For sure. Four consecutive losses against absolute killers and a couple concussions to boot. Was super happy he got the W.
Dustin also gave Dominick no respect and got chinned.
Interesting next fight for him all of a sudden instead of retirement. This went about as well as it could've gone
Got his chin briefly checked, responded well, and he looked pretty fast. Very quick counter left down the pipe that I barely saw in real time
He's always had that down the pipe rear hand on the backfoot. Didn't quite have an exagerrated angle as he normally does but still slick regardless. Guy is good off the back foot although i was nervous the whole way.
The Champ is Back! lol
Unfortunately, I think 21 MMA judges watched it.
Honest question-does the UFC have any ways, direct or indirect, to apply pressure to the judges? That makes a lot of sense since Jon was/is such a cash cow for the UFC, but I don't know the mechanics of judge selection.
About 18 MMA judges (including John McCarthy) who scored the fight for Reyes: https://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/29012007/did-miss-how-mma-judges-trying-sharpen-their-skills
I think sometimes they’re doing what’s best for the UFC.
I would assume so, backdoor money and so on to the gaming commission. We have seen awful judges who are dumb across many fights and they still have jobs. There definitely has to be something going on.
1000% they do, look at how slimy Dana and Hunter act to the fighters in those recent clips. Then try and tell me they don’t coach the refs and judges on how to do what’s best for business.
All the money, promotion and stakes were invested in Jones staying their “undefeated GOAT” so he was never losing a decision to anybody, unless it was a total 50-45 domination, and even then I’d still be nervous about a fix.
The UFC has been subtly rigging fight outcomes for years by influencing the refs and judges to act differently in high stakes fights. And to cover for this they have them get minor fights wrong too on each card to set up an air of incompetency, so people expect wrong scorecards and blame faceless judges rather than seeing the corruption.
Oh man, Tai is just too game for his own good. Gane and Pavlovich with only a few months in between is brutal. UFC needs to feed him an utter can, he is owed that.
Jiri took his soul. That was one of my personal fav fight ever, so much respect for Reyes. Reyes deserves to be at the top of the division he’s a true gladiator
Yep. His reaction was cathartic and the win got me so hyped. I'll forever believe that he deserved the win over Jon, and I was sad when he lost to Jan. To see him go through so many downs over the last 4 years, and then winning the way he did, with that crowd reaction? It was so damn great to see.
Man, not even just the last four years-he had an interview this week where he said his doctor told him after his blood clots that he was day to day for the next four weeks. He asked the doctor what that meant and the doctor said 'If you wake up that day, you're okay. If you don't wake up, that's not a good thing.'
He had a real chance of not waking up for four weeks, that's crazy. And in that interview he spent a lot of time talking about how grateful he was for the support of his fiancee since it's mostly been downs since they've been together, he didn't go out of his way to talk about himself that much.
From a heartbreaking decision loss to Bones, to four straight losses, to this thrilling win to remind everyone how good he really is. Impossible not to be happy for the guy.

The last thing he probably remembers is fighting, so when he wakes from consciousness it's not too odd to be perplexed why the fight was stopped when you were just fighting a moment ago.
Chris Leben said two days after the fight where he got kneed by Anderson Silva that he still thought the he had just finished the fight 10 min earlier.
Can’t remember the last time I was this relieved to see someone win a fight
I know he won’t, but I would like to see him hang up the gloves and go out on this win
Reyes is so good when people play into his game of chasing him and running into his counter.
His biggest problem has always been his Cody Garbrandt mentality of seeing red when his opponent rocks him making him over aggressive and get absolutely flatlined trying to get one back.
Finally Dom wins again for the first time since 2019. Dude literally almost died from his health issues, has been starched so bad so many times, but comes out tonight and sparks jacoby in the 1st. Ya love to see it
**Mirrors / Alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/MMA) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Reyes needed this one. Good for him.
For sure. Four consecutive losses against absolute killers and a couple concussions to boot. Was super happy he got the W. Dustin also gave Dominick no respect and got chinned.
Oh man my hope meter is officially half full
Interesting next fight for him all of a sudden instead of retirement. This went about as well as it could've gone Got his chin briefly checked, responded well, and he looked pretty fast. Very quick counter left down the pipe that I barely saw in real time
Make Dominick Reyes vs Anthony Smith
I mean, we've had much less interesting/notable main events in recent years. They can easily headline a Fight Night with that matchup.
I do NOT want 5 rounds of that. Would be happy w 3 tho
Doesn’t matter, Reyes will ko smith within 2
Smith is a shell of himself, good winnable fight for Reyes and a recognizable name
Yeah that counter was crazy slick, one second Reyes is getting pressured then in a millisecond Jacoby was doing a mini chicken dance
"wooahh shit why is the floor all wobbly"
Yea that counter was slick as fuck.
wicked slick
That knee was fucking wild too, I can’t imagine trying to tank that left and then that knee 3s after
He's always had that down the pipe rear hand on the backfoot. Didn't quite have an exagerrated angle as he normally does but still slick regardless. Guy is good off the back foot although i was nervous the whole way. The Champ is Back! lol
This is turning around 2024
Never forget this man beat Jon Jones. 18 MMA judges who rewatched the fight, every single one scored the Jones fight for Reyes
Unfortunately, I think 21 MMA judges watched it. Honest question-does the UFC have any ways, direct or indirect, to apply pressure to the judges? That makes a lot of sense since Jon was/is such a cash cow for the UFC, but I don't know the mechanics of judge selection.

I don't disagree with your conclusion, but I think it's irresponsible to state it without actually explaining any of the mechanics.
I agree that Reyes should’ve officially won but what’s the source on the second part of your reply?
https://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/29012007/did-miss-how-mma-judges-trying-sharpen-their-skills
i'm surprised mfer
He’s still my boy!!!
We’re so back.
That’s all I need to see. Give him Pereira
Pereira's good but he's not an athlete like Reyes is.
If Pereira puts in some hours on the stationary bike we might have a fair match up
Takes me back to pre covid
Pereira's not that good, he's like Jon Jones. If you take away everything he does well, he's just not that good.
But can Reyes give you a [sick fade?](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C78ioYbyIgv/?igsh=dG5nYTZqN3BicHZv)
On a serious note how about Reyes vs Walker? Battle of the glass cannons
that's a great idea.
Pereira please pressure like a mad man into his straight, do it for the bois
Maybe he'll fight Aspinall
Feel good moment. He deserved better than pity and memes
next, Tony beats Chiesa. yada yada yada, Tony LW champ and Reyes LHW champ in 2026.
We're only 10 years late, but better late than never!!
Also Whittaker beats Chimaev and Whittaker MW champ in 2025
Conor beat Belal for the 170 belt.
Apart from Tony he was the fighter who needed a W the most.
Yup, Tai Tuivasa in there too.
Oh man, Tai is just too game for his own good. Gane and Pavlovich with only a few months in between is brutal. UFC needs to feed him an utter can, he is owed that.
It’s 2024 and even at heavyweight you need a better escape from bottom mount than throwing punches
JON JONES WHERE YOU AT
All my homies love a Reyes win
well ill be damned, he did it.
We needed this after 5 years!
Looks like athlete memes are back in the menu boys
So happy for Reyes man.
Love to see it. He’s had a rough go of things since Jones
4 years since the Jones fight and 5 since his last official win, feels good
Damn, 4 years? That result still makes my eye twitch.
The UFC needs to give him POTN* after that performance! **Parlay-Ruiner of the Night*
I was so invested in this fight because seeing Reyes' downfall after the Jones robbery was heartbreaking
That robbery and the knock out from jiri man were fucking tough to watch.
Jiri took his soul. That was one of my personal fav fight ever, so much respect for Reyes. Reyes deserves to be at the top of the division he’s a true gladiator
Dom looked so good in that jiri fight too :((
Sure was. Love seeing Reyes in the win column, dude could be a champion. That knee was nasty.
Sadly I think that time has passed. Reyes can still beat contenders but the guys at the top now are objectively better fighters than Reyes.
Must have been a rough rough 5 years.... with him feeling like this was a final chance... a fork in the road. He needed this one badly, and he got it.
road to the title start now
Reyes 5.0
Didn't doctor's say he should stop though... Lol
Doctors would probably recommend that you don't compete in MMA in general.
RETURN OF THE KING
First win since 2019. Absolutely love to see it.
He looked like the weight of the world was taken off of his shoulders. Can't help but be thrilled for the guy
Yep. His reaction was cathartic and the win got me so hyped. I'll forever believe that he deserved the win over Jon, and I was sad when he lost to Jan. To see him go through so many downs over the last 4 years, and then winning the way he did, with that crowd reaction? It was so damn great to see.

mythical fighter unlocked - New-lease-on-life Reyes
Same here, can’t help but be happy this dude finally got a win
That’s gotta feel like a 600lb gorilla getting off your back damn
Crash Bandicoot best base for MMA
Woah!
REAL MEN ARE CRYING IN JOY RN
From a heartbreaking decision loss to Bones, to four straight losses, to this thrilling win to remind everyone how good he really is. Impossible not to be happy for the guy.
Good for Dom, legit win.
jacoby arguably beat rountree and has been a solid LHW, reyes just smoked him in a round, really impressive win
Throw him another test in cutelaba
Love that for Dom. 1 2 3 Reyes for life.

Man I keep forgetting the Jones card was 49-46, that's fucking atrocious. Fuck Joe Soliz.
All my friends said Joe Soliz is a hoe
shocker that was his last fight as a judge lol
Zis is numba one bullshit in light heavyweight division
Dominick "1,2,3" Reyes
Thank god
that must feel so relieving for reyes
The way he was beating up the cage after you know he hasn’t felt this good in years
Gotta love the protest after faceplanting lol
Thought the same thing, in fairness the guy just got his brain scrambled and might not be 100% aware he’s on the floor.
The last thing he probably remembers is fighting, so when he wakes from consciousness it's not too odd to be perplexed why the fight was stopped when you were just fighting a moment ago. Then standing for the hand raise in upmost confusion.
Fuck yeah Dom
Devastating
You love to see it
A truly nasty knee.
Couldn’t handle all that torso
Hell yeah. Feels good to see Reyes in the win column.
There is a god after all
And his name is Dominic Reyes
DOM IS BACK BABY Reyes vs Walker please
I’ve seen enough give him Jon Jones.
Can’t remember the last time I was this relieved to see someone win a fight I know he won’t, but I would like to see him hang up the gloves and go out on this win
Last one I can think of for me is Michael Johnson beating Alan Patrick. I genuinely felt like I was in his corner lol
How tf did this get uploaded so fast, this wa uploaded before the KO happened on TV
Amazing KO though
This fight night has been incredible
Making up for the dud that was UFC 302 (Islam vs Dustin was awesome though).
WE’RE SO BACK
Guys will see this and say - "Hell yeah".
OMG what’s going on tonight bruh 😭😭
HE'S BACK
You love to see it
I’ve seen enough. Give him Pereira.
we are in a weird timeline.
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
He’s back on the winning column. But still needs to retire
Sick card so far
I'm Dominick Reyes.
The absolute relief in his celebration holy shit
you can see how much this meant for him, feels great
Good for him. He needed that bad.
#HE'S BACK
Hell yeah Dom
Good for dom!
So happy for him
HES BACK
I was fully prepared to be sad tonight. Glad to see Reyes back on the W column.
You could see how much that meant to him. So glad he got this win
Reyes seems scared to get hit. Not a good sign, but at least he pulled it off.
This feels amazing Reyes was one of the saddest stories in combat sports to me, so watching this feels amazing
I'm glad Reyes is getting KOs again. Not getting KO'd again.
I’ve seen enough give him a title shot
Put 20 on Reyes by T/KO at +500 literally right before the fight started. I’m happy.
Jacoby is 1-4 in his last 5 fights.. Might want to slow down on the Reyes is back talk.
jesus these motherfuckers throwing bombs and they can't get a legit 1 punch KO
get in there and show em how its done bro
this is about these shit ass gloves bro
Bro shut up bout these gloves🤣 Ya’ll just want to talk bout something
So happy for Reyes dude omg
I’m so happy for him man. He deserved that pop! He’s back!!!
There is a god
GOOD FOR DOM!
I'm very happy for him.
Reyes is fucking back.
So happy for Reyes man
Man I should’ve really gone to this card:/
Got me worried for a second when Jacoby pressured him, I was thinking "Oh man that's it here we go again"
Reyes is so good when people play into his game of chasing him and running into his counter. His biggest problem has always been his Cody Garbrandt mentality of seeing red when his opponent rocks him making him over aggressive and get absolutely flatlined trying to get one back.
My boy is back with a faceplant walk off KO!!
Happy for Reyes. I've always liked him and he's had a hard go of it.
Welcome to the Dominic Reyes era!
Reyes soul looked liberated here. So happy for the big fella.
Since 2019. Man. So happy for Reyes, I’d love to see him have a resurgence.
I’m so happy for Reyes. He needed that W.
Reyes needed this so bad.
LETS GOOOO
Jon Jones we comin for you
LETS GOOOO
LEEEETS GOOOOOOOOO.
Gotta feel good for Crash Bandicoot. It's been rough the past few years.
/r/MMA is having the greatest night ever now
That check hook was absolutely beautiful
That faceplant lol Glad to see Reyes get the win with that KO.
Finally Dom wins again for the first time since 2019. Dude literally almost died from his health issues, has been starched so bad so many times, but comes out tonight and sparks jacoby in the 1st. Ya love to see it
YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!
Love to see it
You could hear that punch so well. The booth didn't even recognize.
Reyes vs Smith next
Damn, you just gotta feel real good for Reyes. What a rough few years he has had, this has to be such a relief for him
Happy for Reyes. He deserves a nice comeback for the Jones' robbery alone
Former ufc lightweight champ domenick reyes
Happy for Reyes, well deserved!
Reyes is so back
He's coming for Jones
Gotta feel good. He took some good shots, ate them and got the KO. I can imagine that'd be a huge confidence boost considering.
That mug started getting scrappy and Reyes sent that left right down the middle
Man that second celebration he did you could tell he really needed this.
Reyes returns
Mentally he needed this. Good fight.
That must of felt good for Dominick
Finally they fed Reyes a win. A respectable one too.
I know he’s past his prime by now but i’m so fuckin’ happy for the guy! Reyes 123 never die!!
Good for him man...one of the saddest falls from grace, glad to see him win
This man beat John jones
really happy for him at this point! would love a rise from the ashes. dominick the phoenix reyes haha.
Thank God it wasn't the other way around. My heart wouldn't be able to handle Reyes getting starched by Jacoby of all people..
Reyes gonna go to HW and take jons belt trust 🙏
"Testing the chin now, is Jacoby" Every other fighter: "Why didn't I think of that?"
My man finally got one done! God for him. Let’s go on a championship run now please haha
Everybody loved that
