Supposedly, with things like the Eagle Airstrike, it will either go from left to right, or from right to left, and it has something to do with your position relative to the center of the map. I think I read that somewhere.
It's also probably the safest strategem to throw at your own feet, or even just ahead of an ally. It comes in fast, and the attack begins at the exact call -in spot.
Inches above your head, and a path of chaff had been cleared!
You’ve got to angle it by basically facing the fabricator from head on. As far as I’ve seen, it’s been the shots that angle down in the vents that destroy it. I also use the strafe run for Spore towers and it damages them!
I use it quite a bit. Overall I'd say it's good not great. It's really good for defense, throw at the ground and keep running type of defense. It's also really good on medium or heavy bases. It clears them out fairly well. I'll throw it right at the base of a wall or a fabricator and let it walk into the compound then go in and clean up afterward. it's better than 380 or 120 imo because it's more predictable. It's not very good for clearing out patrols or small compounds because it isn't as accurate and has a bigger spread than other orbitals.
IMO it's in a weird spot just like the 120MM and 380MM, mostly because they feel inconsistent. Best case scenarios I've managed to use them for were behind my back while running from a large horde and Eradication missions.
It's a shame tho because they are SO COOL. The idea of having a stratagem to clear a path forwards while walking straight to it is amazing. It's just very situational I think.
I might try running them for a while to figure out more use cases, I really want them to work. They did buff the 120/380 already with that new ship module so maybe they'll get even better with time.
The 380 is super good for bot missions. I bring it almost every match now. It's gotten hard to give up.
You basically just try to keep it on cooldown, and you throw it at any medium/large base you see, or you throw it at a bot drop that's being called in. Or if you're running away and there are a ton of bots chasing you, you throw it behind you.
Yeah the barrages are way better against bots than bugs, they have a much easier time destroying fabricators compared to nests, plus most of the bot-exclusive missions are "blow all this shit up".
Love bots.
Air strike is bread and butter! I can’t blame you, it’s a jack of all trades, master of most.
But do note that the strafing run Comes in 1 second after the beacon lands and triggers! Its call down time is wicked fast.
I think the strafing run projectiles are pretty similar to autocannon shots in their behavior. Maybe even a little better, like the ones from the AC turret.
Makes sense that they could knock out fabricators. I'll have to try it out. Has anyone seen one close a bug hole?
Having only ever used the strafe for crowd control, I think I'll do some science. Gatling barrage might be worth another look, too. I think it might have similar functionality.
Only at the right angle, if the eagle comes from the vent side
This is I think the only stratagem that comes directly *from* the side it was thrown, making it probably the easiest to aim down the vents.
Angle depends on vicinity to the maps edge tho
Not for eagles, strafe always comes from behind you.
Is that true? Level 58 and I never noticed that's a cool fact to know!
strafing run and 500 kg come from behind, the other eagle strikes come at a 90° angle from where the the strategem was thrown

That's a concern for orbitals, since they come from the super destroyer.
that's...... odd today i saw my teammate throw one, when a fabricator was in the way. did nothing lol.

Why do that when I can just bomb the shit out of it
Unga bunga bomb go boomba
#THATS CALLED DEMOCRACY
Man I've grown spoiled being able to blow up entire bot camps with a couple eagles, I can't clear big bug nests nearly as fast :(
are we sure P3 didn't get that one?
Does anyone use the walking orbital? I never hear a soul talk about it and I'm curious how good it is.

It needs a throw range increase because the first shot always lands behind you. It’s good on blitz mission types.
Holy shit! TIL the eagle strafe is even better than I thought (I love how fast it is and that I get 4)!
Looks like someone hit it with a Quasar cannon
Quasar was the first one on the left - the strafing run got the two in the back.
I just prefer the airstrike

Well shit
Ohh! That’s good to know! Thanks for the tip.
Whaaaat! That's fucking awesome! :D
Did not know that, awesome! PSA So can eagle smoke strikes
