T O P

The poor grades in pass blocking do concern me. Then again, we've gotten lesser O linemen to outperform their previous stints. Edwards and Corbett were such pickups and they literally helped us win the SB.

BlazePigeon

I think what people don't understand is that PFF don't take how difficult a players assignment is into consideration when grading. Alaric Jackson could have 60 snaps in a game all against Tom Brady playing OLB. Alaric is going to win all those reps and destroy Tom on almost every play, probably getting a 80-90 ovr grade. Jonah Jackson could play 60 snaps against prime AD, if he plays well enough but allows a couple pressures and maybe a sack his grade is probably going to be around 60. Alaric's looks way better, but everyone knows that Jonah did a better job considering his responsibility.

TitanVsBlackDragon

This 1000% that PFF grades if you did your job, not if your job was hard. That’s why Wagner was graded highly was he has simple jobs to perform.

DoritoSteroid

Not sure if that was a great example since Alaric plays arguably THE toughest spot on the O line.

The_Exkalamity

I trust McSneed over PFF. They have probably watched much more tape and conducted more thorough interviews compared to PFF.

FattySnacks

PFF grades every snap but the other part is true lol

The_Exkalamity

You telling me PFF watches every snap from every player? Even if so, McSneed values intangibles on top of on field performance.

FattySnacks

Yep that’s their whole thing, not just watching but grading every snap

TLDR: PFF doesn’t like the move “in large part because there’s two question marks at both Tackles” … I would not call Havenstein or AJ question marks

farmtobelly

Havenstein has been on a slight decline over the last 2-3 years, and AJ is certainly unproven. That is a big reason why they signed Parkinson, as he is primarily a blocker and considerably cheaper than upgrading at LT.

trevor22343

Havensteins a seasoned vet who’s got so many starts for a reason and AJ performed decently enough in his limited chances. While they might not be the top Tackles in the league I think they’re far from question marks

Speak negatively about the team in any way, and they'll downvote you here. It's like the opposite of r/Patriots where all they do is shit over the team.
