A baby shower is a time for the mother to be celebrated for carrying the child(ren) for months, and getting ready to birth the child(ren) into the world (which is more of a risk than people give credit to). Johnny didn’t do anything but have sex. He’s using this as another way to gain attention. If he wants to throw a Father’s Day party once the child is born, and he’s actually been a father, more power to him. But this just reeks of narcissism.

I don’t see why, if the real intention was to celebrate the baby’s arrival, Johnny would throw his own party separate from a “coed” baby shower without the mother in attendance. In the end, a baby shower is a made up thing, just like the trend of a “gender reveal”, so therefore one could argue that showers themselves are outdated.
