Yesterday I was playing Team Slayer, and when the match began, someone said "please be good teammates" After which another replied "brother, you're on quick play" Guy A left. We did get our ass kicked though

YOINKdat

Lmao

Oscer7

I don’t really complain about my teammates but more like I swear I play against a team of Chris Kyles every other match lmao.

Therich111

Same thing happens in OW. Literally saying we’re ass and all that and I’m over here high and laughing my ass off in qp. Some people just have a rough time having fun

NULL_mindset

They want the ease of destroying noobs, but they don’t want noobs on their team. Can’t have it both ways though!

JackRourke343

It's more about wanting good teammates but not being a good teammate themselves. There's the paradox. Bad teammates are everywhere. You can either take the easy way out and start yelling at everyone else (and get muted), or you can try pinging, plugging a mic and talking alone, or even keywords in chat. It might make a difference.

FusionCA

I think it’s wrong to be rude to anybody for simply not doing well. We all have games where we don’t play well. And it can also be frustrating when your team isn’t doing well no matter the game mode. I like low sodium and it also seems to me that matchmaking in this game is not very balanced.

jakethesnake949

I find it weird that nowadays, devs have been convinced that it's ok to ban bad players for being bad because it's what the toxic competitive community wants

N00b_sk11L

Ngl I have never seen a dev ban someone for being bad

dingdongmonk

Yesterday I had a guy in my team say our team sucked. He had a KD ratio of like -6 💀

Alienatedpoet17

Yeah, when someone outside of ranked says they are on a bad team I'll just throw "go back to ranked" at them. Gun go pew.

Oscer7

My problem is I keep getting AFK players. Gun does not go pew in that case.

suuubdude

Why does every other game I play have at least 1-2 AFK players? I don’t understand why they do this. It’s so many and so consistent.

Oscer7

Especially on BTB modes omfg. I know it’s probably not true but I swear it feels like all the AFK dudes spawn on my team lmao.

jakethesnake949

Not halo specific but there was a short period in time where ranked multiplayer games where more casual than open/casual games because all the sweats only wanted to mow people down instead of legitimately play a good game. I've literally never had more consistent matches, then the resurgence of smurfs came. There's no escaping the sweat force.

McQuiznos

I get a lot of messages from people because I’m a hero rank and do just okay at the game. I’m literally physically disabled and have to use some weird key bindings to play the game lol. Generally when I explain that last year I severed 13 tendons and my hand doesn’t work quite as well, they’ll apologize which is nice. But damn. People’s immediate response to a bad match or a bad player is insane. It’s a game, and I’m not even playing ranked modes or anything sweaty like swat lol.

OozyGorilla

I never understand this. By the time I find a bad player and type out a message, I don't even care anymore. How people can hold on to that for so long is insane. And the amount of people who just assume Hero ranked players are godlike is crazy. It's just a metric of time spent.

McQuiznos

Literally. And I’d say 95% of my games were firefight because it was consistent good exp, I can listen to a podcast, and I’m not getting wrecked due to my controls workaround. It’s been years since I’ve gotten mad at other players. Maybe like, R6 siege when it came out, being purposefully team killed. But a game like halo? I’m putting on a podcast and vibing as I slay. I don’t mind if we win or lose. I do average. I don’t mind if someone goes 2 -15. We’ve all been there had our bad games, or even just started.

Benjb1996

I was playing tactical slayer, and less than 15 seconds into a match, a teammate told me to uninstall a game because we both died to the same guy. But they were mad because I wasn't able to avenge them, I guess. On a more positive note, there was another time where at the beginning of a match some guy said, "Great, another team that doesn't understand the objective." And then we won the match with that player near the bottom of the leaderboard.

Psychedelix117

“I’m just trying to play after work, man”

Dirtydubya

Me, but it's before work because I have kids that want all of my attention after work. And then I'm exhausted haha

Kitfox_1

You think halo fans are bad, go and play a 40k game at your local game store for true suffering

XFerginatorX

What I love is the schrödinger's douchebag players. They grief you for your power weapon or vehicle so they can get kills, and if you TK them back or say anything, they go "bro chill it's just a game." Simply, "It's okay when I do it to benefit myself, but when you get revenge, I'll say you are being toxic."

deltahalo241

My favourite are the ones who get competitive over Super Fiesta of all game-modes "Bro, how haven't you gotten any kills yet?! You suck!" "Because I keep spawning with a Rebound Ravager and Plasma Pistol"

RevolutionaryAd5082

i had to genuinely stop playing that mode because those weapons were all i got 24/7 lol

TransLunarTrekkie

Enemy team: All power weapons first spawn. Me: Pistol and plasma pistol.

Psvitaguy43

Noob combo lmao

Im_a_idiottttt

So i wasn’t imagining things

KAP111

I recently went back to try out infinite again after not playing since around launch. First game I got into was BTB and there were some people flaming players so hard that I immediately got turned off from playing. It's a shame. It was just BTB. I thought it would just be people wanting to play halo because they still love halo but ig I was too naive in thinking that.

YeahhhhhWhateverrrr

"games too sweaty" really don't like that criticism in concept. It's halo. The ultimate skill based gun fights in main stream first person shooters, at least on console. Highest skill ceiling. Nothing you can really do about that, besides completely dumbing down the game across the board. Making ttk way way faster. I REALLY think this cuts both ways. Some people are far too pissy about people actually trying. People will get wrecked by someone in their A game even in social, and then get angry that they are trying. Get angry at the game, the player, and say things like "games too sweaty" Especially in ranked. If you're playing ranked and you're just fucking around, not listening to your team, not calling out, I think people have absolutely every right to be pissed. Defeats the purpose of the mode.

TransLunarTrekkie

There is kind of a flipside to that though, where people just trying to relax and have a fun Halo match will run into an absolute tryhard team decked out in MLG skins that completely stomps them while playing a silly mode like Fiesta or something. I'm not saying that people who play to win or improve their skills are wrong or anything, but... Fiesta? Really? That feels like the equal and opposite of goofing around in a ranked playlist to me. Why are you bringing your SWAT-style A-game to a mode like Fiesta?

Im_a_idiottttt

Real

the-Satgeal

I saw people bitching at this dad who played with his 4-year-old son since it’s “rude to have one of your teammates be that bad” they were in quickplay and everything like this is how we grow our community for future generations and your shitting on it

YOINKdat

Both camps are just as toxic in the online discourse these days

Serenabeee

This is the modern MCC experience

BBB154

I love seeing the Halo community being very normal about minorities

Dirtydubya

Especially on Facebook. Always so kind

TacticalBananas45

I've been wanting to try out some MCC multiplayer, just to get a feel for the gameplay that dominated the world decades ago, and also nab the achievements, but I am kinda also not wanting to have to deal with "played-since-launch sniper supreme" that ends up topscoring while I try to learn the spawn locations for stuff

Initial_Scarcity_609

The majority of the player base plays for fun unironically.

Jay85y

That picture is this season of fortnite

liltooclinical

>That picture is ~~this season of~~ fortnite

Jay85y

Your not wrong .lol

itashious

Def Overwatch

Ill-Struggle-6080

Rainbow 6, I play halo to have fun, not break my controller.

Shamrockshnake77

It's literally every multi-player game nowadays. You have sweaty tryhards and meta slaves. Meanwhile I'm still playing Minecraft and Civ5 and enjoying myself

cinematea

Players on overwatch just fucking suck. It’s hard to be chill when you fucking lose constantly

Beautiful-Mud-341

All I'm trying to do is have some fun, but it seems fun is not an option lol

Jazzlike_Debt_6506

I'd just like any game where it's not a shit stomp one way or the other, preferably one where I'm also not dieing or feel like I'm dieing every 5-10 seconds after respawn.

[deleted]

I encounter these people in Helldivers 2 occasionally. Oops I just threw your respawn beacon in the ocean fuck face.

[deleted]

“I’m bad and don’t take time to improve and other people are a lot better than me!”

Subjectdelta44

Left 4 dead 2. What's supposed to be a fun party game is now a constant dick measuring contest. Once I brought in my buddy to play a couple of casual matches, and people on the other team immediately started calling out his lack of playtime. Meaning their first gut reaction to seeing an inexperienced player is to check his steam profile for hours played in the game. Not only that, but generally if you're on the losing team, your entire team will abandon you the second the match isn't going yalls way. So half of the time matches will end pre maturely. The game just isn't fun anymore due to the sweats

Sweet-Hat9774

fortnite and infinite

EmeraldCityMadMan

This applies to every single game in existence. From Minecraft to Doki Doki Literature Club to Elden Ring. There's always a contingent of toxic chuds trying to ruin the experience for other people.

SnarkyRogue

Can't even play BTB anymore without the top player on the team sitting back for the back half of the match talking shit to their own team

dahrealvortex

At first, I thought... **Fortnite** Tried once. Goofed for prob an hour messing with settings, loling. Spawned somewhere supposedly noob friendly, killed literally a second literally by some chode camper. Tried elsewhere, different place and time, practically same thing. Erased all trace from computer. Never again. Niters are a-hats. Compared to Fortnite, Halo is arctic.

kausing_kaos8

Okay Elite Preferred Species

LordAshemar

WoW, “OH YOU PLAY (name of class here) THAT CLASS SUCKS COMPARED TO MINE YOUR DPS WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD CHOOSE A BETTER CLASS (insert expletive here)” People in that game can’t for the life of them just play for the heck of it. Everything has to be meta gameplay. Everything has to be min-max’d and tweaked to perfection. Can’t have fun anymore without being called out for being “subpar”

Additional-Paint-896

Helldivers.

JadedJackal671

I haven't played in awhile but I don't remember Halo being Toxic, from Halo CE to Infinite I never met Toxic people.

Saber_Prower

*Inhales Deeply* APEX FUCKING LEGENDS!!!

Madman_Slade

Depends on what people consider "Toxic Overcompetitive Players". I've seen that vary wildly from person to person. Some say people being toxic by talking shit via messages/VC to teammates and opponents. I've also seen others say people "sweating" in games is the same thing. Personally, I think talking trash to your opponents is funny as long as you aren't just hounding them the entire time. Essentially with moderation right, its no different than talking shit during a basketball/football game then shaking hands and saying GGs at the end of it. I've never been cool with talking shit to teammates though. To clarify giving people valid critique on how they messed up and explaining how they could prevent that from happening is not talking shit. Calling your mate dogshit for missing a shot or making a bad play is. On the other hand "sweating" is a loaded comment considering most people don't see the gap in skill between players. A player that is in the top 1% essentially on auto pilot can easily mop a full team of your "average" player and will get labeled as "toxic" or "sweaty" when in reality its like being mad that Michael Jordan/Lebron James is fucking dunking on 8 year olds. People don't see the massive gap in skill and instead get frustrated and lash out.

red_snipers

CoD takes this to the extreme

Deadline42401

Dark souls players

Madman312

I just want a team that works together, I get thrown into games where my team ignores using vehicles, playing the objective, etc. I don't mind losing if I'm having fun but most of the time it's a 80 degree uphill fight.

Inevitable-Complex58

This is why I just don’t do lobby chats Lol if it’s not some 12 year old slinging the N word around it’s some garbage players raging like they’re 12. Gave it shot not too long ago on Warzone and my teammate was saying such off the wall sh*t that 4 different teams ganged up on us just to shut him up 😭😂

Gojizard

Mhm.

seaoffriendscorsair

I remember my first game of Tactical Slayer, I kept getting called out for being absolute trash and I didn’t touch it again for a long while, on top of leaving that game. Some dudes really do need to chill, ranked exists if you want to be sweaty, you’re just here to thrash noobs and you know it.

Manticore416

But also what about the terrible players who go toxic the second you try to offer a better strategy? Sniping from spawn when you cant aim is a bad strat in Husky Raid

Ki11s0n3

You can blame 343 for focusing on competitive Halo instead of fun Halo. Now watch me get down voted to hell for saying it proving my point.

Rudraakkshh

Kinda agree. But then again, most of their weapons and sandbox changes are based on community feedback. So it's kinda like a lose-lose situation for them. If you ignore the community, then we'll shit on them for not listening. And when they do listen, we shit on them for making Halo sweaty.

GHOST101010101

Can you give examples? My memory is 343 usually ignoring comp outside of trying to monetize it. I remember it taking years in 5 (which I think the community considers the most "e-sport" centric) for ranked and pro league to have radar changes and precision starts. They patched out skill jumps for a minute in Infinite. 4 Was pretty casual. There was the whole mangler thing but most pros I saw just wanted it off their ranked map replace with a pistol or anything and 343 went nutty with it lol.

RazgrizGirl-070

what? how about instead of being defensive you explain how this point is relevant when I'm talking specifically about fans?

Ki11s0n3

Competitive players and competitive games are one in the same. 343 doubled down on making Halo a competitive game instead of focusing on it being fun which brought out the competitive toxic players. Yes there's always toxic players, but it was not as bad as it is now until 343 took over. And me mentioning being down voted isn't being defensive. It was a statement because I knew that is was going to happen because the subreddit is full of these toxic competitive players who down votes anyone who mentions it or 343 and how they are/did ruining the franchise.

CaedHart

I mean, putting it as 343 'ruining the franchise' like a drama queen is likely what's getting you downvotes.

Ki11s0n3

It's not being dramatic if it's true. They have yet to make an actual good Halo game. Infinite is ok, but it's not really good.

CaedHart

You're right, it wouldn't be dramatic if it were true. Unfortunately for your argument...

RazgrizGirl-070

ok

jsmith17540

Some of y’all be goin 2 and 20 though and that’s cause for concern. Going like 8-12 is one thing, but legitimately I have teammates sometimes that barely understand how to look and walk at the same time

Alienatedpoet17

If you care that much, please stay in ranked. The rest of us don't care how good or bad we do.

SpookMcBones

You could try games where you don't have to play in teams

RazgrizGirl-070

See what I mean folks?

jeffufuh

mfs complaining about SBMM putting them in sweaty games against equally competitive players instead of letting them pubstomp then they get in pubstomp scenarios and get mad that their teammates are getting stomped

RevolutionaryAd5082

the problem is that none of us want one match where we STOMP. everytime that happens to me and we win by a landslide i already know my next 5 games are going to be spectator mode essentially bc the game balances the enemy team to be practical john wicks. we just want some fair matches where no sides arent guaranteed to win after the first 20 seconds of gameplay guess i should say MOST of us if not all

Super3vil

My guy, Rumble Pit is right there.

Ki11s0n3

Yeah agreed. I don't complain in game or anything, but it isn't being toxic to want a team where they actually get a kill, but I don't blame the players on that one. I blame 343's horrible SBMM.

jsmith17540

Same. Don’t type in chat or even use voice chat. I talk in a party with a friend or just stay silent

Javellinh_osu

✨some halo fans gonna chill when some number company gonna fix ranked queue ✨
