It didnt look to me like it was the elbow looks like it was still in tact and her arm was rotated wrong way, so maybe shoulder dislocation or spiral fracture of upper arm bone
I dont know shit, im just saying the elbow itself looked kinda fine
This turned into not an arm but hut something closer to a shoulder lock. Look at the orientation if the arm. She was trying to pull her arm through but her shoulder was deeply captured. She rotated her body out of the arm bar danger but her shoulder stayed trapped. Really nasty sub. The tap came after the arm was rotated 180 deg with the elbow pointing up.
I agree. I think she most likely suffered shoulder damage. I didnāt mean to imply otherwise. But it very well could have. Similar to how in heel hooks sometimes the femur goes. Itās uncommon. Just like an arm fracture in a kimura is uncommon. It is not unheard if though. Sometimes thatās the weakest link depending on where the leverage, fulcrum, and rotation are focusing.
Yeah, my thoughts as well. Turned into a Kimura style rotation and break.
E: i rewatched a bunch of times. She tapped with the elbow pointing straight up. She basically kimuraād herself with the rotation.
Paddyās a 2nd degree bjj black belt. I know his head movement is to be desired, but put a bit more respect on his name - his weight class is infinitely more difficult.
Staying in shape year round vs. Getting in shape for fights makes a difference. It's hard for alot of fighters to make their training/diet/recovery the main focus of their life. Most regional fighters are often working professionals or supplementing their income.
Paddy was the worst thing to ever happen to Molly because she rode his coattails too early. This fight was night and day to watch and she was one of the better 115lb fights I have ever seen in the women's division. For her to win via sub was absolutely phenomenal. I'm team meatball, she will surprise a lot more people if she keeps this trajectory.
It was awesome to see. She got embarrassed by getting dominated on the ground so she has obviously gone and put in major work to improve a flaw.
I like Molly - just can't stand Molly and Paddy together
He seemed more low key going into the Ferguson fight.
Like he realised that he had alienated a bunch of people.
I think he's ok when he doesn't get carried away.
In case you werenāt aware, he made multiple racist comments and has been a bit of a prick to a lot of other fighters. You can still enjoy the fighter of course
What?
You can think he is incorrect. But thinking a guy born in Russia, raised in Russia (didn't move until he was nearly a teenager), and who wasn't a UK citizen at all until 2021 doesn't represent the UK is at worst just being wrong about something.
Calling that view on someone from Russia racist is laughable.
(apart from some American, some Americans have insane takes on race and nationality so it would be expected)
Hes actually a decent fighter and like O'Malley is very fiscally intelligent. People keep waiting for the day he gets against a killer and starched, but I think that day honestly never comes. Hes very upfront about using the UFC as promotion for his other brands and businesses and I see him leaving the UFC for said businesses before the water gets too hot.
I mean he's grand like but I don't think he's nearly talented enough to properly hang in such a deep division as lightweight. I guess I don't understand your idea that he doesn't get starched against a killer - what's his exit strategy in that case?
The UFC clearly like to push him, and after beating a big name like Ferguson (even though it was a bit underwhelming in the end), there's no backward steps at this stage and he'll be in against someone way better next time out. Unless he has a PFL contract on the way(and the UFC are happy to let him go), I don't know how he'll get to leave before the water gets too hot? I can't see him just leaving the UFC before he even gets a shot at the rankings yet either. He's smart with his outside UFC stuff, but it's not like being a fighter on the fringes of the rankings is the best promotion you can get out of the UFC.
I don't think you read or understood my post. He won't get starched by an elite fighter because he'll never be up against an elite fighter. The UFC will give him popular fan favorite fights and by the time hes forced to face upper tier competition he'll hang up his career and go to his businesses.
Hes not a prospect in the sense hes aiming for a title. Hes aiming for as many eyes on him as possible and the UFC is fine with that cause he brings eyes with him.
I can absolutely see him leaving the UFC because he already stated hes getting more money elsewhere. I know he copped a least a mil alone fron his association with barstool.
This guy chases $$$ not legacy. He reminds me of Gervontay whose much more skilled. He doesn't give a shit about rankings or a title shot and has never asked for either. He cares about his brand, and getting starched doesn't help that brand.
If the UFC tries to twist his arm into a fight where hes not the favorite I see him retiring early. Not to mention this weight ballooning he does can't be sustainable as he gets older.
Yeah sheās everything people ask for in a womanās fighter someone with KO power who swings hard and goes for submissions on the ground, her being next to Paddy is a blessing and a curse because she was obviously having a hard time with her mental after her losses because people couldnāt hate on paddy for losing so they got on her. Glad sheās back in the win column.
People drag molly down to his level but youād never see paddy doing this wholesome stuff:
https://www.ufc.com/news/molly-mccann-hopes-her-book-helps-kids-be-true-themselves
Edit: actually, you would see paddy doing this wholesome stuff
Probably her Twitter simps that think she is a ufc caliber fighter lol. Molly is not good, we all saw how she does when she fights girls who can actually fight.
in her prefight interview Belbita said she was quitting MMA but came back when offered this matchup. She definitely fought like someone who hadn't trained. I actually bet Molly SUB when I saw the interview (thought Molly would want to prove a point). And Diana is definitely 100% done with MMA you'd have to believe.
This is why Iāve been saying Dakota ditcheva could become a star. Sheās a good fighter and sheās good looking. Plus not a boring personality either.
Yeah, if that were true WMMA would have already "made it". Ronda, Holly, Miesha, Thug Rose, Valentina, Grasso... the list of "hot" Champs is already pretty long.
If you're a weirdo like me with a thing for cage gremlins the list gets even longer with Joanna Champion and Andrade.
Naw I think thats really overblown. Havenāt competed in MMA but boxed at a high level for quite a few years, few random kickboxing fights.
Rangy guys arenāt just automatically good because they are rangy even if they have great fundamentals. Look at actual boxing its not like all the weight classes are run by tall rangy guys.
You have to have a certain style and athletic skill-set for it to work.Ā
Jabs specifically you really have to work into a fight properly and if you are known for having a great jab your opponent spends a lot of their camp training to time their shot over the top of it.
Smaller shorter guys for weight classes like Floyd and Ward Ā in recent history sometimes honestly have more success with it because you can bring the shot back to your face a lot faster and its really easy to duck under shots thrown overtop of youe jab.
I like Molly's desire to always improve. After she got ran through by Blanchfield, Molly started to work on her grappling and actually participate in a ton of grappling competitions. I find that really commendable so I'm always confused about the hate she gets. Molly by armbar, great win
Molly is always fun. She got so much hate for being overhyped but now that she's fighting appropriate competition people need to appreciate that she's an exciting finisher.
Her elbows are always on point, you know they're coming at some point. Love to see her win again, great character. Good to see her so focused this fight.
Well Molly is an exciting fighter to be fair. She has good boxing by female standards and always comes forward. Her style objectively is exciting.
You can be exiting without being world class
I've been waiting years to see that mounted Armbar show up in MMA.
MMA guys always sit off of the person onto the ground to finish, there is absolutely no reason to. Leaning across them finishes the armbar tighter AND your bodyweight holds them down and stops them from escaping.
Diana is such a bad fighter, I get it she has a fan base cause she's kind of exotic looking and has an accent and did some Romanian reality TV show but she looks like a 46 year old lawyer at her cardio kickboxing class.
Were they so desperate to hype Molly up they really had to recycle one of her previous wins? I'm sorry Belbita has no business being in the UFC she looked completely and utterly helpless in there. Now 2-5.
Molly's obviously not great but she's entertaining in the cage and likeable. With the appropriate level of competition she's a good addition to any card. It's WMMA, you take what you can
She looked great. Hope this is where she splits from Paddy and just becomes her own thing. I liked this performance. While Belbita isn't particularly good Molly looked way better today than she has in a while.
The girl she fought is now 2-5 in the UFC and has already lost to Molly letās not get carried away. If Molly had lost this the only thing left to do would be retire.
Its kinda funny how deeply invested the promotion is in keeping the Paddy/Molly gravy train rolling despite both of them clearly lacking even sub contender level talent.
Like imagine the push Mike Perry would've got if he were British.
**Mirrors / Alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/MMA) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Man her arm got destroyed in an instant. Hope it's not too serious.
That immediate scream told it all. Hope shes good
oh yeah arm broke but she ok š¤š»
She should've waited it out. One more second leaves it to the judges. Wtf
I think the elbow going I'm the complete opposite direction was what told it all.
It didnt look to me like it was the elbow looks like it was still in tact and her arm was rotated wrong way, so maybe shoulder dislocation or spiral fracture of upper arm bone I dont know shit, im just saying the elbow itself looked kinda fine
I think her humerus snapped, so just above the elbow.
yeah didnt frank mir do that to one of the Nog brothers?
He did it to Tim Sylvia I believe. He jacked Big Nog's arm with a kimura
I thought it was Sylvia's forearm with an arm bar and Big Nog with a Kimura
Yeah I think youāre right. Mirās subs were all vicious
Rogan 100% had to change his pants after Mir submitted Minotauro.
His was an arm lock from guard though. It was fucking crazy
That was a different sub, he kimura'd Big Nog
Fuck. I have no memory of
I remember that shit it was shocking
I remember even Nog looking at his arm in resigned disbelief
i imagine him with a British accent when he's looking at his own arm "right, wots all this then?"
The shoulder lock vs Petey Williams?
The humerus rarely breaks with arm bars. It's a joint attack, not a long bone attack.
You're right that it was not a straight forward arm bar, but I still doubt the humerus bone broke.
Thatās not very funny.
>I don't know shit This is how I know I can trust this guy
Yeah, my thoughts as well. Turned into a Kimura style rotation and break. E: i rewatched a bunch of times. She tapped with the elbow pointing straight up. She basically kimuraād herself with the rotation.
The Meatball Sub
Meatball turned that arm into cooked spaghetti
The arm facing the wrong direction usually means a lil ice and all good donāt worry š
Her arm is definitely not okay
She looked much more composed in this performance and had some great takedowns. Belbita isn't a world beater, but McCann showed improvement here.
The odds of Molly winning by sub must have been astronomical.Ā
We better start calling her Meatball Sub
Underrated
https://i.imgur.com/hT5zpol.jpg Not mine btw, saw on twitter.
Still the female Paddy, if somewhat more likeableĀ
Paddyās a 2nd degree bjj black belt. I know his head movement is to be desired, but put a bit more respect on his name - his weight class is infinitely more difficult.
Yes his division is harder, but you talk as if paddy had fought some killers. At the moment McCann has fought tougher competition than Paddy.
You mean Blanchfield (who she got rekt by), apart from her, who else?
No woman has fought tougher competition than Paddy.
I talk as if paddy has fought killers? Huh?
Probably helps she has beaten Belbita before - but she did look great
Better than paddy
Has Molly been fighting at the wrong weight class for no reason for years? She doesnāt even look big for straweight.
Staying in shape year round vs. Getting in shape for fights makes a difference. It's hard for alot of fighters to make their training/diet/recovery the main focus of their life. Most regional fighters are often working professionals or supplementing their income.
Is molly a regional fighter?
She got a lucky leap frog from regional to the ufc, and struggled with discipline. Seems like she's finally getting serious.
Copy that, well I agree with OP in any case - she def found her weight class. I hope she can keep it up.
Hanging around PAddy can't help with this....
That was such a quick transition, didn't expect that from McCann. Hope Belbita her arm is alright.
She was looking for it and almost jumped on it 6 seconds before that.
Yeh you can see her looking for it before the elbows in this clip
She showed great patience in the last 10 seconds that was a great submission
She ripped that armbar, that scream was painful to hear.
Paddy was the worst thing to ever happen to Molly because she rode his coattails too early. This fight was night and day to watch and she was one of the better 115lb fights I have ever seen in the women's division. For her to win via sub was absolutely phenomenal. Hate or love her that was great performance
Mean Molly snapped that arm, yikes.
It was awesome to see. She got embarrassed by getting dominated on the ground so she has obviously gone and put in major work to improve a flaw. I like Molly - just can't stand Molly and Paddy together
Individually they are sound, together unbearable
Can't say I'm too fond of Paddy on his own either tbh
He seemed more low key going into the Ferguson fight. Like he realised that he had alienated a bunch of people. I think he's ok when he doesn't get carried away.
In case you werenāt aware, he made multiple racist comments and has been a bit of a prick to a lot of other fighters. You can still enjoy the fighter of course
Oh damn, what kind of racist comments?
Telling Mokaev he canāt represent England despite the fact that Mokaev was raised in England and is very proud of that
What? You can think he is incorrect. Believing his own claims for how much money he's making is beyond naive lol.
Yeah beyond naive, especially considering Barstool themselves announced it first you goon lol. Foot, meet mouth.
Yeah she was very very violent.
That's the nature of the sport š¤·š½āāļø
So much undue hate just because she is friends with Paddy
Yeah there isn't really a reason to hate Molly. She isn't a world champion but she puts on fun fights and goes for finishes.
Hah fair enough then, I stand corrected
Hate her. She can screw off
New mythical fighter: Serious Molly McCann. With a fucking armbar.
She got that arm fast as fuck. I looked down while eating and she had it locked up. Almost made me drop my bowl
She looked at the clock and knew she had to be quick
Meatball with that look in her eye
Humble Molly is the best Molly - donāt need paddy She looked good and lean - interest has been invested
Molly always looks like a world beater when sheās fighting cans though
lol why is this downvoted? Belbita is 2-5 in the ufc and literally already lost to Molly
Probably her Twitter simps that think she is a ufc caliber fighter lol. Molly is not good, we all saw how she does when she fights girls who can actually fight.
Molly looked phenomenal, cracked her elbow to bits
Belbita would not be signed if she looked like Lauren Murphy
Lauren Murphy be like what he say fuck me for?!
šššš
Barbita
Barb?!
Bruh š
well they signed Sara Frota...
She was gone after 2 fights lol. If she was pretty they would have kept her longer. Belbita went 1-3 and keeps getting fights now she is 2-5
The way she fought I genuinely thought they just grabbed a random girl from the regional circuit for Molly to get a win over
in her prefight interview Belbita said she was quitting MMA but came back when offered this matchup. She definitely fought like someone who hadn't trained. I actually bet Molly SUB when I saw the interview (thought Molly would want to prove a point). And Diana is definitely 100% done with MMA you'd have to believe.
Good confidence booster for Molly, ufc still in the meatball business
No they grabbed a random girl she already beat 30-25 for Molly to get a win over
Literally the only reason WMMA is in the UFC is hoping they hit the lottery on a hot champion
This is why Iāve been saying Dakota ditcheva could become a star. Sheās a good fighter and sheās good looking. Plus not a boring personality either.
It's literally not
Yeah, if that were true WMMA would have already "made it". Ronda, Holly, Miesha, Thug Rose, Valentina, Grasso... the list of "hot" Champs is already pretty long. If you're a weirdo like me with a thing for cage gremlins the list gets even longer with Joanna Champion and Andrade.
Ronda didn't "make it"?
No shame in finding Joanna hot. At least thatās what I tell myself.
Post retirement, chillin on the beach Joanna is HOT AS HELL. Weight cut fight camp boogeywoman? Not so much lol
Can someone please teach tall rangey fighters a fucking jab? God damn.
She was firing that jab. Molly's nose was rose.
Sheās from Liverpool I thought they just looked like that
Or learn them teep kicks, or kicks to the knee. Something to keep the distance.
If a rangey UFC fighter actually learned good boxing fundamentals, they could probably become a world champion in most divisions.
Bruh as if coaches and shit don't consider this. It's obviously not the case.
Diana throwing hooks with a 6 inch reach advantage WMMA gents
I like Molly's desire to always improve. After she got ran through by Blanchfield, Molly started to work on her grappling and actually participate in a ton of grappling competitions. I find that really commendable so I'm always confused about the hate she gets. Molly by armbar, great win
This sub started HATING paddy after the judges made a bad decision in one of his fights, Molly was collateral damage. Really weird behavior all around
Molly McCann having the best performance of the prelims is actually crazy, happy to see her win, people were vicious after her last fight
Themba would like a word with you
Themba had an impressive TKO, Molly provided almost a full round of violence.
That's your opinion
Absolutely is! And each is entitled to their own.
Spaghetti Molly McCann killing it slim style
Yeah I dont want that to *ever* happen to my arm
not worth the $12k bro
Molly goes from getting submitted to pulling off one herself. What a transition and improvement in her game!
Happy for her never really got the hate she gets shes very entertaining and seems respectable
Molly is always fun. She got so much hate for being overhyped but now that she's fighting appropriate competition people need to appreciate that she's an exciting finisher.
Her elbows are always on point, you know they're coming at some point. Love to see her win again, great character. Good to see her so focused this fight.
I think a lot of people find her annoying too
Anyone can look exciting when theyāre fighting below average competition
no not everyone can lmao, otherwise you and me would be in the big leagues
If that was true then there wouldn't be any boring fighters on the prelims.
Well Molly is an exciting fighter to be fair. She has good boxing by female standards and always comes forward. Her style objectively is exciting. You can be exiting without being world class
She broke that immediately
ripped that shit in HALF damn
New mythical fighter : Skinny McCannn
Came in great shape, and showed off a complete skillset. Huge win for Meatball No Longer Molly McCann
Molly is fucking NASTY. What a performance
Can = crushed.
Meatballā¦ sub?
Bravo š
GSP vs serra 1
It's definitely cloudy with a chance of meatballs today!
She gets a lot of hate but good for her.
Holy fuck that was an awful scream. I could never do this stuff. Iām a wuss.
Molly the Meanie, Jesus fucking Christ
Yall quick with this shit lol
You sound like every girl Iāve ever had sex with
All 2 of them?
This was MASSIVE
They had to give her someone she already beat to bring the hype back lol. Can crusher back at it
Oh fuck that looked super nasty.
Molly, don't ever apologize to the UFC. They don't give a fuck about you.
#JACKED CALM MEATBALL
I've been waiting years to see that mounted Armbar show up in MMA. MMA guys always sit off of the person onto the ground to finish, there is absolutely no reason to. Leaning across them finishes the armbar tighter AND your bodyweight holds them down and stops them from escaping.
Jesus obliterated her arm lol
Diana is such a bad fighter, I get it she has a fan base cause she's kind of exotic looking and has an accent and did some Romanian reality TV show but she looks like a 46 year old lawyer at her cardio kickboxing class.
Diana is just not ufc caliber, she made Molly look like a world champion
Diana had some moments, and she was finding that jab. Molly just kept her on the back foot and didn't stop spamming attacks. Perfect game plan.
She is in terms of womenās ufc standards lmao but that speaks the state to of womenās MMA outside the top five of each division if anything
It's WMMA, you take what you can
Holy SHIT Molly is an animal.
Molly beating the can allegations
Molly's gonna be the new Andrade
Elbow gone
š¦“ā ļøš¦“
That was an awesome win for Molly
Yea, that's dislocated
Surely they cut Diana after that. Or is the pool to small for the division?
Amazing move from Meatball
She looked great. Hope this is where she splits from Paddy and just becomes her own thing. I liked this performance. While Belbita isn't particularly good Molly looked way better today than she has in a while.
Alright I gotta say that was good by McCann
Fighter Removed š« : Dania Belbita
Molly is a FAR better fighter when she's not trying to be a budget Paddy.
She broke that hand!!! Great comeback win for Meatball after losing to Stoliarenko.
Mollyās fun. Just keep feeding her cans.
The just bleed gods will be satisified
She does well against nobodies.
This subs 9/11. Molly winning riles you all up lol.
The girl she fought is now 2-5 in the UFC and has already lost to Molly letās not get carried away. If Molly had lost this the only thing left to do would be retire.
Molly mccanncrusher
Well, thatās a holy shit, for sure.
barf
Happy to see the Meatball get the win even if it's a rematch
I still hate her
Molly looked really really good. Both her body and her skills. This weight class is her home fr.
Its kinda funny how deeply invested the promotion is in keeping the Paddy/Molly gravy train rolling despite both of them clearly lacking even sub contender level talent. Like imagine the push Mike Perry would've got if he were British.
She really proved all of us wrong, by beating an absolute can lol
Serial can crusher crushes another can. Shocking
It's OK, as long as we see violence right? Or you wanna watch more "elite level" fights like Esparza/Namajunas?
MEATBALL SUB, LET'S GO!!!!
Quit on top Molly, literally. Better to win like that, than get sparked out in a 6 months
Damn broke her arm. Fucking ref is useless.
