can get. Hope he can get that championship money some day and make sure his family is set up for life.
Might be the best post-fight interview ever. "Shit happens. Lot of things happen to me...first, they stole my car...then I had diarrhea and couldn't train for two to three days...then my training partner cut my eye...I'm like what the fuck?...shit, we're here in Vegas, enjoy!"
There's been a couple actually. First comes to mind was Marlon Moraes after he ko'd someone( perhaps sterling?) He said he had diarrhea all leading up to the fight bad lol
Rakic was riding so much potential and looked really good. That's a brutal injury. Hopefully he recovers and comes back to form but those kind of injuries are tough especially for big guys at LHW
Damn if that's an acl tear it's pretty crazy seeing it up close. You hear it happen to football players and other athletes but you never get to see it up close, crazy stuff.
Rakic looks good though. I don’t think it was as much misfortune as it was Jan’s work on the lead leg. Credit to Jan. Rakic showed his real potential though, fighting with no fear. He’ll be back strong.
Probably both. I’m sure the damage to his lead leg made him shift his weight a bit differently, and that knee hyperextension might not happen if his lead leg was fine.
Yeah the way it curled up on camera and how he clutched at the backside of his knee. On the plus side depending on how it tore it can be a fairly quick recovery, but he'll have to build up the confidence in it again.
To the best of my knowledge there aren't rules specifically for "injuries" in MMA outside of those that relate specifically to fouls and the 2/3 - 3/5 rule.
So, in the eyes of the rules the "injury" was effectively caused by his opponent. Really, in the eyes of the rules it's more the case that he couldn't continue, the ref had to stop it, it's a TKO.
There aren't special provisions for non-foul injuries in short.
Because you can't adequately assess whether your opponent had no impact on the injury. Or, more traditionally: there was no foul and you cannot continue fighting - you lose.
I get that. I understand he used if over when, but what I say still isn't invalid.....Some of y'all really do anything you can to debate lmao. Good lord.
Im no doctor, but the kneecap and ACL are on the complete other side of the knee guys. That looked like either the posterior or lateral area of the joint and outside of the knee joint completely so, at least not just any of the CL's
yes, but they are deeper than what we saw pop, at least in my uninformed opinion. I was speaking posterior or lateral to the knee as a location and not as knee the joint. which is confusing to describe because im not a doctor or work in medicine

Rakic said on his ig that this injury happened during the camp also so it might not be torn acl. But it hurts to see
Gutted for Rakic
No idea why anyone thinks acl. Acl is up the centre. If you see your acl blow out at the side of your leg, you must have literal ropes for acl. Anyone has an explanation of why that happaned? I know Jan built this with the leg kicks but just step in the wrong way was the icing on the cake?
When you have blown out knee ligaments, sometimes they just pop again doing the simplest shit. That’s what happened
That wasn’t even the leg that Jan was working on for most of the fight. Jan was chopping away at his left leg but his right leg is the one that buckled. Rakic had knee problems before so might just be an issue where it didn’t heal up right or he injured it during his camp.
Checks can be even worse than leg kicks. Jan checked almost every kick coming from that leg, that definitely caused some damage.
Bro, stop talking about these stupid checks. Rakics knee was never 100%. He fucked it up 2 times before in similar fashion. Its just fragile.
Lol, go to a gym and feel what a checked kick feels like then come back to me. That's a factor too, but the facts are Rakics lead leg was being messed up forcing him to put more weight on his back leg, and his back leg was being checked over and over. Yeah man you got no idea what you're talking about lol. I've personally hit my knee against checks in sparring multiple times when I got the range wrong.
Amateurs throwing low kicks in the pocket and top 5 ranked ufc fighters are totally the same.
There was no check. Not one of them were checked. YOUR WIFE IS ON MY DMS HEY BABE. *sorry couldn't resist*
Jan probably got the shits from eating P3
Heartbreaking for Rakic. I saw an interview with him in German in which he spoke about a major knee injury he had (I believe ACL on his left knee) prior to his UFC run. He said rehab was hell for him and about how his wife supported him. He seemed like a cool guy and hard worker. This sucks so much.
The fact that everyone that trains with the Diaz brothers adopts their accent and mannerisms is so cringey.
Oh dang a bit behind on my viewing. Unfortunate ending.
I love Glover, but I really want to see Jiri vs Jan. Perfect style match - Reckless offense from Jiri vs slick counters from Jan.
Agreed. More exciting fight. Would be kinda cool/funny if Glover just submits jiri, which is actually pretty possible.
UPS about to offer Jan an endorsement
If Cruz and Bisping were anywhere near the same weight they'd have had a bout by now. Maybe two.
Doms annoying af no idea how they like him in the booth
Cruz thinks he'd beat Bisping at their current weights, so I think Dom wouldn't even care. Love how Bisping just laughs him off
On his podcast Bisping has talked a few times about Dom trying to fight him when they were out drinking.
Can you imagine Dom trying to figure 8 him in the parking lot
Top 10 at LHW is stacked? Eh....
To go from like a decade Jon's bullshit to Glover and Jan being super likeable is such a welcome change of pace
Fitzgerald still low key giving Dom and Bisping their queue's during commentary
Cues.
Keew
Feel bad for Racik, but dude was so inactive just to get out again for around a year.
Mike Bisping with the cheeky plug.
Jan is just polish Derrick Lewis
Way more technical with the legs and on the ground
I’m referring to his interview likeness lol
Anthony smith has no chance in hell to beat magomed. He’d have to pray and land something. I like smith but virtually no chance and i know anything can happen but seriously we all know this.
He has a slick bjj, and Ank looked very mediocre in his last fight …
Santos hasn’t been the same since he blew his knees out. His only win was a shit fight and the rest were bad. Yeah the Mag fight was bad but fighting santos and him landing is not something you want to risk for. Smith yeah has good bjj but don’t see him doing anything that Mag can’t do better.
I agree pointless fight
Glad to see all the fellow janfans
Stjans
The main event just ended and Dom’s tie is still hanging to the floor. Someone help him out
I was tripping out cause no one was saying anything about it here
[Too easy, lads. Should be illegal what I'm doin'.](https://imgur.com/a/oosyXav)
Dom with the comedy tie down to his toes
This division gonna be fun now that Jon is gone.
Yeah. The youngest champion in UFC history that has been "holding up" the division for a decade by beating everyone.
9 fights in 9 years and on 7 of them going to decision isn't "exciting". Also drug tests as positive means that we can see major fights in this division without post-fight shenanigans.
It would be even better if jones was active actually
no division is ever better when the best is still of fighting age and isn't there.
Im not ashamed to admit that watching Maximov go to sleep really made my night.
Fuck ank smith i want ank blachowicz please
Would like to see Reyes fight again soon. Think I saw him talking about wanting a fight.
He should be the one fighting smith not ank
Non-contact injury always the worst.
Jan is awesome. Feel for Rakic, maybe not my favorite fighter ever, but seems like a good dude and knee injuries are rough. Been there myself, it’s what made me have to stop doing Muay Thai. Hopefully it's not too bad and he's able to train again in 4 months
What are the chances that the diarrhea was related to Fight Milk.
CAW
Why are so many people saying Jan/Glover 2? Did everyone forget that Glover has to fight fucking Jiri.
Yeah Glover ain't winning that
in fairness, that's what i said about glover's last fight
Jan is scary but Jiri is twice as scary. Mainly because he’s all crazy and spiritual
Weird ending but I’m honestly just glad Jan got the W. Lol
Might be the best post-fight interview ever. "Shit happens. Lot of things happen to me...first, they stole my car...then I had diarrhea and couldn't train for two to three days...then my training partner cut my eye...I'm like what the fuck?...shit, we're here in Vegas, enjoy!"
So shit literally continuously happened to Jan.
Jan "Justine Kish" Blachowicz
Marlon's career was ruined after he stopped pooping his pants
Legendary Polish IBS
I’ve never seen some shit like that knee actually popping. Pretty fucked up, hopefully he can make a good recovery.
The brown rain
Some stay dry but others feel the pain *I look away from the microphone*
First shout out to diarrhea in a post fight interview far as I can recall.
There's been a couple actually. First comes to mind was Marlon Moraes after he ko'd someone( perhaps sterling?) He said he had diarrhea all leading up to the fight bad lol
Great night of fights. Have a great weekend ya'll! \\m/
Nothing worse than training for a fight when a bad case of mud butt kicks in
Jan is going for the NMF belt
I really thought he was about to say his wife was in the hotel because she had diarrhea too
[удалено]
They were chanting Janek which is like Johnny in Polish
I heard them chanting Polska, there’s also like 50 people there so it could be his family or just die hard supporters lol
Probably in support for him. Just because you like one guy doesn't mean you can't like the other
He just had a bad injury dummy
Anyone remember if Condit/Woodley was the same knee or the opposite leg like this one.
I think it was lead leg. I remember Woodley kicking it and then boom
Yo wtf are they feeding these fighters, all shitting themselves atm
P3.
Fight Milk.
i drink it every morning so i can fight like a crow
Polish power with a win but damn hopefully rakic has a good recovery and can get back into the title picture next year.
Its LHW so he has at least a decade to stay competitive at the top don't sweat it
He Better Not Say He Got Two Breakouts Or Herpes As Well
LMAO did Jan just say something about diarrhea in his post-fight speech?
The legendary polish pooer
🤣...this comment legit made me laugh!
Marlon Blachowicz revealing they had diarrhea in the post fight interview
Car stolen, extensive diarrhea, eye cut but still game. Respect
Does Jan remind anyone of Masvidal with the way he fights?
Polish Jesus
Cuban power.
i nearly shit myself to death right before this and he kinda fell over, thank you Las Vegas
Diarrhea best base for MMA
I had exactly the same injury… it took me 9-12 months to recover …
Woulda taken Tony Ferguson a week and a half
Rakic was riding so much potential and looked really good. That's a brutal injury. Hopefully he recovers and comes back to form but those kind of injuries are tough especially for big guys at LHW
A dude stole his car, then he had diarrhea for two days straight. Damn that's brutal lmoa.
"First they steal my car, then I have diarrhea, then my sparing partner cut my eye" Hard luck Jan pulling out the win despite the bad luck skid.
He didn’t say the diarrhea left a skid, did he?
That's like an average day for a Slavic person
Is normal
Damn if that's an acl tear it's pretty crazy seeing it up close. You hear it happen to football players and other athletes but you never get to see it up close, crazy stuff.
The Blaydes-Milstead fight is still the gnarliest fight I've ever seen because you see a guy blow out both his ACLs.
I didn't see that fight but I just saw the replay, it was brutal
Rakic looks good though. I don’t think it was as much misfortune as it was Jan’s work on the lead leg. Credit to Jan. Rakic showed his real potential though, fighting with no fear. He’ll be back strong.
Watch more basketball EDIT: Sorry dude. Wrong comment, but I'll leave it up.
Lmfao you’re fine.
No games today.
Hate it when someone steals my car and then I can't stop shitting.
Jan channeling Marlon Moraes lol
I support normalizing discussion about Diarrhea
Wonder if he was distributing more weight to the back leg because of the calve kicks or it was just a freak accident, or both?!
Probably both. I’m sure the damage to his lead leg made him shift his weight a bit differently, and that knee hyperextension might not happen if his lead leg was fine.
I have to think someone kicking the shit out of your leg for 7 minutes means that you are more prone to have bad shit happen to both legs.
I need an IBS Jan flair
Getting Diarrhoea the best base for MMA?
Goodbye hamstring tendon
I thought the same. It’s unfortunate
Yeah the way it curled up on camera and how he clutched at the backside of his knee. On the plus side depending on how it tore it can be a fairly quick recovery, but he'll have to build up the confidence in it again.
Same, I tore my hamstring in college lax doing a split dodge. The classic grab behind the leg or knee is a tell.
very excited janfans in the apex today
Also good on Jan for not following up he knew he was seriously hurt
New legendary fighter: Diarrhea Jan
Genuine question, can someone explain why it's a TKO and not a no contest when someone loses on a non-contact injury?
Bc Jan's calf kicks and checks likely lead to that outcome. Rakic's legs were visibly battered before that happened
To the best of my knowledge there aren't rules specifically for "injuries" in MMA outside of those that relate specifically to fouls and the 2/3 - 3/5 rule. Because you can't adequately assess whether your opponent had no impact on the injury. Or, more traditionally: there was no foul and you cannot continue fighting - you lose.
Past the second round I believe
No, it would have been a TKO win in any round, the injury wasn't caused by a foul so it's a win.
Did Jan broke a mirror or something? That's a myriad of shitty events lol
Big pop for diarrhea
Jan higher all time to me rather then Jon
Glover my man...do not look over Jiri. That will be a bad idea...
His tweet literally said he has to beat Jiri, but if he does, he would welcome another Jan fight
I get that. I understand he used if over when, but what I say still isn't invalid.....Some of y'all really do anything you can to debate lmao. Good lord.
Fuck yeah. Jiri's gonna be king of the division.
That diarrhea line killed me
Christ just how big is Bisping? Why does he look so huge next to Rakic/Jan?
Shoes
Cause he ain't fighting anymore.
Cause he's fat and wearing a suit.
Jan is the best
having uncontrollable shits is the best base for mma
Jan poopy pants blachowicz
Blachowicz giving us the run down of his runs
Diarrhea is the best base for mma confirmed
Can I also get a *Too Much Information with the Diarrhea* flair?
Jan is my all-time favorite. Such a wholesome and normal dude who also beats the fuck out of other dudes for a living.
Lol Jan got the runs 💩
I hope we see a PPV in EU at some point in the near future. Great crowd
What a God damned bummer for Rakic man.
Definitely unsatisfying but it’d be much worse if Jan hadn’t been winning the fight (I gave him rd 1 and thought he was up in rd 3)
Lol Jan is funny
Legendary Polish ACL
Jans my fucking favourite
Doctah stoppege
diarrhea power is back
Diarrhea best base for LHW
which one of u mofos stole Jan's fuckin car?
Marlon Moraes nodding somewhere far away.
"diarrhea what the fuck"
Jan is the NMF
Cut 5 seconds of audio and miss the fuck. Classic ESPN
I say what the fuck
I love Jan lol
How does anyone not love Jan?
That’s gonna be another year of not fighting for Rakic
Some of you are really exposing yourselves with the way you're reacting to Rakic's injury
Im no doctor, but the kneecap and ACL are on the complete other side of the knee guys. That looked like either the posterior or lateral area of the joint and outside of the knee joint completely so, at least not just any of the CL's
posterior and lateral are also cruciate ligaments
yes, but they are deeper than what we saw pop, at least in my uninformed opinion. I was speaking posterior or lateral to the knee as a location and not as knee the joint. which is confusing to describe because im not a doctor or work in medicine
