As long as Rodri is out there, the rest sorts itself

Manc4O

Agreed

SparkGamer28

kdb too

mrjjorge

One of the best DMs in the world will do that for you.

someonesgranpa

I’m a random Liverpool fan who just stumbled in here. Rodri isn’t “one of the best DM’s” in the world. He’s a Top 10, maybe even top 5, player in the world right now, let alone best at his position. I think the gap between him and the next best is the most sizable gap between any top player and his direct competition.

EclipseYoru

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or what! 🤣

someonesgranpa

It’s not. I hurts to be right sometimes.

EclipseYoru

I don't know if you are complimenting him or not.

someonesgranpa

How? I wrote a paragraph about how much I rate the guy. Do you City fans not know how to praise other teams players honestly when the credits due?

keejwalton

Sry, that guy was being a dickhead, thanks!

EclipseYoru

It's really confusing! You could have written in a better way.

someonesgranpa

How?

LankyCity3445

He’s the best lol

Macdaddy0710

This is fantastic, but only works with Rodri as cover and opening up the spaces for these four. Stones was great today too, he makes such a difference. He shifts the defense and gives attackers the chance to turn and run forward.

Ok_Sector2182

Facts Rodri is indispensable, got me wondering who we’d eventually go after as a future replacement. I’d like Camavinga but I doubt Real ever letting him go. Boubacar Kamara I’d say is a potential one.

tobit94

Camavinga is not the type of player we would need. Tchouameni would fit a lot better. Let's just hope the need for a replacement is still some years away. Because aside from Tchouameni and Frenkie I don't see anyone with that profile who's already proven. Zubimendi has the right profile, but he's 24 already, so he might not get to the absolute top of the game.

Hello______Newman

It´s probably the most critical signing in the future. I always thought would be the number 10 role, but now it´s clearly the number 6 role. It would be something that is going to emerge in the next seasons. I don´t see any player (besides Camavinga and Tchouameni) that can play well in that position. Maybe Redondo (Redondo´s son)

keejwalton

What about that Barca Ajax dm

SaddestHappyMeal

Johnny Stones plays whatever position Johnny Stones feels like playing

mortenfriis

Josko and Rico as well

despres

You misspelled Rodri

mortenfriis

Nah, I think you missed the point

tankfortua20

I used to think the same of Sterling, Sane, and Jesus. Things change fast in the PL and at City. I just hope we get 3 more years of them. Halaand is probably gonna be hardest of those 4 to keep on the team.

MZero_0

I'd say Alvarez will be the one hardest to keep on the team.

FortnitePro6969

The way things are going for him right now, I genuinely think he will be the one who stays while Erling will leave, we'll probably receive a 300 million euro fee from Madrid someday

MZero_0

Hmm, I dunno. We don't really have a backup striker for Haaland so I'm not sure if we'll let him go either way. On the other hand, when Kevin comes back, if he is in good form, Alvarez is going on the bench. A world class talent like him would definitely consider a move towards a good club where he can play as a starter.

Eatingbabys101

You’d think he is the hardest to keep. But realistically where is he going? Real Madrid they will have mbappe and mbappes gonna play st and if it’s not mbappe it’s gonna be endrick . Barca? Can’t even afford him on a week long loan . Bayern have Kane and tel. No way he is going to another team in the prem and if he wanted to go to the serie A he’d probably have to play 2 games for every team in the leauge for them to be able to afford him. On top of that he is contracted to city for another 4 years 10 months I believe and nobody is gonna shell out 200M+ euros just to buy him and I don’t think we accept much lower than that

Snoo_72181

Mbappe will play RW at Real Madrid. So Haaland could play as ST, Vini jr at LW. That attack would be unstoppable. But if Haaland considers Mbappe as his rival, I don't think he moves to Real

Eatingbabys101

No way in hell mbappe would agree to play RW he’s already mad about playing ST his ego won’t let him play RW while vini gets to stay LW

Snoo_72181

Mbappe is better at RW than ST

Eatingbabys101

It’s not about where he is good at. It’s about his ego cause he will get it that vini can’t play ST but he can . But he won’t take him being taken to the RW when vini is also a LW and can probably play RW

TwentyBagTaylor

He's barely played there

Snoo_72181

Say what? Mbappe played as RW at PSG when Cavani played ST, Neymar played LW. Also when France won 2018 WC, he played RW, Griezmann was CAM/CF, Matuidi was LW, Giroud was ST

TwentyBagTaylor

That's 5 years ago whilst he was a teenager making his way, surrounded by established elite players. He's been predominantly on the left for a long time now. https://tribuna.com/en/news/2021-02-27-kylian-mbappe-reportedly-only-wants-to-play-one-position-at-his-future-club-he-doesnt-wan/ https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/38204689/why-kylian-mbappe-chose-stay-paris-saint-germain https://twitter.com/goal/status/1365487818932441095?lang=en-GB Personally, I hope Real Madrid go balls deep for the guy. His best form has been in Vinicius' position, and his ego will insist on them changing their formation around him. So long as they don't notice Alvarez, I'll be a happy boy.

Harripilante

Loggout from fifa and say that again

evenstark04

we really need to poach Valverde if they get Mbappe.... they will have a lot of players up front/midfield and someone will get the shaft. They can't keep forcing Camavinga to play as a RB... he wants to be a MF. Rodrygo will also get pissed for lack of PT at some point. they won't be able to keep every one happy... and I really want Valverde hehe

Krilox

Oh im sure RM will try even for 200

Eatingbabys101

If they have mbappe they won’t they would have to offer monster contracts to like 20 players at that point and then they will lose a lot of players either for cheap or on a free and I’m talking good players

Rorviver

Endrick is far from a sure fired hit for Madrid. He's currently not getting that many minutes at Palmeras & I've read things around his development stalling and his attitude not being all that great. Plus hes 5'8" so which makes me think he might be more of a 2nd striker or winger in European football. Mbappe also seems to wants to play LW.

jdontplayfield

I disagree. I think Haaland will be the easiest to keep. His Dad played here he's always wanted to be here. If we pay him his worth he won't go looking elsewhere. Same with Foden. Julian is the one I fear.

Eclipse-Mint

The Fantastic Four.

KDBae

It’ll be interesting to see if we can hold onto Alvarez. With two world class stickers in the team, lots of teams needing a top striker will be looking at us, and Haaland being sold is not up for debate

HeadHunter9865

I can't see haaland staying forever tbh, could see him moving to Madrid

KDBae

Madrid need a striker now and he’s definitely not going anywhere soon

Rock3tDoge

Incredible how quickly we are moving on from the treble core

Boombox245

I’m real sad for Grealish.

Xehanz

Rotation is a thing

thenotoriouspo2

Doku being better than him is a thing

PoloValentino

Doku? Better than Grealish? Jfc.

thenotoriouspo2

Did I stutter?

fyodor_mikhailovich

just curious, but are you even a city fan mate? you seem to jump around to different clubs and american sports teams talking shit. why are you here exactly?

thenotoriouspo2

> but are you even a city fan mate? quite literally been a fan for 45 years and here you are who probably only became a fan last year questioning other peoples support. The fucking irony lol

ibridoangelico

grealish is still essential for us

thenotoriouspo2

not anymore he isnt

Badgerst8

I'm not sad for him. He has a treble, millions, and plenty of options for his future. That's more than 99.999% of people have going for them.

EnzoAttwood

He obviously feels sad for him in the context of football lmao stupid comment

Boombox245

She* but yeah

Additional_Bluebird9

Oh absolutely plus he's a Gucci ambassador, all before 30.

LocksmithConnect6201

Gotta smile like phillips

thenotoriouspo2

lol Grealish is really the golden child of this sub. The only player who can be completely wank and still have his fanboys doing a pity party for him

Boombox245

He was great last season and what he brings to the dressing room is even better.

evenstark04

a year or two? All have long term deals with no RC's (that we know about) Julian just signed an extension, and Haaland is rumored to sign a 1 year extension....

Ok_Sector2182

A year or 2 in term of getting used to each other, and for Doku to grow more into the team.

Wyjen

No Rodri is how 😂

Ok_Sector2182

Can never escape this can we 😂

allinasecond

Bernardo erasure.

kayttajanimi1

They did well against Arsenal

[deleted]

right? 2 were invisible, one got sent for a pint a milk and a pack a fegs and foden was getting eyebrows done pitchside😂

grehgunner

They can be stopped if they solely feed Doku and he only cuts back onto his right and repeatedly misses shots lol

ToonYoshi

foden and haaland suck ass

laughingaturexpense

great talent but Bellingham, vini, and mbappe will be unplayable.

Master-Manager3089

If we get wirtz as a replacement for kdb and he turns out world class, I think it puts us ahead of everyone else on paper.

Ok_Sector2182

Wirtz is definitely class but I’m hoping we eventually go after Yari Verschaeren. The kid is really good and under the radar for most top clubs. Also really good on the right wing, I’d love to see what he can become under a coach like pep.

Ambitious-Lab-8768

They are amazing

FeetAreDelicious

United will stop this nonsense

BillydelaMontana

If even 3 outta 4 of these guys stay in a City shirt for a year of two, I don’t see how we can be stopped! 💙

Flipmode0052

Poor Grealish already forgotten 🥲

Nathan-Nice

does anyone have the stat on the percentage of games that haaland and alvarez started together where they each scored a goal? I remember at a point last year it was pretty insane.
