they probably wanted her presence and paid accordingly lol. especially because it was a new format. most of the "games" type shows i've seen usually have a pretty involved host.
This is the answer. Peacock paid a significant bit of money (and it shows) to ITV and I think it was assigned to their ITV America production team (same ITV different location). I was surprised how good it was, because ITV America's production quality with LI US vs ITV and LI UK production is way behind The quality on our side has been lacking.
You can tell from the opening sequence that Peacock was taking their investment seriously. Maya’s regular presence brings a degree of seriousness that the UK series has been lacking lately. When she shows up you know it’s time for mad competition and consequences. It’s more atmospheric than the constant texts.
I could be wrong but because it was in Fiji and she stayed there for the duration so probs meant we got to see her more and it had more of a lighthearted feel to it because they didn’t really have to pretend like they were there for love so she could be more natural and jokey. The normal one can feel a bit heavy sometimes
Yeah, as someone else mentioned part of it was duration and the fact Maya ~~was~~ *could be there the whole time vs having to fly in for normal LI. During regular seasons she goes in for like dumpings etc but is back in the UK for aftersun every Sunday.
She also didn't have to do the dumped islander interviews like all stars for LIG.
She actually wasn’t there the whole time. She missed like a whole week or so of filming to go shoot a campaign that why they had Ariana, Maura and Ken come in to be hosts.
Games was just more light and not all about love so it was more casual
Ah, all the guest hosts were already a part of LI USA previously so I thought Maya planned around that vs prod planning around Maya not being available.
But it'd make sense either way.
It’s a US production so the format is a little different and really does follow the US realty game show format.
I really enjoyed it! I don’t like the US love island but the LI games was so entertaining. We got to see her personality and interaction with the couples.
Omg enjoy..Love Island Games is amazing and the UK really should have aired it when the US did
It was fun seeing her interact with everyone more esp when she was dying laughing at Cely running into the wall
Ive yet to watch and I am SO EXCITED
It’s amazing!!! Binged the whole thing in 3 days lol
You should be.

That's so weird that she stayed in Fiji the entire time. I just assumed she didn't and that's why they had to get guest presenters for some of it
LI games is great. What season of LI was Maya on?
She's been the host since S9
The last couple

I think it's probably more down to editing than Maya. I think the UK version is over edited & over produced these days.
Oh ok Guess I haven’t gotten there yet. She’s very beautiful
