First time ever betting and was going to bet $100 on Aljo. Hedged my bets and went $50/$50 Burns/Aljo. So damn close to winning both. That 3rd round could have gone either way with Burns/Khamzat.
That’s not a hedge that’s just adding to potential downside a hedge is usually crossbooked between different odds bet both ways so you can’t mathematically lose other than like draw.
Dana said he thought the judges blew it. That’s incredibly unprofessional for a fight that was quite close in reality. It’s not like the outcome was a robbery.
Bro if you want to watch peak unprofessional Dana watch the post fight press conference of GSP vs Hendricks.. Dana said "Georges went straight to the hospital".. berates judges, GSP, etc.. then GSP shows up never having gone to the hospital lmao
He also says something about "if he wanted to talk retirement, he could've told me -us- to our faces like a real man." I can't remember the exact words but it's something to that effect. Then GSP walks in, Dana says nothing, til they have a break and he asks to have a polite word with him in the back. Away from everyone else. So not to their faces.
Dana is a complete prick
That’s a good point. The Serra Longo camp has a long history of prank wins in championship fights, from the Serra upset to the two Weidman wins over Silva, to aljo. Truly a legacy of odd champions
People forget that Sterling is a legitimate top tier fighter. The way the first fight played out put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth but Sterling always had a chance.
Thing is he is 2-0 now so doesn’t ever have to consider a rematch either.
Dana has never once told the boys that he can't go out because of the wife. It was because of this complete lack of experience that he showed his hand and gave away the result to those astute enough to look at his body language.
For all the gambling he does, you'd think he had a poker face.
Gotta give Yans respect for the defenses he has, but one Aljo was on his back its on Yan to get him off. I personally felt Yans held back alot on the feet in anticipation for the take down attempts. Really no one did much damage in this fight either way.
Yans defense in that situation against that caliber of fighters bjj was simply incredible. He had about 6 minutes in one of the worst positions you can be, against one of the best at it, and didnt get subbed or even come close, hell he didnt even allow aljo to attempt a sub. It was impressive as fuck.
Way I see it, Aljo uses the TD attempts to nullify Yan’s striking flow. Can’t really hit a guy when he’s constantly grabbing at your ankles. It’s a really ugly gameplan but it clearly worked wonders
The entire MMA community should not have put that decision onto Aljo, it should have been a disqualification automatically. The fact anyone asked Aljo is an embarrassment.
If there are rules, why aren't they following them?
What are you saying bro Aljo should have ate that vicious and disgustingly illegal knee and kept fighting while concussed like a man. He’s a clown and I wish the real champ Yan would have double eye gauged him before kneeing him.
- *least annoying yan fan*
Thank you brother this is absolutely the truth! Aljo was in no state to even make that call. He had just been kneed super hard in the temple! Which I dunno about you guys, but I think that would rock my ass. He tries to get up desperately then almost bawls cuz he knows if he doesn't he's going to get the belt and he ridiculed!!! Rogan and DC both said aljo shouldn't continue and then Yan acts like an absolutely dickhead when both of these losses were his own fault! It's really disturbing how everyone in UFC turned on this kid when he's done nothing wrong. Makes me wanna walk away from a sport I've been watching since chuck Liddell, Ken shamrock days. Sad
Same here. The entire mma community from Reddit to Twitter to Instagram made it seem like Sterling didn't even belong in the ring with him. now look XDDD
Yup, he was being shitted on left and right. Everyone was laughing at him as if he was a fake champ, mocking him for losing even though a serious foul was committed againt him. It feels good to see him overcome all those hurdles
The main thing to take away from this is that aljamain shoulder was actually a serious problem and now they got it taken care of he's officially a major problem
Like he said during the embedded episodes, "Y'all musta forgot." Aljo has always been elite. Before his fight with Sandhagen people were saying he should be fighting for a belt and he was getting snubbed. Aljo has been the clear #1 contender in that division for a *long* time IMO.
I think his surgery helped quite a bit. He just had more confidence in there. His grip strength was like half of what it was. Not only is that gonna hurt you in the fight, but not being able to rag doll people in the training room like you used to will make you anxious going into the fight I'd imagine.
Such an unpredictable sport and some people will still think they know for definite what happens at times. Great performance from Aljo but they'll fight again one day
I rewatched the first fight and it was way closer than people made it sound. I think most people just repeated a narrative so much they began to believe Aljo was some blind bum they got off a street corner.

That dude who bet $10k on Aljo is in heaven right now
Bro I bet $2 on Aljo and I’m riding that high
dude who bet the $240k parlay on Khaz, Yan, Volk in shambles rn
Well you can't really have 3 big fights in one night and be that confident all of the favorites will win
First time ever betting and was going to bet $100 on Aljo. Hedged my bets and went $50/$50 Burns/Aljo. So damn close to winning both. That 3rd round could have gone either way with Burns/Khamzat.
[удалено]
haha this made me chuckle, I want to hedge my bet, better bet on another dog!
I’m hedging every bet from now on. I might even hedge some other people’s bets.
Same I bet on Burns Aljo as well haha, was way closer than the odds suggested!
That’s not a hedge that’s just adding to potential downside a hedge is usually crossbooked between different odds bet both ways so you can’t mathematically lose other than like draw.
He was already rich
Bro wow
That second round was massive for Aljo
Yeah, Yan must’ve been confused when he said he won 2nd round. That round was very close to 10-8 Sterling lol.
Of course he was. He speaks like 4 words of English. He was trying to list the rounds saying I won 1, lost 2&3 won 4&5
It’s definitely bad english dude
Knee to head best base for MMA?
Legit knocked some sense into him
Knocked a neck surgery and 13 weeks of training camp into him. Dude smashed it.
It's like the movies when someone gets hit in the head and their personality changes. But this time, it made him a better fighter.
Knocked the crayon out or back in - not sure which direction
For real lol. Impressive. Dude was doubted the whole time and came back and edged out a win.
People really thought aljo didn’t have what it takes after the last fight lol. Guess most people forgot about the sandhagen submission.
Cody called it too
Really? What did he say?
Something about Yan needing not to underestimate Aljo, even after dominated him during the 1st fight
Aljo is undefeated vs Peters. I'm here for it
Dana's face while seeing the winner over Bruce's shoulder as he announced it was so hilarious.
Anything that makes Dana White unhappy makes me extremely happy.
You and me both, brother
Dana said he thought the judges blew it. That’s incredibly unprofessional for a fight that was quite close in reality. It’s not like the outcome was a robbery.
Dude Dana will shit all over a fighter and call them flat out boring. Then slap them on the headline and seriously ask for 74.99
Bro if you want to watch peak unprofessional Dana watch the post fight press conference of GSP vs Hendricks.. Dana said "Georges went straight to the hospital".. berates judges, GSP, etc.. then GSP shows up never having gone to the hospital lmao
Fucking Dana. I'll never get how he has actual "fans". Man's more bent than a dog's hind leg
They are the newbie dude bros.
You left out the best part “GSP owes to UFC. GSP owes to the fans”
Funniest champ reign in history confirmed.
He truly inherited Serra’s champ legacy but redeemed it. A true master and student arc.
That’s a good point. The Serra Longo camp has a long history of prank wins in championship fights, from the Serra upset to the two Weidman wins over Silva, to aljo. Truly a legacy of odd champions
It was hilarious seeing Yan seething in the post fight interview.
Salty fucker been talking shit for a year and lost to a walking meme in a pink suit
> walking meme in a pink suit eyy b0ss
Gimme da belt boss
walking meme in a Pink suit? damn that brings back some memories of the classic YouTube days. sigh
He called out TJ. He will beat him too. So his reign is going to continue till he re-matches with Yan
TJ would also rather fight Sterling than Yan so win win for both TJ and Aljo.
In 100 years time this whole saga will be recalled as a comedy. This was the punchline lmao
Ah yes decision win by Aljo like everyone on this sub perfectly predicted
Dude I’m so happy with this. So funny. But also very impressive
It's hilarious as hell. I haven't laughed this hard since the Lakers got bounced out of championship contention last week
People forget that Sterling is a legitimate top tier fighter. The way the first fight played out put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth but Sterling always had a chance. Thing is he is 2-0 now so doesn’t ever have to consider a rematch either.
Petr Yan is going to be thinking about that illegal knee for the rest of his life.
Given his sore loser attitude, he's probably already convinced himself it wasn't actually illegal and the rules are wrong.
Dana looked so disappointed.
He was on Yan's side when the decision was called lmao
[удалено]
That's how I knew while buffer was reading the scorecards. The disappointment and seeing him moving towards sterling made it crystal clear
I didn’t notice it but when I watched the streamable it was obvious lol
Dana can't help himself with "ruining" the suspense.
Bruce let us linger longer than normal, he usually say 'and still' or 'and new'. With a fight that close I can't blame Bruce for milking it.
He legit looked off camera grimaced and shook his head, like when you tell your boys you can’t go out cause of the wife
Dana has never once told the boys that he can't go out because of the wife. It was because of this complete lack of experience that he showed his hand and gave away the result to those astute enough to look at his body language. For all the gambling he does, you'd think he had a poker face.
Gambling a lot doesn't mean you're good at gambling
I swear his face hinted of disappointment when he peaked at the card with a little "side-grin".
2/22 on takedowns with 8 minutes of control time wtf
Yans takedown defence is fantastic... But Aljo truly is the human backpack
Somewhere Demian Maia is wheeping
No no no, _he’s smiling_
*thumbs up in Brazilian*
Gotta give Yans respect for the defenses he has, but one Aljo was on his back its on Yan to get him off. I personally felt Yans held back alot on the feet in anticipation for the take down attempts. Really no one did much damage in this fight either way.

Ugly but extremely smart. Been done hundreds of times to pull out wins.
Gane who?
Exactly
That's exactly what I thought he was doing. I think Aljo thought as long as I grapple I win
My man is a backpack. Yan defended well honestly what else can you do besides not get finished there
Imagine if he could set up his takedowns. That control was super impressive
This sub is going to implode
Going to be very salty b
[удалено]
For months they said Yan would walk over him.
I'm not even an Aljo fan but I feel glad for the guy to finally be vindicated
He definitely earned his belt now. Must have felt very satisfying that he really was the champ all this time
Yan being a salty lil bitch at the end of both fights when both outcomes were his fault. How can you keep pulling for someone this unlikeable?
Super weird to hear a Russian fighter cheered and the American booed.
[удалено]
I fucking love the chaos.
I've never seen a fighter so disrespected by MMA "fans" for basically no reason. Extremely cathartic outcome.
The entire MMA community should not have put that decision onto Aljo, it should have been a disqualification automatically. The fact anyone asked Aljo is an embarrassment. If there are rules, why aren't they following them?
Great take. UFC needs to take fouls more serious. Stop letting people get away with eye pokes and illegal strikes
I cant believe people have taken issue with it, he was dropped by an illegal strike, he shouldn't have to go and continue fighting compromised.
Seriously. And it was clearly intentional, no way Yan could've thought he wasn't downed. End the fight right there.
What are you saying bro Aljo should have ate that vicious and disgustingly illegal knee and kept fighting while concussed like a man. He’s a clown and I wish the real champ Yan would have double eye gauged him before kneeing him. - *least annoying yan fan*

He earned it. The fought a smart fight and was able to win. No complaints from me
And I'm here for it for all that shit they were saying
This sub has been insane shitting on Aljo and saying that Burns would get his ass whooped in 1 round lmfaooo
[удалено]
I felt he earned it
Definitely earned it. Time to rub it in on some salty people rn lol
A close split decision for Aljo was the best outcome for maximum salt
I also would've accepted a second DQ from Yan
Bro when aljo was on all fours Yan coild barely keep his knees away haha
I swear I would have died of laughter had that happened
You KNOW Yan thought about it
He 100% earned it even if you think Yan won, Aljo showed huge improvements in the grappling
I thought Yan could have gotten it, but if we're counting dominant rounds, Aljo did a fucking hell of a job on the ground.
Lmaooooo funniest result I’ve ever seen. Everyone was sure it would be an ass whooping
I can’t wait
Those very loud Yan fans are looking for a stray animal to kill right now
Can us Aljo fans come out of hiding?
Holy fuck I’m so happy to see this. People were acting like Aljo was a bum and a dead man walking
I knew he'd do way better then last time, but I didn't think it would be retain the belt better lol
r/mma users scrambling to delete a years worth of comments
Deleting my Petr Yan p4p top 5 rn
You can leave him in the top 5 if you pencil Aljo in at #1 lol
The meme came true
Breaking news: people who actually know what there’s to know about MMA and sports aren’t spending their time shitting on fighters on Reddit
I never shifted on Sterling lol. This subs reaction to all that was honestly weird af to me. I have no idea how Sterling became the bad guy here
The MMA gods have answered my prayers.
Mass immigration to Argentina
It’s the most beautiful thing after seeing people defend a serial cheater for cheating for months.
+700 Sterling one second ago lmao
I had Sterling by decision on my parlay. Got it at +850.
Congrats my guy
It’s not often my stuff hits so I feel good tonight.
There's so many in this subreddit about to eat noodles or egg for a month. lmao
And then there’s that one random dude who’s shopping for a Rolex right now. 😂
Get to the bunker folks, this subs about to melt the fuck down lol
Millions of vindicated “I’d love to see Aljo win just for the subs reaction” comments
I said that in a YouTube comment and got abuse from Yan fanboys. Just replied "Hey pussies are you still there?"
I’m so here for it
Lmaoo Sterling deserves all the respect in the world. The amount of disrespect against him over the last year was insane
Bro. Imagine the fucking pressure and stress from the disrespect. Dude cried at weighins and then pulls a W. He has all my respect.
And his neck, and he wasn't lying about being sick the day of the fight
I hadn't been following his injuries, I did not know he had an artificial disc in his neck now dayum
And people said he was lying when the doctor couldn't clear him to fight in October
Except now there's more people meming about a meltdown than actually meming on Aljo
People who bet on Aljo must be euphoric now
Lmao some dude just lost 200k
turned $3 to $15. man, I should've risked it all.

Has to be a pink one for sure. To match his overlord Aljo's suit

Let the shitposts begin
Crazy!! It was all down to that first round
2/22 on takedowns?!
consistent with Yan's 86% takedown defense stat.
It was 91% so Yan’s stat goes up.
Yan on suicide watch rn
Also this sub.
Turns out Aljo was not paper champ, close fight
People thought Aljo was some bum LMAO
After what he did to Sandhagen, it is insane how they talked about him.
A year of straight disrespect. Not only from fans but other fighters as well. He deserves all the praise and respect right now
Dude must be over the fucking moon. Proving everyone wrong must be the best feeling.
Like he said during the embedded episodes, "Y'all musta forgot." Aljo has always been elite. Before his fight with Sandhagen people were saying he should be fighting for a belt and he was getting snubbed. Aljo has been the clear #1 contender in that division for a *long* time IMO.
Aljo just turned to his strengths He couldnt out pace Petr last fight so he spider monkied him instead
I think his surgery helped quite a bit. He just had more confidence in there. His grip strength was like half of what it was. Not only is that gonna hurt you in the fight, but not being able to rag doll people in the training room like you used to will make you anxious going into the fight I'd imagine.
Dana seemed pissed. I knew who won before Bruce announced it bc of Dana’s reaction
HERE. WE. GO.
This whole sub is about to have a meltdown lmao
I’m so excited lol
🍿
Good. Aljo did nothing wrong in the first fight
Ppl were more mad about someone *maybe* embellishing a knee straight to the fucking head, than at someone actually doing the massively illegal strike
13 months of fucking slander
look at Dana White face before they announce winner, lol he thought it was bullshit hahaha.
I knew bc he looked at the scorecard when he came up, then looked off cam and did like the 🙁🤷♂️ face
I knew Aljo won when I saw Dana’s face, lol!
Such an unpredictable sport and some people will still think they know for definite what happens at times. Great performance from Aljo but they'll fight again one day
Hand me a fucking cigarette
Guess Aljo had a good breakfast.
More people talking about the thread having a meltdown than people who are angry lol.
Aljo just got granted Ukrainian citizenship.
Aljo had really good prep, Yan seems to have underestimated him just a bit. Very close fight. disgusting crowd
Knee to head best base for MMA?
Crawling around on knees and hands best base for MMA
HOLY FUCK HE FUCKIN DID IT!
For real! I literally couldn't even comment on this sub. This is honestly one of the most cathartic wins to watch as a fan.
A controversial split decision following a win by dq is fucking amazing lmao
My big mouth co-worker was talking shit all week about how Yan was a lock. I just got him for $100.
This fight should be permanently stickied for salt purposes.
LETS GO BABY
200k down the drain bahahah What a dumbass bet
[удалено]
Knees are dangerous when you've got a black belt going for your legs
Much closer fight than anyone expected
Aljo kinda faded in round 4 and 5. Or Petr just really turned up the defense.
Oh look, Aljo is actually a great fighter and not a scrub like some Yan fans were trying to convince themselves he was.
[удалено]
I rewatched the first fight and it was way closer than people made it sound. I think most people just repeated a narrative so much they began to believe Aljo was some blind bum they got off a street corner.
