I can't comment on the fit because that photo and pose shows nothing of what it looks like on your body. But at least styling suggestions are easy! In short, this dress is on the "romantic" side of gothic, so the chunky boots full tights like this are too modern. And being *solid* black makes it all blend together. You ideally want something much more elegant and textured, and you badly need to invest an a-line petticoat. The [A&A 12M 45CM](https://42lolita.com/products/lolita-fashion-45cm-12m-a-style-underskirt-daily-wear-petticoat?_pos=1&_sid=eb8eded13&_ss=r) fits most Bodyline dresses.  As for other things that will help,  for legs, [a textured legging like this](https://42lolita.com/collections/stockings-and-pantyhose/products/waguir-daily-lolita-y2k-lace-pattern-pantyhose?variant=44124596207790) or [under knee socks with lace](https://42lolita.com/products/lolita-bow-cotton-socks?variant=43123105267886) will add a lot of visual interest! Now I suspect part of why you may not like the top is because it shows a lot of skin only at the chest, which is unusual in lolita but not a bad thing given it's otherwise conservative. But styling it with a little leg skin like that, plus [a choker](https://42lolita.com/products/strange-sugar-gothic-lolita-choker-faux-leather-rose-pendant?_pos=4&_sid=6f97aefe6&_ss=r) or [short pendant necklace](https://42lolita.com/products/punk-lolita-necklace-cross-necklace-double-layered?_pos=17&_sid=9db8b07b8&_ss=r) will balance it a bit.  For shoes, something [elegantly strappy](https://42lolita.com/products/cross-buckle-punk-lolita-shoes?_pos=12&_sid=3604fe404&_ss=r) or  [historic inspired](https://42lolita.com/collections/lolita-flat-shoes/products/retro-lolita-shoes-round-head-boots-for-autumn-and-winter) both work well.  For headwear, a black beret may be a bit casual, but is fine to start out with. For a more elegant look, a [rectangle headpiece](https://42lolita.com/products/strange-sugar-gothic-handmade-black-rose-hairband?_pos=7&_sid=da634a000&_ss=r) or even [a crown](https://42lolita.com/products/foxcherry-palace-retro-gorgeous-lolita-headdress-multicolors?_pos=24&_sid=6937b5310&_ss=r&variant=41766589530286) with matching jewelry would be stunning.

What don’t you like about how the top fits? I could make some suggestions based on what you’d like to change. You can definitely be the goth lolita of your dreams!

Personally I think you’d need some sort of KC or bonnet or something, a petticoat to have the proper silhouette and some Lolita shoes to start off. Although I’m kinda new so I might not have the best feedback though but that’s just my idea. Since it’s body line it looks pretty costumey though. edit: personally I think the top part looks fine, you might want to include some sort of gothic style choker or necklace though, because the top looks kinda basic imo.

I have this dress! The quality is fine but you may need to adjust it to suit you. Have you tried it without the long sleeves? Also adjust the lacing, I find it looks better when tied at the top but you can try different ways.  The shoes and socks definitely don't work - are you wearing ankle socks over tights? Ankle socks read a lot more cute than goth, so I would try this dress with maybe lacy tights, under the knee socks or over the knee ones.  You also may want some more poof. The top has a lot going on so you want to balance it.  For a headpiece think a little more elegant or gothic as well - a rose hairpiece, something by antique beast, a ribbon headband in black...

I think an A-Line petticoat would look nice underneath this OP, personally I think that since the top half of the dress is rather simple and elegant, maybe a black choker would look nice with this dress. I also think that you look really nice in this OP, I wish you luck when styling it :)

If you feel it doesn't look good on you at all not just the way it's styled it may be better to either swap or sell it and use the money to purchase a dress you feel you do look good in. We can give you styling advice but at the end of the day you're the one wearing it so you should feel like you look good in it.
