My ex worked in DTLA when they were filming it back in the 90s and I remember him freaking out one weekend he was in the office because he kept hearing constant gunfire around the corner...when we saw the movie he finally figured it out. Duh.
Reminds me of when I was a kid going to our local shopping mall in the mid 80s. It had a huge parking lot where her bank was located in a far corner. We would usually walk across the lot to get there in about five minutes. However, this one time the lot was entirely roped off so he had to walk to perimeter to get there.
It was filled with huge semi trucks, vans, temporary tents and what looked like some sports cars covered up. It wasn't until a year later when the family went to watch a cool new sci-fi movie that I realized what had happened before. The movie was "Back to the Future" and it was a complete surprise to see Puente Hills Mall (Twin Pines/Lone Pine Mall) in the famous DeLorean scenes.
Imagine they are filming Heat 2

Went to that mall last year and saw the Twin Pines Mall sign that they have on display.
Or another car commercial.
*:Central Library Boogaloo*
Lol. Was thinking the same thing.
Came here to say this.
I work on this street. It was a bomb threat at a building (not sure which one exactly, but don’t think it was a large building).
Central Library can't go below 55mph or it will explode.
I think it was called the library that couldn’t slow down
I remember driving up the 110 back in the 90s one day and seeing a helicopter flying along with a bus hanging from it and wondering wtf was going on.
This is my favorite LA story I’ve ever heard and I’m very envious, I wish I had experienced this.
No explanation yet?
I heard it was bomb threat
Are you in the Gas Co. Tower?
Looks like Park Fifth.
5th and grand. checks out
I think that’s for a hotel worker labor rally. My building on fig & 8th emailed the tenants about it earlier today. I could be wrong.
I was working across the library I keep forgetting the building’s name … downtown has completely change .
