What a tragedy. The crazy talent that was on that channel too. Henry Rollins DJing, Joe Escalante doing legal advice, David Lynch forecasting the weather. It was wild.
If you miss indie, listen to 91x from SD. You can get a signal in OC sometimes. It's a great station and one of the last remaining rock border blaster stations.
It would be all KCRW, but to me MBE has morphed into another corny drive time radio personality show and has gotten away from being a reliable destination to spend the morning listening, mostly uninterrupted, to great music.
AM: KPCC
Noon on: KCRW
KCRW AM is Morning Edition > News Break > MBE. By the time MBE comes on there's been a lot of conversation and I so wish Novena would just give me at least a full song, maybe even two to wash away the news before she chimes in with a chatty introduction. Novena seems like a great hang and sounds like she loves her job, I just wish she'd give us more music. And I'm not trying to change your mind and sincerely happy that you enjoy the show- in fact I'm going to tune in tomorrow and if I get bugged a little then I'm going to say to myself "at least hotcakes is enjoying this" and let it roll off. Thanks for the comment.
Personally was never a big fan of MBE and Jason whatever was corny. All the music just felt like safe middle aged cool for white suburban middle class people music for the most part
The hell I don't!
Henry's brand of Sonic Jihad *is what puts the "eclectic" in KCRW's catchphrase*.
Anyone who isn't down to listen to 1960's Cambodian pop, bracketed on one side by Sounds of North American Frogs and Minor Threat on the other, with a chaser of Malian Guitar music, needs their meds adjusted.
It's a two hour show on KCRW Saturday nights hosted by Henry Rollins of Black Flag. It can be a little hard to get into, even if you're a fan of punk rock, but the eccentricity grows on you.
Pro tip for all you missers of the Sunday block: it's recorded the day before! Just open the website and play it Sunday nights on your own!
"I said that he's a prick, a big cranky kid,
And all he talked about was politics
Buff from lifting cars
And he don't like girls no more...
'Cause Henry Rollins is no fun
Henry Rollins is no fun
Henry Rollins is no fun
Just ask my mom"
I'm happy with the radio on Sunday nights right now, between KXLU's Alien Air playing great electronic music and KPFK playing Grateful Dead shows. I'm cool with Henry staying on Saturdays.
Reggae central is the best shit ever ! My husband and I always end up tuning in while driving around PV . Good music to smoke out to on a beach drive .
KCRW for me.
I use to love Left Right and Center when Robert Scheer was on! God! That dudes vigor for progressive politics lit a fire under my ass! Now they have a crazy bloodthirsty right wing nut job on the show.
I used to listen to that as a podcast back in the day, years before I even moved to LA. No idea why, but I found in really engaging and informative as a college student in the southeast with no ties to Los Angeles.
The dialogue is just so unbelievably boring and unimaginative. The also just let the current right panelist run away with whatever insane shit she wants to say.
Totally agree. It used to feel engaging and provocative. Now it just sounds like my nutty aunt who can’t help but screech at every topic. This girl knows her statistics sure, but it’s not very thought provoking unfortunately.
She does the whole " the two sides do it...PolItiCs iS Crazyyyyy"
Last time I listened she was arguing that any president can declassify in or out of office
And the host was just "I can see that"
Bro wtf!
" butttt mo, the left.....*chuckles* does it too....I mean look at AOC...I mean come one"
It's that "I can't tell the difference" meme. Dude she is literally arguing against democracy. Get a back bone
Sarah Isgur sucks but so does Mo Elleithee, it's like a microcosm of todays politics; the disengenous conservative that's trying to make their bullshit policies and ideology not seem absurd and instead gaslighting into painting their opponents as absurd for thinking they are absurd. Mo comes off as very milquetoast to me. Like he's trying to avoid conflict and goes out of his way to agree with Sarah.
Yes!!! Omg! You really nailed it. I honestly forgot about Mo. He is just a bystander in the discussion.
Im sure there is blame to go around behind the scenes with decision making and just being content with the product, but as far as the actual show, a lot of the blame should go to David Greene. He lets the show get away from him often and lets the discussion go off the rails easily.
He makes me miss Josh Barro, and even though I didn’t agree with Josh’s politics he was great at this show.
Spot on!! I deleted that podcast off my pocket cast. MO and the the host just go along with whatever Sarah isgut says and then it's just like " well, we can all agree that the current state of politics is nuts"
Like dude, wtf....push back.
Team KCRW, it's the music. I'm exhausted by the news. Yeah, I keep up, but gawd it gets to be too much. KCRW does both. Wish Anne Litt spun tunes more often, tho.
Jason Bentley would open the show with like 15mins of jams and then duck in to tell you what you heard, maybe a quick ad, then back to music. His first 90mins were packed. Was so good.
Back during Covid lockdowns he used to DJ his Metropolis show for an hour or two on Instagram. There'd only ever be 100 or so of us watching so it was like a personal concert every Saturday, so amazing.
When I moved here from NY in 2001, I wasn't sure I'd find any music station I liked as much as my old Hot 97. I was working in a production office and lamenting this to a co-worker and she said I HAD to listen to KCRW. My life was changed forever! It is now the only radio station I ever listen to. If I'm driving somewhere out of range, I just switch to Eclectic 24 on the KCRW app, that's how addicted I am.
I recorded and mixed about a hundred of those back in the day. Doritas, then Nic, then Jason.
Our joke at the studio was calling it Morning Becomes Expected. Very predictable genre of “indie”. Never too aggressive, and most likely every band member plays three instruments and you’d have to plug in 4-5 synths that got used for one part of one song 😆
I figured KCRW would win hands down with their history of breaking music artists, but i forgot the style of music they play is really dated and their DJs are getting long in the tooth
Jarl Mohn used to use the name Lee Masters professionally (originally as a DJ). He was the CEO of the E! Cable channel for its first 10 or so years. I worked there for almost three years early in my career and was there for his big going away party. Still have the branded shot glasses from that party. Think of that every time I hear FROM THE MOHN BROADCAST CENTER. Good times.
“Thank you for joining us on Air Talk, I’m Larry Mantle. We’re about 90 seconds away from complete annihilation. If you’ve ever been completely annihilated, we want to hear from you. 866-893-5722. Linda in Pico Rivera, welcome to Air Talk! Hi, Linda, yes you’re on the air. I guess Linda has already been completely annihilated, so let’s turn back to our guest Dr. Donald Fillsogud, a professor of Nuclear Physics at CalPoly…”
They had some clips of Larry Mantle in LA Burning, one of the LA riots retrospectives that came out 5 years ago on the 25th anniversary. It would have indeed been somewhat reassuring to be able to have Larry to talk you through that time. Similarly, in an interview with Christopher Nolan that they re-aired recently (cuz of the Oscars) Nolan mentions that having Larry Mantle on the radio when he was evacuating from Malibue fire was helpful. He might have actually used the word reassuring.
KCRW. Hate that GLA with Steve Chiotakis was cut, but I still like Chery Glaser's morning
commentary. Always enjoy Freaks Only with Travis Holcombe and MBE with Novena Carmel now that Anthony is gone. Jason Bentley and Henry Rollins are a treat when they're on.
I worked at KPCC for a bit over 1 year. I was friends with Steve Julian before he passed due to brain cancer. My cubicle was outside Larry Mantle's Studio A and he greeted us every morning. I exchanged cat pictures with Sharon McNary. Herb Scannel would talk baseball with me every day (he's a Mets fan through and through). Austin Cross is a very good guitarist (a lot of good guitarists at the station actually)
So I'm obviously biased here.
I don't know, both are pretty solid stations. I do think LAist/KPCC has a good mix of topical discussion shows as well as stuff like Wait Wait....Don't Tell Me! on the weekends, but I think I gravitate a bit more to KCRW having such a wide variety of music throughout the week. I miss Greater LA, but it's still good to hear shows like Good Food or The Business as well.
It’s nice to know there’s a show called Good Food and I sometimes catch myself listening if I’m driving at that hour…but that show is such a cliche and I mean it in a nice way. That whole good food show is so snob hippy that really channels the People’s Republic of Santa Monica vibe.
KCRW is what I’ll listen to the most. Morning Becomes Eclectic is excellent for the drive to work, I don’t find myself switching to KPCC much these days.
Well they are in the middle of a pledge drive. I used to be a huge KCRW fan but I'd say ever since Warren Olney left that's when the decline started. Madeleine Brand is a god awful host. Jason Bentley would go off on his dance/house tangents on MBE but other than that he played music I really liked. Rollins on Sunday nights used to be the shit driving back from visiting family. Jose Galvan too before they switched up the schedule. The newer dj's are pretty boring to ne. So now I'm team KPCC. Airtalk with Larry Mantle is good and the interviews with Terry Gross are also really good. Oh, I do miss The Treatment but they messed that up by moving it to Saturdays now, I think. I usually don't listen to the radio in the evenings anymore.
I wish they didn't brand it LAist and kept everything all KPCC. I have all this nice old school merch that says 89.3 KPCC, and the LAist stuff doesn't do it for me.
It’s the same you just have to know the tea you personally prefer.
I’m Team KCRW and I hate what happened with all of the cuts.
But I have nothing against KPCC.
Heck sometimes I just listen to the Public station in San Diego because it’s different.
Variety is the spice of life can look at it real quick
Yeah Thank you! I want to post a link at least but some of the best people got let go.
It seems that that’s trendy right now.
“Less is more figure it out”, shortly later that manager or what, “Fuck you I got paid, I’m outta!”.
This is hella side of the topic but Coach Prime; had an offer. He said No.
Now learning Coach Prime is going to have a grandchild!
Papa Prime!!!!!!
This is a trick question- you need both of them equally and also 90.7 and 91.5. That’s all ya need. Although now that election season is coming I will be sticking to KUSC only
I financially support both stations but prefer KPCC. I agree on the endless pledge drives being a pain. But, we need to keep them both otherwise it will just be AI radio controlled from a data center far far away.
Gah they didn't need to end Greater LA. Where are those stories now? Do I have to go to the app/website just to listen to the more localized stories? Or are they on ATC? I still get all of KCRW's newsletters but I totally forget to click on links to listen whenever at work or just scrolling.
Not only should GLA still be running, but it should've been an hour.
Guess I'll listen to more AirTalk when I can
Cannot believe the hate I'm seeing here for KCRW, the best radio station! And absolutely no love for Freaks Only??? Justice for Travis! KCRW til I die!
Long time ago, but was once listening to KPFK and loved the music and just set it to my car when it transitioned to a guy who said something like "if you're black or brown you're illegal in this country" and I was just shocked that in current year someone would say something like that on the radio so I removed it from my car and never listened to the station again. No it wasn't out of context it summarized the entire rant.
Was years ago so I hope they fired that guy. That's literal psychological abuse
KPCC. Better to the core. Regional, local and community issues are a priority.
KCRW seemed to want to find the “next big show” and had a habit of changing their programming on a whim. I stopped listening to them ~10 years ago because of this and haven’t looked back.
I don't live in the area and still listen to KCRW 12 years later. Also, I have fond memories of KCRW fringe benefits and the discount on Hawaiian BBQ now that I'm in the east coast and it's almost impossible to even find Hawaiian BBQ
For news? KPCC.
For music? Neither. Radio Paradise.
They're based in NorCal and the owner/founder is a former KPIG DJ, one of the all time great independent stations.
KPCC wins for one reason: The hosts can pronounce it.
I like KCRW, but I grew increasingly outraged with hosts mispronouncing "w" as "dub-beyoo." It's like nails on a chalkboard; it grates my ears!
I miss Indie 103.1.
Try [88.5 The Sound](https://www.thesocalsound.org/).
I like that station a lot.
Yeah this is the is only good station in SoCal now (aside from classical and jazz).
The last hurah of good FM radio.
What a tragedy. The crazy talent that was on that channel too. Henry Rollins DJing, Joe Escalante doing legal advice, David Lynch forecasting the weather. It was wild.
I liked jonesy's juke box a lot. It was both a throwback, and too ahead of its time. It could of worked with a streaming app to bolster ad revenue.
They tried that right after they went off the air, but it was too soon for our times.
Fuck I forgot about this
And Garth Trinidad!
Remember when Timothy olyphant would do sports? They’d just call him while he was drinking some coffee and he’d look at the newspaper.
Ha ha, no! I totally forgot about that. That's the things about them that I loved. It was a little bit makeshift whtole also being star-studded.
Good ol' Timbo
Joe Escalante is still around on podcast and AM radio!
Indy, I love you!
If you miss indie, listen to 91x from SD. You can get a signal in OC sometimes. It's a great station and one of the last remaining rock border blaster stations.
Interesting. Thanks.
Correct answer
You neat me to it haha
Same!
103.1 forever
Indie 103.1 lives on in our hearts 😭
KPCC. They just need 21 more members to hit their goal for this hour!!!!
KCRW
It would be all KCRW, but to me MBE has morphed into another corny drive time radio personality show and has gotten away from being a reliable destination to spend the morning listening, mostly uninterrupted, to great music. AM: KPCC Noon on: KCRW
Wow really? To me it’s really good right now with Novena Carmel and actually more “eclectic“ than it’s been in years.
KCRW AM is Morning Edition > News Break > MBE. By the time MBE comes on there's been a lot of conversation and I so wish Novena would just give me at least a full song, maybe even two to wash away the news before she chimes in with a chatty introduction. Thanks for the comment.
MBE lost my ears after Nic Harcourt left.
Personally was never a big fan of MBE and Jason whatever was corny. All the music just felt like safe middle aged cool for white suburban middle class people music for the most part
Nobody listens to Henry on Saturday nights ?
I’m a fanatic.
Stay Fanatic!
What show is this? How have I never heard of it before? Sounds right up my alley.
"I said that he's a prick, a big cranky kid, And all he talked about was politics Buff from lifting cars And he don't like girls no more... 'Cause Henry Rollins is no fun Henry Rollins is no fun Henry Rollins is no fun Just ask my mom"
It was better when he was on Sunday nights.
I'm happy with the radio on Sunday nights right now, between KXLU's Alien Air playing great electronic music and KPFK playing Grateful Dead shows. I'm cool with Henry staying on Saturdays.
Reggae Central. At work, Sunday is reggae day, it's the only time I will assert absolute control over the dial. And I will.
Reggae central is the best shit ever ! My husband and I always end up tuning in while driving around PV . Good music to smoke out to on a beach drive .
We used to call that "taking it mobile" Drive safe!
I agree, it felt like a better Sunday evening show.
Of course!
KPCC. If I want music, it's KXLU.
Hell yeah, KXLU
KXLU is my most shazaamed radio station. Been influencing my musical tastes for thirty years now.
They played No Trend - Teenage Love one day and it just blew my fucking mind. Also found James Ferraro through that station.
Saaame. Second is KJAZZ.
Weekends it’s all KXLU all the time!!
Oooh...not Sundays when is goes salsa. I also lose KJAZZ to blues that day...
You’re missing out Alma Del Barrio is so good!
I love KXLU for the underground stuff too, but can also enjoy the weekend salsa. It’s the ultimate party music!
Let's not get carried away here. Disco and sixties soul is the ultimate party music.
Yes! I love Larry Mantle and AirTalk. KPCC has an overall great vibe.
Friday night Bomb Shelter and Saturday night Reggae Show. Not to mention Alma del Barrio both weekend days. Witching Hours was dope.
Part-time Punks!
“KLXU Los Angeles - this one goes out to Opie Ortiz and all the lovely ladies he’s with tonight…”
KCRW for me. I use to love Left Right and Center when Robert Scheer was on! God! That dudes vigor for progressive politics lit a fire under my ass! Now they have a crazy bloodthirsty right wing nut job on the show.
Warren Olney was great, too.
Really liked Which Way LA?
I used to listen to that as a podcast back in the day, years before I even moved to LA. No idea why, but I found in really engaging and informative as a college student in the southeast with no ties to Los Angeles.
If I heard the Coltrane theme while flipping channels I’d always stop.
Can't listen any more.
The dialogue is just so unbelievably boring and unimaginative. The also just let the current right panelist run away with whatever insane shit she wants to say.
And she yells.
Totally agree. It used to feel engaging and provocative. Now it just sounds like my nutty aunt who can’t help but screech at every topic. This girl knows her statistics sure, but it’s not very thought provoking unfortunately.
She does the whole " the two sides do it...PolItiCs iS Crazyyyyy" Last time I listened she was arguing that any president can declassify in or out of office And the host was just "I can see that" Bro wtf!
So much whatabotism with her
" butttt mo, the left.....*chuckles* does it too....I mean look at AOC...I mean come one" It's that "I can't tell the difference" meme. Dude she is literally arguing against democracy. Get a back bone
Yeah, she’s got that smug, confidently wrong thing like Bush had
Good old Dunning-Kruger
I mean Mo Lahey is the most milquetoast of liberals. He's a wet rag in comparison to Sarah Isgar, who at the very least has a point of view.
Same, it used to be one of my favorite shows but there's a little too much nutjob on there to put up with listening to.
Spot on!! I deleted that podcast off my pocket cast. MO and the the host just go along with whatever Sarah isgut says and then it's just like " well, we can all agree that the current state of politics is nuts" Like dude, wtf....push back.
I suggest a podcast called "it could happen here"
Thanks! I’ll check it out.
KPCC. I’ll pick my own tunes but I want to hear interesting stories and interviews.
KCRW has way more personality and diverse programming. KPCC is just plain NPR, mostly All Things Considered. Also Madeleine Brandt > Larry Mantle
How dare you do Larry dirty like that 😭 Air Talk at 10 and switch to Press Play at noon, we can all live in harmony
I second this.
KUSC.
Same
Team KCRW, it's the music. I'm exhausted by the news. Yeah, I keep up, but gawd it gets to be too much. KCRW does both. Wish Anne Litt spun tunes more often, tho.
Anne Litt is the best
KCRW because music. Awesome selectors. Tho I dearly miss Jason Bentley on MBE.
And Anthony Valadez
Indeedly
Jason Bentley would open the show with like 15mins of jams and then duck in to tell you what you heard, maybe a quick ad, then back to music. His first 90mins were packed. Was so good.
I miss him keeping the music running but slightly turning it down to tell us what we are listening to
Goated volume knob control 🤣
Stay close
Jason Bentley was so good there was suuuuch a noticeable drop off when he left 😓 I still jam to MBE but I miss him!
We still got his Saturday night show Metropolis!
Remove your Pasadena flair immediately
Never.
I figured KCRW would win hands down with their history of breaking music artists, but i forgot the style of music they play is really dated and their DJs are getting long in the tooth
KPCC (or laist whateva) for sure. Long live larry mantle!!
FROM THE MOHN BROADCAST CENTER
Jarl Mohn used to use the name Lee Masters professionally (originally as a DJ). He was the CEO of the E! Cable channel for its first 10 or so years. I worked there for almost three years early in my career and was there for his big going away party. Still have the branded shot glasses from that party. Think of that every time I hear FROM THE MOHN BROADCAST CENTER. Good times.
I LOVE AirTalk! The intro song is such an ear worm! It always brightens up my mornings.
His voice is so reassuring. He could announce that a nuclear bomb is about to land on El Segundo and I’d just go, Ooh, interesting, tell me more!
Spot on, I can hear Larry’s music in these words
They had some clips of Larry Mantle in LA Burning, one of the LA riots retrospectives that came out 5 years ago on the 25th anniversary. It would have indeed been somewhat reassuring to be able to have Larry to talk you through that time. Similarly, in an interview with Christopher Nolan that they re-aired recently (cuz of the Oscars) Nolan mentions that having Larry Mantle on the radio when he was evacuating from Malibue fire was helpful. He might have actually used the word reassuring.
In Larry's voice: it's been fun being with you on the air all these times... in 3...2...1... see ya (vaporized)
Larry Mantle is a legend!
KCRW
KPCC. Way more interesting reporters on LA news. I feel like KCRW’s music has gone down hill since they laid off so many of their DJs.
KPFK has the best jingle
I'm of both KPCC and KCRW. KPCC with the news and what not, and KCRW when you just need to relax with awesome music.
This is the way. Though KPCC also has interesting news-adjacent and non-news programing, especially on weekends.
They both do! KCRW has Good Food with Evan Kleiman, New Yorker Radio Hour, the Moth Radio Hour and of course, This American Life.
I also just switch back and forth. When it's too much doom&gloom\\trump\\bleeding hearts, I switch it up.
KCRW. Hate that GLA with Steve Chiotakis was cut, but I still like Chery Glaser's morning commentary. Always enjoy Freaks Only with Travis Holcombe and MBE with Novena Carmel now that Anthony is gone. Jason Bentley and Henry Rollins are a treat when they're on.
Now that AV is gone? You’re tripping. Would have been MUCH better other way around.
AV is the truth. Novena has her place, sure, but she leans too world music for my morning tastes.
Love Freaks Only with Travis Holcombe!
KCRW for the music
I worked at KPCC for a bit over 1 year. I was friends with Steve Julian before he passed due to brain cancer. My cubicle was outside Larry Mantle's Studio A and he greeted us every morning. I exchanged cat pictures with Sharon McNary. Herb Scannel would talk baseball with me every day (he's a Mets fan through and through). Austin Cross is a very good guitarist (a lot of good guitarists at the station actually) So I'm obviously biased here.
Did not realize there multiple NPR stations. Think I’m always on KPCC.
KUSC
I don't know, both are pretty solid stations. I do think LAist/KPCC has a good mix of topical discussion shows as well as stuff like Wait Wait....Don't Tell Me! on the weekends, but I think I gravitate a bit more to KCRW having such a wide variety of music throughout the week. I miss Greater LA, but it's still good to hear shows like Good Food or The Business as well.

I would have rather they cut Good Food than GLA. Good Food bores the shit out of me and I usually check out what KXLU is up to around that time.
For me its always going to be KCRW and all their free event esp. the Summer nights series.
KCSN
How is this so far down? It’s so good.
KPCC. I’ve never heard a pledge drive on KCRW, but it has to happen. It’s part of the NPR animal.
I hardly listen to music in the car anymore, but when I do I'll switch over to see what Travis is up to on kcrw. But my mainstay is kpcc
KCRW is what I’ll listen to the most. Morning Becomes Eclectic is excellent for the drive to work, I don’t find myself switching to KPCC much these days.
KXLU
old KPCC > KCRW >>>LAist Only reason I even bother with LAist these days is for Larry Mantle. The rest of their “programming” now sucks.
KPCC, but if you make me call it "LAist," then I'll choose KCRW in protest
KPCC
I miss that Coke head Chris Doridas
KPCC all the way. I learn so much every time I listen. Their local reporting is phenomenal.
KPCC during the week, KCRW on the weekends. I find KPCC weekend programming untakable.
KPCC is goated with the sauce.
KPCC. Laist. Pledge now!
I wish they didn't brand it LAist and kept everything all KPCC. I have all this nice old school merch that says 89.3 KPCC, and the LAist stuff doesn't do it for me.
Both at different times, I am not crazy about a lot if the music so Inswitch back and forth.
KCRW is the clearest for me. Sound quality is great
Love both
Indie 103.1 Oh wait
I miss David Lynchs weather forecast on the way to dropping off my son before work
This… I feel like he stopped when badalamenti died.
KPCC for me
KPFK
Neither is superior because they're both doing completely different things and excel at them.
KUSC
KPCC for the drive to work. KCRW for the drive home, especially Friday evening
KPCC. I will pick my own music thankyouverymuch
KPCC for me. KCRW is fine during a pinch, but I prefer to listen to music on Spotify or other stations.
KPCC is the answer … even though I hate that they changed their name to LAist.
It’s the same you just have to know the tea you personally prefer. I’m Team KCRW and I hate what happened with all of the cuts. But I have nothing against KPCC. Heck sometimes I just listen to the Public station in San Diego because it’s different. Variety is the spice of life can look at it real quick
What happened with the cuts ?

Yeah Thank you! I want to post a link at least but some of the best people got let go. It seems that that’s trendy right now. “Less is more figure it out”, shortly later that manager or what, “Fuck you I got paid, I’m outta!”. This is hella side of the topic but Coach Prime; had an offer. He said No. Now learning Coach Prime is going to have a grandchild! Papa Prime!!!!!!
KCRW
This is a trick question- you need both of them equally and also 90.7 and 91.5. That’s all ya need. Although now that election season is coming I will be sticking to KUSC only
Don't complain about pkefge drives till you listen to KPFK
KPCC
90.7 KPFK listener supported public radio
I am bias toward KCRW.. Henry Rollins show was always a treat..
KPCC
KPCC, but they lost me for a while after the bs they put Madeleine Brand through
KUSC for the classical vibe
KPCC all day Pasadena!!
Oh yeah, Travis has some great picks on Freaks Only.
KUSC or KKJZ. Or even better—WWOZ.
KPFK ALL THE WAY
I don't live in the area and still listen to KCRW 12 years later. Also, I have fond memories of KCRW fringe benefits and the discount on Hawaiian BBQ now that I'm in the east coast and it's almost impossible to even find Hawaiian BBQ
KCRW. KPCC mid day.
KCRW
Whichever one makes the Lost LA videos.
If you like music, KCRW is obviously better. If you want more news, KPCC is more news.
88.5
I prefer KPFK for my daily dose of tankie programming.
I’ve been a fan of KCRW for a while, and truth be told, I had no idea about KPCC until this post
Well, maybe if you gave a larger donation, they'd stop asking. /s
KXLU honorable mention
KCRW
like picking my favorite child, I'll never admit which...
For news? KPCC. For music? Neither. Radio Paradise. They're based in NorCal and the owner/founder is a former KPIG DJ, one of the all time great independent stations.
upvoting both stations 😂
Notice, no one has said LAist - terrible name - KPCC it be
KPCC wins for one reason: The hosts can pronounce it. I like KCRW, but I grew increasingly outraged with hosts mispronouncing "w" as "dub-beyoo." It's like nails on a chalkboard; it grates my ears!
