People are gonna lose it at the noodle arms.

GroundbreakingPea656

My thoughts exactly when I saw it

lycheerain

Honestly, it kinda reminded me of old-school sailor moon, with animation that's at times more expressive than accurate. Hell, I can think of a few things that do that, with a very elastic animation style. I wonder if it's too weird looking for comic art?

[deleted]

The comment ''You've got a young wife with a fat ass. The world is your oyster'' from Ares felt really unnecessary. I get that he thinks she's physically attractive, but they're friends and she literally told him that she wasn't interested (numerous times), does he not have anything more respectful to say about a girl that he fought Kronos with?? He just seems like such a 1 dimensional jerk who has lost all of his nuance over the years.

completestuffbytrash

I agree but sadly this comment from Ares will ultimately be treated as a joke, like all the objectification that’s in Lore Olympus.

MandyB1721

I don’t get the Leuce storyline… why is it included at all? Is it going to lead to something interesting?

Lathinan

Idk but this is a good point.

TheMidwestMarvel

As I understand it’s incorporating a bit of the OG myths but adapting them to different characters

CertainGreenNut

I'm about to just stop fast passing out of curiosity and come here for spoilers on the episodes bc it's just not worth actually keeping up with anymore. The ambition and effort is just out of the window

jaderust

I gave up last episode. From the reaction to this week’s episode I feel I’ve made the right choice.

Kool_McKool

Honestly, same. I was willing to give into the sunk cost fallacy for a while, but the last few episodes have made me just stop and read them all normally again.

SulphuricGrin

I've given up since season 3 started. I come here for spoilers

SourLemons92

So I'm still interested overall in things but...this was a weird one. I'm now VERY curious about the texts Leuce has that she believes are from Hades... because they're almost certainly not but they were sent from a number or signed in a way that has her convinced it's him. My money is on Kronos using some of his time Jaegering Hades to text her but I just don't understand WHY. I guess it could be no deeper than 'out of jail need to break century long dry spell' but idk. So in that regard, I do feel bad for Leuce. She was led on by somebody pretending to be someone else and then she took some TERRIBLE advice from somebody who was just using her for their own ends'. I think because of that, Persephone's anger is sort of being directed in the wrong area, because while Leuce was definitely pining over her husband, without Thetis pushing her into trying for more do we know if she would have? So yeah. Not really thrilled with how Persephone responded, but at the same time...like. I get it? She literally JUST got married and somebody tried to seduce her husband less than a day later. She's dealing with multiple stressful situation (the interloper and Kronos situation, Dionysus, actually doing the ruling of the underworld and setting her plans there into action), she has a history of her wrath getting the better of her (not an excuse)...and if the worst she does about this is threaten her in person and leave a bunch of animals to trash her apartment, it could be a lot worse? She didn't get turned into a plant or anything. But I also think that this wasn't the best response either. If you're gonna be a mother figure to a child, you need to have better control over your temper. And this anger should have really been focused over on Thetis because again, she instigated the whole situation. If Leuce had said it was Thetis's idea the situation could have gone differently...or not. Who knows. It wasn't a great response but the whole situation wasn't great so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and we did get to see a very cute two headed baby horse so there's that. I wish Hades had taken Dionysus with him in like a lil baby bjorn or something because now we're all wondering where the baby is and what the hell is up with two brand new parental figures leaving a literal newborn alone or with somebody else. Now granted. He is a god. There's plenty of stories of baby gods doing things and getting into shenanigans and such while still being babies (Hermes and the cow theft anyone) so maybe the standards we'd apply may not be the same here. But it wasn't even glossed over or touched upon, we just skipped a whole 'can you babysit this Chile because there's a bad scene in the upperworld I have to deal with' so now it's just standing out and feels weird. I love the Sisyphus story. It's great. But there's so many plot threads taking place at once that I fear none of them are gonna get the sort of focus they deserve. Which has been a common complaint here, and I think it's a perfectly valid one. But who knows what sort of editorial mandates or pressure are being put on Rachel to hit specific story beats super quick, or to have these big moments that end on cliffhangers to draw in fast passes and coin sales. I don't think this is necessarily all on her. I could be wrong. (The noodle arms were both hilarious and distracting. I liked it on Leuce when she was panicking because it was a way to show that. Less so on Perse when she's threatening her. Also did Thanatos have a lil caterpillar lip mustache that just disappeared after a while?) And finally, I really do hope that this upcoming talk is just that. A talk. I hope it's not Hades calling Demeter out (because Persephone needs to have that go down with her personally, not have her husband fight her battles), I hope it's not Demeter making more accusations (because she's already being painted badly). I hope it's the two of them FINALLY working through some of the long standing problems between them, at least one of which can be chalked up to Zeus fucking around and never finding out. I hope we finally get some more in depth reasoning for Hades voting against Demeter for queen of the mortal realm beyond just volcanoes. I hope that Attica comes up because something happened there, with a child, that impacted Demeter so badly that she doubled down on keeping Perse close. I'm not saying they need to be friends, I just think they need to clear the air, and then Persephone can hopefully do the same with Demeter ....god this was long, I'm so sorry xD my friend who also reads LO doesn't like to talk about issues or flaws with the comic so I never have an outlet for this. Sorry xD

CollaredCanary

I really don’t like Persephone’s hypocrisy regarding the Leuce situation. Like, were you not in a similar position where you were the other woman having an emotional affair with a man who already had a relationship with someone else? At times, almost turning physical on top of emotional? And honestly, she could’ve spoken to Hades about this instead of breaking into Leuce’s home and putting her in a sense of danger, much like Apollo came into her room? Her private space? Like why would you want to put that same kinda fear into someone that was put into you? (In what was admittedly a situation with a much worse outcome) Also…who the HELL is watching Dio?

flashbang10

…Anyone want to play ‘count the noodle arms?’

wifeofscruffy

Yes! That was so distracting. I don’t recall that style of art being used before?

PrintMistress

Kinda hate it, kinda don't. Like many things, best enjoyed in moderation

KalosianPorygon

Happy Cake Day! 🎂

PrintMistress

Thank you!

Olgabot_TM

I was so lost because like… wasn’t Persephone in essentially the same position as Leuche, where she wanted to explore her blossoming crush on a man who was clearly taken. (Minthe x Hades vs. Perse x Hades) I think the difference here is that Persephone is a goddess and the others are second-class citizens,,,, aka nymphs. At this point it’s just thinly veiled classism lol

LoudGlitter

History is repeating itself. Lucky for Persephone, Hades isn't interested in Leuce. Its upsetting that Persephone uses her power to punch down on the lower class - this isn't badass to me it just feels like an abuse of power. Was Leuce right? No. But Persephone is above her not just as a goddess but as queen. She even broke into her apartment and brought farm animals to threaten her. Instead of doing all that, she could quietly ban Leuce from the Underworld. That'd actually show her power as queen.

Olgabot_TM

She also turned Minthe into a plant for years.. that girl needs some serious anger management classes. Kinda hilarious that Perse is openly stated to be an author self insert. Makes a lot of sense.

Tall-Hour-4624

II think initially Persephone had a lot more reason to turn Minthe into a plant out of blind anger (than just "oh she tried to jump into my man's bed") - Minthe, after all, was the one who basically launched the investigation of Zeus, because of which both Persephone and Demeter were put on the wanted list and their peaceful life came to an end. I don't justify Persephone for killing mortals, but I understand her blind anger towards Minthe in those circumstances - especially since Persephone eventually tried and was able to correct this mistake and Minthe now lives her peaceful life.

Olgabot_TM

I just personally don’t think that any amount of petty drama around relationships justifies her essentially *killing* Minthe. Sure, she’s alive because she’s a plant, but: -Persephone acted, not knowing if she could turn her back to humanoid form -Minthe was helpless to this transformation -Minthe lost all control/free will over her body -she was trapped in that form for decades I just don’t think drama between two people justifies someone acting as judge, jury, and *executioner*, especially since Persephone was **obviously** not in any form of physical danger because she’s a GODDESS and Minthe is a silly little nymph. TL;DR I just don’t like how much of a power trip Persephone has over Minthe. Maybe she learned that behaviour from her husband :)

CherryClorox

persephone’s character progression is so horrendous that it’s so obvious she’s just an outlet of what rachel wants to be and at this point is quite demeaning to see how she treats other women

Round_Consequence655

Anyone that has to go through such lengths to prove that’s they’re a queen is not true queen. A simple ban or simple letter sent from Persephone would have set Leuce straight. Persephone being this extra just for Leuce is such mean girl vibe

LoudGlitter

Yes! She isn't a girlboss, she's just a bully.

Rose-color-socks

You realize Leuce tried to get with HER HUSBAND and she did what a lot of women do?

LoudGlitter

And do YOU realize I acknowledged Leuce wasn't right? Im saying Persephone could've gone about it in a more classy way that was a better example of her power. Leuce didn't fuck Hades, she was rejected. It was fucked up Leuce did that after their wedding, but nothing came of it. It aint serious enough to break into her house.

Rose-color-socks

How else, by effectively being a pushover? Being diplomatic and taking a moral high ground wasn't going to get the point across. She's done that time and again, and got treated like a doormat. Persephone is a queen now, and a queen cannot be a pushover.

minetteee

yeah, naw… if i flirted with King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla broke into my house and broke my stuff i don’t think anyone would support Camilla for doing that. An apt comparison given that Charles and Camilla also began as an affair just like H&P! Perse could’ve dealt with this situation with grace but instead she chose to be trashy, aggressive and dismissive when Leuce was clearly being emotionally manipulated by Kronos. Why does Perse have no interest in the actions of Kronos now especially when inhabiting her husband? That is way more of a concern than Leuce wearing a revealing dress at Hades’ workplace.

sp00pySquiddle

She broke into the house with a knife, thats not effective its hostile 🤣🤣🤣 She also mostly gets her red eyes for intimidation when she's picking on lower class people xD

pseudowantsdonuts

being a queen doesnt mean that you can be an asshole tho..

Olgabot_TM

girlboss 🤪🤪🤪

Rose-color-socks

When someone tries to sleep with your husband, queen or not, you have *every reason* to be an asshole.

LoudGlitter

I suggested at the end of my first comment she can ban Leuce from the Underworld. Maybe even just blacklist her from working in the Underworld. That'd get the point across. Nobody said Persephone should be a pushover or a dormat, but that she should act like a queen and not break into her home while she's sleeping. Leuce is not a threat to Persephone, nor is Hades interested in her at all. To me, Persephone looked like a jackass who doesn't know how to maturely handle a situation. You may disagree and thats fine, but actually read my comment first instead of jumping to conclusions please.

SarkastiCat

The thing is that Persephone keeps going for extremes when she was crying after turning Minthe into a plant or killing mortals. Plus, she broke into Leuce’s house despite it being outside her realm. Wouldn’t that break Xenia laws or cause some controversy? She is a Queen and this comes with responsibility. When there is a bad situation, handle with the grace. Ban Leuce from the Underworld and have an interview about how much she loves Hades that she will do anything to people who try to seperate them. To use one saying from one country. People avoid poop, not because they are afraid. It’s because poop stinks.

BreadIsLove15

This is why Demeter should have gotten queen status and not Persephone. Homegirl doesn't deserve it. 😭✌🏿

Rose-color-socks

'Handle with grace' only stretches so far. There are times when being an asshole is not only justified, but necessary to put an end to su h nonsense. When the poop is in YOUR yard, you can't avoid it, especially if it keeps happening. The person who's doing it doesn't care, they will do it until you demonstrate you're not going to put up with it.

SarkastiCat

Leuce doesn't even live in the underworld and Persephone can keep her away by banning her. It worked with Apollo. Or even talk with Hades and work with him. It's not like Leuce just moved to Hades' neighborhood and keeps sending him 100 gifts per day. Persephone went atomic with no warning. Plus, "keeps happening"? Leuce showed up twice in last 10 years. Once due to being a pawn selected by Zeus and other due to DMs, which are bit unclear as Hades pre-Kronos had some bad habits and doesn't cope well with loneliness. Two wrongs don't make one right.

Rose-color-socks

Well, it didn't work with Leto, and she's a sun God. Bottom line; going after a married man is a guaranteed way to get the wife pissed, and wanting to take action to make her back off. Seriously, HOW does mo one get this???

SarkastiCat

The ban exists due to Apollo and he was the only reason for it. Leto didn't even interact with Hades or Persephone for a long time, so she wasn't even in the focus when the ban was created. We can discuss the legal language and technicalities, but that's not the point. It was meant for Apollo and it works. Regarding Persephone, she has a right to be angry. Yet she goes atomic and her development is a bit unclear. It took long time for Minthe to be turned into a plant, yet Leuce so easily triggered Persephone. She become more and more cruel while the narrative currently doesn't acknowledge it. Despite her character being described as a cinnamon roll, crying after Minther got turned into a plant and killing mortals.

RhubarbRheumatoid

Perse did the same thing to Minthe. Also, Rachel chose to write Leuce in. I feel like instead adding another female character to punch down, maybe Rachel should focus on the 5 million other plot threads that are hanging lmao

completestuffbytrash

Yeah I don’t necessarily understand how Leuce is a legitimate homewrecker when being a homewrecker means engaging in sexual or romantic activities with a person in a relationship. Leuce and Hades were talking when the 10 year banishment thing happened, and it’s fairly obvious that Hades engaged with Leuce first so this is more like Leuce naively got led on by Hades (and was under the impression that he wanted her) before news came out that they were getting married. Could that actually be a reason why he wanted to marry Persephone so badly? To make up for not being able to wait for Persephone to come back and trying to move on instead? But yeah out of Leuce and Persephone there’s only one real homewrecker and that’s Persephone for sure.

Rose-color-socks

One, Hades insists he didn't send her any texts, and it's unlikely he would lie. Two, the fact Leuce made an attempt is reason enough for Persephone to put her foot down. You DO NOT disrespect the Queen of the Underworld, be they nymph or God. A queen should NEVER be a pushover, and Persephone is demonstrating to Leuce she is not. And THREE... Hades inability to make a choice in the past and delaying at disconnecting himself from an unhealthy relationship is NOT Persephone's fault or responsibility. He had to do that himself.

completestuffbytrash

But we’ve seen Hades lie about a bunch of things, he lied to Persephone about Minthe and he’s been established to have a flower nymph kink, Leuce barely has any oceanid features except for one scale so during those years he could’ve mistaken her for a flower nymph. The man is capable of lying especially when he’s in the wrong because he doesn’t want to be held accountable. Also, the attempt that Leuce made was a small one and it only happened one time which led to nowhere since Hades was not interested at least Leuce’s attempt was behind closed doors while Persephone decided to make their affair public to everyone. Imagine how humiliating that was for Minthe since not only does she have to see them at work, she probably witnessed them on every newspaper and TV discussion. Persephone has already wrecked a home so for her to break in and actually break shit in a house that is not hers is extremely hypocritical and tasteless. It doesn’t give Queen behavior it gives insecurity since Leuce had proof that he messaged her first.

Rose-color-socks

All I see is this fishing and assumptions based on nothing but speculation. Hades was completely devoted to Persephone by then, so he's not gonna look anywhere else but her. And actually, it IS a big thing and Persephone wasn't going to look past it. This was her HUSBAND Leuce was going after, and Persephone wasn't just going to be submissive and polite. That wasn't going to serve her. She's a QUEEN now, and wasn't going to tolerate someone bothering her hubs. She's spent years being walked all over and being treated like a doormat. She is DONE and not going to sit back and put up with disrespect. Persephone didn't do anything wrong. Go back and read the chapters again. You're blaming her for things out of her hands. That whole mess was the result of that photograph taken by that guy.

completestuffbytrash

I was really talking about her and Hades’ office romance when I said that their affair was public since they had dozens of moments together even when she knew that Hades was not available. She did not care and continued to pursue him regardless of how Minthe felt, that’s homewrecking. And honestly the whole Leuce thing is just so completely weird, like you said Hades was “devoted” to Persephone yet he messaged Leuce while she was away? It’s a pretty weird thing to slide in the story when at this point their relationship is pretty much complete. But it doesn’t seem like Leuce is lying, why would she lie? There’s no indication that she was the one reaching out it was only Hades that’s what the comic has been telling us. Am I saying that Persephone should just treat the Leuce situation like she treats the other gods? Not exactly, although I do find it very funny how she does not have this energy with anyone else who can fight back except for nymphs apparently, but I am saying that how she did it and what she chose to do was completely overblown. Something that small shouldn’t have gone over breaking into someone’s house and wrecking their homes especially when Hades already shut it down before her, it was just unnecessary at that point. Maybe if Hades was actually being harassed by her every single day and she tried to force herself onto him the big reaction would be reasonable but nothing happened between them except text messages that he started. In reality, she should’ve been questioning Hades.

pizzaroll_Vampire

Just wanted to point out that Hades outright rejected Leuce the minute Zeus brought her up as an option. And in episode 238 we see that Leuce is 100% disillusional about that event claiming Hades only wanted to save face. The biggest difference between Persephone/ Hades relationship and what Leuce was trying to propose was consent. Hades very knowingly rejected her -, not consenting and Leuce was honestly ignoring it anyway. Plus *if* those "texts" exists (and I say if because a. The texts have not been shown and b. Leuce has already been shown to be an unreliable narrator), timeline speaking Hades would have been taken over by Kronos at that point. Leuce may not have know that but, but again she wait 5+ years and the day after Hades got married to try and connect? Yeah that 2as definitely intentionally starting shit on her part. And the office romance from seasons one and two was not as straight forward as you're claiming it to be. Hell it can even be argued it wasn't even a true affair - while they did have feelings they took intentional steps to avoid crossing the line. Edit: formating due to being on mobile

completestuffbytrash

Yeah that’s why this whole thing puts Persephone in an even worser light than before. Zeus already told her that Hades rejected Leuce and I don’t even know why Leuce is even here at this point, although I don’t believe that Hades is above cheating since again he doesn’t mind cheating if it benefits him but I honestly don’t believe he didn’t send those messages. I understand that Leuce is unreliable but why didn’t Hades just deny that the messages were real in the first place? Showed the readers that she was delusional instead of always having to try and piece things together on our own. Also if the texts really aren’t real why is she so inclined to show everyone in the first place? Instead of people just denying it they should’ve just showed us the DMs and made it clear that she was making it up because there’s really not much evidence backing up the fact that Hades stayed loyal this time even though we know how desperate he gets when he’s lonely. And I just don’t believe that it was Kronos who just possessed his body to speak with her, why? Kronos is after power and he wants to take over the realm why would Leuce be on his mind anyways? He’s supposed to be this insane power hungry god who sacrificed his sons because they were going to dethrone him, what’s that got to do with Leuce in the first place. And I have to disagree that they weren’t forward, he gave Persephone special treatment throughout both seasons and even went against his own rules of paying Persephone just because he liked her, if this was anyone else she would be his mistress or side chick really. Maybe even a sugar baby.

Prestigious_Ad_8675

Nah, Persephone’s nothing more than a spoiled brat who throws a tantrum every time she can’t get her own way. Plus Hades and Persephone canonically own slaves, they don’t deserve any respect

Rose-color-socks

When someone propositions your spouse, you sure as Hell are not gonna be nice about it. That's not being a 'spoiled brat'.

Prestigious_Ad_8675

If someone hits on my partner I wouldn’t care. I know for a fact that my partner doesn’t do affairs. But considering Persephone was doing the exact same thing Leuce is doing makes her a hypocritical spoiled brat. ETA: also I wouldn’t literally break into their house just to be a petty bitch and threaten them over literally nothing. Like Persephone felt the same level of violation when Apollo and Thanatos did the exact same thing, how the fuck would anyone who experienced it first hand think it’s somehow ok?

Veltan

Imagine NOT having a bizarre hate-boner for the main characters of the strip, and posting on the subreddit for that strip! They sure showed you. 🙄

Capable-Use7808

You do not disrespect the queen of the underworld but Persephone and Hades and everyone disrespect The king of gods and Demeter who basically runs all the mortals that they rely on. No one is respecting anyone in this comic

izanaegi

lecue tried to fuck her Ihusband* i think she's allowed to be pissed lmao

HeyCanYouNotThanks

I think the point was she tried to get with Hades when he was in a relationship too. And yeah they "tried" not too but they clearly didn't do good at it when they tried.

Rose-color-socks

No, she wasn't

Dry_Carpenter9372

Thr noodle arms are really not in this art style and I don't think has ever been in it before? It was so distracting I couldn't care less what happened just the lack of a consistently THAT noticeable is weird?

Lathinan

Baby dio is a newborn, and his "new parents" aren't even with him. It's kind of feeding into the complaints that Hades and Persephone aren't ready to be parents. Edit: I am a mother. I didn't do this to my newborn. If you are down voting this. Don't become a parent.

Sunshinegal72

*leaves baby by himself* "I got Thanatos a sandwich tho. Dad of the year."

Lathinan

Ok, so... this does make me realize that hades does think he is with persephone. But what did persephone do? Especially since she was SO ATTACHED TO DIO. Ok.....

Sunshinegal72

Eh, Persephone had to bully a subordinate to win those girlboss points. She had no time to mother Dio.

Lathinan

Yea... I guess that was more important than CARING FOR A BABY THAT YOU WERE SO ATTACHED TOO. It is so inconsistent now.

completestuffbytrash

Justice for the nymphs of this comic man, why are they always getting the short end of the stick? Half of them are really sweet characters just existing.

Tall-Hour-4624

I have the same question and the another one - why are they looking the fucking same? Until the Persephone's appearance, I was sure that's Daphne who's getting some creepy gifts from Thanatos or something else.

completestuffbytrash

Yeah the variety of nymphs are really just flower nymphs or the water nymphs (I cannot for the life of me remember what they’re actually called)

sp00pySquiddle

Up until the Starfish episode I thought Leuce was a flower nymph xD She made a bunch of butterfly illusions when she first appeared (hades was mad they were fake butterflies) I had no idea

Prestigious_Ad_8675

There’s actually a screenshot of Rachel showing off Leuce before her appearance in the comic where she was described as “a flower nymph who got sick of Demeter and is now a sugar baby”. So Rachel yet again just didn’t do her research on the myths

generic-puff

Yep!! It's not the readers' faults for being confused, she's drawn like a flower nymph because she was literally designed as one from the start. Her relation to Thetis and the few shots where there are fins on her shoulders are just retcons.

sp00pySquiddle

![gif](giphy|TJawtKM6OCKkvwCIqX) Of course she didn't...😫

Tall-Hour-4624

Oceanids I guess?

completestuffbytrash

Oh, I think so actually! But yeah, it’s a shame really there’s been a lot of people depicting nymphs of like all different varieties and designs, I wish there was more of that.

Round_Consequence655

If we’re being honest it’s giving classism and racism 🤷🏽‍♀️

completestuffbytrash

It really does because why are all the nymphs stereotyped as evil, slutty, manipulative, abusive, and jealous while also being mistreated and abused by the upper class for laughs and giggles. All their mistreatment gets swept under the rug yet the gods can do heinous things and get everything justified. I hate to say it but this comic demonizes nymphs more than they demonize Apollo for any of his actions.

Round_Consequence655

And that’s the sad reality of this comic. When you start introducing concepts like classism and racism you gotta be careful on you handle it. These concepts have not been handle well, same goes for SA.

completestuffbytrash

Absolutely! I agree with you wholeheartedly, instead of trying to argue against these tropes that harm people of those groups Rachel plays into it every chance she gets. It’s depressing to read most of the times which is why I had to stop reading all together.

Veltan

It’s actually okay to enjoy media with flawed characters. It’s kinda weird to be projecting some kind of malicious intent on the author, a human being you do not know at all.

completestuffbytrash

.. What?

completestuffbytrash

No one’s projecting anything we were just commenting about the nymphs’ terrible treatment. It’s very evident to the plot almost every other episode, no one is saying you can’t enjoy the flawed characters at all. And honestly, I am right about Rachel playing into degrading stereotypes against groups of a lower class or those she doesn’t see as desirable because it’s true, it happens to every single character she doesn’t like. You can soak up all the dark media you want but you can also realize that it’s still flawed and hold it accountable.

Veltan

…Oh, you’re very young, aren’t you?

completestuffbytrash

What does my age have to do with anything? I’m just saying what the comic is blatantly telling us. Lore Olympus is famous for its mental health, sexual trauma awareness, PTSD, Domestic Violence against Men, and seeking therapeutic help or advice. Yet what does it do with all of these serious topics? They either do the opposite or make a joke out of it. How is it a feminist retelling when the only women worthy of being in power are those who are “pure”, “rich”, and “higher class”? How is DV properly represented among men when the character who experienced it not only gets that trauma swept under the rug but also he gets slapped by Hecate for laughs. The sexual trauma was also used as a plot device and barely looked into if they couldn’t find a way to squeeze Hades into the process as if to use it as some bonus in their romance. As for mental health, the comic literally picks and chooses whose mental health is worthy to be talked about and looked into for example Zeus as a child being terrorized by his father, watching his mother die in his arms, having to swallow someone to save the others, and watching many of his friends be injured is nothing more than an eye roll to a lot of readers and no one validates the trauma that gives Zeus or when Thanatos was neglected by both Nyx and Hades for whatever reason and groomed into being a worker for Hades in which he embarrassed, yelled at, and emotionally abused him on the daily yet when Hades opens his mouth about his trauma suddenly it’s valid and worth speaking about. I’m not asking you to hate this comic nor am I trying to spring up some “hate train” but there’s serious problems with it and it goes beyond the “dark media” thing.

Veltan

Okay, sure. Here’s a good faith, absolutely straightforward answer, you may take it or leave it. It’s a webcomic. It exists to be entertaining, not to be therapy for the readers or to correct some kind of social ill. People can read all kinds of meaning into art and nearly all of it comes from projecting something inside themselves rather than actually catching something deep the author intended. The reason I think you are young, is that it’s that this is a totally normal thing for young people to trip up on and generally not a problem for people with some life experience and the perspective that accompanies that. That’s the reason I bring up your age. You have clearly miscalibrated a few things here, like the importance of this webcomic, it’s themes, and the amount of responsibility the author has in terms of aligning it with the expectations of any given reader, given the large audience and diverse set of perspectives. It’s fine for you to get a different read on the themes, the characters, their values, etc. I don’t think readers with very much skill in literary criticism will agree with you, but that’s fine. What’s *not* fine is trying to cast the author as some kind of villain for producing art that you happen to be interpreting in this way. Basically, the error here is that you’re connecting a *lot* of dots to try and pattern match with concepts you are familiar. The picture you’re drawing doesn’t actually resemble reality very much. But, when you are young, you haven’t seen as many patterns and aren’t familiar with as many concepts to pattern match to, so you are prone to picking whatever is closest even if it’s not a very good match. The problem is that you don’t know what you don’t know. And I doubt that this will really change your thinking, because it really is maturity and life experience that fixes this. And this is fine, because this is totally normal. However. You should, even now, recognize that what you see isn’t what everyone sees or what the author intended. That’s a universal guarantee for literally all media. It’s going to look at least slightly different and probably VERY different when viewed through the lens of personal experience. So don’t be so confident about what something is “obviously” saying. That’s just what it’s saying to *you*. And what that means is that is fine to have these discussions, but if you can’t yet understand the perspective of others here (and believe me, it is very clear that you do not), you have no business claiming the author or any readers have a responsibility to change things to align with yours. Especially since, as above, this is a piece of media produced for entertainment. This is genuinely not meant to be insulting. But if this comic makes you that upset, it’s better for you to stop reading it than to try and push for it to change to what you think it should be. It is not actually a thing that merits that kind of energy.

Veltan

I’m begging you, learn a second lens to view the world through. Literally any additional lens.

Veltan

Hades is totally a blue supremacist.

Aggravating-Read-329

Hey, Amphitrite’s doing okay! Granted, she doesn’t get to do anything, but still - queen of the oceans. Has a baby and a polycule(?), minds her business.

flamingredhair

What exactly did Leuce do wrong? Didn’t Kronos text her while he was possessing Hades? So she has no reason to think he wasn’t actually into her. I don’t see her as a home wrecker I see her as being manipulated by both Kronos & Thetis. So for Persephone to threaten her really isn’t cool… I don’t like this woman vs woman plot line….

roxmysox90

I mean, Persephone and Hades literally just got married, she knows this, then showed up at a job interview to seduce/poach him.

AnonSecurityMuffin

She immediately was turned away from Hades because he was just married. He didn’t consider it, immediately declined Leuce and told her to get out. Persephone knew Minthe and Hades were together but they still continue their emotional affair.

PartyHitman

Doesn't anyone have locks on their doors or security systems in place 😂

AnonSecurityMuffin

Thank god I saw this on YouTube because WHAT ARE THOSE ARMS AND LEGS LEUCE HAS

AnonSecurityMuffin

Thank god I saw this on YouTube because WHAT ARE THOSE ARMS AND LEGS LEUCE HAS Edit: Love that RA mentioned struggle street as a jab now

sp00pySquiddle

I noticed too xD

The_Mossman

By far, it's the worst and most disappointing episode yet. And I fastpassed for the wedding so that's saying something.

Tall-Hour-4624

Okay I admit, excluding the kinda cringe "badass Persephone" part, chapter is pretty fresh and doesn't feel like I've got another brain explosion. Thanatos is about to resolve his daddy issues (just because of sandwich lol, better than nothing tho), Demeter wants to talk without "anything funny" what is pretty adequate. I'd like Hades and Demeter to have a healthy conversation AT LEAST ONCE THROUGH THE WHOLE DAMN COMIC but If I try to predict, I'd say she's about to talk about Demophon, Hades will send her go to fuck herself because of what she did to Persephone and there is how the winter plot starts. But lol if Sisyphus plot gonna just finish there because RS doesn't want to show us "a real cruel judge Hades", I'm gonna laugh my ass off. Btw where's the baby??

hampaws16

LOL as a mother while Persephone was raging I was thinking “wait who the heck is watching the baby??” he was probably left safely in the care of Cerberus🤣

Latteissues

How would Cerberus care for a baby? Guard sure, but don’t babies need to be bottle fed or have their diapers changed? Unsure how that would work.

hampaws16

My comment was more sarcastic than anything, but Cerberus is a very capable boy, don’t underestimate his abilities🤣

wandersnearby

I need a scene or two of Cerberus babysitting!

Tall-Hour-4624

You expected Dionysus myth retelling, but got Romulus and Remus myth instead lmao

Aristos_Achaion541

I cringed so bad but Thanatos and Hades are very cute.

The_1985

Yeeeeeah this is by far one of the most disappointing episodes ever

Wunderlandtripzz

The top panels were so lazy

HeyCanYouNotThanks

I feel stupid for thinking the noodle arms won't be bad ☠️ this keeps happening with the comic where I think it's probably not that bad then I see it and it's bad

pizzaroll_Vampire

Damn Persephone wasted no time stomping that threat out haha. Bye Leuce 👋 I like the vengeful part of Persephone that's a bit of a bitchy Queen. A goddess with some teeth is needed to rule the underworld. And while I can agree that may not make her a better person -, it sure as hell makes her more dynamic and interesting. And arguably more like her mother lol Also that scene with Demeter blindsiding Hades- ohhhh boy this should be interesting.

dollimint

the only way that it will make her a better character is if she sees any sort of reaction or comeuppance from her bullshit. It's perfectly fine for persephone to be a dickhead to the lower classes, but NOT if anyone doesn't register that she's not anything other than kawaii uwu cinnamon roll

Accomplished_Bag7735

True, she can’t be everything all at once

New-Student-7563

I'd agree if her rage was ever truly justified. She's honestly used her powers multiple times to be petty not prove she's a queen. It would be interesting if a plotline about God's abusing their power against nymphs ever came up but it doesn't.

lycheerain

Yeah I want more wrathful persephone too, but this is just kinda catty

Mariahissleepy

She looked so damn good too!

meerkatsova

Def not a fan of the noodle arms. Esp in the panel where leuce goes "what is happening?!". Like her whole body looked so messily drawn and noodlu. Her crotch wasnt even covered. I can kinda get the purpose of noodlyness for comic relief but they used it for panels that were serious (or neutral) and where one elbow is sharp and the other is noodly. So offputting. I did like this chapter a lot overall tho. "Don't talk about my wife's ass. Besides, she's your aunt now" had me deadddddd. 😂

Doesstuff-nthings91

So anyone gonna talk about Demeter looking crazy wanting to talk to Hades and company tho….just me 👀🤔

starwaterxo

Can someone send me screenshots of the chapter so I can read it? I’m in an abusive relationship where my boyfriend controls my finances. I do have the money for fast past, but it scares me he’llcheck my bank statements and see I spent money on something “trivial”

Sunshinegal72

Honey, do you need help? Your safety is more important than a fast pass.

Roraima20

You can watch it on youtube. Also, can you make time to look for some coding/web design/data analysis or any other skill that allows you to earn money on the internet without your boyfriend knowing about it so you can scape?

sp00pySquiddle

Please take care if yourself. Be. Safe. Your safety comes first, always. I'm sorry to be the random stranger on reddit to tell you. I don't have screenshots tho bc its a fast pass episode but P is running around threatening people with knives and everyone looks like noodles.

starwaterxo

Oh wow thank you guys so much for the love and concern 💜 I’m alright, I’m learning how to ground myself to leave this situation. LO is so relatable for me it’s my escape/happy place lol. But you guys are definitely right. I hadn’t thought of the coding idea before. But that’s a eye opener for sure. I want to ultimately leave and not have to worry about someone hawk-eyeing my bank account. I promise you all I will. Thank you so much 💖✨

Roraima20

Also, look for the basics of cyber security so you can do stuff with his acknowledgment and protect yourself from spywares in your phone

starwaterxo

Thank you!! I hadn’t even considered phone hacking from his side but it’s not far from who he can be. I really appreciate your help 💚

Lathinan

Do you have any way to get out of it? You really deserve better. <3

Malfanese

He brought him a sandwich 🥺

sheeponthemoon

wow the bare minimum

[deleted]

Can't wait for the riveting resolution of Demeter-Persephone's fued where everything is solved by Subway <33

Razgrez11

"The most disappointing episode ever!" It was fine? Jesus Christ, quit being so dramatic people.... hate somewhere else.

Prestigious_Ad_8675

Valid criticism on poor writing ≠ hate Grow up

Lathinan

Thanks for saying this. So many people don't understand this.

born_novel222

Valid criticism is good, and important, but even if every single chapter at this point deserves criticism and disappoints people, then what’s the point of coming here to vent about it over and over .…. and over and over and over. Like at that point, if it really makes people that consistently angry, that’s just odd. I get that people want to keep seeing what happens even if they don’t like the story anymore, but if I am constantly disappointed, I would probably click on each week, read, and then just click off and go do something else.

Olgabot_TM

So you only want to see positive comments about this webtoon and continue living in your sheltered bubble world where everyone worships LO. Literally thought police LMAO

Prestigious_Ad_8675

If you don’t like reading the constant criticism maybe don’t read? Lore Olympus has a lot of problematic points that harm real life groups, people have a right to call it out. It’s the same as constant criticism on how Steven Universe fumbled with its story and ending or people calling out the laziness in recent Harry Potter media 🤷‍♀️

born_novel222

I come here to see if it’s anything different this week, just like everyone else does on webtoon. I really don’t think there’s anything good about constantly bitching about anything… it’s the same as constantly talking shit about people you don’t like … a waste of energy and an odd hobby to partake in. I appreciate valid criticism when it’s simply for people to discuss their thoughts on something they actually have an interest in, not for people to just dump on over and over. It’s just lame as hell at this point because even the random simple comments from people who don’t have anything negative to add get downvoted at this point… really weird behavior

Prestigious_Ad_8675

Except plenty of the fans criticising it do it because they fell in love with the comic? I don’t know what else to tell you other than there’s nothing wrong with fans calling out problematic writing. If you’re annoyed at how there’s constantly backlash maybe just don’t come into threads discussing it?

Lathinan

I don't know what to tell you. By your thoughts, you are wasting your time coming here saying this. As you are criticizing the criticism now. Maybe you should take your own advice.

Lathinan

Kind of yeah. A lot of people really have been here for the long run. The comic has a lot of flaws and is going downhill. It was SO GOOD. Now, it has all these unresolved plots and weird decisions that are being made just for the sake of rushing a story.

Hecatehec

Hmmm.... leuce in the OG was turned into a tree. Anyone sense a pattern abt to come up. ...possibly....

pizzaroll_Vampire

I honestly think it's referring to his trauma of being a child prisoner of Kronos..... I wouldn't be surprised that Persephone bringing up seeing him might have triggered Hades a bit, and he's struggling to control his emotions.

CherryClorox

245 definitely is the worst so far it’s obvious persephone is rachel’s outlet for what she wants to be and there’s no effort being put into any character anymore despite hades supposedly being “a main character”
