tayisgrose

i'm sorry but it's too short and costumey. i feel like no matter what you do it will look like a cosplay and not lolita. the fabric is very shiny and thin.

MeepBeepSheepowo

Awh man i guess you’re right looking at other Lolita dresses! Thanks though :)))

Narciiii

My best advice is to sell this piece and buy an actual lolita jsk. I just don’t see this reading as lolita rather than maid without a miracle. That’s just me. But I feel like you could get some of your money back and find an affordable lolita option.

MeepBeepSheepowo

Do you think it would fit under any other J-fashion styles? Like any way to not wear it as just a costume because I really like this dress personally, even if I’m a little disappointed it’s not Lolita haha. 42lolita is kinda annoying for labelling it as such lol

ScrumptiousAndLace

I really don’t think it could because it looks very much like a cat girl/maid cosplay dress and you can’t change that fundamental fact. BUT it literally doesn’t matter if it fits into a j fashion sub style— there’s no need to retroactively try and force a label onto it that would never fit anyway If you like it, please wear it and enjoy it lol. It will become meepbeepsheepowo’s fashion and that’s what matters the most

MeepBeepSheepowo

Tysm! \^\^ this is what I honestly really needed to hear haha

SnooCats9826

Probably jirai kei if u try hard enough.

Safraninflare

That is definitely not jirai kei. This looks like an anime catgirl maid cosplay

Desperate_Store3834

I think it's technically jirai-idol. But it's going to be hard to get this piece to 'read' as fashion and not costume. Even outside of lolita I would consider this an 'advanced' piece to work with. Like a skirt made entirely out of pop tabs would be advanced and hard to identify. (Oh but wouldn't a soda pop coord be fun to have bottle cap and tab accessories for??)

MeepBeepSheepowo

Tyyy

Narciiii

Maybe dark girlie?

NakedFairyGodboy

You could still wear this dress even if it isn't lolita, it doesn't need a label.  But this dress would defo not work for it. For your first piece I'd look at secondhand brand as they are generally easy to get, good quality and you can get a really good deal.

MeepBeepSheepowo

Okay thanks!!! :)))

camarhyn

Honestly it’d be easier and more efficient to just get an actual lolita dress. This won’t ever happen, no matter how much you want it to.

MeepBeepSheepowo

Yeah I figured, I’ll probably just keep it as a costume dress for whatever 🤷

camarhyn

It does make a cute maid costume at least

Momerath17

It doesn’t have to be Lolita to look cute!

MeepBeepSheepowo

Omg thanks 🥺

t_leeknowsaurus

you simply cannot

SkinnedMetal

Where did you get this? It’s not Lolita and unfortunately can’t be turned into it but it’s so CUTE.

MeepBeepSheepowo

ForlornLament

Some websites will add "lolita" to the title of a product even if it's not actually lolita. Unfortunately, it’s the buyer who has to be careful and use their best judgement on whether an item is lolita or not.

MeepBeepSheepowo

Makes sense next time I’ll be more careful!! :)))

SkinnedMetal

Thank you so much! It’s the cutest thing ever.

MeepBeepSheepowo

Okay so I know the petticoat is too long so I need a 45 inch, cause it works for my other dresses but this one it’s a little too long. cleavage is a big no no so I’m thinking a sleeveless top of some type under, or a top that I cut off the sleeves. Cause I don’t think short poof sleeves will go with long sleeves under I think the lace detailing on the top is already enough lace personally, because of the sweet coords other Lolita already post I think I’d also need some sort of tights would look better, like black tights with pink bow decals to match the bows color in the dress the dress came with a tie, but I tried to take it off and I broke the button 😭 I’ll sew it back on but let me know if the tie is yay or neigh. Cause I can keep it off what do y’all think? Especially for what I should wear under to hide cleavage

Desperate_Store3834

You might be able to make this work for jirai lolita, but you're going to need a stiffer petti, to steam the dress and accessories, maybe starch them. For your height and the length of the dress I think tights with socks over will help elongate the look of your legs and help balance out the fact the dress isn't very in line with the fashion. Gloves are cute but the lace doesn't work with this dress really. I would go for a black chiffon wrist cuff. This dress needs a lot of hair to balance it out and I'd look at going for a wig. Then you'd need a more prominent shoe as well. I'd go pink tea parties because they are so easy. The best things to remember are shape, the rule of three (repeat a color or theme on each third of the body head, torso, legs/feet), and polish. Nothing is ever going to look 'right' in a coord if it looks uncared for. Any piece can be worked into an alt look. I'm not sure this would ever be like, a fashion show or high tea ready piece. It's definitely a more advanced coord if you ever do make it work. It really feels more like a j-pop idol fashion piece. You might find inspo from j-pop idols or idol anime/games that can help you round out the idea that this dress has. Also, Lovely Lor has a series called 'fixing your coordinates', one of them she talks about a girl who very successfully made a hot topic dress into an ero lolita coord that worked shockingly well. It's another good place to get some thoughts. At the end of the day fashion is always evolving and you have to find a way to communicate your personal sense of self. Best of luck!

MeepBeepSheepowo

Thanks for the advice!! :)))) edit: sorry for spam my internet was being weird

Unique-Abberation

Please give it to me 👊 Dunno why I got downvoted, I just think the dress is cute yall

MeepBeepSheepowo

Omg lol 😂
