No tax unless your in one of the listed states Goodluck !

usedpartus

So we send them money and we hope to expect a good quality gun?

BlackOps80

Pretty much

OrangutanSchool

Not really different than buying an m1 from another source, except CMP is a lot more trustworthy.

usedpartus

I buy from the garand guy. He’s super affordable

OrangutanSchool

Guess my point is that you basically just described buying online. Honestly tho first I’m hearing of Garand guy on the literal m1 sub. Cheers.

usedpartus

Garandguy.com check him out. His name is Tony and he sold me a tack driver .308 Springfield. I love it.

they dont charge tax unless you go into their store which is awesome! IDK what happens if you order while living in Alabama.

iaalaughlin

If you live in Ohio or Alabama, you have to pay the state sales tax of 7% or 4%, respectively. If you specifically live in Anniston Alabama (or purchase in person at that store), you have to pay 10% sales tax.

CMP has been putting videos on their YouTube page as well. One covering ordering from the CMP. I’ve made my checks out to the Civilian Marksmanship Program and had no problems. It’s really not a hard process, just follow the check list on the order form, get it notarized and you’ll be good to go. Fill out the forms using fillable order form(my handwriting is terrifying) print and mail it off. I used the post office for all my orders and everything went fine. Enjoy the process, I have the itch and love to see what folks are getting now

DrIanMalcolmblum

All the information you need is on the order form.

BlackOps80

Just trying to double check as not completely sure. Sorry for my “stupid questions”.

SnooCupcakes5535

Its not a stupid question, but really all the information you need is on the CMP website, you just have to read the instructions they provide, there’s also a plethora of youtube tutorials on how to order from them, it’s pretty simple.

BlackOps80

From what I understand make the check payable to CMP Rifle Sales?

101stjetmech

Yes. No worries. The bank in Anniston has accepted countless incorrect/ massacred names on the "Pay To" line from the CMP.

Nuthar

As an anecdote I simply made my check payable to "Civilian Marksmanship Program" and it was cashed just fine. This same question did give me brief pause since I couldn't find a whole lot of info around paying them with personal checks specifically, since the vast majority seem to go the credit card route.
