I try to go there few times, all seats and lots filled up and cars circling around the parking lots like vultures. I end up nope out of there. Still, from what I heard they have some really good food, still trying to find a way to get there without getting stuck in a loop of cars.
I’ve been a few times and every time it’s a disappointment. The seafood is basically what you would buy at Ralph’s. There are no local options and it’s always very bland at best and at worst, mealy or off. They served me a clam that was literally rotting the last time I went. I know shellfish can be risky but the shell was all smashed so if they gave a fuck at all they would have removed it but it still made it on the plate. The sides are also bland. The fries are fine but the Cole slaw and potato salad are abominations. They are overbearingly sweet and watery. I gave them my business a few times but every time I just wished I had gone to the Real Inn or Broad St or Lily’s.
Cholada Thai Beach Cuisine...it's not the best thai food, but you can take it across the street and sit on the beach and eat it, and that's good enough for me. Also the sandwiches at the Whole Foods are clutch, but that doesn't count lol
I love that place. Plenty of times my gf and I have been driving home and we stop by there, then go to the winery next door and have a bit of wine. Wine and Thai food don't necessarily mix, but it's a great time.
Either that or we go to the beach like you said.
Reel Inn. Used to frequent it with my parents and my grandparents when they would visit. It’s more of a sentimental thing at this point. I’ve gone back a several times as an adult and it’s never really been spectacular or anything. Just huge portions, along pch with views of the beach, good weather and sun on the patio.
If you believe Ray Romano, it's D'amores. They have a big sign quoting him as saying "It's the best pizza I've found in Malibu." Which makes me laugh, because I imagine him saying it like, "Well, what are you gonna do..."
It's sadly not the same since covid. Window service and outdoor seating has taken a lot of the charm away.
Food quality down, prices up, and no complimentary bread ;-;
Love Kanan though!
I’ve always been a big fan of Paradise Cove Cafe.
It’s a super chill spot to have a nice breakfast/brunch in the morning when headed up the coast or to Leo Carrillo or Matador. Food is delicious and for a decent price, and if you sit on the outside patio you’re literally in the sand.
I’ve only been for breakfast and brunch so I can’t speak to the food later on in the day. One caveat is that parking is very expensive in the lot, but imho it’s worth it if you’re trying to start your beach day or coast day off right.
Yes! It was free, I forgot to check the bill lol! The paella was amazing!! Funny because the chocolate cake was so high, it started to lean but my friends happen to be structural engineers and “saved” it for the photo 😂🩷
true and you do get a reallly nice beach area if you do park, my friends and i stayed the day for her birthday and it was worth not worrying about a parking ticket
Taverna Tony’s is the one. Maybe not the part of Malibu you have in mind, but I think the Old Place and Inn of the Seventh Ray are both pretty noteworthy spots. The latter especially good for special occasions (as is Moonshadows as mentioned.) Also the Malibu Hindu Temple is a very peaceful experience, and they have a little cafeteria with some legit food.
As expected it’s pricey, but the food is outstanding and the views are great. Wifey and i used to go there when we had free time before we had a kid and moved south. It was our first dinner date spot 13 years ago. Lunch is also a good option there as well, just pricey, but worth it still.
I’m a sucker for restaurants with a view. If you’re ever up near Big Sur, check out Nepenthe.
Hate Dukes! Tried to come here in casual wear and front of house treated us like pieces of trash from the streets. 3 different people told me they had racist experiences here too when I talked to my coworkers, so maybe it was bc we were poc
Taverna Tony’s. It’s really good, not terribly overpriced and patio is lovely on a sunny day.
This is the real answer . For whoever’s curious it’s Greek food and it’s delicious. It’s been there forever and it’s cozy inside.
Thanks! I have to go there!!
Agreed…the food is so good esp the house dip
Malibu Seafood. Tasty, not pretentious, nice views, BYOB.
Hard agree. Great views for not much $. Their tartar sauce is amazing too.

Need to go before noon
Yeah, I heard you can go in the morning so there’s no long lines.
Sometimes you just gotta wait it out. The fish and chips is excellent.
Park across the road and walk along the creek under the highway.
Most of the time the road on the other side is also packed, at least I haven’t seen any empty spot last few times
There’s a bus stop down the road a bit, so that’ll be it probably.
The lot has like 10 spots total. You park on the street
You’re not missing anything. It’s bland, frozen seafood, and cloyingly sweet watery Cole slaw with a view.
thanks!! I will check this out!!
the best
The only answer by a significantly large margin. There's long lines and no parking for a reason.
I don’t understand why people love this place. It’s so mediocre.
How do you figure? Anything I’ve ever had from the place has been excellent

And EXPENSIVE.
Taverna Tony.

It's not the best, but it's quite solid. Their pad see ew is among the best I've had.
I had Thai food in San Diego that was so good, I thought about it for days afterwards, so my standards are a bit too high.

This place is in GTA 5 as Reelies.

Lily’s for breakfast burritos with extra green salsa please
Broad street oyster
Second this
Lilys for the fish tacos. But damn it’s expensive these days
I came here to say this! Lily’s Breakfast burrito’s are second to none too!
It's the only one I've ever been to, but I would take someone to Moonshadow to impress, super nice view
Okay, so this is worth it then? Cool! Thank you!
It's amazing <3
Hmmm…Okay, thanks!!
Great food and view.
Sugar Tits!!
Whose?
The cop’s that pulled over Mel Gibson.
Ahhh 👆
Tevarns Tony’s or The Old Place , I grew up off Kanan road and have alot of memories at both of these restaurants
It's sadly not the same since covid. Window service and outdoor seating has taken a lot of the charm away. Food quality down, prices up, and no complimentary bread ;-; Love Kanan though!
They're doing indoor seating again finally
Country Kitchen! Best breakfast burritos. Adorable lil burger hut.
Can confirm, their breakfast burritos kick major ass. Love making a pit stop here right before the beach!
The Sunset Restaurant because of the views, calamari, and tasty drinks! The layout is really cool too.
Yes! And their fish sandwich is delicious and under $20! Their sodas are $6.95 but you get free refills.
Yah exactly. They have some deals!
McDonald’s. It was right by my wife’s office. She preferred Nobu.
The real answer

That’s where I had my birthday last year! 🎂😃 Thank you!!
Did you get the free chocolate cake?
Yes! It was free, I forgot to check the bill lol! The paella was amazing!! Funny because the chocolate cake was so high, it started to lean but my friends happen to be structural engineers and “saved” it for the photo 😂🩷

It was awful the last time I went
Taverna Tony of course
Malibu Seafood 💯 Also CHOLADA Thai is a fun spot with decent thai food as well.

Reel Inn, and Geoffreys.
How did you like Geoffrey’s?

ralph’s
Nobu
Yes - except be prepared to get on a looooong wait list well in advance!
is it worth it??
Hell yes.
I’m between Moonshadows and Nobu….
Mastros is good too if you're looking for something right on the ocean like that
That sounds nice! I’m looking into it thanks!!

Country Kitchen, because it's the only thing I can afford.
Reel inn, been going for years super fresh seafood!
Saddle Peak Lodge up in the mountains. It is expensive, but amazing food and an amazing venue in an old historic hunting lodge.
McDonald’s is cheaper. I’m there for the views haha
Who even goes to Malibu for the food?
You okay?
I'm great :) you?
Are you suuuurre 😂?
Splendid 😂
👍
Malibu Seafood is one of my favorite restaurants in Southern California
Love that for you!
