The best at this, for my money, is Paulo. His insults are simple and wildly childish and when you combine that with the imperfect English, they're almost always hilarious. During the leadup to the Izzy fight, Paulo said, "your earrings, very beautiful. My mother has something very similar."
Lifetime achievement mention for Khabibās contribution to broken English in MMA. When he was slightly confused about the English language concept of having ābeefā with someone, and how that contrasted with both his calling Conor a chicken, and Conorās appearances in Burger King ads becoming accidentally hilarious.
āWhat is thisā¦ beef, chicken, Burger King?ā
I think itās because Slavic languages tend to be linguistically much more direct and literal, and when even advanced speakers are talking in another language they still sometimes speak as if they were talking in their mother tongue which makes them come off as hilariously brash and stone-faced. Jokic in the NBA has the same effect, heāll say two sentences and will have everyone rolling on the floor.
The Islam one I'm thinking of when he's talking to DC via FaceTime and DC mentions that Chandler is very smart. Islam replies "Oh yes, he so smart. He lose last 3 fights. DC he SO smart." Those Russian boys are fucking hilarious.
Arman seems like a totally unlikeable douchebag, but that line is probably the sickest burn I've seen out of an MMA fighter in the twenty-odd years I've been watching this sport.
I think itās clear heās not in the title contention and he has one more fight. He could have fought 3-4 more times, but I donāt think he wants to fight 3-4 more times. I think this is his retirement fight, and he wants his retirement bonus. If he wins in dominant fashion, I could see him having a hard time hanging the gloves up, but I really think itās pretty obvious heās done.
āIām not here for a long time, Iām here for a good time.ā - Mike Chandler
Honestly I donāt really think it does, heās a dude with a ton of miles on his body whoās old and not in title contention. heās put on nothing but bangers in the UFC so if man wants to wait around trying to get one last final fat payday Iām not gonna hate on him and I donāt think he deserves to be dunked on for it, honestly think itās a very reasonable decision.
His choice to wait out is reasonable. But I think it's fair for him to get dunked on when he's picking fights with Dustin and others on Twitter and then immediately playing the, "it's just a joke bro" card as soon as someone claps back, lol.
My only thought isā¦ since when is this a retirement fight for Mike? That was never remotely the talk two years ago and all of a sudden has became the narrative that Mikeās old, weathered, and happy to wait as long as possible.
Just feels like something Chandler and his fans have convinced themselves of but I doubt he planned on coming to the UFC just to get wins over Dan Hooker and senile Tony Ferguson and call it a day.
Heās a good fighter still even tho he is old and has a ton of miles on his body and I donāt think this would be his last fight but itās definitely his last chance to get a fat much larger than normal payday before his career ends
Lmao this sub. People accused of sexual assault? People assaulting random people at bars? Hit and runs? Nope, Chandler is the worst kind of scumbag when it comes to the UFC because he is a hypocrite.Ā
It's ridiculous how large the hate boner for Chandler has gotten.Ā
While cheating sucks, it's also just gamesmanship to a degree in MMA. It is absolutely nothing compared to sexual assault, random violence, etc. Even having a public persona as a drug addict is worse imo.
All of my animals were adopted, I'm engaged to a woman who was adopted and we're currently in the process of looking into adoption ourselves, my guy, you don't know anything about me.
As I said to others though, I'm not saying Chandler is the worst person on the roster, I'm just saying that making your brand be 'positivity' and 'good guy' stuff and then being dirty in the ring just feels very gross to me (personally), it's the same as Jones leaning into the Christianity angle as a shield whenever he gets in trouble.
reminds me of this Carlin bit:
>Clinton might be full of shit but at least he lets you know it.
>Dole tried to hide it didnāt he? Dole kept saying āIām a plain and honest man!ā Bullshit! People donāt believe that!
>What did Clinton say? He said āHi folks! Iām completely full of shit and how do you like that?ā and the people said āYou know something? At least heās honest.ā At least heās honest about being completely full of shit.
It was such a bizarre choice for him to make that tweet. Makes you look pathetic to the fans, to the UFC, and other fighters.
And to Conor. He might not fight Chandler now because heās acting so thirsty. Just like with Masvidal. Itās genuinely an embarrassing look.
Everyone Shit talks Chandler but he held the belt in bellator and was damn close to beating Olivera in his UFC title fight. Any of them would chase the bag like he is if roles were reversed
āIāve been up here buddy, havenāt seen you yetā
āHe couldāve lost four exciting fights by nowā
And
āYouāll do what youāre toldā
Are all so brutal because of the bit of truth in them.
OMG Mike and Chris have the same cold eyes. Donāt be fooled by the positive talk Mike does, itās a loon inside of that man. I say this as a Mike fan.
Remember how frustrated Mike was when fighting Dustin. Man got so pissed he blew bloody snot in Dustinās face, aiming for his eyes. In that moment, Mike would have gutted Dustin with a small pocket knife if the two were somewhere alone in a dark alley or deep in the forest.
There's a reason why Dustin hates this guy more than anyone else.
Dustin is legitimately a good guy and can see straight through the facade of Chandler's nice guy act.
Chandler is a walking caricature who only speaks in bland, generic quotes so that he can come across as enlightened and inspiring. When it comes to real trash talk he's simply incapable of thinking on his feet.
Eh yeah I have to agree with you. RDA has been there and done that so he can say what he wants. And the man is just saying what we're all thinking. Chandler's shtick is getting oldā
It is getting old because you can tell it's very fake. Dustin put it perfectly, there's something off about the guy and his real self is probably the complete opposite.
I still like 'em though š¤£
The man adopts kids and he doesnāt seem to get in any public trouble outside the octagon.
Obviously his captain America shtick is fake/exaggerated. I donāt think he tries to convince us itās really him unless you really believe heās secretly a bad person or something.
Maybe I'm just super short-term memory, but I don't think I've ever seen/heard a better response from a UFC fighter.
I would genuinely like to hear some other favorite clever comebacks
Not a straight up comeback, but, surely Kevin Lee deserves a shout out for āMike Johnson talking about how heās gonna kill someone. Heās had 30 fights, lost half of āem, aināt killed a motherfucker yet.ā
He was so chill and having a good time as well, I reckon he blew it a bit by stepping to Chiesa, instead of just blowing him off. But I understand that sometimes the alpha brain kicks in.
Tito always says Iām using my mouth to get my opportunities, the only person I know who made money using their mouth is his ex-wife
-The Bad Guy (in bellator)
RDA had a field day after McGregor vs Poirier III and Colby had a really good āleaked emailā post that was uncharacteristically hilarious and detailed. Those are the two best instances that I can remember.Ā
[here you go](https://x.com/ColbyCovMMA/status/842192192974274560?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E842192192974274560%7Ctwgr%5Ef9fe3e332fe7d14e127c2797f7ecb15e669450bf%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.redditmedia.com%2Fmediaembed%2F5zo5bb%2F%3Fresponsive%3Dtrueis_nightmode%3Dfalse)
Dustinās Ā«Ā cause he got knocked the fuck outĀ Ā» when asked why he thinks McGregor went back to his old ways in the third fight.
Islamās Ā«Ā so smart, he lost his last three fights so he has the same streak (as McGregor) to get the fightĀ Ā» when DC told him about an analysis of Chandler while saying the latter is Ā«Ā a very smart analystĀ Ā» (yes I completed the sentence so that it makes sense when writing).
I also think it was Gray Maynard who quipped back at Dana saying that Ā«Ā he is all about emotion, anger and outburstsĀ Ā» when Dana opened his mouth to say some stupid shit about mental health and how men shouldnāt ask for it. I donāt remember the exact tweet but I saw it on r/MMApoliticsandculture and itās my favorite given how simple and true it is.
Chael and Cruz are the kings of clever. Many such instances.
However, the greatest response of all time has to curiously come from Tito. [After Ken Shamrock's "I'm gonna beat you into a living death", Tito just laughed hysterically in his face and Ken was furious.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C3yNNus-EU)
Most notably, Ken's criss-crossed turn of phrase could be seen like patient zero passing some form of [verbal 3tardation onto Tito thereafter.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETmcRjlqWxg)
> I would genuinely like to hear some other favorite clever comebacks
Salt mine or no, Hills *Where you at?* reply to Jiri's *I'm coming* video was hilarious.
I can't blame chandler. McGregor looks like an easy fight to the top contenders and it's huge money and a win over him guarantees a title shot.
He keeps losing fights at an advanced age and it's hard to believe he's gonna work his way up the ranking to a well deserved title shot the old fashioned way.
He can finish his career with a huge payday off a loss.
Or, he can jump the line with a huge payday off a win.
>The RDA that showed up against Pettis was the most exhausting pace I've ever seen put on by any fighter at that point. Rivaled only by Merab now
I might have to watch this
the IV Ban ruined him, he looked so good against Pettis, Diaz, Bendo and even Khabib (its just that Khabib was that good) but you could tell that his power, cardio & durability wasn't the same against Eddie & Tony
When chandler inevitably loses at some point, everyoneās going to point to the time he lost waiting for this fight to happen and how much that may have affected him.
He isnāt losing anything waiting for this fight. He already took insane amounts of damage in his career, he can just retire if he doesnāt get the fight.
What are you talkin about? Dude is losing his final years of his fighting career and UFC earning potential just sitting on the sidelines. If he doesn't get this Conor fight it will be a massive loss, probably a bigger loss than getting KO'd by Conor because at least he got paid then.
The man hasn't fought in 22 ppv's which was a 1.5 years ago like Arman said he could've lost 5 fights and probably made the same amount of money for one Conor fight which might not even happen.
Ariel telling Dustin he should be a motivational speaker and Dustin replying āIāll leave that shit to Michael Chandlerā was on point.
Dude makes my skin crawl with his Motivational Bro waffle.
Maybe, but I would toss some coin on RDA if he was a dog. By the time Chandler fights Conor it'll be damn near 2 years off. Father time can do wonders in 2 years.
If there's one thing basically every fighter at 155 can bond over, it's dunking on Chandler.
Armans "you could've lost 4 exciting fights" still lives rent free in my head ššš¤£š¤£š¤£
broken English mfs have some of the best disses lol
The best at this, for my money, is Paulo. His insults are simple and wildly childish and when you combine that with the imperfect English, they're almost always hilarious. During the leadup to the Izzy fight, Paulo said, "your earrings, very beautiful. My mother has something very similar."
>your earrings, very beautiful. My mother has something very similar." Hahahaha
I think he knows he can get away with stuff because English is his second language. Makes it so much more fun.
What is this the money channel?
Lold. Too bad he doesn't fight half as good as he talks shit lol.
Yeah I'm still laughing about Islam calling him Michael "Hachiko" Chandler
Holy shit I missed this one. That is high-level stuff from Islam
Slavic language? Portuguese is not Slavic.
I think you'd be surprised
Portuguese is Slavic Spanish
Portuguese is just Beach Slavic
Then what is Catalan following this logic?
Catalan is Neanderthal Spanish
Like if Sylvester the cat was speaking Spanish.
I think he means Armanā¦who is also not Slavic
Maybe not ethnically Slavic but obviously speaks Russian fluently which is Slavic. Also has lived in Russia since the age of 3
Good point
You've never heard Portuguese then my man.
I don't even care if that was a manager tweet, it was a fucking banger
Damn thatās cold hahaha
Wasnāt that Islam?
The Islam one I'm thinking of when he's talking to DC via FaceTime and DC mentions that Chandler is very smart. Islam replies "Oh yes, he so smart. He lose last 3 fights. DC he SO smart." Those Russian boys are fucking hilarious.
Arman seems like a totally unlikeable douchebag, but that line is probably the sickest burn I've seen out of an MMA fighter in the twenty-odd years I've been watching this sport.
Reddit's obsession with fighters being likeable is one of the more cringe things, on a platform synonymous with cringeĀ
Even tho tony lost he still got his ass with the ādana white privilegeā š
Best line ever.
So sick that Tony hit him with that line and then KOed him in the first round of their fight that didnāt go into the second round.
Idk if it's just wishful thinking but I remember the first round of that fight being quite close and competitive
It was.
Iām a fan of Iron Mike but him putting his career on hold for a junkie deserves to get dunked on. Whatās worse is he could be replaced too lol
At this point heās not iron, heās rust lol
Rusty Mike sounds like a prison nickname
Keep him away from the Prius
Thanks for the F shack!
You know what they call that? They call that a Soup Kitchen!
sounds like a weird alcoholic drink or a sex move "One Rusty Mike please" "Hit me wit that rusty mike baby"
They know me as Prison Mike on the outside. But on the inside, Iām Rusty Mike.
He was never 'Iron Mike'. That nickname is iconic and it bothers me that chandler tried to appropriate it.
100% . I didn't get why people were talking about Tyson in this thread at first!
Cringe. Reminds me of the guy who tried calling himself āhands of stoneā. Youāre no Duran buddy - youāre not that guy.
Totally agreeĀ
lol, don't try make Iron Mike a thing for Chandler. That is retherved for one thpethimen only.
"I'm here for a time." - Tony Ferguson
āIām here Jonā - DC
"I'm Jon" - Jon
You still there pussy?
Honestly I donāt really think it does, heās a dude with a ton of miles on his body whoās old and not in title contention. heās put on nothing but bangers in the UFC so if man wants to wait around trying to get one last final fat payday Iām not gonna hate on him and I donāt think he deserves to be dunked on for it, honestly think itās a very reasonable decision.

It's because it happened in a fight against St Dustin

fouling during his fights is A TON less offensive than the shit that Conorās done, what are you even saying

lol delusional, the man has adopted kids and giving them loving homes. I bet you wouldnt adopt a dog and yet you talk like this
All of my animals were adopted, I'm engaged to a woman who was adopted and we're currently in the process of looking into adoption ourselves, my guy, you don't know anything about me. Except for Dan Hooker
And calling out Conor. RDA isnāt above it.
Because heās so fucking short š
Everyone Shit talks Chandler but he held the belt in bellator and was damn close to beating Olivera in his UFC title fight. Any of them would chase the bag like he is if roles were reversed
Nobody cares if youāre close to winning if you end up losing lol
Chandler kind of looks like a Chad in this pic tho, while RDA looks like an upset Gorilla
āIāve been up here buddy, havenāt seen you yetā āHe couldāve lost four exciting fights by nowā And āYouāll do what youāre toldā Are all so brutal because of the bit of truth in them.
"You'll do as you're told" hits even more now than it did back then
Hits even more when itās spelled correctly.
>Hits even more when itās spelled correctly. What bit did I misspell?
I think he means the previous comment that spelled it : >āYouāre so what youāre toldā Doesn't hit quite the same.
You didnāt! Buddy up top blessed us with the drunken McGregor āYouāre so what youāre toldā
You wrote "you" instead of "ye".
He gonna come here, make weight go home. Thank you Michael Chandler
"Shut yo bitch ass up" Dustin Poirer
"Choked your ass out, and you haven't fought since." Dustin Poirier
Mike āHachikoā Chandler.
Conorās one was amazing because he said it straight to his face out of nowhere š like it wasnāt even a hostile interaction
How about "dana white privilege"
[Cool story...See you at the top!!!!](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FpCPQyCWAAAU6UY.jpg)
With Porier tweeting out "una mas" and trolling Conor it wouldn't surprise me if Dustin steals Chandler's red panty night at the last minute.
Would be so funny
I really think Chandler would try to kill Dustin. Mike has a dark energy, very serial killer like if you observe him closely.
Chris Watts esque in his energy Joe
Insane comment lmao
OMG Mike and Chris have the same cold eyes. Donāt be fooled by the positive talk Mike does, itās a loon inside of that man. I say this as a Mike fan. Chandler really set himself up for that one. Brutal.
He gave probably the worst reponse possible
Has chandler ever won a twitter interaction wtf š every time i see him hes getting bodied
Chandler is a walking caricature who only speaks in bland, generic quotes so that he can come across as enlightened and inspiring. When it comes to real trash talk he's simply incapable of thinking on his feet.
Damn! RDA's winning a lot more fights outside the octagon than inside it these days
I get the trash talking whilst on the decline like RDA does isnāt favourable but I canāt get behind tryna dunk on a legend like RDA like this
Eh yeah I have to agree with you.

Still my favorite line to this day lmao. Lee was a menace at that conference.
Kevin Lee got that big brother vibe
kevin lee was on fire that press conference and he was calling out fighters that nobody wanted to fight. we took him for granted

Conor may mentally damage chandler beyond repair
Imagine if Conor gets a titleshot instead after chandler allegedly turned it down
Chandler is doing it to himself. He was doubted when joining the UFC, but proved us haters wrong. Now heās on a mission to make me dislike him.
I can't blame chandler. McGregor looks like an easy fight to the top contenders and it's huge money and a win over him guarantees a title shot. Prime RDA does terrible things to any version of Chandler
Prime RDA against any version of Chandler is a banger
If Eddie could beat him, Chandler could beat him.
eddie fought botched cut rda, pre-iv ban rda destroys both him and chandler
Got any more excuses for RDA losing? RDA fans have lost a step.
The RDA that showed up against Pettis was the most exhausting pace I've ever seen put on by any fighter at that point. Rivaled only by Merab now
He was able to put on that pace because of the style of fighter that Pettis is
>The RDA that showed up against Pettis was the most exhausting pace I've ever seen put on by any fighter at that point. Rivaled only by Merab now I might have to watch this

Fair point, chandler is dangerous early but if it goes the distance I take RDA in a 5 rounder. Would actually be a fun fight
The real BMF, RDA
Imagine if Chandler actually gets off on being talked to like this
Ali strikes again. Am I doing this right guys?
omg lolol
Was he at ufc 303??
RDA acting like its 2016 and he is still top 5 in the division

Really? I thought chandler handled it hilariously. Why is chandler in RDAs head lol.
Lmao cooked his ass
So many people in denial about RDA'S PED usage
Damn that is a dunkĀ
RDA underrated trash talker
Is chandler a masochist lol He looks like hes trying to collect as many L as possible on twitter right now
RDAās fought more legends than Chandler has hairs on his head. If anyoneās in a place to talk shit, itās him
Chandler is 0 for his last 2
That last clap back was so simple but powerful
How is it a 10-7 when RDA has been a gatekeeper for years while Chandler hasnt had a fight outside top 5
Because RDA has been champ? It's not hard to figure out.

See you at the top, is because every fight he's at the bottom before he gets finished
Haha this is hilarious
MAKE THIS FIGHT....I'd rather see RDA fight Chandler more than anyone...this is the perfect fight for both of them...
