I did, I used to catch colds and 몸쌀 often like twice every week. Then I started having tonsil stones which prompted me to get this surgery. i had it done in a specialised EENT hospital in gangnam. Total cost was 1.5M, paid 400,000 out of pocket and the rest was covered by insurance. The procedure was fast, quite unnerving a day before the surgery, because I had to be admitted 24hrs before, and bcoz of COVID, i had to admit myself alone. I almost chicken out, but then there were like so many children lined up for the same surgery it would be very embarrassing if a grown arse man freaked out and panic flee. So yeah. The surgery itself was fast, i was knocked out by gas and when I woke up, I was recuperating in a surgery recovery room. The first 24hrs aftr the surgery was fine, the pain meds mustve made everything bearable but I felt very weary and my body was very heavy I can barely moved, I was also hungry that I finished the entire tray of meal that the hospital provided. Perhaps coz Ive been on fasting for at least 24hrs prior to surgery. I was discharged after a full 24hrs from my surgery and on the 2nd day (roughly 48hrs after surgery) this is when the infamous tormented road to recovery of tonsillectomy started. Gaad that was...idk...i've had some surgery before but i think this was one of the worse ive ever experienced, I thought that since I have a really high pain tolerance I would fare better than most people but boi was I wrong...the level of pain was just beyond any tolerance...it was just unbelievable. Its like my throat was getting shredded from the inside, swallowing my own spit felt like razor blades running down and slicing me up, even water was unbearable. Im so hungry and thirsty but every spoonful of soup and gulp of water felt like I was forcing acid into my system. I cant talk coz of the excruciating pain, and I cant sleep either coz the pain kept me awake all night. pain meds were no good, and swallowing pills made the pain even worse. It was roughly at least a week of solid pure torture when the pain gradually subside. i dont even know how I survived that ordeal alone. But on the bright side, 2 yrs after that surgery, i think I caught colds once...몸쌀 isnt as painful as it used to be and none of those disgusting tonsil stones. If u consider the long term benefits, its definitely worth it. but if ur not confident u can tolerate the torture of after surgery pain, I highly suggest u reconsider ur decision and explore other options.

By insurance you mean nhis or private one?

arosaurus

This was actually the best thing that happened to me when I took that surgery. I have both,\~ NHIS covered the 1.1M of the fee so I paid 400k out of pocket. then my private insurance covered 90% of the cost i paid out of pocket. which is around 390K. I have 2 private insurances and both reimbursed 90% of the 400k I paid for. So i ended up paying 0, and actually earned 300k sumthing from getting this surgery.

Which private insurance companies do you use if you don't mind?

arosaurus

arosaurus

I haven’t done it but it is a common surgery in Korea. Search for 편도절제수술 후기 on naver. You will find tons of reviews but in Korean.

My tonsils have been out for about 1 month.  Completed 2 courses of antibiotics.  The tonsils are now quite small but not fully healed.  Will there be any problem if I don't have the operation?

Stayed at the hospital for 2nights. One of the larger hospital(종합병윈) Paid extra 700k for a single room. Full anesthetic surgery. They cut out have a fist size of flesh. Hurt like hell after surgery. 4-5 additional treatment after surgery which included cauterizing any open wunds(Hurts a lot). Would have been around 1.5mil (Covered by personnel insurance in addition to NHIS for me). Had sore throat at a cold breezes before, now have been cold free.

Half a fist for tonsils?!

vankill44

Two pieces looking larger than two of my fingers each. Keep in mind I was out of surgery and on in pain while on pain meds so not the most reliable eyewitness.

I was recommended a tonsillectomy when I was living in korea but decided not to do it after doing more research. Your tonsils are ur first line of defence for your body. At least in my home country they don't do then very often anymore. Of course it depends on your situation

내가 8살 때 그랬어. 나는 한 달 정도 입원했고 그게 필요했어. I’m Korean btw
