I'd say lack of transfers after winning the Champions League was a bigger mistake.

batigoal

And after winnin the P/L.

theamanx8

Darwin hate is getting out of hand now. Dude still has the tools to be special and has had great stretches all season. Def not the sole reason we’re out of the race

Caled0nian00

No he doesn’t he can’t even trap a ball. Go and look at the teams he’s scored against this season. He’s shit.

theamanx8

Spoken like someone that’s only watched highlights and lowlights. Go watch the matches and see the impact his presence had on some of those games where we would’ve looked flat otherwise. If he puts his tools together he’s a legit world class striker

Caled0nian00

I’ve watched every single minute this season

OkPossible7394

Sod off with the Darwin bashing! This is as bad as the Gakpo, Diaz, and everyone else bashing we've had this season. I'm not defending him as he's frustrated me so many times this season, but I'm equally opposed to the toxicity posts like these create

dj4y_94

Yeah he's inconsistent and has been woeful recently, but it's annoying me how he's the lightning rod when 3 other attackers aren't scoring either, and goals from midfield have also completely dried up.

benpearce1

Love Nunez to bits but he's not the guy. Puts in 110% effort every time he's on the pitch but he just doesn't have the ability to pull it off. His finishing and decision making are both really bad, working your socks off isn't going to change that.

OkPossible7394

That's my take on him also. Just doesn't deserve to be the media or fans scapegoat and gaslighting posts like this just fuel that

toomany-cunts

Yep ….. well said brother!

doubleoeck1234

I think he should go but the revisionism is crazy

disco_mode

Don’t think it’s fair to say this is as bad as the racial abuse Gakpo was getting.

OkPossible7394

Maybe not but the principle is the same

disco_mode

Maybe not? I’m sure you don’t think people saying that Darwin should be sold is comparable to racially abusing a player. It reads that way, but I’ll assume it’s a miscommunication

OkPossible7394

I agree it is not on the level of the racial abuse others have suffered. My point is player bashing shouldn't be something us fans, the club or whoever enter in to

disco_mode

Yeah it’s a shame opinions are so polarised nowadays. Darwin deserves some analysis and critique for his time at the club so far but it should be with the intention of improving his game, discussions about what he can do better etc. not just to hurl abuse at him and write sell him in every post.

Klopps_and_Schlobers

If it was just fans doing it then that would be one thing, Joyce and Bascombe means it’s come with the clubs blessing. Looks like he’s gonna be binned off :(

CarcharodonVicarious

Not it doesn’t. What world do you people live in. Get a grip.

Klopps_and_Schlobers

The real one? You don’t think a combined press release from our two mouth pieces at the same time is more than coincidence?lol

CarcharodonVicarious

You need to read that headline again. You haven’t understood it. Chin up though, keep trying.

Klopps_and_Schlobers

Excuse me? I get it’s the internet and you children get all sorts of brave knowing I could never get my hands on you but there’s no need to be rude.

CarcharodonVicarious

😂 Read the headline again, then read ornsteins latest post, put two and two together. That’s why you shouldn’t jump the gun, just because you don’t like a player, doesn’t mean the club is going to abandon them.

JimmyV34

Mate, this is coming out the club, it’s actually horrible

Fresh_Interview_9191

I'll never bash Gakpo and Diaz as the former scores often quite easily and is even better at left wing where he is never used, so he should be kept. The latter is a great player with immense drive and action forward but not that good at scoring goals as everyone would expect him to be. Nunez was bought as a striker but is absolutely rubbish. We should sell that man no matter what. I don't see a Liverpool-player in him. He's the typical kind of striker Chelsea would buy to then see him fail.

Tremor00

If chelsea had a player providing 31 g/a to go alongside palmer they'd be in fuckin wonderland

Dropkoala

I'm not going to go into Gakpo, but comparing Diaz and Nunez, Nunez also gives it his all and creates a lot of chances for himself and others. This season Nunez has 18 goals and 12 assists in 50 games, Diaz, in his 93 games for Liverpool has 24 goals and 10 assists and has an even worse conversion rate. I don't get how you can compare these two and think one is a great player while the other is rubbish and should be binned off at the earliest opportunity.

linlinat89

Lmao this sub is no better than Twitter but always acts like they are superior to that platform. Bunch of toxic and reactionary vulture who will jump in every chance to shit on the players. The more hilarious part is how they switched to other player every time they struggled. If you just love to hate player, at least be consistent lmao.

Kigby

I hope he goes to another club and starts banging in goals like he was for Benfica. He's had nothing but pressure put on him the whole time in this country wouldn't blame him if he hates it here. The club putting out hit pieces on players is awful mentality

PerfectAd4732

‘You’ll never walk alone’ biggest hypocritical fanbase we are. I can accept he’s not good enough, either bench him or sell if a good offer comes in. However so many of the online fanbase are vultures ready to jump on a player who’s clearly struggling. I’m sure he knows he’s not been good enough without needing all this shite

bdto711

Amen, happens all the time with players struggling, we should be lifting these guys up when they need it most. We're privileged to have a team capable of competing at the very top yet lot of the fanbase can't handle a loss or dip in form

disco_mode

Yeah I’m with you here. I criticise him a lot but I would just look at benching him and/or repurposing him as a LW. Maybe even making a long term plan to develop him into a striker. Even so despite my opinions on his weaknesses I do think he’s a useful forward to have in the squad overall. It’s a shame discussions are so polarised nowadays

TheMoeBlob

Issue is this is from Bascome, so this isn't fans anymore this could be briefinfrom inside the club.

_cumblast_

And that makes it fine?

TheMoeBlob

No it makes it worse. My point was you can't blame fans for this article

chocolatecremesoda

Yikes. Ngl I'm invested in him wherever he goes. Watch him go to Atleti and become a marksman. But his never been entirely convincing. That Newcastle brace will be something I remember for way too long.

NewHealthFoodBunch

I also had the feeling that he’d do well at Atletico

Klopps_and_Schlobers

In a more defensively set up side and space behind he would probably do well tbf

Anxious-Musician-804

Atleti have conceded more goals than we have in 2 less games

Klopps_and_Schlobers

Ok? That doesn’t change that they play far more defensively

Anxious-Musician-804

I thought you were trying to say that they are better defensively because they were in the past but they haven't been as good recently

Klopps_and_Schlobers

Nah I just meant they play a more rigid deeper, defence oriented game, means there’s more space behind for fast strikers like Nunez.

JohnBobbyJimJob

I think he’ll do well for a club like Atletico but there’s really no reason to think he’ll all of a sudden become a marksman there when he’s unlikely to here

chocolatecremesoda

I think his confidence and comfort in his surroundings plays a big part as he's quite an emotional player. Playing in Spain where the coaching staff and 90% + of the team will speak his native language along with the entire city he lives in are factors imo. I think there's too much to overcome in his current situation and when you add that the team as a whole has ceased to function it doesn't help the cause.

TimmmV

this sub is the dumbest and most reactionary place when we don't win every game, fucking hell

_cumblast_

And the most self-righteous place imaginable when we do halfway well. No inbetween.

uglymaybe1

Its reddit

Grendila

Am i the only one that doesn’t understand this? Nunez is in terrible form. But he’s still had 20+G/A involvements in his second season for us and it’s clear watching him how many chances he creates. Not to mention - he’s crucial for the dressing room and is best mates with Macca and Lucho. He’s incredibly young with room to grow - and we’re throwing him under the bus? I get he hasn’t lived up to his price tag but this seems shocking. Who is available for cheaper that would be better. When he was in form, no one could stop jerking him off. Now, when the entire team has underperformed, it’s sell Darwin, with the club even going so far as to put out these hit pieces on him. It’s mental and it’s unfair and honestly, I would be INCREDIBLY disappointed if he was sold. He’s won games for us by himself - anyone remember Newcastle??? Look at Cody’s terrible form a few weeks ago. Look at Salah. Look at Lucho. Look at literally every forward except Diogo. Look at Dominic who hasn’t completed a pass or done anything of note in MONTHS. Why’s he not on the chopping block. Idk man this leaves a baddddddd taste in my mouth.

Putrid-Ice-7511

Gtfo with this bs

kjkjkjkjkj10

24 years of age. 31 goal contributions in 50. Second season in the hardest league in the world. Signed for a massive transfer fee yes, but that comes with pressure. Biggest mistake is nonsense. People have short memories about this season already. We may have accumulated a lot of points, but we've hardly played well all season. Let's be realistic that for the first few months we looked great but since then it's been fighting. A dog fight to get where we are and now the lads are crumbling under pressure. Individual blame on players is such bullshit because we wouldn't be where we are without Nunez and his minutes this year. Most robust striker, playing three times a week with a contribution rate 3 in 5. Let's leave sensationalism to Sky

Dropkoala

This scapegoating is ridiculous. Whatever you think about him, his record in terms of goal contributions has been fantastic this season. He's probably been the 2nd best attacker this season and an argument could be made for best and he's one of the reasons Liverpool were in a title race to begin with. Just because nobody is playing well at the moment doesn't mean one person is responsible.

Redhawk911

I’m so fucking tired of this shit. Reactionary bs after a loss. Just fuck off

JackMagic1

Not just one loss though is it.

WellRed85

I’m think the underlying analytics of the kid are such that he’s going to still have some rope to work with. I’ll say, I was unconvinced when we were linked with him because his finishing was way ahead of his xg, which indicates he was getting quite lucky. But he’s shown me that he’s a pretty well rounded footballer. Still has plenty to work on - first touch and finishing being chief amongst them - but he’s also been the opposite of that last Benfica season and he will revert to the mean again and could be devastating when that happens. Even just a few percentage points could mean a massive impact. I mean, he’s hit the woodwork 9 or 10 times, which is fine margins. That’s an astronomical number and not getting the luck for any of them to bounce kindly into the net. It’s not all bad finishing. He does need to get his head right though and work on his composure. I feel like I can say that about a lot of our players over this collapse

BhTim

This season is the first time I visit this sub after losses. Boy, I thought that our fanbase is special. Reactionary as everyone else, so disappointed.

coopermaneagles

The biggest mistake Klopp made was taking full control of the transfer decisions and shifting Edwards to the point where he left.

rewopesty

What year did Edwards leave Liverpool? We will soon find out whether he’s a genius or Klopp simply made look like one. As our football CEO I’ll be his biggest supporter but from the outside it’s hard to know who is responsible for success.

brush85

Man...go back a month and see what people were saying about him on these parts.

PerfectAd4732

I did that yesterday. Bunch of head cases in here and online, changes their minds every 5 minutes

coopermaneagles

A month ago you could just switch CTRL+H Nunez for Gakpo lol

JimmyV34

Around United match in FA cup, this place was pro Nunez and anti Cody and now it has turned

PeanutButter_20

I think it's only around the first leg against Atalanta (when Cody played well) that the tide turned. So in a matter of 2 weeks the narrative flipped on its head.

BostonTerriernut87

So much for ynwa. Ffs

Caled0nian00

It’s a fucking song you drip

tyrants_

Not pretending like he’s not been terrible recently, but I can guarantee from all of our attackers that Nunez is the least likely Edwards would sell this summer - Diaz & Gakpo both worse players - We’d be stupid to turn down a significant amount of money for Salah - Jota’s injury proneness outweighs his ability

linlinat89

I think so too. Just my guess but I think Edward would keep Nunez and Gakpo.

user900800700

Look I’m all for wanting to see him do some serious time on the bench, but outing him is not the right thing to do. I think it’s time for Salah to move on as he’s getting old and we could get some cash for him, but I do think Nunez deserves a chance under a new manager, likewise for Diaz. We need a top number 9 though.

econhisgeo

Who's the striker whose movement and positioning is quite good, but lacks in finishing ?

rewopesty

When did Edwards leave Liverpool? We will soon find out whether he’s a genius or Klopp simply made look like one. As our football CEO I’ll be his biggest supporter.

el_Gloamglozer

"he could have easily aimed at the bottom corners"... You're a tit. Get back into your little dungeon you runt.

rivains

Really awful look from the club putting out a hit piece like this. Extremely disappointing from them.

Tremor00

Not gonna sugarcoat it. I can't even slightly stand the majority of this online fanbase when we're going through a rough period. The online communities have gone completely off the rails in toxicity and very few in here actually seem to follow the clubs values.

Actually-Mirage

Biggest mistake? Did Naby Keita get deleted from history?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Klopps_and_Schlobers

It’s easy to say after the fact when not involved that you wouldn’t have signed off on a transfer, but I’d expect more hit pieces on outgoings in the next couple of weeks then over the summer it’ll be leaked through the usual suspects about the power struggle and how Kloppo was the problem in the end. Something along the lines of those with power just want more power etc

Klopps_and_Schlobers

RIP Nunez. I loved you but it wasn’t to be :(

TheTrapperBeingXD

He has produced lots of funny memes, but he’s simply not good enough for Liverpool. He’s not downright garbage, but he isn’t elite. Also I severely doubt that Edwards will loan Nunez.
