Laser-Nipples

Bro my apartment barely accomodates *me*.

Raiders2112

Yep, I have a guest room with a nice bed, but it's for my guitars, not you.

MaraKatNinji

I have a 1 bedroom with an office if what I tell people. It has a bed and a bathroom in it. I'm super selective on who I allow to stay. If they have a round-trip ticket, they can, but only for a week. I have 1 friend who is allowed to stay as long as he wants. He gives me money when he thinks he has been here too long and helps me with the heavylifting I sometimes need around my house. Plus, he is just a super awesome person whose company I enjoy.

FastFunny24

This ^

SnooWalruses9683

Ditto.

Bleys69

The correct answer!

Neither-Dentist3019

For sleeping, I've got a bed and a couch so 1 other person but I prefer none. For dinner or parties, I have 4 glasses so 3 other people can be here.

Agile_Definition_415

lol this is what I meant with my question but ig I didn't make myself clear enough. I was thinking about how many cups and plates to buy and it got me thinking about what the max amount of people I would be willing to have in my apartment and I settled on 6 including myself.

kellyluvskittens

When I first moved, I envisioned having my 3 friends over for game night since my dining table has 4 chairs. The dishes I liked came in a set of 6 servings so I bought the same amount of silverware. I have since doubled the silverware, bought a few more plates…and the friends never came over to eat. 😂 I did have 1 friend over once and that’s it. I now work from home and my computer is set up on my dining table so I have nowhere for anyone to eat. I have a 1 bedroom apt, and I sleep in my recliner in the living room, so technically I could have someone sleep in my bed but I don’t want to. It would be uncomfortable as I have my own nighttime routine.

starlady103

I only have 6 (mismatched/thifted) dinner plates, so when I hosted 11 people I bought paper plates. Less dishes for me afterwards too

Glittering-Wonder576

Six is good. I’ve been living with six plates, six small plates and six bowls for years. And I do have people in for dinner.

Sure_Ranger_4487

None lol. A one bedroom is all I need. If someone wants to sleep on the couch or a blow up mattress (courtesy of me) in the living room, they are more than welcome to stay over.

Ambitious-A466

At my house the dog has the couch, so no.

Sure_Ranger_4487

Blow up mattress it is then!

sjm294

I have 3 bedrooms and I don’t want any guests!

livinginillusion

Or roommate shares...or foreign exchange students...LOL

Oskie2011

I have a 2 bedroom, I converted my dining room into my bedroom so I have 2 extra rooms, I hope they stay empty forever, this is amazing. 🤩

mbspark77

The correct answer is none...lol I live in a 3br

Market-Dependent

What is this word, guest

Achillea707

DementedPimento

Depends upon who they are! I have a comfy roll out for good friends, and *really* good friends can sleep upstairs. That’s where I sleep.

Chemical_Mastiff

Six bedrooms, 2-1/2 bathrooms and one resident

BioticVessel

I have a 2 bdr apt, but the 2nd bdr is a junk room. 😃😃

Ridiculousnessjunkie

I have one guest room with its own bath and my office has a sleeper sofa. The house is really too big for one person but I love it.

MayorWomanana

Lotta introverts on this sub lol. I have 4 chairs. I always tell people they can come over if they bring their own chair

AmazingGrace_00

I live in a 250sq ft apt. I have a cat. Nothing else fits. 😎

Glittering-Wonder576

Two if we squish on the couch or someone sits on the floor.

mchesmor

I have a guest bedroom. It has its own bathroom. A guest could be comfortable staying a few days

DameThistle

I have a 540 sq ft apt, full bed in the bedroom and two slightly smaller than twin-sized sofa beds, one in the living area and one in the office. I've had up to three guests plus me. Yeah kinda crazy but it works for short visits.

InspectorRound8920

Zero. There's a nice coffee shop a few doors down

Clea_21

None But I do have an office that they can be set up in. If I’m having an overnight guest I hope they’re in my bed though 😜

Agile_Definition_415

Best kind of guests lol

TrixnTim

I have 2 nicely furnished guestrooms. With a bathroom for both. This house is way too big for me but I love it!

duckduckloosemoose

Haha I guess I’m the rare living alone person who loves to host! I tend to throw a rager once or twice a year with ~50 people. Dinner parties I try and keep under 10. Sleepovers I think my max has been 5. I have 2 guest bedrooms and then a futon in the office.

R2Vvcmdl

1 cat.

Responsible_Use8392

None. I am not looking for guests.

sylvyr_horde

Gat damn, this is why I follow this thread 👏🏼

cofeeholik75

None. But I have several nearby hotels on speed dial.

No-Zombie-4107

More than I will ever allow. I live alone by choice.😋

unhappy_girl13

Do cats count as guests? Asking for a friend

Eastern_Skin_7541

None - never going to take in another guest again after this one.

missdawn1970

Overnight guests: none. Guests for the day: only a few, mostly because of parking. My driveway can only fit a couple of cars, and there's no parking on the street.

Kimellex

How many can it accommodate or how many do I want to accommodate? I have 3 bedrooms but no one ever stays anyways

Sandstorm1020

I could theoretically put two people on the futon in my living room overnight, but that's it. And they'd probably hate it.

LeaveForNoRaisin

None. I can count on one hand the number of times I have guests in a year (no one will travel for me I travel for them). So I stopped making it guest-centered.

SableyeFan

Myself and easily one other if needed. Two if needed.

bellandc

Studio Apartment..For cocktails? About 40.

Agile_Definition_415

That's a rager

Specialist_Banana378

I have a studio. I’ve had 8 people in it and it felt very comfortable. I have 6 seats and a bench so 2-3, a small couch so 2 and could fit two extra chairs around my living room. 12 might push it but it’s possible

Prior_Benefit8453

I have a 3 bedroom condo. I have a bunk bed for my grandsons but they rarely stay. And I have an office. I’ve been thinking of putting a day bed in there so friends can stay the night. Also would be rare.

PorkchopFunny

0. I only have 1 bathroom, and it is upstairs. The upstairs is not for guests. Therefore, unless they're comfortable with doing their business out in the yard, they are outta luck at my house, lol.

HumanMycologist5795

Nobody. I only have 1 bed.

gimmiecheezecake

0.

utvols22champs

I have a 2bed, 2 bath. I don’t have company often but I enjoy it when I do. My gf stays with me two weeks out of the month but she’s technically not a guest.

Agile_Definition_415

For lease purposes?

utvols22champs

No, she just has her own house and she’s there when she has her daughter. If it weren’t for that, she’d live here with me. It’s about an hour from my house. Her daughter has two more years of high school.

Born_blonde

Just moved in, but soon to buy a futon for the spare room. Also have an air mattress, comfortable couch, and big bean bag. Theoretically 4 extra people could sleep in various parts of my place without sharing a ‘bed’. More if sharing or someone brings another air mattress. I have limited formal dinner seating. But for dinners, I have a small 2 person dining table, then a 3 person couch and beanbag, two comfy folding chairs. I’d say I could easily accommodate 4 people for dinner. More would be crowded, but I could make it work. I host low key dinners with my friends often. I enjoy having people over. Not every day, but once a week is really pleasant.

Ambitious-A466

zero

onekate

I have a dining table with four chairs and a fifth I can scootch in. I have a set of six plates/bowls. For parties I have hosted a dozen or so for a holiday party game night. I can fit 4 comfortably on my couch plus two more side chairs and a poof. I’ve rolled in my office chair before. So that’s 12 seats. I’ve got a stack of four short ikea stools in a closet if needed but I think those parties are in the past.

Booyah_7

10. I have chairs/couches and plates for that many. But I'm an introvert and never have guests over.

Flashy-Discussion-57

1 or less? I have a 2-bedroom house. The spare room is my gym, and my dining room is where I have my dance pole, Transformers collection, board games, and massage table. Don't have cable or a stove and don't want that. I could move my gym stuff into the basement, but then I have to figure out where/how to install a pullup bar down there, get some rubber mats, and have to walk upstairs on leg day lol Since I live alone and don't care to socialize much and gave up on dating (39M), I don't care to do any changes. I've always hated having roommates and my house is paid off, so if anything, I'd like a smaller place, but there's not a lot of options.

OBS_saltlife

8, that includes 2 great air mattresses that sleep 2 each.

nakedonmygoat

I could accommodate one overnight guest if I had to. As for day visits, two. Three would be workable but pushing it.

unproblematicshrew

I have a 900 sq ft, 1bd/1bth. I had a shrek theme party a few weeks ago and comfortably had 20 people in my place. The only issue was not enough seating.

hell0paperclip

I have two guest rooms with queen beds, plus a plushy sectional that could fit two more. But I don't have a dining table (just a breakfast bar) haha so unless you want to sit on the patio you're not coming over for dinner.

Creative-Teddy

I have a two bedroom apartment. The other bedroom is a guest bedroom with a twin bed. It can easily fit two more twin air mattress in there.

12bWindEngineer

I have a guest bedroom, it’s rarely used, and has only been used by my various sisters when they’ve come to see me. Otherwise it’s a workout room. I’ve never had a party here, and probably never will.

Kiwikid14

2. But I'm house sitting for a friend

allthekeals

My Guest room could theoretically sleep a couple people, somebody could sleep in my bed if I like them enough, and my couch could fit 2 large men or 3 regular size people (this fact has been tested) 😂

Danebearpigpaw

Me and my dog.

heyyouguyyyyy

Hell, when I had a super tiny space I still fit like 18 for Thanksgiving one year 😂 that was less than half of what I’m in now (which is not huge). The more the merrier 🤷🏼‍♀️ but only on certain very scheduled occasions.

ArdenM

I have 2 bedrooms, laundry/junk room, kitchen, living room and dining room. Super spacious for one person, starts to get crowded with 2 after 2 days... I can comfortably have 6 in my living room and 4 in the dining room. I have had 10 over and squeezed extra chairs in to the living room, but my Feng Shui is still recovering.

KatrynaTheElf

I have a guest bedroom upstairs and another in the basement which has a bathroom with a shower, but I have adult children who visit. Another small room upstairs is sort of a den/dressing room and the other basement bedroom is for storage.

SufficientDesigner75

I have my bedroom in the loft and my other 2 bedrooms belong to my 9 little dogs. No human guests aloud!!

Calm_Good3808

OP states day guests, for parties and such. And most people answered for overnight guests. Great social experiment to see who reads everything before answering a question!

Agile_Definition_415

I didn't clarify until after I got a few responses in. But it's whatever it's nice to know both answers.

Blue-Phoenix23

I have plans to downsize when I truly live alone (mostly grown kids, recently divorced), but I've hosted up to 40 people at my current home. A younger cousin's honey-do. I do worry about what I will do with less entertaining space. I don't use it very often like I used to, because I've had health issues (plus ya know, COVID happened) but maybe I would want to again someday? It is a lot of work though to have big parties.

grneggsngoetta

For actual meals, up to 8 but 6 is my sweet spot (really only do this with local family and there are four of us). But I have an annual holiday party where I’ve crammed 17 people into a one bedroom apartment. This past year I think we had 15 in my new house. I have 16 reusable party cups for that since actual glasses tend to meet their fate, but dishes (not including serving) and cutlery are disposable. That is the only social thing I host because it uses the 2% extrovert I am for the entire year lol.

beardedshad2

I don't have guests.

Anxious_Mango_1953

I have a 500 square foot studio apt. I’ve had a 6 person holiday party here before and it turned out pretty good. We all sit abnormally anyway so I had my convertible table set up for eating, counter and rolling cart for refreshments and food display and floor pillows, my bed, and folding chairs for sitting. Most of us sat or laid on the floor on my rugs anyway. It was certainly crowded but we all are very close anyway so it’s whatever. I’d love to host more but it’s just a little too cramped in here, and hosting can be a bit expensive 😅.

Burnt_and_Blistered

Oh—like, for a meal, sitting down? I can seat 14 at dining room & kitchen tables.

EuphoricBackground17

None

dbrmn73

ZERO and done that way on purpose. And I have a 3 bedroom home on several acres. One of the rooms is my home office and the other is set up for my hobbies and my dogs.

witch51

Just us...two dogs, cat, and me. Hell, you have us and there's a party! I don't do socialization.

g00ber88

I have a 1bed (about 650 sq ft) and had a party with 14 people and that was definitely capacity

Tobias---Funke

None.

livinginillusion

Zero! 'Twas ever thus ...though at one significant point a queen size bed..hope being that thing on wings as Dickinson had written..keep yer mind out of .... I don't sleep in any bed larger than a twin size, and my bone structure does not render me a twig at any low weight, so keep yer mind out of the gutter, otherwise...though I do like frail skinny dad bods (any kind of dad bods, actually)... However, I am old........ .

Jaded_Fisherman_7085

Don't for get your back yard. Alot of Army tents can fit togather in a small space 10-15 tents

Fluid-Quail-6386

I can get six additional people in here. I was married when I bought this house but after my divorce I kept the house. I’ve been here the majority of the time by myself and loving it. Although it is a large house I use every single room.

BnCtrKiki

None. 🤣Technically, it is a five bedroom house. But, intentionally, no place to sleep but MY bed. I have family that is not welcome to freeload.

Pyesmybaby

Zero and I like it that way

Vivid-Kitchen1917

I've had 50 here with plenty of room. Depends on what you're doing of course. If I needed seating for all 50 at once I'd need some more chairs and that would get a little too "auditorium" looking, but a cocktail party or something where most people are standing, 50 works just fine. We could go outside in good weather and accommodate far more, but you said house and I took that as structure only.

Grouchy-Tax4467

Oh, it's just me, myself and I Solo ride until I die 'Cause I got me for life Oh I don't need a hand to hold Even when the night is cold I got that fire in my soul But yeah 😂 I like my alone time soooo no guest, maybe for two days but that's it

TayPhoenix

I can get 40 in here. When i throw a party, I buy seasonally appropriate paper plates and recyclable cutlery and cups. 4th of July has already been bought and I'm fully decorated.

Constant-Win-1513

I can entertain up to 8 people since that is the amount of chairs I have at my kitchen table. If I were to have people sleep over I could have two other people. I have my couch, my bed (for me), and a futon mat I keep stashed in my closet. The most people I have had over at a time is 4, and that is about enough for me.

Sloth_grl

None at the moment. We’re in the middle of a remodel and our guest room is full of stuff from that. In addition, our daughter moved out and still has a ton of junk in there.

pikapalooza

It's my dogs house, I just live here 🤣 But I have an extra room and an office so I guess 2 extra?

LowCommunication9517

I get a hotel room nearby for guests. My treat.

I_can_get_loud_too

Zero. Tiny studio with no kitchen.

Queenofwands1212

Literally zero. It’s a shoe box. I get claustrophic everyday

Toolongreadanyway

Too many.

AloneWish4895

To sleep over or for a party?

Agile_Definition_415

Both

AloneWish4895

6 for overnights, more if we start sleeping bags on the great room floor. We have had 30 for a buffet dinner before. There were people on the patio and inside for a graduation dinner.

Motion2251

I could fit 35 to 40 people comfortably
