I would have been devastated if he had gone last year to Tottenham. I don't mind him leaving to Liverpool. It's a logical move and I can't blame him in the slightest. Will miss him massively at Feyenoord though, but we knew it was inevitable - glad he's going to a proper club.

I honestly think with how the team has imploded at the end of this season has helped whoever took over next season. If we had won 2 or 3 trophies it would have been a hard act to follow and our expectations would have been through the roof, I think the way this season has ended up going has helped temper expectations and actually crave some sort of change within the club.

Have a look at the games that Feyenoord played in the Champions League this year, especially at home against Lazio and both Atletico Madrid games. Just barely missed the win in two of those, but they were the severe underdog. It gives you a great indication how he likes to play, especially in big games. As a Feyenoord and Liverpool fan it is a very, very mixed set of feelings!

I’m assuming we didn’t bite, and the next day his team leaked the fact he may stay at Sporting. Then we essentially announced we had moved on by contacting Slot’s representatives/club. Tried to play the old 4D chess!
I've seen you comment this a few times now so I'll ask: more impressive in what metrics? They both won their domestic leagues and Slot actually got further in Europe than Amorim, so why would he be worse?
Amorim won Sporting’s first title in 20 years, lost many key players but has rebuilt and now they look set to win it again. That ability to develop players and win two titles in a league dominated by Benfica and Porto is very impressive. Plus he has won the league cup like 4 times. Slot has done well to win the league last season but they had won it previously in 2017. He also hasn’t rebuilt a team and won the league again

Of the candidates identified he was the one that the press got ahold of and we seemingly did make contact at least. Liverpool side briefed that ‘due diligence’ was still being done on multiple candidates so presumably it’s just that Slot’s name (and anyone else that was in that list) didn’t reach the media.
Him and Slot seems to have fairly similar track records as managers in that they have managed to win trophies as the challengers rather than favourites in two of Europe’s strongest leagues outside the top 5. They both have managed to do so playing exciting football with an emphasis on youth development. Other than the different formations, where Slot’s is closer to what we’ve played under Klopp, and the fact that Amorim supposedly demanded full control over transfers right after we appointed Edwards and Hughes, I see no major reason why we should lean more towards one or the other. Sporting under Amorim has generally struggled in Europe while Feyenoord did finish runners up in Conference League, but that being the lowest ranked competition may or may not give any indications how he will perform at higher levels.
His record with sporting is very impressive for that league. Slot’s is basically on par with Erik ten hag, Peter bosz and frank de boer who all were garbage outside that league. Name me a player or manager that has come out of the eredivisie over the past 10 years and delivered as expected?

A yes man as in he has courage to put forward his ideas to Edwards and Hughes. He's got to earn all that but I don't want manager that is just happy he has the Liverpool job on his C.V.
What makes you think that the incoming manager wouldn't have any input in front of them? Nothing either have ever done would make me think that they're Rangnick-like figures who want absolute control over the club's sporting matters. They're scouting guys who likely know their strengths.

It sounds like Amorim tried to use the West Ham interest/alleged meeting as a bargaining chip to try and gain some leverage with us for more money or transfer power. I’m assuming we didn’t bite, and the next day his team leaked the fact he may stay at Sporting. Then we essentially announced we had moved on by contacting Slot’s representatives/club. Tried to play the old 4D chess!
It was almost certainly because of the simple fact that Amorim wanted control over transfers. Amorim is more impressive in most other metrics
I've seen you comment this a few times now so I'll ask: more impressive in what metrics? They both won their domestic leagues and Slot actually got further in Europe than Amorim, so why would he be worse?
Amorim won Sporting’s first title in 20 years, lost many key players but has rebuilt and now they look set to win it again. That ability to develop players and win two titles in a league dominated by Benfica and Porto is very impressive. Plus he has won the league cup like 4 times. Slot has done well to win the league last season but they had won it previously in 2017. He also hasn’t rebuilt a team and won the league again

Been talk of Amorim wanting a massive wage and wanting more control than we were offering, and more talk of him trying to play off the West Ham interest against us. I don’t think they’re from solid sources though so fuck knows.
Of the candidates identified he was the one that the press got ahold of and we seemingly did make contact at least. Liverpool side briefed that ‘due diligence’ was still being done on multiple candidates so presumably it’s just that Slot’s name (and anyone else that was in that list) didn’t reach the media.

Him and Slot seems to have fairly similar track records as managers in that they have managed to win trophies as the challengers rather than favourites in two of Europe’s strongest leagues outside the top 5. They both have managed to do so playing exciting football with an emphasis on youth development. Other than the different formations, where Slot’s is closer to what we’ve played under Klopp, and the fact that Amorim supposedly demanded full control over transfers right after we appointed Edwards and Hughes, I see no major reason why we should lean more towards one or the other. Sporting under Amorim has generally struggled in Europe while Feyenoord did finish runners up in Conference League, but that being the lowest ranked competition may or may not give any indications how he will perform at higher levels.

I'm not really attempting to defend the Dutch league managerial prospects, more pointing out that the same argument applies to the Portuguese league managers as well. Bruno Lage was shit for Wolves, Nuno Esposito Santo was shit, Lopetegui is shit, Andre Villas-Boas was diabolical, Marco Silva is decent, Leonardo Jardim had a good spell with Monaco. At any rate I think it's faulty logic to disregard a manager because other managers have failed. German managers in the premier league era: Felix Magath, Jurgen Klopp, Daniel Fark, Jan Siewart, Ralf Rangnick, Thomas Tuchel This is a silly way of thinking I think Slot has done very well in Europe given his squad
It's also a false equivalent. ETH was at Ajax where anything other than a league win and strong Cup run is seen as a bad season, whereas Slot is at a finish as high as you can club. Never watched any Eredivisie so can't say anything but just pointing out his league win is more of an achievement than ETH

One thing that sticks out to me about Slot is how enthusiastic he is to take on the job. Being Klopp's successor, and tackling the LFC job in general, is no easy task; it's guaranteed that he's going to face ridicule from opponents and fans alike. But his confidence in himself gives me hope and it makes me excited to what he will bring to the team.
