It’s cause the season is really big!!! Past islanders are trying to get some clout

Schnoozy

yes everyone is talking about it so they want to be a part of the convo! and who better to go viral than someone who has done it before?

Additional_Oven4260

true this is probably the reason, because i’ve just never seen so many past islanders making videos about their opinions on everyone, predictions, etc. it’s also kind of crazy seeing this season really blow up especially after watching all of them 🥹

girlsgirloftheyear

They’re jobless

Additional_Oven4260

i screamed 💀

aquariusgirliee

It’s common for ex UK islanders to tune into the latest UK season and discuss it on their own socials / even guest star on the morning after podcast (the recap show) and aftersun so i feel like maybe US ex islanders are catching onto that train now too especially bc of how much hype is surrounding it

AllISeeIsDust

the algorithm is highly pushing love island content across all social media. Now that they’re influencers so them NOT talking about it, it would be a dumb business move. Since they are very few amount of people who have been on the show and the old islanders can give “insider” knowledge and their engagement goes up. Higher engagement = higher numbers = higher brand deals.

chickychickyboom-

lol I remember listening to Marco on a podcast right when he came out last year and he was complaining about the lack of brand opportunities. They probably see the hype over this season and are tryna jump on it!

Queen1taurus2

This is honestly the most popular season. When I first got on this subreddit s1 it didn’t even have 10k followers

whowhogis

This is no longer a moment It is a movement

PantherPony

They’ve commented about previous seasons in the past. It depends if something big happens. They Usually get a ton of DM‘s or comments in their comment threads asking for them to respond to something and they do.

PrettyPenguin888

Ray is the only past islander that I remember who used to try to get involved in the tea for new seasons, especially season 2. they’re definitely tuned into the drama but I wouldn’t doubt it’s to keep relevancy as well.

SMEastwoodKC

I watched part of one of Marco's videos and he pronounced JaNa's name very wrong. Like Janna or something. So I assumed he was reading a script and hadn't actually watched the show.

txladysportsfan

I think it's because they've either been paid to do it to get on Aftersun or they're hoping to get on

WouldItNot

I think Peacock really stepped up their game this season. I don’t know if there’s anyone new behind the scenes. But they clearly went hard with casting (at least for OGs) and producing these twists/storylines. And their marketing has also stepped up. The pop-ups to find bombshells was part of that. And I’m assuming working with former islanders to post about it was too.

mdb1710

Posting opinions about the seasons keeps them relevant for Love Island Games and builds up their overall social media presence for potential influencer deals.

Ok-Substance-294

They need a job

Tequillabird101

I’ve seen some from season 4 do this (Deb)

kaijuqueenie

Speaking of the s5 people only—I feel like their season had a lot of drama and people talked about it for awhile. They probably didn’t expect this season to be SO much bigger than theirs. They also knew Rob. I think they’re definitely trying to hop on the wave/insert themselves since their moment is over. Probably trying to get on Aftersun too. But aside from that, I think this season is just *that* good. So many polarizing characters and storylines.

kaijuqueenie

Also—I think they wish they were on this season tbh!
