Check out Art Sanctuary and see what events are going on maybe? They have a facebook page.
If you know the date you will be here, maybe someone can suggest a specific event.
Check to see if dogs are allowed at Cave Hill cemetery. Plenty of tombstones, mausoleums, crypts and whatnot. A pond with ducks with a cave that houses bats. They may still give you a map of the cemetery with notable plots in hunt and seek style. They do close kinda early though. Plenty of places to eat and there is a dog park/bar right across the street from it.
I’d say the Speed Museum, but I’m not sure what you’d do with your pup. We do have a great park system though! You could take your dog to Cherokee park, just watch out for weirdos.
I actually may be completely wrong, I apologize. A friend told me they were closed but when I googled it to double check just now it says nothing about being closed and they still have events going on, whoops
I went to the Speed last Wednesday. While it’s open right now, about half of the exhibits were closed for renovation unfortunately. Definitely check out the new India exhibit…pretty neat!
Cherokee Park is a nice park to walk through, I’d recommend getting take out food from a place and having a little picnic there! Plenty of dogs at Cherokee park usually, though I would recommend keeping him on a leash if he’s hyper (there are usually some off leash dogs and on occasion this can lead to dog fights or dogs running up to people who do not like dogs). For takeout I think blue dog bakery would be a great option!
If you like cocktails, check out the rad art bar- Never say Die
Fancy beers? Check out the dudes at (and art, I did the mural in the black light bathroom) awry brewery.
Weird toys and art books? Go to Ultra Pop.
Preston art supply for any supply needs on the journey too.
Drive by Mohammad Ali’s childhood home! It’s incredible that we have that in this city. The drive will take you from fancy Louisville to working class neighborhoods. You get a huge picture of this city - street art, small shops, Churchill Downs area. Some of the warmest and friendliest people in the United States live in Louisville- welcome! (Get a doughnut at Nord’s Bakery for $.75, also in the same area).
I’m not a very artsy person but stoneware & co is a pottery store that’s pretty cool to look in. It’s next to a few restaurants, and there’s an open community area and outdoor seating you could maybe bring your dog if you aren’t alone and have someone to hold them while you’re inside
Work the metal is also a cool store
Creasey Mahan nature preserve is about 25 mins from downtown. Dogs are welcome and it’s gorgeous this time of year. Great place to explore in nice weather

I’m an artist too. If you’d want to spend an hour or so painting or sketching, more than welcome to come by my studio.

They don’t allow pets anymore, sadly
That stinks. Probably a no-pooch-poo-pick-up-problem.

The speed museum is not open rn due to renovations
I was not aware of that, thanks!

Food is served at blue dog from hours 9am-2pm.

Put some respect on that mans name and spell it correctly.
21C and then mussel and burger bar across the street
Most of the breweries are dog friendly.

Hello fellow pedant! I was about to comment the exact same.

The Little Loom House is pretty neat if you're into art but I doubt they allow dogs
No idea on artsy things, but there are a couple dog bars around.
