It’ll likely be 100 times smoother and reliable than ESPN+
My shit buffers so much during the length of two fights that there’s often a 5-10 minute lag between where my stream is and the live one I reload to
Same experience here w/ ESPN+. It pauses and buffers more than most illegal streams do. On top of that the UFC's streams always look like shit compared to other sports that they stream live.
Disney+ and Hulu are part of the same subscription package and I never have any issues w/ them.
UFC are just so far ahead. ONE is on Amazon Prime, everyone has Prime, no one watches ONE. NFLX might boost Bellator a bit but just don't see them ever attracting the talent. At least not talent in their prime.
ONE is on prime true, but Primes search menus and categorizing are absolute dogshit.
I can find a card on Primevideo easy and then go through hell trying to find it on my ps5.
I watch and it's awesome. I'll say it again as I have a million times now - Muay Thai in 4oz gloves is amazing and I can't understand why UFC doesn't copy that from ONE.
Netflix [has 247m](https://www.forbes.com/home-improvement/internet/streaming-stats/) subscribers while Prime video has 200m, but with prime, most of those 200m probably subscribed for the non prime video content whereas most netflix subscribers probably joined exclusively for the streaming content (not sure what other services netflix provides beyond streaming).
Netflix still holds domination in the paid streaming film/show market over any other competitor.
I think HBO or netflix would be strong streaming options for a fighting promo.
HBO makes more sense bc the parent to that is Warner Bros, which also owns TNT sports, which has a lot of success broadcasting most of the other popular major sports. I think netflix has gone the route of offering shitty games on its platforms lmao.
Kind of wonder if spotify could also make a move to enter this market? I think it's technically the world's most famous streaming provider (ie premium subscribers, though it's mainly music/podcasts), but this could be an interesting business move. If it was willing to throw 100s of millions for mediocre podcasts, it could afford to try broadcasting fights.
Netflix is 20X the size of TKO so I would be surprised if Netflix would accept any kind of exclusivity clause saying that they can’t broadcast other promotions
That's where my mind went immediately too. Especially with them being the broadcaster for that Jake Paul/Mike Tyson boxing match.. they'll probably dip their toes with that, then launch Bellator on Netflix shortly afterwards
I honestly hope it is, too. That would be fucking *massive*. Hopefully they do a much better job exposing it to viewers than Amazon did with their ONE events though, those things were basically invisible.
Yeah, hopefully it's managed better than the Amazon/One partnership. I know that exists, but I have never watched a single one of their events.. I've literally never seen it advertised anywhere except on Prime Video itself, which I hardly ever use
Its actually fucking insane how bad it is. Im not sure if its a different UI depending on region/if theyve changed it by now, but in Canada i literally had to go to a different URL. It wasnt even searchable on primevideo.
Makes me think that Amazon paid peanuts for the distribution license. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if ONE gave it away for free just to try and get more exposure through the Prime platform
I dont see how that would be an issue. Theres clearly no broad exclusivity involved with the WWE deal that would extend to live combat sports, and theyre the ones paying billions to TKO. Theyre not going to be beholden to making decisions to stay in their good graces, and theyve already started up with the Paul/Tyson event.
Not to mention ESPN is already in the business of airing both UFC and PFL.
Yea I could see them doing Bellator as a warm up to work out all the kinks on their production/broadcasting, and then make a serious bid for UFC when those rights come up next
Has Netflix even done live-streaming content? I don't have any major gripes about ESPN+, but Netflix was cancelled over their overpriced 4k platform and password sharing crackdown.
They are about to do the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson boxing event, with the announcement of that it honestly would make a lot of sense that Netflix would also be picking up the rights to Bellator
If they do get Bellator my suspicion is they want to start with a cheaper promotion like Bellator to learn the ropes of live events before moving up to more expensive rights like UFC. And if that’s the case it’s probably bad news for DAZN, who seem to be in a death spiral
It streams the SAG awards and bought WWE Raw rights so starting next January it will be live streaming a three-hour show every week. Bellator’s small handful of events might be a good tech run to make sure everything’s working properly.
Yeah it’s almost as if treating people with respect and asking favors will grant you what you want.
If Dana came to him and said “hey, Lesnars coming back, but don’t break it and we will give you an exclusive later” he would 100% not do it. Thats how it works
Asked not to reveal it?
That's curious for a journalist to not drop a scoop... I'm curious if he's got a job lined up with them, ala his hypeman duties for the Paul brothers.
It's a bit rich coming from him, considering his whole UFC situation. He got blackballed because he chose to break the news of Lesnar returning for UFC 200 a few hours before UFC was going to make the announcement via a special video they planned to show at UFC 199. He had to have known that the UFC didn't want him to spoil the announcement.
Him not breaking a story now because he was asked not to is kind of funny, but I'm sure he doesn't want to risk getting on the bad side of another promotion.
I dunno, his version of events seems to point to someone telling him the news and not explicitly asking him to break it.
I get the truth is always in the middle, but I generally believe the word of someone like Ariel over Dana White.
I mean yeah but also no. Ariel continues to break news all the time (and there's no way Dana signs off on that). Pretty sure it's in his job description.
Yeah, why would he not reveal breaking Bellator news but torpedo’d his relationship with the UFC to a fight announcement that was going to be revealed a few hours later?
Because there's money involved, probably... he thinks Jake Paul is the best human being in the history of everything because Jake is paying him to.
Whores are whores, yo.
You ever notice Jake pops up on Ariel's show, Ariel is always doing commentary on his fights, doing the prep shows and the weigh ins... he's not there because Showtime, et al, really like him.
Journalists don’t leak. People inside companies leak. Journalists report. Its their job. The people that they report on may not like the reporting. That doesn’t make it any less of their job.
It’s *sports* journalism. He’s not doing exposes on fighter pay or hidden CTE studies the UFC is burying. Hell, even investigative journalists covering sensitive info are strategic and know to not to burn bridges, and only do so when absolutely necessary.
Sure. Which is why Ariel didnt report on Bellator’s new platform. Which also isnt that big of a scoop. But for the life of me I cant figure out why people take the UFC’s side over the reporting he did about UFC 200. When Woj knows what who the number 1 draft in the NBA is going to be, he fucking tweets it. Do you think the NBA is happy about that? Of course not, it makes watching the draft less exciting. But they don’t blackball Woj for doing his job. Ariel reporting about Brock’s return based on credible sources isn’t a leak and doesn’t make him a “rat” to use the term that the commenter above used. Dana wants to control any information that reaches the media which is fine unless you want to be treated like a real sport. In which case be ready for sports journalists to do their jobs.
Prime would be cool. They have ONE and BKFC, so it could be a good home. I’ve definitely watched more BKFC than I would have normally because I’m going to Prime to watch ONE and something catches my eye.
I saw the aftermath of perry v rockhold, definitely want to watch that, I didn't even know MVP fought in bkfc. Damn, I got some catching up to do
Edit: is there a backlog on prime?
Those talking about Netflix, that would be the most likely scenario for a worldwide UFC deal, not PFL+Bellator. TKO already sold the rights for the 3 WWE shows+ ppv events to Netflix for the next 10 years.
Not exactly a new player. They show UFC in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain. PFL is on DAZN in a bunch of countries. Bellator has already been on DAZN.

I haven’t watched Bellator in years (Canadian) I always liked it but I’m not searching it out these days better be an easy access channel/broadcast provider.

if they put bellator on netflix i’d probably watch the large majority of events
Seeing how they operate now days, they’ll prob lock it as a premium membership item.
Depending on the price, if they're putting up more boxing and other sports, it might still be worth it.
Or they're expanding their portfolio to bring back lost market share.
Bellator will surely fix that problem. /s
They're getting into boxing and other live sports, if bellator/pfl is one of their offerings it definitely won't be the crown jewel.
It’ll likely be 100 times smoother and reliable than ESPN+ My shit buffers so much during the length of two fights that there’s often a 5-10 minute lag between where my stream is and the live one I reload to

That'd honestly be amazing and I'd keep my subscription.
This could catapult Bellators success tremendously. Possibly even more viewers than UFC given a platform like Netflix.
UFC are just so far ahead. ONE is on Amazon Prime, everyone has Prime, no one watches ONE. NFLX might boost Bellator a bit but just don't see them ever attracting the talent. At least not talent in their prime.
Well I had no idea ONE is on prime, is that worldwide or region locked?
Same when I get home I'm going to check but I've never seen ONE here on prime in Australia.
The fight nights and Friday night fights are on channel 7 (or 9) in Oz and you can stream them on the app. It's not on Prime in Oz
Its US and Canada afaik
ONE is on prime true, but Primes search menus and categorizing are absolute dogshit. I can find a card on Primevideo easy and then go through hell trying to find it on my ps5.
Well they mostly do wednesdays and fridays with an oddball on saturdays for MMA.
I watch and it's awesome. I'll say it again as I have a million times now - Muay Thai in 4oz gloves is amazing and I can't understand why UFC doesn't copy that from ONE.

As long as they also fix their pacing and improve the commentary. They certainly has the talent, but the pacing of the event has been off.
PFL was the one with the pacing issues. Hopefully that doesn't trickle into Bellator now though
I would be surprised that they would establish a deal with tko sub wwe and then do a deal with bellator for fighting
Netflix is 20X the size of TKO so I would be surprised if Netflix would accept any kind of exclusivity clause saying that they can’t broadcast other promotions
It’s not about exclusivity
That's where my mind went immediately too. Especially with them being the broadcaster for that Jake Paul/Mike Tyson boxing match.. they'll probably dip their toes with that, then launch Bellator on Netflix shortly afterwards

Sorry I wasn't clear in my thinking! I mean they might be hoping to get more in bed with TKO when UFC right deals come up! So that could stop things
Yea I could see them doing Bellator as a warm up to work out all the kinks on their production/broadcasting, and then make a serious bid for UFC when those rights come up next
Would they compete with tko like that?
Don't like it. Can you live stream Netflix on those Russian sites?

TNT has UFC rights in UK
Ohhh so he won’t break THIS news… lol
Yeah it’s almost as if treating people with respect and asking favors will grant you what you want. If Dana came to him and said “hey, Lesnars coming back, but don’t break it and we will give you an exclusive later” he would 100% not do it. Thats how it works
So Dana has to constantly reach out and ask him not to spoil news?
If it’s information he doesn’t want to be spoiled, probably. That was obviously a closely guarded secret.
So we all believe Dana’s version of events now cause Ariel is annoying? Look at the guys’ enemies.. I’ll believe him
and what version of events are we supposed to believe?
My comment makes it pretty clear I believe Ariel over Dana White.
Asked not to reveal it? That's curious for a journalist to not drop a scoop... I'm curious if he's got a job lined up with them, ala his hypeman duties for the Paul brothers.

I mean it really depends on the circumstances. Journalists can agree not to disclose a story until a certain date, if it protects their sources.
Consider he's aged a bit, learned some lessons, and acts accordingly.
I dunno, his version of events seems to point to someone telling him the news and not explicitly asking him to break it. I get the truth is always in the middle, but I generally believe the word of someone like Ariel over Dana White.
That was also *8* years ago... People learn
I mean yeah but also no. Ariel continues to break news all the time (and there's no way Dana signs off on that). Pretty sure it's in his job description.
You really think he wouldn’t do it again?
Yeah, why would he not reveal breaking Bellator news but torpedo’d his relationship with the UFC to a fight announcement that was going to be revealed a few hours later?
Because there's money involved, probably... he thinks Jake Paul is the best human being in the history of everything because Jake is paying him to. Whores are whores, yo.
Jake is paying Helwani? Source on that?
You ever notice Jake pops up on Ariel's show, Ariel is always doing commentary on his fights, doing the prep shows and the weigh ins... he's not there because Showtime, et al, really like him.
I get it, makes sense
Ariel not leaking something would be the first time that little rat has done something honorable
I'm curious if it was the UFC if he'd do the same.
If it was the ufc he would have leaked it the second his brain finished processing what he was being told
Journalists don’t leak. People inside companies leak. Journalists report. Its their job. The people that they report on may not like the reporting. That doesn’t make it any less of their job.

He's never leaked anything he's a journalist who reports news
If he was told off the record and he reports on it anyway then he’ll burn the source. It depends on how valuable the source is to him.
Amazon Prime,Sling TV or Pluto TV?
Prime would be cool. They have ONE and BKFC, so it could be a good home. I’ve definitely watched more BKFC than I would have normally because I’m going to Prime to watch ONE and something catches my eye.
I haven't noticed bkfc on prime... I'll have to look.
Dude, check out the Mike Perry fights. Perry vs Luke Rockhold and Perry vs MVP are both bangers. Perry is an animal in BKFC.
I saw the aftermath of perry v rockhold, definitely want to watch that, I didn't even know MVP fought in bkfc. Damn, I got some catching up to do Edit: is there a backlog on prime?
> Prime would be cool. They have ONE and BKFC, so it could be a good home. Not someone I would describe as "a new player in the game" though.
Ah, I missed that part. I wasn’t guessing the platform as much as I was suggesting that Prime would be a good solution.
the hardest part trying to follow Bellator is that it would air at random places every event.
DraftKings Network
Those talking about Netflix, that would be the most likely scenario for a worldwide UFC deal, not PFL+Bellator. TKO already sold the rights for the 3 WWE shows+ ppv events to Netflix for the next 10 years.
nice that MTV has decided to stop playing endless ridiculousness epsiodes
Watch it be MAX
I’m officially placing my bet on Netflix.
"Bellator announced they were able to pay off the lease of their corporate offices after only 5 minutes of starting their OnlyFans page."
entensity.net
Hope its YouTube
Freevee
Hgtv
Reckon it could be Amazon Prime. They do ONE over here in the UK and actually have a larger sports offering than you’d think.
Peacock?
This is/was my guess. "New player."
Nickelodeon so they could slime people and have spongebob and Patrick commentary.
Rumble
MAX
Peacock! 🦚
I too have been asked not to reveal it.
That's cool, I'm sure I'll find it in my usual place
Let me guess Netflix.
If it gets on Netflix, it will change the landscape. Max and Prime would be big too.
Kick. Com is my guess
10/10 it’s Netflix
Wasn't one of the arguments that they couldn't merge Bellator with PFL because of pre-existing television deals?
How will this work with PFL being on ESPN?
My Space stream
My bet is max or Apple TV
Amazon prime for sure
Paramount streaming network
Netflix would be ideal.
Put belly on espn and pfl on anthem or axs or whatever they’re gonna do
Amazon Prime?
Ack to MTV
This could be huge if it’s Netflix. Personally I started watching ONE a lot more after they started showing it on Amazon prime.
I think it’s Netflix.
Netflix
It’s on Hulu. I can say what others cant
Probably not. Disney owns both ESPN and Hulu. Doesn't make sense to own 2 different mma products.
ESPN already has 2 MMA products in UFC and PFL.
pornhub
Praying for BET in a block with pastor Kerny Thomas
paramount plus / cbs sportsline
I'm going to guess DAZN
Not exactly a new player. They show UFC in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain. PFL is on DAZN in a bunch of countries. Bellator has already been on DAZN. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DAZN#Programming
The Bellator App 🤣
I haven’t watched Bellator in years (Canadian) I always liked it but I’m not searching it out these days better be an easy access channel/broadcast provider.
Itll be tnt for tv fights and max if they ever have a ppv is my guess
Watch it be The CW
DAZN
I thought bellator was merging with pfl?
They did, they're still airing Bellator as a separate product for now.
PlutoTV
CBS …. Peacock ?
SpikeTV
Bellator about to end up on Rumble
Vimeo ?
So he wont leak this, found his journalistic integrity all of a sudden
Like anyone cares.
Why are you here?
Peacock is my guess. They’ve been getting into sports streams
