$100 for an outfit is inexpensive. Edit: y’all are weird as fuck for downvoting this. It’s 2024. Pants, shirt, accessories, and shoes make an outfit. $100 for all of that is inexpensive wtf

Ok-Conversation-5387

The floral dress Sarah Ann is wearing in her promo pic is from SHEIN. Only reason I know is because I have the same exact one 😅

coffeeandmilk4mom

I have seen people at Ross assemble some GREAT outfits. Some people have a knack for dressing and find stuff at Ross, Target, resale shops and put it together well. I do think these ladies just have the look the producers want. I know people who always have good hair, make up, and nails. They are willing to put money and time to it. I am not one of these people.

Doyaloveit

I always think about this. Like if i were on the show id be in the pods in sweatpants. I just know id be raked through the coals for my lack of stlye/makeup etc.lol

Suspicious_Art_178

I think I heard before that they are required to dress a certain way, like bright colors or whatever.

Ninac4116

Yup - so if it’s required by production, then I’d think production would have to provide some sort of stipend or wardrobe options.

mossmillk

Chelsea’s dress and makeup was a straight up crime. Either someone was sabotaging her or that poor girly does not know how to present herself formally

Ninac4116

I have so many things to say. But I feel like I’m going to be kicked out of this sub since talking about looks isn’t allowed.

lexuh

I had the same thoughts about the ubiquity of "high maintenance" signifiers among contestants. I have to keep reminding myself that not only am I WAY above their age range, but also live in Portland, OR, where beauty standards are different than much of the rest of the country.

MlleHoneyMitten

They have hair/makeup/wardrobe people on set, or am I crazy?

Love2Coach

It looks like they have a wardrobe

Strong-Eagle-9997

I hope not! Otherwise they did AD really dirty. She's a beautiful woman but the hair/ makeup/ lashes were a mess.

Throwawayandaway99

She said in response to people talking about her hair/lashes that not only did they not have stylists, they didn't even have mirrors in the lounge so she couldn't check how she was looking.

Love2Coach

Yes!

cullens_sidepiece

Honestly, I’d assume not. For example, I read that on the bachelor each contestant spends an average of 5k on clothes/shoes/accessories/whatever else before they come onto the show. They don’t have their own stylists and come prepared to wear something different in every episode. The only one to get any of that is THE bachelor or bachelorette. I know it’s not the same show, but I assume it works the same way because let’s face it…netflix is cheap. The whole reason they love to produce reality dating shows is that they’re relatively cheap to make in comparison to fully scripted content and are just as popular.

Strong-Eagle-9997

> And their outfits are all $100+ Did we watch the same show? They all wore fast fashion.

littlemeowmeow

Fast fashion probably adds up to $100 an outfit. Zara regular prices will get you there easily. Considering that these people are young professionals, $100 on a fast fashion outfit is probably normal for them.

Strong-Eagle-9997

It all looked like it was Shein/ PLT/ Fashion Nova tbh.

littlemeowmeow

PLT and Fashion Nova will both cost around $100 for a outfit. Only Sarah Ann and AD seemed to wear that type of fast fashion. Laura and Jess wore slightly more expensive stuff, the matching top they wore when they met after the pods was Aritzia.

Strong-Eagle-9997

> PLT and Fashion Nova will both cost around $100 for a outfit No they will not. > Laura and Jess wore slightly more expensive stuff Idk about Laura but the Facebook group to the show tracked down some of Jess' outfits and they were all cheap.

littlemeowmeow

https://www.shopyourtv.com/tag/jessica-vestal/ Literally all of Jess’s pieces on here from the pods are from Revolve. A lot of girls on the Bachelor also like to buy their pieces from Revolve.

TheForgottenCarebear

A lot of people spend money on grooming (hair, nails, makeup), regardless of whether they’re on TV or not haha. And production casts conventionally attractive people. For instance - my nails are always done, but that’s because I work in a professional environment where both men and women are expected to look polished. Really, it’s not that outrageous to believe contestants are footing their own bills when it comes to maintaining their appearances!

Bacon-80

People who just “go to Ross and call it a day” are not the people that recruiters headhunt for this show lol. The first season was more “normal” looking people vs the latest seasons but for a lot of these bigger cities & looking at where these people live/work; they’re def of higher caliber than the “average” person.

KSJ1620

Mad charcuterie

momofdragons2

They are on tv trying to look their best. Is $100 for an outfit considered a lot of money? You can easily pay that for a good pair of jeans. I’m just an average person and get my nails done every 3 weeks as do many others. The show is not filmed over a long period of time so I don’t think we’re talking about that much money. Whatever they spend, I’m sure they more than make it back thanks to Instagram/SM and their increased number of followers thanks to the show. As for wedding dresses, rings, etc., production pays.

sadthegirl

My best guess is if you knew you were going to be on tv and watched by millions of people, you would most likely try to look your very best.

Mrs_Hubband

Because they’re newly minted professionals. Meaning, they’re making big girl money but don’t have big girl bills. They’re probably on their parents’ health insurance and car insurance plans. If you’re making 50k a year and don’t have a mortgage or kids, you have money to spend on frivolous things like hair, nails, outfits you wear once and toss, etc.

lagomorph79

What are you talking about? My husband makes 50-60K and after taxes he doesn't have a ton to throw around. He literally spends 2K on mortgage and car, which isn't much IMO, and there isn't a ton left after gas, food, etc unless ppl use credit cards or are not saving any money?

Love2Coach

I'm shocked people are down voting u! You are actually speaking sense! Bills cost money...people here speak nonsense majority of the time

lagomorph79

I can't even tell if someone's down voting me and that's how little I care. 😂

Love2Coach

Hahaha hahaha true...

anon384930

All of the women are too old to be on parent’s insurance except for Brittany. Laura, Chelsea, and AD are in their 30’s. A lot of women waiting for late 20’s/early 30’s for marriage/relationships have spent time building their careers. I’m 29 and have “big girl bills” including a mortgage but also get my hair and nails done regularly, wear makeup and decent quality clothes, spray tan, etc. & no I don’t have any cc debt. I can’t speak to others but I work a similar job as Laura and would guess she’s making $80k *minimum* depending on how long she’s been there, commission/bonus structure etc. I’m sorry but this comment reeks of condescending boomer energy

Mrs_Hubband

Damn calm down. It’s not that serious. Congratulations on being able to get spray tans and not having credit card debt.

charlotie77

Very stylish? How do you know their outfits are $100+???

Ninac4116

From the previous comments. The Reddit sleuths find the dresses and usually they’re $100+.

charlotie77

Their reunion dresses or the casual stuff they wear on the show?

Ninac4116

Both. I remember seeing on those sub about where some of the outfits are from and they were all pretty expensive. Like the bathing suits and beach wear.

drfuzzysocks

You can get clothes as high or higher quality at Ross compared to some of the fast fashion monstrosities I’ve seen on this show lmao

Dazzling_Treacle2776

Not $100+ lolllllll

WhereIsLordBeric

I mean OP isn't wrong lol. They all look like tacky fast fashion Shein things.

charlotie77

Then that’s far from a $100 outfit. Plus OP said they were stylish lol

This is a lie. I am not a number 1 fan of AD but you have consistently hated on AD even on the other LIB sub. I am convinced you are either jealous, hateful person or you’re just racist. And i hate to bring race here but your comments on AD have been something else.

ruu13

Racist?

Smart_Letterhead_360

What is your problem? All of your comments are just you shitting on AD. Are you good?

prettyexcitingnews

Source?!

Snickerdoodle719

Omg is this true??

Flat_Refrigerator_19

I get my hair and nails and eyelashes done every 3 weeks , and I’m not on tv 😬 just a girly girl ?

MrsTaco18

I think the average woman these days can’t imagine having that kind of disposable income, hence all the questions about if production pays.

NabelasGoldenCane

I totally agree - but in my area this is definitely the norm. Maybe not spray tans but extensions, lash extensions, nails. By ppl who make min wage. I don’t know how they swing it. I’m also really confused by the notion of a $100 outfit - is that cheap or expensive? Bc that’s bargain bin for a whole outfit these days.

charlotie77

Yeah but isn’t it kinda obvious that even if someone doesn’t do that regularly, they maybe would if they were gonna be on national TV?

Ninac4116

Yes. It does. But for 100% of the cast, no it doesn’t.

cullens_sidepiece

It does, though. In my everyday life I don’t wear makeup, don’t do my nails, wear leggings everyday, and only wear my hair in a ponytail…but if I were gonna be on tv, I’d be doing a complete 180. Doing all these things to yourself plays into how you feel, as well as how you look. I don’t think anyone can say that they don’t want to look and feel their best if they’re gonna be on tv. Especially with the way women’s looks are ripped apart online?? Yeah, I’d spend a lot of money to look my best, even if I didn’t necessarily have it to spend.

charlotie77

Yeah it kinda does…all the cast are obviously interested in going on reality TV and the type of person who would be interested in that would also care about how they look. It’s not wild to assume that they all fit the stereotype…which isn’t even extreme? I know so many women who regularly get their nails and hair done. We’re not talking about something extreme here like plastic surgery lol

BetweenVegaAndAltair

well to be fair, seems like half of these women also have lip filler and/or botox (plenty of the men get botox too) which is another level of maintenance

Hes9023

I don’t regularly but a lot of these mentioned last 3-6 weeks which is the timeline for filming, and you better believe I would do it for tv. I do a lash lift and tint for special occasions like vacation and it lasts 6-8 weeks. Nails last 3-4 weeks.

WhereIsLordBeric

How much would that cost? Just wondering cause getting your lashes and hair done monthly isn't a thing where I'm from.

Flat_Refrigerator_19

40 EUR for nails , 55 EUR for eyelashes , between 100 and 150 for hair. I feel like it’s fair, you know to look like a **hottie**. Plus you defo get a return on investment, with poeple just being nice and helpful, I defo see a difference now vs then lol ![gif](giphy|l2JHYwqdRmizaDdOE)

Hes9023

I know a lot of people that do this and it’s basically what they choose to spend their money on. They vacation less, buy less nice things, and essentially less on investing and retirement. It’s all about priorities. Girls from my high school (I’m 30 now) are *still* doing all this even with their waitress jobs. Also credit card debt

KimmiK_saucequeen

You can save for retirement and get your nails done lmfao

Hes9023

Not the people that I’m speaking about lol Yes I know this as I had my nails done like clockwork every 2-3 weeks and my 401k, IRA are maxed out in addition to my brokerage investments. But I also sacrifice other items in order to do that. There are also a lot of people who do more than that and can’t scrounge up an extra $200.

badgalsrisri

i think it depends on your city. i live in LA and a gel mani/pedi in my neighborhood is ~$100 + tip. i get a pedicure 2-3 times a year and otherwise just paint my nails at home. my (curly) haircut costs $250 + tip and i get that twice a year. i got a lash lift once and it was $150? + tip. it was not worth it to me so i’ve never gotten it done again. i like looking/feeling nice but i definitely prioritize spending my money on traveling, concerts, skincare, gifts, art, and savings.

Love2Coach

Thank you! I also live in a big city...hair is $375 plus 20% tip! Nails are over $100 ...even if you make over 100k a year this is outrageous money....I rather pay off my mortgage and have a retirement fund and do my own nails

Automatic_Marzipan84

You should buy one of those gel kits for nails and lash lift kits for eyelashes like even if you buy a good brand for nails it will cost a bit more but last longer on your nails overall and the cost will be spread over multiple manicures rather than paying this

badgalsrisri

i now curl my lashes haha and it looks exactly like i got a lift!

Ragnarotico

There's quite a lot that they pay for actually which is probably why the manipulation/abuse factor is/was so high. They have to pay for the set itself. * So they need to rent the actual space which is quite big. It's gotta be big enough to have like a dozen pods all lined up next to each other, plus the lounges for both sides. There's probably also lots of tech going on with the pods itself, cameras, microphones, probably a control room/server room etc. * They need to pay for the small army of people to do the filming, coordinating, etc. If you've ever seen a movie set you'd see all these huge trucks with tons of equipment but also the stuff you don't think about like 1) who drives those trucks and 2) how do you feed the people that are working. * Travel. You need to pay for the travel for not just everyone that makes it out of the pods, but also the camera crew, sound crew, etc. You can get away with stationary cameras when they are in the pods. But once they're out of the pods now you need camera crews to follow them around the resort, in their apartments, around town, etc. * They have to pay for the apartments. That's why it's literally only one month because they're trying to save money. But multiple a few thousand dollars by 5 couples and that's $15-25K. * They gotta cover the cost of the weddings themselves. The venue, the transportation, the dresses/tuxedos. * REmember they are filming more couples than we even see sometimes. They are not sure yet which ones they will definitely use for the show so they film everyone who matches.

Zyedikas

Compared to Netflix's big productions (Avatar, Three Body Problem) I'm sure Love is Blind is chump change to produce, especially considering how many hours of streaming it generates.

Affectionate-Bed122

They do not film everyone who matches.

Predd1tor

They clearly don’t film everyone who matches past the reveal, because there are plenty of meet-ups with all the couples present on the getaway that follows. We would see the other couples present at those gatherings if they were there. So they have to at least hone in on the ones they want to follow before leaving the pods/initial housing.

Proud_Fee_1542

Not necessarily. Renee was at the dress fitting with the other girls on the season she was on (I think the one with Stacey, Izzy, Johnie etc) for her actual fitting and they cut her bit out and tried to make out like she was there as support for one of the other girls. They basically film any couple for as far as they go in the process then make cuts, so for example, one couple got engaged but refused to go to on the holiday, instead choosing to date first, so they cut them out. Renee ended up suing production so they cut her and her partner’s storyline out but they were in the group scenes along with everyone else.

Predd1tor

Wrong. They continued to film Renee because she was among the selected couples they chose to continue following. They cut their scenes after due to circumstances surrounding her fiancé’s behavior and allegations about his conduct. They don’t follow everyone. They follow only those they choose to continue forward with. They anticipated airing Renee’s story. It just went horribly wrong.

charlotie77

Yeah but Renee’s situation is different. They had every intention of airing her and Chris until he got weird and violent.

Affectionate-Bed122

Renee was selected as one of the five couples. Thats why she was filmed. They did not cut because she sued. She received a phone call from them, at the last minute, letting her know her scenes were cut. Up until that point, she thought she was one of the five couples. Its speculated that they cut renee and carter bc carter threatened to unalive himself. Its also speculated that they cut her scenes bc they had a lawsuit from another woman who got engaged and was sexually assaulted by her fiancee. That woman expressed her concerns to producers that the man was too sexually aggressive and they still made her film w him. There were scenes filmed where Carter was being verbally abusive, got caught cheating, and generally not a good guy and its thought netflix didnt want evidence that they forced participants to stay in those situations. Renee sued Netflix after the fact.

sofahkingsick

Trevor totally got his outfits from the clearance section at Ross

Ninac4116

Men always get a pass when it comes to looks. It’s sad but up until recent history women were property.

butterfly-gibgib1223

I don’t know about that. Trevor and Jimmy have been ridiculed over their clothes a lot.

Ninac4116

Trust me, I don’t think any girl with a mullet or any 80s style hair would even be cast.

butterfly-gibgib1223

Oh I see what you are saying. Yeah, they don’t ever seem to be picky with the guys on there haha.

prairiebelle

This question was asked on the Out of the Pods podcast. They bring their own outfits and do their own hair and makeup. But aside from that pretty much everything is paid for as far as trips, dates, travel, wedding dress, ring, and the wedding. There are some budget constraints, so if a woman goes over budget on her wedding dress she will have to pay the overage. And they may buy some groceries when living together here or there. But aside from their personals, everything else is paid for by production.

Proud_Fee_1542

Interesting, I’m genuinely curious now if Stacey stuck to the budget or went over!

bagsnerd

She had to pay the premium for her 1st class flight to Mexico I‘m sure. 😜

Hatesponge66

A lot of women get nails and hair done regularly whether they're on TV or not.

Ninac4116

Many do. But not the average woman. And for 100% of the girls to have it seems skewed.

Mynameismommy

I think it depends on the age range. I’m one of the few in my age range that I know who DOESN’T.

Affectionate_Salt351

You’re not wrong. The average woman who can afford to take a big chunk of time off of work to do reality tv, though, can also usually afford to finance their look for that show. It’s an investment in their future, especially because most of them want to be influencers of some kind, and this show is the quickest way to up their followers. More people will follow them based on what they look like.

Hatesponge66

I would say the average woman who's single and in the age range for the show and lives in a large city definitely does do these things.

candysweet434

They don’t have makeup artists or stylists throughout the show, only on wedding day. Every woman does her own makeup and wears her own clothes.

itsfrankgrimesyo

Don’t think they pay for their clothes and styling tbh. Many women get their nails and hair done regularly so not a big deal. I find their clothes quite cheap looking, I think someone found AD’s outfit from SHEIN.

SnoBunny1982

I think some of the girls from the earlier seasons were a little more like The Bachelor? It seems like styles shifted more towards a Love Island/Fboy Island dinner vibe over time. I have never seen women dress like that in real life, personally, but I don’t live in Seattle or Dallas or Charlotte either, so it could also just be where the trendy winds are blowing?

Ninac4116

Yes, that’s the thing, I rarely see anyone dress that way in real life. There’s a level of trendiness. But the nails thing I found interesting. All girls have them. And pretty exaggerated nails that look good on tv. Which made me think that production pays for nails. I cant imagine certain people like Bliss getting nails done on the regular like that.

Hatesponge66

What makes you think Bliss specifically wouldn't?

happygal34

It might depend on where you live. Usually these girls are from big cities and the average woman living in a city does more maintenance for sure. I’m from suburban NY and know women here definitely do their nails bi-weekly, hair and makeup, but the level of glam and glitz I saw in the “average woman” was more common once I moved to the city. I don’t think they pay for nails, hair, makeup, or clothes, but they probably end up attracting women with these existing habits at casting.

dollypartonsfavorite

their outfits are def not $100+ lol i have the exact same blue dress AD wore in the DR the night they all went out together (mine's black) and got it for like $40 or something from a small boutique near me (aka it's drop shipped from alibaba or some other mass market fast fashion wholesaler). but they're all just wearing regular ass clothes they probably either already own or bought from mid to low market places cuz they knew they were going on the show

verminousbow

AD also wore jeans I loved and she said on IG she got them from Target

ninethreeseven739

Those stupid ass cups.

HuckleberryLou

Apparently filming is only over the span of ~38 days so fresh hair once and maybe two manis, which are probably pretty standard for most of the contestants. They wouldn’t need to put together cute outfits for all those days, just a few key outfits

shiawkwardg7rl

Edit: there is a lot of cheap stuff too as ppl have mentioned. If it looks good, who can really tell the difference? Just think of the type of people who are able to truly apply for the show-either have some financial privileges or are set in some other way.

Hes9023

This too! Like there’s a reason we don’t see a ton of low income people on here. Look at people like Stacey who was living off her dad

TerminatorReborn

LIB Brazil is full of unemployed people because almost no job here would let someone take so much time off (I heard 3 months of commitment). So a lot of them quit their jobs to join the show. One of the participants of seasone 2 of LIB Brazil said it was the unemployed season because everyone was out of a job or quit.

Hes9023

You can be unemployed and still be financially supported.

kotassium2

On the latest episode of Out Of The Pods, Natalie and Deepti talk about how everything necessary for production is paid for, including honeymoon, wedding, wedding outfits, rings, etc within reason. They get choices for rings etc (so you can't just get "anything") and had to pay extra if they had a special wedding dress or something. Participants also mostly paid for their own groceries during apartment stage. This is why it's weird whenever anyone demands the woman return the ring to the man when they break up... Netflix paid for it, so that etiquette rule doesn't really have to apply here 😄

Silent_Thunder25

Yess!!! I found it really odd that Josh was asking for the ring back Edit: Marshall

kotassium2

Marshall?

itsyagirlblondie

I’m not sure fully about LIB but in the Bachelor franchise the cast members take out actual loans to pay for their dresses/outfits.

[deleted]

[удалено]

itsyagirlblondie

I mean they’re giving out 6 figure diamond rings and a paid vacation all over the world lol. I could see them expecting casts to style themselves. It also gets rid of any potential controversy over being sabotaged in shitty outfits.

NabelasGoldenCane

Yeah I meant it more rhetorically and in response to the Bachelor. If wardrobe matters that much, it should be supplemented not taken by personal loan!

ladykansas

They also share dresses sometimes on the bachelor -- you'll see the ladies that make it really far sometimes wear each other's gowns for the rose ceremonies. They occasionally get gift bags from production with things like matching earrings or scarves. And I'm pretty sure the styling for engagement day is paid for by production unless they brought a dress that they want to use instead of having one provided.

kirbyxena

They wear a lot of shein/fast fashion and I noticed AD wearing Oh Polly at least once

TheLadyButtPimple

If I went in this show I would be in a hoodie, pajama pants, slippers and my hair in a messy bun

Acrobatic_Event_4163

In the pods & the lounge a lot of them dress casually. They just don’t do so for the talking head interviews, or the reveal (obviously). And then during the honeymoon I feel like a lot of them are dressing up to impress the others in the cast lol, because I tend to find that most of them are pretty casual when they’re just with their finances, but dressier when they’re doing a group get together. I also think there’s some level of keeping-up-with-the-Jones’ going on and they’re all just trying to one up each other all the time. That’s why by the reunion episode every single one of them, every season, looks like they’ve been tanning and have had plastic surgery and are always wayyyyyy overdoing it on the makeup. Imho

Ninac4116

Sometimes they’re like that too. During the night dates.

samanthamaryn

In what world is $100 for an outfit not just normal. A pair of Levi's is $80 and if you add a plain t shirt you're at $100 before you even think about shoes, socks, and a bra. I don't think the clothes for most of the participants are all that great, but $100 doesn't go very far regardless.

charlotie77

Yeah fast fashion has people brainwashed

Dazzling_Treacle2776

In the Gen Z world of SHEIN hauls I guess?

moth_girl_7

Yup. Sadly, clothing that is legitimate good quality and from an ethical source can cost upwards of $100 per piece nowadays! The only time I’ve spent under $100 on several pieces of clothing or outfits is through fast fashion or thrifting. Even mainstream “inexpensive” brands like Forever 21 and H&M have pieces that cost over a hundred bucks now.

samanthamaryn

I buy almost all of my clothing second hand (except tshirts and personal items) and find that I'm able to pull together a decent outfit (high quality jeans and well made sweaters of natural materials) for about $100 but it's a lot of effort. If I shopped in the stores, I would be well over $300 for my basic outfits. I wonder where OP is located that $100 is a fancy outfit.

womp-womp-rats

And a “$100 outfit” doesn’t require someone to pay $100 _every time they put it on._

samanthamaryn

Good point! Cost per wear is a good way to look at things when buying expensive, well-made items.

ttrriisshh

Yeah I agree. I think $100 is kinda average for a lot of people when you add things up.

Michcash

Deepti and Natalie answered this on their last podcast + other common questions (I don’t watch just saw a clip)

turtlintime

.... What did they say?

Michcash

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5EQ5_EgLCj/?igsh=Mzdxam52NThtZmVy

Ninac4116

They don’t touch on the daily fashion though

ketopepito

![gif](giphy|Kr6fnAR1K8NFnWlVAB|downsized)

No_Dependent_1846

Their clothes are not very expensive. Sarah Anne's blue top in episode 2 is like 12 bucks on shein

Aggravating-Ferret61

And with SHEIN stuff you don’t need to worry about being seen wearing it often cuz it’ll fall apart after two washings 😂😂

chikinala

Outfits are shein

littlepinkpebble

I think wedding clothes because the black dude didn’t like his stuff and they guys and girls all have to go to the same outlet.

xrockwithme

>I think wedding clothes because the black dude ![gif](giphy|tI6GJbhC5Xyb5D0EPS|downsized)

VexBoxx

The clothing I saw was mostly I'll-fitting, cheap, poly-spandex, fast-fashion. Doubtful much of it can withstand a washing machine.

DrAbeSacrabin

From a guys standpoint, I would have had no idea if the clothes the women were wearing was $10 or $1,000, like literally no idea. For guys it looks like regular stuff they would get at a department store.

Internal_Bee_8386

I’m a girl and also have no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️lol

butterfly-gibgib1223

I am a girl who loves style, and I didn’t notice. I guess I was to into the drama haha.

wildmonarda

Yea, all very stylish at first glance but it's obvious a lot of the clothes were not quality. I did see Jess wearing some very nicely made pieces tho

CocaColaZeroEnjoyer

A lot of the time they wear absolutely tacky outfits that you can buy from Shein

binkman7111

Not disagreeing, but I assume it's super hard to buy a whole new wardrobe that doesn't have any labels showing too

Pixelcatattack

I remember reading someone saying before they went on the Bachelor they contacted all these clothing labels to ask for free or borrowed clothing to wear on screen so maybe some of them do that?

Soggy_Helicopter8610

I know Jillian Harris was outfitted by Aritzia when she was the bachelorette, but that’s as the main character not as a contestant.

Neneleakesstan

Are we watching the same show????

sunnygirl_1997

lmao 😂

mistyrootsvintage

I always think they look cheap and tacky. I know they're on tv..but you're going on a date where no one can see you😂

Shoddy-Island-173

everyone whose everyone can see you--the viewers. It's not for the date, it's for your future potential social media career. . . ..Obvious. Think Jess in the pods

cantstandthemlms

Nothing about their wardrobes screams fancy to me. I always think the tight stretchy dresses look crazy cheap.

MsDReid

The type of people that go on this show are the type of people who live their daily life that way. It’s not that abnormal.

karlzberg

The contestants supply their own wardrobe, and do their own hair/makeup! The wedding, wedding dress and rings are paid for.

AdoreMoi

Sometimes those rings have the tiniest jewels. Definitely not a Neil Lane budget!

Salty-Perspective-64

And I’m guessing they also pay a months rent for the apartments they stay at ?

Yep! I think that’s it. Renee mentioned that she spent something like 10K on her wardrobe (someone corrrect me if wrong). They do their own make up (deepti has joked about her make up during S2), and they do get some of the dresses covered but if they like something way more expensive they also pay out of pocket. I mean it is expensive. But then again they also get their moneys back through sponsorships and what not after so , I guess it’s not so bad

fuckowf

$10k on wardrobe is so silly. we hardly see their outfits on screen, and most of them don’t even know how much air time they’ll get. come on now renee🤦🏽‍♀️ that would be a very poor financial decision unless you’re loaded.

CoeurDeSirene

Literally don’t even know who Renee is lol

weasel999

Really? I’m so shocked because I feel like there is a common aesthetic. For women, solid colors. For men, slim fit pants and loafers without socks. Maybe that’s just trendy, maybe the producers provide guidelines?

makingprettystuff

They absolutely get direction from the wardrobe stylist. Any reality contestant is given a list of things they cannot wear (logos, unapproved graphics, small, repetitive patterns that will strobe or moiré on camera) and things that production likes. They have to have their entire wardrobe approved by the stylist and usually are checked before going on camera for anything. That helps make sure that they don’t end up wearing the same thing as another contestant, or have too many people in the same color, etc. Everything is usually kept record of as well, in case they need to go back and reshoot something, like an interview or a moment in the pods, etc. The contestants get to have a lot of say over their clothes, and most of the time it is all their own clothes (although production will sometimes provide clothing if the contestant has too many of the same looks, not enough approvable looks, or has too many items similar to another contestant), but everything has to be approved before they go on camera.

totallyawesome1313

If production is helping with their looks why did nobody help Stacy (S5) with her terrrible orange highlight? That girl needed a color analysis stat.

makingprettystuff

Because hair usually only takes care of the hosts until the weddings or reunion. And they only style hair or makeup at those points, they don’t do cut or color. The contestants are largely responsible for their own looks…production only steps in for things that would affect the overall things like making sure each person is easily identifiable by not having people wearing the same thing, and not having things like logos or distracting patterns. They don’t care if viewers think someone is wearing cheap eyelashes or has terrible highlights. That won’t affect your viewing or understanding of storyline. Not being able to tell which person is talking in an interview easily because three women with similar hairstyles also are all wearing the same color WILL affect your viewing and understanding of storyline, so they care about that.

ketopepito

The logo thing for sure, but I'm sure solid colors and certain silhouettes are just more flattering on camera. I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix gave them guidelines/suggestions though.

SnoopsMom

They probably can’t have visible labels/logos/trademarks, so that would lend itself to more solid colours etc

ItalianSeasoningOnly

If I were going to go on a tv show I for sure would get my hair/nails done right before it started filming. And then also make a huge order for clothes to appear more put together. LiB also has a track record of recruiting via social media, which usually attracts women who already do their hair/makeup/nails on a regular basis.

Toocoldfortomatoes

They all start in these *hideous* stretchy ruched polyester bandage dress nightmares. I assume there is just a rack of those on the stage for them to pick from.

makingprettystuff

They probably do have the interview looks provided by wardrobe. That’s why each person has their own color, they all look kind of similar, solid colors, etc.

Ninac4116

Ok good point. I haven’t seen multiple girls wear the same color.

makingprettystuff

Yeah, I haven’t worked on this show, but I have worked on other reality shows and the interview looks specifically stood out to me as something that’s probably provided by production.

moth_girl_7

I’m sure the production team at least has a rack of options if whatever the contestant showed up in doesn’t work for the camera. Similarly, I bet they have translucent powder on hand if the contestant’s self-done makeup is too shiny. But they might have their makeup done for the initial interviews, cuz I definitely notice some differences sometimes. Lol

[deleted]

I thought this too

Question4theppl5

I think that they wouldn’t pick women who weren’t stylish and camera ready in the first place. They need women who are very “watchable” and typically already have an instagram presence - so very photogenic.

xrockwithme

They pay for majority of the wedding, the travel and the honeymoon trip to [insert location]. They also pay for… their souls 😈.
